“I don’t want there to be any more endangered species
In the 907 Climate Justice March along Seoul’s Gangnam Boulevard on Saturday
14-year-old Kim Seo-eun performed a dance in a stork mask
Speaking with Hankyoreh in a telephone interview on Sunday
“It makes me so sad to think that we and the babies that are born in the future will be living in an increasingly worse environment.”
the second-year student at Yeonggwang Girls’ Middle School in Yeongju
stood on meter-high stilts dressed as an Oriental stork
one of Korea’s most recognized endangered species
As she energetically flapped her wings with fellow middle school students dressed as storks
she was astonished at the spectacle of the march through the heart of Gangnam
I could see that it was absolutely packed with people all the way into the distance on both sides,” she recalled
adding that she “really got a sense of how many people are concerned about the climate crisis.”
Kim was one of a number of young people in the Yeongju and Sangju regions of North Gyeongsang Province who attended a performing arts camp by Namoodak Movement Lab
which works in the field of environmental theater
they appeared dressed not only as storks but as long-billed plovers — another endangered species — and as huinsumaja (Gobiobotia naktongensis)
a native species of fish that can only live in Grade 2 water environments or higher
All of these animals were ones that used to be common in Naeseong Stream
a body of water near Kim’s home in Yeongju
Naeseong Stream was a clean waterway with sand flowing through
but its face changed after the building of the Yeongju Dam as part of the Four Major Rivers Restoration Project
“I have a friend who developed a skin condition after swimming in the Naeseong Stream by my home,” Kim explained
“As I saw the water in Naeseong Stream becoming dirty in a way it wasn’t in the past
I got the sense that environmental pollution is getting worse
and that this relates more broadly to the climate crisis,” she added
She went on to say she would “definitely take part in next year’s climate march if I have the opportunity.”
An estimated 30,000 people marched in the Gangnam area that day
The 907 Climate Justice March organizing committee said the total was “well above” the 20,000 participants it had initially predicted
the site was filled to capacity as participants began arriving in droves from throughout Korea around 1 pm
attendees started at the Seoul metropolitan subway’s Gangnam Station and proceeded toward Samseong Station
passing by Yeoksam and Seolleung Stations and POSCO Intersection along the way
The route in question is home to the headquarters of many major corporations responsible for large shares of greenhouse gas emissions
the march featured vocal participation by members of future generations: the young children and adolescents who are expected to be directly impacted by the climate crisis
Youth 4 Climate Action member Yoon Hyeon-jeong
29 judgment by the Constitutional Court that found a framework act for carbon neutrality to be “inconsistent with the Constitution.”
We need to create a front line to protect our lives,” Yoon said
a 14-year-old resident of Seoul’s Mok-dong neighborhood
“I’ve heard that if the climate crisis gets worse
we’ll never get to see any more of those polar bears that I’ve seen as Coca-Cola mascots since I was little.”
“My friends and I decided to take part in the march after thinking about what we could do for the Earth,” she explained
we saw a video on how trees keep disappearing from the Amazon
The hot temperatures this summer gave me a real sense that the climate change topic isn’t just something affecting faraway countries.”
Young people have been taking part in ever greater numbers in the climate marches
which started in 2019 and marked their fourth edition this year
“Participation by young people was definitely up this year compared with past years,” said Lee Yeong-gyeong
leader of the organizing committee’s planning team
there have been more and more attending through climate and environment clubs
we had a lot of cases of alternative schools where [participants] attended in [entire] school units
but now there are more people coming from regular schools,” she explained
saying that the students “arrived with hand-made banners with the school’s name written on it.”
“Some of the people who were here last year just as participants are back flying flags or volunteering in other ways,” said Kim Bo-rim
“It feels like there’s been a definite surge in participation by young people.”
“Especially while working on the national opinion canvassing campaign during the climate lawsuit
I realized that there were a lot of young people who were participating in a range of activities in their own neighborhoods and trying to effect real change.”
