the city of Kanonji in Kagawa Prefecture hosts a Chosa Festival
This three-day festivity celebrates the traditional floats used to transport taiko during matsuri
the locals walk the streets of the city equipped with 23 chosa in the direction of the Toyohama shrine
A tradition dating back more than 150 years
it enchants visitors every year to the island of Shikoku to admire the floats made of gold and silver
Originally used to transport taiko (traditional Japanese drums) during festivals
chosa are giant wooden floats 14 meters long and 5 meters high that are over-decorated
these behemoths quickly won the hearts of the Japanese
they went beyond the borders of the former capital
so much so that we find them today in many events organized in the four corners of the Japanese Islands
carriers of mikoshi (portable Shinto temples)
or simple means of locomotion for decorations during parades
chôsa have been a staple of Japanese festivals for over 150 years
And especially in the small town of Kanonji
which organizes a celebration in their honor every October
23 chariots are carried throughout the city to the Toyohama Hachiman shrine
a place of prayer located a stone's throw from the edges of the inner sea of Japan
it is to music that the inhabitants of Kan'onji parade the floats that each district has carefully prepared for the festivities
Each district customizes its tank, and the more elaborate
so his chariot is the most beautiful of them all

a Kakikurabe competition even takes place on the festival's last day in the direction of the Ichinomiya shrine
Singing and dancing to highlight the beauty of your chôsa while lifting it as high as possible
An impressive test when you know that the average weight of these beautiful babies is around 2 tons
Our new activity in Takayama
But the Sanuki Toyohama Chôsa is not just about tanks
other performances are also on the program
such as the famous lion dance or the Funatogyo ceremony
A means of bringing good fortune to sinners who live off the inland sea
the Funatogyo ceremony is one of the significant events of the matsuri
the Toyohama Shrine mikoshi is placed on a small boat
dancers and singers provide the show to the delight of festival-goers
The ship will then travel the coasts of Kanonji to protect the city on land and sea

takes place every July in Toyohama harbor in Minamichita Town
Serving to pray for bountiful catches of fish and seafaring safety
the lively festival features processions of massive hariko* (papier-machel) Tai Mikoshi (float or sacred palanquin)
Near the center of the Japanese archipelago sits Aichi Prefecture
which borders the Pacific Ocean at its south
where its central city of Nagoya is located
the Chita Peninsula extends to the south (see map)
At the southernmost tip of the peninsula is Minamichita Town
and gold-lined seabream that rank in the top class in all of Japan.** The town has seven fishing harbors
The five districts neighboring the Toyohama fishing port work in cooperation to hold an eccentric festival called the Tai Matsuri
The festival is said to have begun about 150 years ago with a papier-mache mouse
a variety of different papier-mache shapes were added
the large sea bream papier-mache mikoshi seen today came into prominence
with huge sea bream papier-machemikoshi that travel around the town in processions
The reason the mikoshi are shaped like a sea bream is that this festival is held to pray for large catches of fish
There is also a theory that the custom originated from the sea bream which depictions of Ebisu
the five districts neighboring Toyohama hold the two-day festival
competing to create large sea bream floats measuring from 10 to 18 m in length
The festival is held at two locations in the town: the Susa district
which encompasses four wards,*** and the Nakasu district
the Susa festival takes place as the event for the local Tsushima Shrine
they hold a ceremony that involves housing the kami deity in a temporary shrine called an okariya constructed near the seaside
A mikoshi portable shrine from the Susa district heads out to receive the kami
escorted by tai mikoshi sea bream portable shrine
and together they go parading about the town
and the sight of around 60 young people carrying them is inspiring
A fireworks display held in dedication presents a lively end to the first day
boats tow the Susa district's four floats into the sea for a while
the Nakasu district's sea bream festival lasts for only one day until late at night
but it includes the procession of a sea bream mikoshi 14 meters in length
One of the festival's highlights occurs when locals pull the float into the sea with their own strength where it floats for about an hour
And an illumination of it at night presents a different appearance than during the day
Taiko drummers who join the sea bream floats in the procession through the town contribute to the festive atmosphere
While in the past it was children from distinguished families in the district who participated
Another highlight is the extravagant costumes—some people say each one used to cost as much as building a house
draws large crowds of people who turn out for the lively spectacle of the sea bream floats
For the three years from 2020 through 2022
While the festival is scheduled to take place on July 23 this year
apparently there will unfortunately be no procession of sea bream mikoshi
The day when the spectacle of their spirited procession can safely be viewed once again will hopefully return as quickly as possible

A double feature of films in the Rascal series
To give this series a proper review I have to give a little bit of my history with it
I would only watch an anime if it had an English dub before this series
Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai and Kaguya-sama: Love is War were the first anime I watched subbed because they interested me that much
Five years later they are still some of my favorite anime I’ve ever watched
I cried so hard watching the movie Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl that I still haven’t been able to watch it again even though I loved it
we have never got a dub of any of the Rascal series until now
This makes recommending this series a bit tough
But the problem is that only these two movies have gotten an English dub
If you’re someone who only watches English dubbed anime then I can’t recommend watching these movies because you will be lost
There’s a whole season and another movie of content that you would be missing and it’s all important
If you can watch Subbed for a little while then I think you should go for it
whether you watch these movies subbed or dubbed I hope you watch them because they were great
I have had an idea of who I would like to voice certain characters in my head if this series ever got dubbed
Erica Mendez is not who I would have chosen to voice the main heroine Mai Sakurajima
which shows that it’s a good thing I’m not in charge of such decisions because she did fantastic
It’s not the type of character she usually voices but I was all for it after the first five minutes
Stephen Fu as Sakuta worked well because he managed to nail Sakuta’s sardonic nature
and Cristina Vee as Toyohama were great as well
though Toyohama didn’t have all that much screen time
I would say the second one was the better one
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out was good but it didn’t have the same supernatural feel the rest of the series has
There are parts where Kaede’s puberty syndrome rears its ugly head but for the most part
it was a straightforward slice-of-life anime movie
Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid had me in tears for almost all of its runtime
Sakuta and Kaede’s mother is finally feeling well enough to go home which leads to Sakuta having a bout of puberty syndrome where he has to resolve some of his feelings with his mother
If you’ve read a lot of my reviews you know that I lost my mother at a young age so this film resonated with me pretty hard
But thanks to the support of Mai he manages to make it through
I think that Mai and Sakuta might be one of the top five best anime couples out there
This is one of my favorite anime series but I understand that the dubbing issue is problematic
It’s not a perfect solution but at the very least if you don’t want to watch it subbed
the light novels are available in English up to where these movies start so that might be an option
I recommend you do something to catch up though because these movies are another fantastic addition to this wonderful series
I would like to end this by saying that “Fukashigi no Carte” is one of the best-ending songs in anime and you should listen to it because a different character sings for each arc

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
Bifferno
I think it's all delayed until the 23rd now.
