Cairo: A wanted man in Kuwait has been killed in an exchange of fire with police during an arrest attempt
The Kuwaiti Interior Ministry said after police had specified the place of the wanted person and during the arrest operation
he began shooting at the security personnel
The man was injured in the shootout and moved to the hospital where he died later
“The security personnel continue to make maximum efforts to pursue and arrest anyone
who tries to undermine the security and stability of the country,” said the ministry
stressing that safety and security of citizens and expatriates is a top priority
The man showed fierce resistance to his arrest and opened fire on the police
who had to return the fire and injured him
Undersecretary of the Criminal Security Sector at the ministry
told Al Rai newspaper that the offender was transferred to the Farwaniyah Hospital
The paper quoted security sources as saying that security forces had earlier got information specifying the location of the fugitive in Al Firdous area in Al Farwaniyah
The sources added that a unit of security forces barricaded him to apprehend him
police urged the public to cooperate with security agencies and report any information related to his whereabouts
Police said the man was wanted in connection to several cases
and warned that he posed a danger and had a weapon

Public utilities at some areas in Kuwait have been overwhelmed by recent heavy rains
The large quantities of rainwaters were beyond all expectations so infrastructure utilities could not resist
The Ministry of Interior’s operations center has received a total 20,027 rain-related contacts since the severe wave of heavy rains hit the country
the ministry’s undersecretary Isam A-Naham said
“We have set up operating rooms working round-the-clock
in addition to an administrative room in affected southern areas
we are creating rooms in northern areas in response to expected downpours,” he added
The official urged all citizens and residents to stay indoors due to bad weather forecasts for the coming hours
He also urged everyone to shrug off rumours and exaggerations about weather conditions and to seek reliable information instead
Kuwaiti National Guard Undersecretary Lieutenant General Hashim Al-Rifai said the Guard state of readiness has been uplifted since Tuesday
Guard units combed the sixth and seventh ring roads
engaged in pumping water out of Al-Farwaniyah and Adan Hospitals — in coordination with the Ministry of Defense
Large four-wheel vehicles have been employed to help in rescuing stranded citizens and expatriates and military vehicles have been used to transport people surrounded by waters in areas where ambulances cannot reach
He has affirmed that an “administrative zone” has been set up in the northern and southern regions to ensure preparedness of concerned personnel
Brigadier Adel Al-Rujaib of the army chairmanship of staff affirmed that the military have been lending support to the MoI
the Guard and the firemen to minimize impact of the deluge
The troops had been involved in various tasks
such as reopening blocked bridges and tunnels