“Of the 5,000 people who took part in the campaign
Climate action by young people is undeniably linked to the impact that climate change will have on their lives
The teenagers of today will be on this post-climate change earth longer than those who are adults today
the climate crisis is a human rights crisis
“We who stand on the front line of the climate crisis are not ‘future generations,’ but citizens who are making change right now,” said Su-yeong
an activist with Youth Rights Society NAEDA who helped write the “Youth Rights Climate Justice Declaration” that was announced ahead of the march
youth rights are connected to climate justice
Bringing an end to the structure in which humanity exploits nature
resources and animals in one way of enacting climate justice,” she said

Coupang Play series "Newtopia" unveiled a still from Ji-Soo
who returned to her bold bear-shin girlfriend "Yeongju," who has a straight instinct to cross a group of zombies
The Coupang Play series "Newtopia" is a story of soldier Jae-yoon and Gomsin Yeongju running to each other across downtown Seoul
Global star Ji-Soo has returned to her bold Gomsin girlfriend
"Yeongju," who runs toward her boyfriend even if the world collapses
The released still depicts the college days when the engineering goddess "Yeongju" was happy with her eyes anytime
the fear of sudden appearance of zombies is conveyed intact through the appearance of fear and tears
but Young-joo's bold appearance of running through them to her boyfriend was revealed
raising questions about whether she could reunite with Jae-yoon (Park Jung-min)
"I fell in love with 'Yeongju' from the beginning
and I also had a desire to make the character live well
I hope we can have fun together while watching "Youngju" grow in various ways," he said
expressing his passion for the role of "Youngju." Director Yoon Sung-hyun said
"Ji-Soo's quirkyness and humor were 99% in sync with the 'Yeongju' I saw in the script
and I expressed it well beyond the 'Yeongju' I imagined," raising expectations for the confident and lovely 'Yeongju' that Ji-Soo will show
"Newtopia," which is raising the expectation index for Jisoo's "Zombom" challenge to the highest level
will be unveiled for the first time on Friday
Coupang Play series "Newtopia" released a still from the couple's chemistry between "Jae Yoon (Park Jung-min)" and "Yeongju (Jisoo)," which are more affectionate because they are separated from soldiers and gomsins
you can get a glimpse of the fresh love story of "Jae-yoon," a soldier who only thinks of "Yeong-ju" even when a group of zombies flock
and "Yeong-ju," a bold bear who runs toward his boyfriend even if the world collapses
the engineering goddess who received attention at any time and anywhere
was an ironclad man enough to reject Young-ju's group project proposal
"Yeongju" has also repeatedly turned a blind eye to "Jae-yoon," who is embarrassed by him
"Jae-yoon" is hired at the ice cream shop where "Yeongju" works
In a still that contains the moment "Youngju" conveys her heart to "Jae-yoon," the excitement and fresh tension before becoming a lover can be felt intact
and the chemistry between Park Jung-min and Jisoo
who seem to have become a real campus couple
can be felt as a lovely couple who finally became lovers
It makes us look forward to the chemistry of the two who completely completed the narrative of the couple who do not hide their straight instincts toward each other even if a group of zombies appears
At a production presentation held on the 7th
"What I admired about Ji-Soo was always smiling on the set
"I learned a lot from watching the scene," Ji-Soo said
and she came to the scene even though there was no filming session
and I was able to get immersed and act thanks to you," he said
signaling a perfect chemistry between the two in the work
The Coupang Play series "Newtopia," which announced the exciting meeting between popular actor Park Jung-min and global star Jisoo and the birth of a "Zombom" couple that stimulates love cells

National Gator sighting jolts idyllic town; search continues for 3rd day
The search continues for a purported alligator in an otherwise idyllic village in the southern city of Yeongju
after five people reported sightings of the reptile in a slow-moving stream that encircles the rural town
Despite having found no trace of a reptile
the city is not letting its guard down as of Friday
with four officials dispatched to monitor the vicinity of the purported sighting
It also plans to conduct a drone search of the area
“Since alligators cannot inhabit the natural environment in Korea
there is a possibility that someone intentionally released a pet alligator in the stream,” said a city official who wished to remain anonymous
four farm workers from the Philippines and a local resident witnessed an alligator measuring about a meter long while crossing a bridge that connects to Museom Village across Naeseong Stream
They told local authorities that the reptile briefly emerged from the water before submerging itself back into the stream
Officials from the city government launched a search the next day
but have not found any evidence to indicate the presence of a reptile habitat in the stream
The news of an alligator potentially inhabiting the stream that flows through the southern section of Yeongju jolted local residents
"Many parents were shocked by the news because the village is a popular spot for water activities among children
I will definitely not go near that area for the time being," said a 26-year-old man surnamed Kim residing in Yeongju
Online communities of mothers in Yeongju saw a flood of postings voicing concerns over the appearance of the alligator
“It’s scary that the alligator has not been captured yet,” one user wrote
if (the reptile) travels along the stream.”
