Post Courier a thrilling two-day lawn bowling tournament named in honour of Geua Tau the first gold medallist for PNG at the 1991 Commonwealth Games is set to take place on November 30 to December 1 at the Bisini Lawn Bowls Club in Port Moresby As the defending champions for the past two years the Bisini bowlers are eager to defend their title at this year’s competition Team Captain Fred Koesan said: “We have been in training focusing on our game plan and are ready to defend our title this year.” The team will also be debuting their new uniforms kindly sponsored by Ingenious Link “They approached us with their need for new uniforms especially for this last tournament of the year so we were excited to design them a new lot,” said Kenneth Cavalera The Bisini Bowlers is a mixed group of talented and dedicated athletes that include Captain Fred Koesan and Gabriel Saimeo who also serves as the Secretary of the Bisini Bowling Club Pomex Pomaleu and the remarkable female duo bowlers Kila Walo and Raimo Walo The Bisini Bowlers are experienced players on both the national and international greens who have been playing for many years with a few of the team members representing PNG at the 2018 Commonwealth Games the 2022 National Championships and the 2023 World Championships & National Championships The standard of skill is sure to be an eye opener at this month’s Geua Cup tournament Kila & Raimo Walo stand out as the prominent female competitor duo who have successfully navigated the challenges of a traditionally male-dominated sport the duo’s role on the team underscores the increasing inclusivity within the bowling community and serves as a compelling source of inspiration for aspiring female athletes across PNG Ingenious Link’s Systems Admin & Coms Specialist added “There are so many sports teams in PNG that are underfunded yet have so much potential so we’re happy to be able to help in whatever way we can.” The Bisini Bowlers are not only focused on the trophy but they also aim to honour the legacy of Geua Tau and inspire the next generation of bowling athletes they hope to make history once again on the bowling green at the end of this month during the 2024 Geua Tau Cup Tournament Get the latest news delivered straight to your inbox!
