HOLLAND — Holland native James Lenger is making the process of making music easier
a graduate of Holland Christian and former Hope College student
Today — after a plethora of experiences in studying psychology
and mastering acting and improvisation — Lenger has given a sum total of 95,000 guitar lessons
But that's only part of the story for Lenger, who's also the founder of Sharp and Flat, a musical innovation hub that creates products to empower people (both with and without disabilities) to create and enjoy music more easily. Under that umbrella, Lenger has developed a number of patents and launched his first product: Strum Perfect
an attachment that helps guitar-hopefuls strum correctly
This fall, Lenger has big plans for the company’s next launch — a 12-week music therapy program called Theraplaying, using Strum Perfect, that’s meant to enhance the quality of life for people with Parkinson’s Disease through music-driven, therapeutic movements, all while utilizing the tools associated with Lakeshore Advantage’s SURGE Program
an economic development organization based in Holland and covering Allegan County and Ottawa County
recently completed work on a new headquarters downtown that includes space for start-ups like Sharp and Flat
Lenger and his team have found the benefits of Theraplaying are nearly endless
"I believe that people are put in your life at certain times," Lenger
who previously taught guitar students with Parkinson's
(to look) at the effect this work has on Parkinson's Disease and movement disorders and what we can do about that."
Lenger and his team are also working on a product called Platoverb
to create a redesign of the plate reverb effect found in high-end music studios
as well as technology meant to help those with severe hearing loss experience music like never before

the OSCE Programme Office in Astana (Office) organized an advanced Training of Trainers
for a group of ten new Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (hereinafter – UAV) instructors of Kazakhstan’s National Security Committee Border Service in Lenger
the Border Service established a Centre of Excellence for UAV operations in Lenger
where future capacity-building activities are planned to be held with the OSCE’s support
This training event marks the beginning of a series of support activities aimed to strengthen the development of aerial monitoring capabilities of the Border Service in combating the illicit trafficking of small arms and light weapons (hereinafter – SALW) and explosives across Kazakhstan’s “green borders” – i.e.
areas between official border control points
often covered with vegetation or only remotely accessible.
The ability to monitor these areas effectively is crucial for ensuring national security
preventing and countering illicit cross-border activities
making the training event for UAV instructors a vital step in ensuring sustainable border security management and national ownership
Based on the OSCE’s accumulated experience in the use of UAVs
including their use within the framework of the Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine (March 2014 – March 2022)
the Office aims to assist Kazakhstan’s authorities in ground monitoring by means of advanced technology
noted during the opening of the training event that “together with partners from Kazakhstan’s Border Service we have launched today the UAV Centre of Excellence in Lenger
It is a milestone for our co-operation within the framework of our work on countering the trafficking of small arms and light weapons
By handing over specialized equipment and knowledge sharing
the OSCE Programme Office in Astana provides critical advisory support in establishing sustainable UAV operations of the Border Service”
OSCE-supported experts shared their expertise on UAV technology
Practical exercises with small fixed-wing and quadcopter UAVs were conducted both during day and night settings
as well as in conditions of limited visibility
with the Office providing critical technical support by handing over specialized ICT equipment and two training UAVs for use in the classrooms and practical training area of the Centre
highlighted during the closing ceremony: “we have heeded the request of our national partners in tackling evolving security challenges of today
we can launch the active phase of our co-operation
The Centre of Excellence will serve as a platform for future generations of border service officers – to attain the necessary skills and knowledge in ensuring the sustainable use of new technologies when safeguarding the country’s borders
we are ready to continue this support with concrete steps
In line with recommendations of the OSCE’s Technical Assessment Report on “Development of UAV monitoring capabilities for the Border Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan”
the Office will continue to provide advisory support in establishing sustainable UAV operations
and creating a UAV service and maintenance plan for 2024-2030
This activity was held within the framework of the Office’s extrabudgetary project “Addressing Contemporary Safety and Security Risks in the Republic of Kazakhstan”
supported by the government of Federal Republic of Germany
— A music therapy program for Parkinson's patients is being developed at a startup in Holland
a music technology company founded by James Lenger
The patented and certified twelve-week guitar program is designed to reduce tremors, improve coordination and balance and enhance the emotional well-being of Parkinson's patients, according to the Theraplaying website
"I know what music meant to me," Lenger said in a Tuesday interview with FOX 17
"I think this is going to be something that will affect a lot of different people
Lenger is partnering with Hope College to study how music lessons affect the memory skills of people with Parkinson's disease
Sharp and Flat has also previously collaborated with Michigan State University
and the Tokyo University of Technology for research purposes
"He's driven and motivated and wants to make the world a better place," Nate Klooster
an assistant professor of psychology at Hope College
which is supported by a research grant from the college
will take place in the summer and involve Hope students
"Music is very complicated," Klooster said
It requires moving your fingers and arms in a certain sequence
complicated cognitive ability for any type of patient."
