According to the party's camp, candidate Kim will visit Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province, which suffered from large-scale forest fires on the morning of the 6th, to examine the restoration status. In the afternoon, I visit the Jukdo Market in Pohang to meet merchants and have a luncheon. He will then visit the preparatory support group of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Gyeongju. It plans to visit Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju and Seomun Market in Daegu to examine local public sentiment and stay there. It is interpreted as an intention to emphasize that he is the official candidate of the party by carrying out his regional schedule even when calls for a swift unification with independent candidate Han Deok-soo are erupting within the party. Kim is also known to have completed his official profile photo for the presidential campaign. His wife, Seol Nan-young, traveled to temples and children's museums in Gyeonggi-do on a separate schedule to support candidate Kim. ※ This service is provided by machine translation tool, NAVER papago. "Kim Young-woong plans to come back in 10 days without fail. (Kim Ji-chan and Kim Heon-gon) will have to wait and see. The replacement players have to hang in there." When will the Samsung Lions be able to play as a whole. Samsung manager Park Jin-man talked about injured players ahead of an away game against the Hanwha Eagles in the 2025 professional baseball KBO League at Hanwha Life Ball Park in Daejeon on the 5th. Recently, Samsung has been plagued by a series of injuries. Kim Ji-chan (hamstring), Kim Young-woong (garattot), and Kim Heon-gon (waist) are all missing. All three players are key resources, so it's a big bleed for Samsung. Coach Park said, "Kim Young-woong plans to return unconditionally after 10 days. (Kim)Ji-chan needs to wait and see. (Kim)Heon-gon is a player who has had back problems, so I can't predict it. It could be 10 days later, it could be more than that. I've had injuries before, so I think I'll have to watch it." "Injured players are coming out on the fielder's side. May is the most important time..."Alternative players have to hold on well," he said. Right-hander Jung Min-sung started against the Doosan Bears in Daegu on the 4th and made his professional debut, but he was shaken by three hits and four runs with two outs in one inning. Director Park Jin-man said, "It wouldn't have been easy to make your first debut. The ball power was fine, but it seems to have shaken up when he got two people on base with a pitch that hit his body in the top of the first inning. I think I didn't have enough experience to overcome because I was young," he said with a bitter smile. In that game, Jung Min-sung only sprayed 23 balls. He will also be waiting in the bullpen on this day. Coach Park said, "We have a lot of bullpen consumption recently. There is a lack of players who can use it as a long relief. I threw it yesterday, but I'm preparing to wait in the bullpen again today. He explained, "I only pitched one inning." Ahead of this game, Samsung canceled right-hander resources Lee Seung-hyun, Yuk Sun-yeop, and right-handed pitcher catcher Lee Byung-hun from the first-team entry. Instead, right-hander Song Eun-beom, left-hander Lee Sang-min, and right-handed left-handed catcher Kim Jae-sung were called up. Manager Park Jin-man said, "All the bullpen pitchers pitched hard. There are a lot of pitches, too. During the nine consecutive games, he was replaced due to the heavy consumption of the bullpen. The players (Lee Seung-hyun and Yuk Sun-yup) are pitchers who have not been able to throw for two days. I had no choice but to change it," he said. As for Kim Jae-sung's first-team registration, he said, "I thought I should make a change," adding, "[Kim Jae-sung] was consistently playing in the Futures (second division) league." If there is a variable or if there is a fifth starter, I will go one time as a starter. I only checked my physical health," he said. Meanwhile, along with pitcher Choi Won-tae, Samsung set up a starting list of Lee Jae-hyun (striker), Kim Sung-yoon (middle fielder), Koo Ja-wook (left fielder), Lewin Diaz (designated hitter), Kang Min-ho (purse), Park Byung-ho (first baseman), Ryu Ji-hyuk (second baseman), Jeon Byung-woo (third baseman), and Lee Sung-kyu (right fielder). [Daejeon = Lee Han-joo, MK Sports Reporter] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, visited Daegu and Gyeongbuk on the 4th and expressed frustration, saying, "Even though my hometown is Gyeongbuk, there are people who sometimes look away," and added, "Did I really do something big enough to be hated?" As the Supreme Court reversed and repatriated its violation of the Public Official Election Act to the purpose of conviction, judicial risks reignited, it is interpreted as an expression of unfairness. Candidate Lee refrains from mentioning judicial risks that have rekindled during the listening tour. "I'm an elected candidate and the election is held by the party and the election committee," he said on the 3rd. "The party will deal with the enemy (適宜, appropriately) according to the will of the people." Meanwhile, on the same day, candidate Lee announced a pledge to support small business owners and self-employed people led by the government on Facebook. "Small business owners and self-employed people are on the verge of survival," he said. "We have endured COVID-19, three high (high prices, high interest rates, high exchange rates), and an endless slump in domestic demand, but we have been directly hit by illegal civil war." As a specific pledge, candidate Lee proposed △ state-led COVID-19 loan cancellation and debt adjustment △ support for small business owners affected by martial law △ expansion of local currency and Onnuri gift certificates △ support for rent, labor, and energy