The reptile scare is a particular concern for the village of Museom
Encircled by the stream and its sandy riverbanks on three sides
the lotus-shaped folk village of some 40 traditional houses has been one of the most popular tourist spots in Yeongju
502,839 locals and foreigners visited the village for sightseeing
according to data compiled by Yeongju City
About 20 of the village’s old houses are inhabited by locals

Yeongju had never considered whether she was suitable to be a bookseller
It was only when she started her own bookshop that she realized she had a serious shortcoming
She fumbled questions such as ‘Which book is good?’ and ‘What’s an interesting book?’ Once
she made a complete fool of herself when a man in his late forties sought her recommendation for a book
Salinger is really interesting,” she enthused
You know how some books make you throw your head back in laughter
This book isn’t interesting in that sort of way
climax or a central plot stitching the book together
The entire story follows a child’s thoughts and takes place over the span of a few days
I still find this book interesting,” she finished pathetically
The man looked so serious Yeongju felt a stab of nerves as she tried to explain
for the man simply thanked her and walked away
he approached the counter and bought Insights of Eurasia
Something he said before leaving the shop that day had remained on her mind ever since
“I’m sorry I asked a difficult question when everyone has their own preferences.”
A customer saying “I’m sorry” to a bookseller for seeking a recommendation when she should’ve been the one to apologize for her incompetence
It was an important lesson learnt: never to blindly recommend her own favorites to the customer
she brooded over it and came up with the following:
she still blanked occasionally at such requests
“Is there a book that’ll unclog a smothered heart?” Mincheol’s mother asked as she ordered an iced Americano
adding that she’d skipped her classes because she wasn’t in the mood for them
The request was too abstract but none of her prepared questions seemed at all appropriate
she cast around for something to ask and landed on the innocuous
“It’s been like this for the past few days
as if I’m stuffed with injeolmi rice cakes
She quickly gulped down half the iced Americano
but it didn’t bring light back to her eyes
running a bookshop made Yeongju privy to the most private matters of her customers
She’d read somewhere that authors often get people opening up to them
as if being a wordsmith somehow meant that they would understand things that even the closest of friends couldn’t
as if owning a bookshop was an accreditaion of exceptional emotional intelligence
She had seen the lanky high schooler on a few occasions
He’d inherited his mother’s pale face and when he smiled
My heart aches whenever I think of what he said.”
Mincheol said he had zero interest in anything – studying
While it wasn’t like he completely stopped doing any of these – he still studied when exams were around the corner
played games when he was bored and met his friends occasionally – he was indifferent to them all
he would return home straight after school
browse the Internet on his bed and drift off to sleep
“Is there no book that’ll help me?” Mincheol’s mother poked her straw in between the ice cubes and sucked up the last drops of coffee
There were plenty of stories about fatigue or being lost in one’s own world
could she suggest to a mother whose child was going through a teenage life crisis
she couldn’t come up with anything suitable
She couldn’t recall any novels about a mother and son
Not because she couldn’t find a suitable book
but because it suddenly hit her that she was the limiting factor of the bookshop
Hyunamdong Bookshop was tailored to her preferences as a reader
How could such a place be helpful to others
It’s about a mother and daughter living under the same roof who hate each other as much as they love each other
Being a parent and child doesn’t mean they’ll always understand and accommodate each other
even parents and their children should lead their own separate lives eventually.”