A retired medical doctor and Parkinson's patient
Brian Cote of Laketown Township is also assisting in the study and the launch of Theraplaying
in addition to taking guitar lessons from Lenger with the assistance of StrumPerfect
an attatchment from Sharp and Flat that helps beginners strum correctly
"My symptoms began with the inability to write a sentence or two
but now I'm exercising those fine motor movements through strumming and picking a guitar," Cote said
"The ER is full of stress and full of sleepless nights
two things that make [Parkinson's] worse," he said
Cote switched to urgent care shortly after and continued to practice medicine until his retirement in 2019
"I'm very thankful for that," he said about the slow onset of his Parkinson's symptoms
and I'm determined to take advantage of that by doing things like this."
In addition to how the hobby protects and strengthens the body's fine motor skills and fights against the "freezing" characteristic of Parkinson's through rhythm
time spent learning to play guitar can give people purpose
"There's an easy tendency to just become apathetic
to become anxious," Cote said about his diagnosis
also adding that caregivers play an instrumental role in the lives of Parkinson's patients
"I realized I had to find an enjoyable way to overcome that
Theraplaying is in the process of receiving approval for its services to be billable to insurance and Medicare
Lenger says it should be completed within the next two months
"This is a field in research that's fairly wide open right now
and we're discovering things that haven't been seen before."

It shouldn’t have a foreign policy or a domestic policy,” said the co-chair of a task force that recommended the policy
(JTA) — Harvard University will no longer issue statements on topics that are not directly relevant to its operations
on the advice of a task force convened amid tensions around the Israel-Hamas war
The Institutional Voice Working Group, formed last month to examine questions around when and how the school should weigh in on controversial and political issues, recommended the new policy in its first report, issued Tuesday. University leaders immediately said they accepted the recommendations
“Harvard isn’t a government. It shouldn’t have a foreign policy or a domestic policy,” Noah Feldman, a law professor and author of a recent book about contemporary Judaism who co-chairs the group, said in a university Q&A published after the decision was announced
the same month students launched a pro-Palestinian encampment on Harvard’s campus
Unlike at some schools, the controversy at Harvard did not begin with the university’s statements about the war
the administration faced criticism because it did not issue a statement for days after a coalition of student groups blamed Israel for Hamas’ deadly Oct
When the university did issue a statement expressing “heartbreak” over the attack and the ensuing war
denouncing the statement as “word salad approved by committee.”
Such a statement would not be issued under the new policy
The working group concluded that because statements expressing care can leave some feeling alienated
“the most compassionate course of action is therefore not to issue official statements of empathy.”
The working group consulted more than 1,000 members of the Harvard community before forming its recommendations
according to its announcement about its report
It concluded that the school’s credibility is compromised by statements that do not reflect expertise and that issuing statements on some topics means that school leaders “will inevitably come under intense pressure to do so from multiple
competing sides on nearly every imaginable issue of the day.”
Because it is unlikely that any statement will satisfy all members of the school’s community equally
issuing statements can “undermine the inclusivity of the university community,” the group concluded
“It may make it more difficult for some members of the community to express their views when they differ from the university’s official position.”
The school can and should comment on issues directly related to its mission and operations
“The university and its leaders should not
issue official statements about public matters that do not directly affect the university’s core function.” When there is a disagreement about whether an issue is appropriate for the university to comment on
it should refrain from issuing a statement
The group did not mention the current Israel-Hamas war explicitly in its report
but it did acknowledge the potential for student groups and others to ignite controversy with their own statements — and offered guidance about how to handle such an instance in the future
sometimes make statements that occasion strong disagreement,” the report says
the university should clarify that they do not speak for the university and that no one is authorized to speak on behalf of the university except the university’s leadership.”