costs △ support for closing costs. "Only when small business owners live, people's livelihoods and the economy will be revived," he said. "We will create an environment where small business owners and self-employed people who are tired of sluggish prices and long-term domestic demand can reduce the burden and increase sales." Jung Min-sung (Samsung Lions) and Ryu Hyun-in (Sangmu) have been honored with the monthly Medi Hill Futures Rookie Award. The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced on the 4th that "Jeong Min-sung (WAR 1.86) in the pitching category and Ryu Hyun-in (WAR 2.71) in the batter category were selected as the first winners of the 2025 Medi Hill KBO Futures (second division) League Monthly Medi Hill Futures Rookie Award." Chung Min-sung, a Gunsan Sangil High School graduate, is a second-year player selected by Samsung in the fourth round of the 2024 rookie draft. In March and April, he pitched in 7 Futures League games and played 32.2 innings (first in the South), and showed a powerful pitch that overwhelmed hitters with an ERA of 3.58 (first overall) and 46 strikeouts (first overall). Sangmu Ryu Hyun-in was selected by KT Wiz as the 70th in the seventh round of the 2023 rookie draft after passing through Jinheung High School and Dankook University. He joined Sangmu in June last year and has been consistently active in the Futures League. Ryu Hyun-in, who played in 24 Futures League games from March to April, showed off his unrivaled batting sense with a batting average of 0.500 (No. 1 overall). In addition, he received his first rookie award of the season by posting outstanding performances in all categories, including a slugging percentage of 0.750 (No. 1 in the south), a on-base percentage of 0.590 (No. 1 in the south), 26 RBIs (No. 4 in the south), and five home runs (No. 5 in the south). Jung Min-sung and Ryu Hyun-in, the winners of the monthly MediHill Futures Rookie Award from March to April, will be offered a commemorative trophy, along with a prize of 500,000 won and a MediHill Cosmetics product worth 500,000 won. Meanwhile, the monthly MediHill Futures Rookie Award was first established in 2024 with the support of MediHill, the title sponsor of the Futures League. It was designed to encourage younger players who play in the Futures League and to support the development of growing promising players. The award criteria are for players who have met the stipulated innings or the stipulated at-bats in the Futures League among players in their first to third years of joining, and are awards for selecting the best pitcher and batter based on the monthly WAR of the Futures League. A wildfire that initially broke out on Monday in the southeastern South Korean city of Daegu reignited on Wednesday, prompting authorities to issue evacuation alerts for nearby residents and a nationwide mobilization order. The blaze that started Monday afternoon on Mount Hamji in northern Daegu, roughly 230 kilometers southeast of Seoul, was put out nearly 23 hours later on Tuesday afternoon, after burning through 260 hectares of land and prompting the evacuation of over 2,000 residents. However, on Tuesday evening, the fire flared up again in certain areas of the mountain. Yonhap News reported that since reigniting, the fire has been spreading, with the estimated fire line now stretching approximately 2.1 kilometers (about 1.3 miles), citing the Korea Forest Service (KFS). At around 5.13 pm on Wednesday (0813GMT), the authorities have issued an emergency alert, warning residents living nearby to evacuate as a precaution, with nearly 190 personnel and 41 helicopters deployed to extinguish the blaze. Last month, at least 30 people were killed and around 40 injured as wildfires swept through Gyeongsang Province, forcing thousands to flee their homes. The blaze was fully contained after 10 days. About 48,000 hectares (118,611 acres) of woodland -- equivalent to about 80% of the size of Seoul -- were scorched, marking the worst wildfire disaster recorded in the country's history. National Main blaze of Daegu wildfire extinguished after 23 hours Fire in Daegu affected 260 hectares of woodland -- equivalent to 364 soccer fields Fire authorities battling another wildfire in Daegu brought it under control around 1 p.m., Tuesday, 23 hours after the blaze was reported to have broken out. According to the Korea Forest Service, the fire, which began at 2:01 p.m. on Monday at Hamjisan, was declared to be largely extinguished on Tuesday, affecting 260 hectares of woodland -- equivalent to 364 soccer fields. Though no casualties have been reported so far, the blaze prompted the evacuation of some 2,000 residents in nearby areas. Temporary traffic restrictions were put in place at a nearby highway interchange, which was reopened Tuesday as conditions stabilized. Three schools, which were also temporarily closed on Tuesday, will also reopen the following day, according to the city’s Education Office. As damage assessments continue, authorities warned that the scale of damage could rise depending on inspections. In the meantime, the Daegu City Government stated that it will install a support center to accurately assess the scale of the damage while also providing support for recovery efforts and psychological counseling for affected civilians. To address concerns about the rise of potential floods due to forest destruction during the summer heavy rain season, the city added that it will also continue emergency forest restoration measures, as well as countermeasures to address possible water pollution caused by ashes from the wildfire. Though determining the cause of the fire requires further investigation, fire authorities told the press on site Tuesday that it “seems unlikely that the fire was caused due to natural ignition.” Police investigations were immediately prompted to apprehend the suspect who