“This sounds intriguing,” said Mincheol’s mother
“I’ll get it.” She declined Yeongju’s offer to lend her the book first to see how she’d take to it
As Yeongju watched her leave with the book in hand
Is there a book that’ll unclog a smothered heart
“I have to run but I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed the book
although not as much as Amy and Isabelle.”
as if her thoughts had drifted far away and when she spoke again
where the mother kept calling out for her daughter
thinking about how there’ll come a time when I’ll miss my child so much
I can’t hold him in my arms forever and a day
While it wasn’t quite the story she was looking for
Mincheol’s mother had enjoyed what Yeongju somewhat hesitantly recommended
but the book brought back memories of her mother and nudged her to reflect on how to handle her relationship with her son
Her recommendations might not be what the customers hoped for
“It’s still good,” perhaps she had done a good job
suggesting a novel about a high school student – even if it’s one of the best literary novels with social commentary – to a middle-aged ajusshi who enjoyed non-fiction history titles could still be a no go
when he wanted to better understand his children
he might recall being recommended such a book and seek it out
Recalling Mincheol’s mother’s red-rimmed eyes

apparently loosened by days of heavy rains
crashed into a hillside house in southwestern Korea on Friday
killing a 14-month-old baby girl buried under earth.Ten people
when the mudslide crashed down the roof and wall of the house at 4:43 a.m
and firefighters pulled her out around 7 a.m
after two hours of rescue operations. The baby was then taken to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest
police said. The other nine family members were referred to a senior center nearby after the rescue
and city officials plan to check on their health condition and provide mental counseling
"The bed the baby was lying in was completely engulfed in a pile of dirt," the baby's father told Yonhap News Agency at a mourning altar set up at a funeral house
"Dirt and water kept pouring into the house
and we really couldn't do anything."He said it was right after he woke up to the sound of trees breaking and turned the light on that soil crashed into the home."I tried to save my wife and child while blocking the crumbling wall with my body," he said
The wife was saved with the help of other family members
he said with a choked-up voice. The tragedy came just one month after the three-generational family had thrown a party celebrating the child's first birthday
according to a neighbor. The house hit by the mudslide had not seen major damage through typhoons or monsoon while the family lived there for decades
but the victim's family claimed that soil and water started trickling down to their house after a neighboring thatched hut above the hill was torn down a year ago
They had even installed a makeshift plastic tent to prevent the mounds from crossing over.Neighbors also said there was a similar mudslide accident a few years back
saying the tragedy on Friday was a foreseen event
About 203 millimeters of rain has fallen in Yeongju from Thursday to Friday afternoon
and the vicinity of where the accident took place recorded 333 mm of rainfall so far.Forty-three people from 15 households have evacuated from their homes due to fears of mudslides
and five cars were buried at a construction site but dragged out
Traffic was blocked on multiple flooded roads and a small bridge also collapsed due to flooding.A heavy rain watch was issued in the southeastern city
with reports of over 100 cases of house flooding as of 7 a.m

Until Mr Crapser’s fate was reported in a documentary broadcast by South Korea’s MBC-TV last year
Mdm Kwon did not even know that the son she gave up in 1978 had been in the United States
the boy she called Shin Song-hyuk was one of 200,000 South Korean children sent abroad for adoption since the end of the Korean War
South Koreans have lamented their country’s international reputation as a leading baby exporter
But in a society that held deep prejudices against single mothers and children born outside marriage
sending children abroad was often the best option for poor South Korean women
some have returned to South Korea as adults
Some of the most wrenching stories have come from those who were deported back to South Korea
they were abused or abandoned by their adoptive parents
Only after they ran afoul of the law did they learn that they were not US citizens
their parents having never filed citizenship paperwork for them
Officials at South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare say they know of at least five adoptees who were deported back from the United States
But advocates for Korean adoptees say there may be more than twice as many
Tossed back to a country they had left decades ago
these adoptees were once again foreigners struggling to adapt to an unfamiliar culture and language
The television documentary that reported Mr Crapser’s plight also included the story of a 44-year-old adoptee named Mr Monte Haines
who served in the US military in the 1990s
He was deported to South Korea in 2009 after he was caught driving a truck carrying illegal drugs
Some adoptees had severe mental illnesses and became homeless when they returned to a country that was never truly their home

The carpenter often kicked and punched Mdm Kwon
and he eventually abandoned her and her young children
Her father was too poor to take her and her children in
she gave her youngest son to a childless family
to a local orphanage that arranged adoptions
She saw her children playing with toys and other children
and left without saying goodbye for fear they would follow her
but I had no one to turn to for help,” Mdm Kwon said
Mdm Kwon worked in a plastics factory in Seoul
She kept a couple of black-and-white photos of her children
She would remember the days when she fetched water from the village well — spilling so much because of her leg that she had to make multiple trips — to give her babies a bath
or the times when they devoured what little food she could provide
usually rice mixed with soy sauce and cooking oil
especially when it rained or snowed or when the sky was overcast,” she said
“But the belief that they were having a better life somewhere than I could ever provide has sustained me.”
