Changshu Innovation's engineers can now share secure data with their colleagues while working off-site
and even invite their clients to collaborate directly
When Hou Shi inherited Changshu Innovation
that meant challenging the company’s legacy practices and sharing the wisdom of her youth
She was particularly passionate about bringing the company into the 21st century through digital transformation and cultivating talent to maximize employee value
Changshu Innovation supplies modern welding equipment
including Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding robot workstations and various inspection tools
torsion beams and other arc welding products
Shi encountered a variety of problems when it came to modernizing Changshu Innovation
the company’s mode of management didn’t match its development needs
Isolated and fragmented information caused an information lag between the sales and mechanical design teams
a reliance on document-based processes meant that internal communication was inefficient
work was often duplicated and there were regular misunderstandings
knowledge about key projects was held among a small fraction of the workforce
With no process in place to accumulate and transmit such business information
the company was at risk of losing its intellectual property
the R&D department preferred to work with existing
This meant collaboration and knowledge transfer with the rest of the team wasn’t particularly effective
It was felt that the overall inefficiency of collaboration and knowledge transfer among team members
it was struggling to keep on top of orders
This problem was exacerbated by its distributed file management which meant designs were often located on individual desktops and there was no central repository of parts
After-sales service teams conducting maintenance often felt disconnected since they had no way of accessing or sharing troubleshooting information from off-site locations
What Changshu Innovation needed was an interactive collaboration platform that could improve efficiency and save costs
The platform needed to be accepted by its sales and R&D team
while helping it digitally transform at speed
Since the company doesn’t have its own internal IT team
the chosen platform also needed to be on cloud
As a natural step on from its existing CATIA V5 environment, Changshu Innovation chose the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on Cloud with industry solution experience Digital Equipment Continuity
This would seamlessly bring together all stages of product development
and without the need for hardware installation or IT management
With ENOVIA powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on Cloud
the company now benefits from capabilities like product lifecycle management (PLM)
intellectual property protection and reuse as well as easy collaboration across departments and improved project management
Changshu Innovation expects to realize a wide range of benefits once it has transferred its legacy CATIA V5 data onto the 3DEXPERIENCE platform on Cloud
manufacture and produce its complex machines much faster thanks to a new level of efficiency and collaboration – giving it the capability to easily keep up with orders
The platform acts as a single source of truth
managed and stored in a centralized location
Workers’ knowledge and activities covering all disciplines can be captured and shared because of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s ability to store and make available a complete representation of Changshu Innovation’s products
new recruits can quickly get up-to-speed with Changshu Innovation’s business processes
This will further help accelerate design cycles and improve speed to market
With the knowledge transfer and collaboration benefits provided by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform
we are in a much better position to find solutions to our everyday challenges and modernize our business
With real-time access to accurate information
the company’s engineers can collaborate on the latest version of designs
Using the immersive Digital Review collaboration function
they can share feedback on potential issues right at the beginning of the product development lifecycle
The 3DEXPERIENCE platform’s cross-company collaboration features
including online widget apps such as ENOVIA’s 3D Markup
Through either shared licencing or a simple invitation to edit
Changshu Innovation’s clients can access designs
offer valuable input and suggestions on product development
these online widget apps allow engineers to easily and securely share data with their colleagues when working on maintenance projects off-site
Issues on a virtual prototype are resolved real-time via collaborative digital reviews
without having to download CAD files locally
Having everything they need available via the cloud means there’s no need for internal IT maintenance teams – everything is handled by Dassault Systèmes
This enables Changshu Innovation to focus on what’s most important to its business – scaling its operations and delivering a high level of service to its customers

but most of society is finally doing a collective 180-degree flip on its once guarded view of artificial intelligence in favor of being open to the idea that it can help humankind in a myriad of positive ways
That’s why Houston-based software development company Allganize recently secured $20 million in series B funding to propel its industry-leading AI answer bot
which intelligently responds to customers through natural chat conversation flows
while also enabling the automation of up to 80 percent of support tickets
allows customers to get serviced faster while improving employee productivity
With the latest $20 million investment by InterVest and Murex Partners
that brings the total funding into Allganize to $35 million
That investor confidence will ultimately help catapult the company’s AI solutions to the next level and help target its planned Japanese Stock Exchange listing by 2025
“We will lead the expansion of corporate-specific LLM app markets and accelerate the distribution of enterprise automation AI in USA
“We are dedicated to empowering companies to develop custom LLM applications
enabling practical tasks execution and work automation.”