caused the fire. During Tuesday’s press briefing, fire authorities added that the location where the fire broke out was not a hiking trail, but was confirmed to be a rural road that residents can use freely. It was designated as a restricted access zone for hikers under an administrative order issued by the Daegu City Government. Only a few residents had been using the road for purposes such as tending vegetable plots. “Individuals responsible for causing fires in areas restricted under administrative order could face aggravated penalties,” said Lim Ha-soo, a senior official at the Korea Forest Service, on Tuesday. Due to strong winds ranging between 10 to 15 meters per second and dry conditions, the scale of the fires quickly grew Monday evening. However, as wind speeds minimized to 1 to 3 m/s, the fires were eventually contained with the help of two Surion helicopters, which are capable of extinguishing fires at night unlike other firefighting helicopters. “As winds weakened significantly overnight, the nighttime firefighting progress greatly improved,” Lim added. “The two Surion helicopters deployed overnight played a major role.” Moving forward, the Korea Forest Service plans to consider deploying Surion helicopters during nighttime wildfire operations in situations where safety can be ensured. communications systems with a shift to Riedel’s intercom technology The installation by South Korean distributor Dasan SR features Riedel’s all-IP Artist-1024 matrix and Bolero wireless intercom systems enhancing both production quality and operational efficiency throughout the concert hall “The Riedel intercom solution has transformed our communication capabilities,” says Mi Chu Cho Arts Department at the Daegu Concert House Riedel’s Artist-1024 is easy to configure and troubleshoot in real time and it also provides superior audio quality and reliability By eliminating coverage and performance issues this upgrade to Artist and Bolero systems allows us to focus on delivering world-class performances rather than on our communications technology.” the installation includes the Artist-1024 matrix which offers density and flexibility with support for up to 1024 ports Complementing this are two RSP-2318 and four DSP-2312 SmartPanels which provide intuitive user interfaces via high-resolution complete with eight antennas and 10 beltpacks ensures reliable communication and crystal-clear voice transmission throughout the venue The Bolero system has proved particularly effective in overcoming the limitations of the venue’s previous intercom systems The system’s robust RF performance prevents audio errors and dropouts even in the presence of large crowds — a crucial factor for the renowned concert venue the Bolero system’s extended antenna coverage and longer battery life outperform those of alternative solutions while eliminating the need for additional hardware such as transceiver splitters Dasan SR created multiple virtual Bolero presets for each beltpack in the venue’s Grand Hall and Chamber Hall With the Bolero network divided into different 2G4 hopping modes users can seamlessly connect to the appropriate antenna in each hall The Bolero beltpack automatically links to the designated ports for that specific hall This intelligent configuration allows for flexible use of the beltpacks without the need for manual reconfiguration significantly streamlining operations and enhancing user experiences across the venue “With the ability to create virtual profiles and deliver unparalleled RF robustness we have resolved long-standing communication challenges for the venue,” says David JooYoung Jeon “We’re proud to have facilitated this transformation which not only enhances the Daegu Concert House’s operations but also sets a new benchmark for intercom solutions in Korean theaters The success of this installation is a testament to the power of our experience and close collaboration with Riedel.” The Daegu Concert House team first encountered Riedel products at KOSOUND 2023 and subsequently participated in multiple training seminars at Dasan SR headquarters This hands-on experience played a crucial role in the decision to adopt Riedel’s intercom ecosystem “We are thrilled to bring Riedel’s state-of-the-art intercom technology to the Daegu Concert House,” says Vincent Lambert “This installation showcases the capabilities of the Artist and Bolero systems while also demonstrating our commitment to providing tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of performing arts venues As a first-of-its-kind installation in South Korea this project surely will have a significant impact on the country’s broader performing arts culture.” © [YONHAP] National Pilot killed in firefighting helicopter crash in Daegu A firefighting helicopter crashed Sunday while battling a wildfire in the southeastern city of Daegu, killing the pilot aboard, the fire service said. The helicopter went down on a mountain in a northwestern district of Daegu, about 230 kilometers southeast of Seoul, at 3:41 p.m., according to firefighting authorities. The helicopter had been deployed to help extinguish a fire in the Seobyeon-dong area, which had erupted earlier that afternoon. However, the aircraft crashed about 100 meters away from the wildfire scene, according to fire service reports. The helicopter involved in the crash was a 44-year-old Bell 206L model, as confirmed by the Daegu Dong-gu Office. Law enforcement and relevant authorities are planning to investigate the exact cause of the crash, including questioning witnesses, once the site has been secured and the recovery operation completed. The incident comes just days after another firefighting helicopter, also with one pilot aboard, crashed while battling a large wildfire in Uiseong County, located in the southeastern region. The crash on March 26 also resulted in the death of the pilot.