Mdm Kwon later married a widower 20 years her senior
She said she had dedicated herself to caring for his two daughters as if they were her own
believing that she was doing what adoptive parents were doing for her own children
She also gave birth to four more daughters
She now lives in a low-slung house with another man
whom she married and who helped her raise her daughters
she began using crutches or an electric wheelchair when traveling outside
she drags a plastic chair to lean on for support
Mdm Kwon got a call from a relative who remembered Song-hyuk and had watched the television documentary
Mr Crapser called out for his birth mother
Mdm Kwon contacted the documentary’s producer
who arranged a video chat between the mother and son
and a DNA test to confirm their relationship
communicated with his biological mother through an interpreter
He expects to be deported in the coming weeks and will reunite with his mother
who plans to decorate a small room in her house for her son
thinking of what she would tell her son and what she should feed him when he arrives

Experts say Korea must now wake up to dangers lurking in mountains and hills in the face of increasingly frequent extreme weather events
Firefighters carry out a rescue operation after a house was destroyed by landslides in Yeongju
SEOUL – When torrential rain continues for days
hillside homes can be just as dangerous as riverside dwellings
This served as a painful lesson for South Korea
as several landslides caused casualties across the country
The record July downpour has left 50 people dead or missing nationwide as of 11 a.m
21 fatalities and six missing cases were reported in North Gyeongsang Province
where landslides devastated several hillside villages
Twelve of the province’s casualties were claimed by mudslides
10 victims faced the unexpected disaster in areas not designated as “vulnerable to landslides,” highlighting a significant flaw in the nation’s landslide preparedness
Experts say Korea must now wake up to dangers lurking in mountains and hills covering 70 percent of the country’s landscape
in the face of increasingly frequent extreme weather events
“Residents often lack awareness about potential dangers in their surroundings that could trigger landslides,” Lee Su-gon
a renowned landslide expert and former civil engineering professor at the University of Seoul
pointing out that numerous homes sit at the foot of mountains or near valley streams
houses the highest number of residents living in landslide-prone areas at 9,977
followed by Gyeonggi Province and South Gyeongsang Province
The province has approximately 5,000 areas designated as “vulnerable to landslides.”
The latest tragedies have revealed the need for the local authority to revise its designation standards to address potential blind spots
an official at the provincial government told The Herald
“Most casualties have been reported in areas not cautioned about possible landslides,” the official said
Authorities sent out text messages to residents
warning them about the potential risks of floods
landslides and other disasters that could be triggered by heavy rainfall
But communication via text messages fell short of adequately alerting them to the impending danger
The North Gyeongsang official noted that most of the available personnel were allocated to densely populated regions rather than remote areas
admitting their limited capacity to guide and assist residents in case of evacuation
Regarding the casualties resulting from landslides
the official reasoned that people did not take the notifications seriously due to the absence of previous landslide incidents in their regions
many of the local residents are elderly who are not accustomed to relying on their mobile phones for information
Statistics Korea reveals that the population of individuals aged over 65 constituted 20.7 percent in 2020 in North Gyeongsang Province and is projected to rise to 25.7 percent in 2025 and to exceed 43.9 percent in 2045
vividly recalled the events of Saturday night when he made announcements through outdoor speakers after receiving emergency text messages
he could not prevent the loss of two lives in the village due to landslides
“We have never seen such landslides before in at least 50 years
People were not aware of the potential risks,” Song said
How could have they possibly escaped from the house?”