Allganize’s plans to go public in 2025 stems from Lee’s early ties to Japan
where he was able to secure his first job as a programmer at a gaming company and years later the first investment for the first company he started
“I'm originally from Korea and when I got a scholarship from the Japanese government
and I went to the research laboratory of Tokyo Institute of Technology
I was not able to speak Japanese at all,” Lee tells InnovationMap
“But that one year actually changed my life
and I was able to learn a lot of Japanese cultures
so I was really looking for an opportunity to do business with Japan
“I was originally trying to start a company in Japan
and I started to work as a programmer in a gaming company
I was actually building a product to start a company," he continues
that product name was ‘Search for You.’ It was every single person's search history
then if we can find somebody else who's already advanced
give better suggestions or the recommendations
This is future knowledge that you could probably expect to learn
while making the bulk of his decisions from Japan
he expanded his business into Japan and met the biggest VC of Japan at an event in Korea and gave a quick pitch of his company’s service
he got the funding and hired Allganize co-founder Yasuo Sato
who he’s been working with for more than 11 years now
it all comes back to where his first idea and mission was believed in and supported
and it was there that he began his AI journey
“After changing the company name to 5Rocks
we were providing analytics and marketing automation solutions for mobile game companies,” says Lee
We were using machine learning to predict every single gamer's remaining lifetime in the game
how many days or how many months is this gamer going to stay in the game and how much money are they going to spend in the game for their game items
“We were predicting this by using machine learning," he continues
"And after we were acquired by the mobile advertising company
and I actually got the opportunity to learn the deep learning
If it’s possible to dig deeper into deep learning
that’s exactly what Lee did as the senior vice president of Tapjoy
Selling his first company and staying onboard in a much more limited role allowed Lee to have a sort of paid internship or technological rotation program into AI and deep learning
which he believed was going to completely change everything and
was to be the major foundational key to his next venture
Fast forward to 2023 and the $35 million in investments
Lee and his team are aiming to expand the company’s existing customer base of over 200 enterprises and an IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in 2025
Take a quick look around and roll call currently known AI platforms
Spoiler alert: those are all descendants of Allganize’s Alli All-in-One LLM Enabler Platform
Lee and his team still find themselves having to reassure that AI is not the boogeyman movies like The Terminator or Ex Machina have made it out to be
“I think the most important thing is in how we can leverage and utilize these AI tools,” says Lee
But it's still the tool for helping humans
productivity is completely different when they are using the AI
and you can answer all the questions that you have.”
AI can add not only add to efficiency and productivity
but it can also answer questions before anyone can think to ask them and fill in the blanks to missing information that one didn’t know was missing or could think was missing
AI still can't replace people because people still have to direct it and guide it to where it needs to go,” says Lee
“And because AI's capability is becoming more and more powerful
it’s important for us to learn how to safely train the AI and how to make the good guidelines that we're using for AI.”
With Allganize focused on large language models
they assist businesses to leverage AI to enhance their employees’ knowledge recall and operational efficiency
“I'm always saying the LLM model is just an engine of the car,” says Lee
the engine is important for the car's performance
we are really focusing on what kind of application you really want to do in your organization by using LLM
our ultimate focus is all the applications because this AI should be used in the daily life of the enterprise
the biggest LLM app is called the cognitive search
So when an employee or the customer is asking a question
then AI is understanding all these internal
the best amount of the documents and knowledge bases and databases and they can give comprehensive correct answers to the users
Then AI can actually give better answers and they can also give you another suggestion on what to do next
Additional applications include comparing labor agreements in the labor department or on the human resources side
screening several hundred resumes to find who is the best candidate for an open job requisition
Bonus point: it does all of this without the implicit bias that has been historically problematic for HR teams in their recruiting process
Allganize is also able to create applications without traditional coding like Java and Python
that is possible because of the LLM,” says Lee
It has been handled only by the software code
like somebody who wants to build any of those complicated workflow automations
they don't really need to write a code and they can just use LLM
And then they can just do visual flowcharts
And then all these things are done just like magic.”
there’s been quite a bit of “magic” coming from Allganize and that’s all because of Lee and his innate ability to identify problems that need to be solved before they develop and create applications and solutions to address them ahead of time
“I think two main things are necessary to get to this point with Allganize,” says Lee
and the second thing is real domain knowledge
including telecommunications and gaming a little bit more than 20 years
how enterprise is working and how the workflow is being defined and how the company and the teams are collaborating
And I'm writing a code and seeing the very technical details of all these AI models.”
Lee learned a lot during and after selling his first company that he founded
which put him on the correct path to get the funding needed to realize his dream for Allganize
“I really want to make this a company which can go long and then big,” says Lee
“And that's why we are working on going public
we are going to go public in Japan in 2025
we're going to accelerate our global expansion.”