Landslide risks are not confined to rural villages
Mountains are a prominent feature in Korean cities
with Seoul alone being home to 14 peaks surpassing 300 meters in height
the total number exceeds 100 throughout the city
torrential rains triggered landslides at the 290-meter Umyeonsan in southern Seoul
emphasized the importance of step-by-step measures to establish a comprehensive system to effectively prevent and respond to landslides
“The current systems do not adequately consider key geomorphological
geological and geotechnical factors specific to Korea,” he said
It is important to note that landslides are caused not only by natural factors
“The designated areas in fact have little relation to human losses because it excludes areas altered by human activities
which can result in human-influenced landslides,” he said
Regarding the extensive nationwide research required to pinpoint dangerous areas
a task that could take approximately 54 years if carried out solely by the state-run Korea Forest Service
Lee emphasizes the role of local residents who have a better understanding of their local geography
“involving local residents would help in sending more specific and accurate emergency text messages
considering the dynamic nature of natural environments
which cannot be continuously monitored by government officials
local residents are required to actively participate in reporting to the national disaster prevention system.”
“The thickness of weathered soil is relatively shallow in Korea
and observations at numerous debris flow sites indicate that the vertical extent of damage to trees and buildings is often to a height of 1 or 2 meters
protection to a height of 2 meters is likely to be effective in the majority of cases.”

Danyang or Yeongju: The Birthplace of Jeong Dojeon
If Ondal Tourist Area reminded me of Achasanseong Fortress in Seoul
Dodam Sambong reminded me of Sambong Road and Sambong Library in Jongno
while Ondalsanseong is a kind of competition to Achasanseong
Dodam Sambong is not in conflict with Jeong Dojeon(JDJ)'s Sambong-related facilities
There is a theory that Sambong JDJ was born in Danyang and that his father traveled to Gaekyung while working as a government official
and another that he was born in Yeongju and that Danyang was his only home
There is a fierce debate in Danyang and Yeongju about this
it sounds like a different story as to whether Jejongwon
the first modern medical facility in Korea
was the predecessor of Severance Hospital (Yonsei University College of Medicine) or Seoul National University Hospital (Seoul National University College of Medicine)
Jejongwon was the first Western-style royal hospital founded by King Gojong in 1885
a missionary from the Presbyterian Church of the North who saved Min Young-ik after he was injured in a thyroid crisis in 1884
which was built by Joseon but operated by the Presbyterian Church of the North
While Yonsei University's argument is that the operation of Jejongwon was transferred to the Presbyterian Church of the North in 1895
leading to the later establishment of Severance by the Presbyterian Church of the North
Seoul National University emphasizes Gojong's role and claims that national education in modern medicine can be traced back to Jejongwon Medical Center
and that Seoul National University Hospital inherits the authenticity of a national modern medical facility and a national modern medical education institution.
It may not matter to those who are one step away
but both Severance and Seoul National University hospitals still claim their authenticity on their websites and through their respective exhibition halls
Both hospitals are unwilling to back down on this issue
as it is directly related to their legitimacy
Seoul National University Hospital has a huge stone boulder in front of its main building called Jejongwon T'rak
and Severance has reproduced the shape of Jejongwon and used it as a "Yonsei History Garden" (Sukyungjae)
revealing that Jejongwon is the root of Yonsei University (Yonsei + Severance)
there is a marker stone marking the site where the first Jejongwon was built.
For those who claim that JDJ's hometown was Danyang
JDJ lost his parents in the same year and lived in his hometown lordship for nearly four years
he returned to his home on Samgaksan Mountain to train his successors
so he called it Sambong Mountain after the shape of the mountain
and the academy he ran was called Sambongjae
it is claimed that JDJ's first government job was in neighboring Chungju
he consoled himself at Dodam Sambong and built a pavilion
In the absence of a clear record of JDJ's birth
claims are made through one or two episodes
as in the debate between Achasanseong and Ondalsanseong.
The logo of Danyang County is a combination of Dodamsambong and Seokmun
It is more meaningful than any other local government's logo
and for those who are familiar with Chinese characters
and for those who have strong memories of the nationalist novel "Novel Dan"
the history of Danyang Station is designed accordingly
It is said to represent the towering general's peak in the center and the concubine's and concubine's peaks on the left and right
but it is not as impressive as Dodamsambong
which is depicted in the logo of Danyang-gun.
I heard that the road to Seokmun was rough
so I headed to Seokmun first when I arrived
which is also said to be a weathered limestone formation
The view of the village and Namhan River on the other side through the stone gate was like a framed landscape painting.
The Dodamsambong we see now is very different from the Dodamsambong painted by Kim Hongdo
the lower part was submerged as the water level rose
the rocks towering over the river like sails on a yacht evoked mythical imagination.
Dodamsambong is not just three rocks at a specific point on the Namhang River
but a peaceful scene that blends in with the village across the street
and the Namhang River spreading out to the left and right
Although there is a parking lot for tourists in the back and
the area overlooking Dodam Sambong is better preserved than I expected
especially since the village across the street is quiet and unobtrusive.
The disappointment of Sambong Story Museum
the Sambong Story Museum was located at the entrance to the parking lot
On the third floor of a shopping mall along the way
which runs various tourist facilities and programs in Danyang
I was nervous because there weren't many people inside
"What did they do here before?" So I tried to enter
but there was a person working outside the ticket office because there weren't many people visiting
there were not many stories about Jeongdojeon
and the Dodam Sambong itself did not show anything more than what was in the wiki or tourist guide.
The lack of stories about Dodamsambong itself leads to similar content everywhere
but no matter where you go or what you see
you will quickly move on if there is a low density of about half the same content.
If Dodamsambong alone does not provide enough content
I wonder if it would have been better if it had been conceptualized as a place to introduce Danyang and organized a little more densely
given that Dodamsambong is the first scripture of the Eight Scriptures of Danyang
serving as a starting point for the Eight Scriptures of Danyang
considering the human and physical limitations of a small base municipality
I think it will not be easy to discover better content and update it continuously
but I think it is a waste considering the size and space of the story hall
and the spatial organization that gives the impression of a space with low content density needs to be improved through lighting and the arrangement of exhibits.

After six days of silence, the popular YouTube channel Psick University has issued a formal apology for comments made in a recent video that disparaged the region of Yeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
The controversy began with their video titled "Made in Gyeongsangbuk-do, Yeongju Edition" published on May 11, which led to widespread criticism from viewers and local residents.
In the video, Psick University members, comedians Jeong Jae-hyeong, Kim Min-soo, and Lee Yong-ju, were seen making several disrespectful remarks about Yeongju, comparing it unfavorably to other places and making jokes that were seen as derogatory. Their comments included jokes about the area resembling China, criticisms about the lack of uniqueness in local food, and unpleasant remarks about the scenery and local practices.
As backlash grew, the channel faced significant pressure to address the issue. The video even caught the attention of local business owners and the mayor of Yeongju, escalating the controversy further. On May 18, Psick University responded by posting a lengthy apology on their YouTube community tab.
In their statement, they expressed remorse for the offensive content, acknowledging that their attempt to emphasize the quiet and tranquil nature of Yeongju for comedic effect was misguided and resulted in inappropriate expressions that failed to consider the feelings of local residents and small business owners. They specifically retracted statements that mocked the local cuisine and cultural attributes, admitting these did not serve the comedic purpose intended and were instead hurtful.
Psick University also mentioned that members Jeong Jae-hyeong, Kim Min-soo, and Lee Yong-ju personally visited the affected bakery and restaurant to apologize directly to the proprietors. They extended their apologies to the citizens of Yeongju, government officials working in the area, and their viewers who were disturbed by the content.
The channel concluded their apology by acknowledging their responsibility in the matter and expressed their intention to learn from this experience to create content that is both humorous and respectful. They reassured their audience that they would take this incident as a learning opportunity to improve their content and be more mindful of the impact their words and actions have on various communities.

LOL. Seoul Koreans hating on the rest of the country...smh...no wonder the rest of the country don't enough have proper medical facilities, that rural Koreans are forced to travel to Seoul if they need advanced treatment for anything. South Korea doesn't need enemies - they have Seoul Koreans LOL. The cunt in the comments excusing them for being comedians clearly has no clue about the Seoul / Rest of Korea divide.
the restaurant was closed. they dropped the "but im a famous youtuber" line until they were allowed to eat there in private. some of their comments were just messed up. some of their comments were just normal reviews, but they shouldnt have said them in this case seeing as how they manipulated the poor man just to get in there. i hope they finally actually contacted him in person. he said they hadnt. they are trash for this.