The "Golden Bamboo Award" International Diabolo Competition was held at Changshu city sports center in East China's Jiangsu province on Aug 8 in celebration of National Fitness Day
Top diabolo masters showed off their skills during the opening ceremony of the competition
including Ji Yongxun from Southeast China's Taiwan province
as well as the 2019 CCTV Spring Festival Gala
is a skilled activity that involves the balancing and maneuvering of a spinning top using a length of string tied to a pair of wooden sticks
It has been listed as a national-level intangible cultural heritage in China
The competition was organized by Changshu Diabolo Sports Association
and the Union of Western and Eastern Sports Education
a city with a population of around 1 million
Civil servants and government employees living in Changshu
will reportedly be paid in the country’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) from June onwards
technicians and journalists will be among those paid under the new system
citing an affiliate of China’s official state news agency
China is one of the first developed countries to experiment with fully-fledged CBDC. CBDCs differ from typical cryptocurrencies like bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH)
They’re issued and maintained entirely by governments or central banks
rather than decentralized networks of nodes and validators
Subscribe to Blockworks Daily
While many CBDCs rely on some form of distributed ledger technology
they can also be deployed to non-blockchain systems
The concept wouldn’t be entirely new to Changshu. Since June 2022, some 4,900 enterprise employees there were reportedly paid a total of 2.5 million yuan ($363,000) for working additional hours
Changshu also uses digital yuan as a mode of payment for transportation of government employees and housing expenses
The city’s adoption of the system aligns with the CBDC pilot program announced by Jiangsu’s provincial government in February
it isn’t clear whether it’s enforced in other areas just yet
China has been developing use-cases for CBDCs over the past few years. US lawmakers, pundits and presidential hopefuls have brought up the topic several times
but there have been no specifics on the issuance or trial of such a currency
the adoption rate of the digital yuan among Chinese citizens hasn’t exactly been phenomenal
People still reportedly seem to prefer China’s popular digital payment platforms
which are both widely used for services such as online shopping
while fully live CBDC projects include the Bahamas’ Sand Dollar and Jamaica’s JAM-DEX
Some have suggested China’s digital yuan is part of ongoing efforts to diminish reliance on the US dollar-dominated financial system
However, critics say the government is attempting to assert control over citizens’ payments
which would come entirely under government surveillance
China counted its CBDC in its official monetary base supply for the first time earlier this year

An undercover investigation into the use of illegal child labor has led to the arrest of two men, after at least eight underage children were found making clothes in a factory in eastern China, according to state broadcaster CCTV. On Monday
a clothing factory foreman and his associate were arrested in the city of Changshu
In China, children under the age of 16 are not legally allowed to work; however, the problem of child labor persists. The exact number of child laborers is unknown, as the government does not release official statistics, but the International Labour Organization predicted there would be 9.25 million “economically active” children between the ages of 10 and 14 in China by the year 2000
In an announcement on its official Weibo microblog account, the municipal government of Changshu, a city in Jiangsu province known for its clothing industry, confirmed the arrest of a 40-year-old suspect surnamed Feng
following his appearance in an undercover video by digital news platform Pear Video
According to Monday’s statement, Pear Video’s 6-minute clip
which has since been viewed over 16.5 million times and garnered over 9,700 comments
led the municipal government to embark on the citywide clampdown
Scenes from the short video show lines of young workers in rooms piled high with mountains of clothes
while audio of a conversation with an unidentified source indicates that workers work from 7.30 a.m
Another unidentified source said that it is common for garment companies to employ four to five child laborers without any form of contract
child laborers can complete tasks to the same standard as experienced workers for just one-third of the salary
“Agents find the workers in the countryside,” said the foreman of one garment factory in the video
“They are easily deceived.” He added that many were brought in last year from Yunnan province
“Xiao Xiong,” the nickname of a child laborer featured in the video
“I didn’t realize that working without the sun beating down on you could be so tiring,” said the 15-year-old from the city of Wenshan
his daily quota of clothing garments has doubled from the previous number of 350 since he began working
but leaving before having completed a full year means no pay
In a follow-up video published Tuesday that investigated the hometowns of Changshu’s child laborers
an agent at a labor company in Yunnan’s capital
said that the minimum commission for procuring a laborer for a factory is 1,000 yuan (around $145)
you need to be young or have very little education,” she said
“Either they have no formal identification
Sixth Tone was unable to reach Changshu’s municipal government for comment
According to a Wednesday article by state-owned newspaper Beijing Youth Daily, Changshu’s municipal government has investigated 107 child labor cases
The investigations have resulted in combined fines of over 3 million yuan for the companies involved
In April of this year, a 14-year-old child laborer in China’s southern Guangdong province died suddenly, and his employer was ordered to provide the boy’s family with 150,000 yuan in compensation
a lawyer specializing in labor law at Guangzhou-based Yingke Law Firm
told Sixth Tone that China’s law stipulates that companies can be fined 5,000 yuan for every month that a child works illegally
But the ubiquity of Changshu’s child labor force points to inadequate supervision on the part of local authorities
while the legal cost of employing children is relatively low
a partner at Shanghai-based River Delta Law Firm
told Sixth Tone that companies who employ child laborers should also be ordered to pay punitive compensation
“The effectiveness [of such compensation] would be far greater than that of fines,” he said
“It would encourage children to safeguard their legal rights.”
But as the large number of children flocking to cities like Changshu shows
the appeal of work in urban centers remains a more attractive prospect than staying in school or working in the fields
A child from a village near Wenshan spoke to the camera in Pear Video’s follow-up report
“The people who used to be so average-looking when they lived here came back from working elsewhere as new people,” said the 14-year-old boy
identified only by the nickname “Xiao Wen.” “They had new haircuts — it was awesome.” Xiao Wen said he had dropped out of school and was planning to move to a city to look for work after Chinese New Year
“If the children and their parents are still receptive to the prospect of the illegal employment of minors
it means that China’s poverty gap is too large,” the lawyer Qiu said