A former New College of Florida Board of Trustees member who has spoken to a number of major donors about their giving plans since Gov
Ron DeSantis began transforming the school says 13 told her they are canceling more than $29 million in planned contributions
a huge financial blow to the small Sarasota college
A Sarasota resident who founded a plant leasing company in 1981 that grew out of her senior thesis at New College and now has 45 employees
Lenger also served on the New College Foundation board for 35 years
'Very, very huge question': New College scrambles for funds to pay Richard Corcoran's $699,000 salary
More: Meet the Trump-loving yacht lawyer who helped engineer DeSantis' New College takeover
donors started contacting Lenger to get more information about what was happening
A number shared their intentions to remove New College from their estate plans and stop other contributions
Lenger began keeping a list of canceled contributions
Of those who were willing to share the amount
she tallied more than $10 million from 11 donors as of Thursday
They all oppose what’s happening at the college under DeSantis’ appointees
they either have or quickly will change their estate plans," Lenger said in an email
"Candidly discussing accurate dollar amounts
After this article published online Friday
two more donors contacted Lenger to say they are rescinding planned contributions of $50,000 and $18.8 million
Lenger said she was "pretty floored" by the donor who said he is canceling his $18.8 million gift
The $18.8 million donor is somebody Lenger has known for a long time
He told Lenger the gift to New College was in his will
The $29 million in canceled contributions Lenger documented is big money for a small school with just 700 students and a relatively small donor base
New College's Foundation had $43.5 million in net assets in 2019 and received $2.4 million in total revenue that year
the most recent year that IRS records are available
The new board members appointed by DeSantis say the changes they are pushing will help bring more taxpayer resources to New College
DeSantis and the GOP-controlled Legislature will be more likely to fund a school that is more accommodating to conservatives
DeSantis already has steered an additional $15 million in state money to New College for the current budget year
Yet Lenger's tally indicates that whatever boost New College gets in state funding could be partially offset by a big loss in private donations
hurting the school's ability to fund a range of programs that typically are financed by the Foundation
including student scholarships and faculty supplements
a DeSantis appointee who now chairs New College's Board of Trustees
said there also will be a push to collect more private donations
That money likely would have to come from conservative donors who support DeSantis and his plans for New College
the Foundation has not announced any new major gifts
Interim President Richard Corcoran sent an email to alumni Friday
"We need your continued support and commitment," Corcoran wrote
"Charitable giving to higher education is an investment in the future of not only our state
I understand that the past few months have likely led to your support of New College being in flux."
"I also understand that in order to continue to support New College through philanthropic giving
you must feel a connection to our success and be invested in our mission and our future," Corcoran added
before outlining his vision for the college
New College may have lost more than $29 million in future contributions from alumni and other college supporters
That is just the amount Lenger personally has documented through direct conversations with donors
Lenger's informal tally doesn't include many lost donations
a letter signed by 156 New College alums blasts the direction of the college under the DeSantis board appointees and states that the signees are "withholding any future..
funding" until "such time as we are assured Foundation funds will not be used to support the newly appointed Board of Trustee agenda."
Among those who have signed the letter are retired neurosurgeon Dr
University of Oxford anthropology professor Eben Kirksey and former U.S
Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement attorney Dorothy Heyl
Donors are upset that New College is being reoriented by DeSantis, with the school serving as an experiment in conservative higher education reform. Among the first big moves by the governor's board appointees was to abolish New College's diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
Another big concern for some donors is that Foundation money is being used to pay Corcoran's compensation package
The new board fired former President Patricia Okker and hired Corcoran
the governor's former education commissioner
Corcoran will earn $699,000 in base salary and possibly more if he receives the 15% bonus in his contract
He also gets $104,850 annually in retirement benefits
an $84,000 annual housing allowance and $12,000 annual car allowance
only $200,000 in taxpayer money can be used to pay a university official's salary
The donors Lenger spoke to did not want to be identified
But a donor who canceled a planned gift of $1.5 million sent the Herald-Tribune an anonymous statement through an intermediary mentioning Corcoran's compensation package as among the reasons for holding back the money
"I feel both sad and angry about the recent events at New College," the donor wrote
has intruded in my life and the life of qualified and deserving students
my bequests were designed to give financial aid to those individuals and not be used to pay obscene compensation packages to unqualified politicians infiltrating our New College campus
I had withdrawn any bequests because I cannot imagine one dollar going to individuals who are only interested in their political aspirations."
Lenger said Corcoran's compensation package has harmed the "goodwill" Foundation officials had built up with donors
"It is painful to watch the goodwill the Foundation Team created over decades dissipate over the last 2 months," Lenger wrote
due to the Board of Trustees members selected
And now due to the controversy that donor intent may be overridden to fund approximately $1 million of Richard Corcoran’s total Compensation Package."
an associate vice president at New College who also is now running the foundation on an interim basis after former Foundation Executive Director MaryAnne Young retired recently
and Jenks did not respond to questions sent by the Herald-Tribune asking about the Foundation's finances
how Corcoran will be paid and the impact of donors canceling their planned contributions
The donors Lenger spoke with had New College in their estate plans
meaning the college wouldn't have received that $29 million immediately
But those donors also are canceling smaller annual contributions
Questions about Richard Corcorn contractAlumni canceling annual contributions could hurt the Foundation's ability to function
especially with the organization now bound with Corcoran's contract
The Foundation must raise a certain amount just to cover operating expenditures
It paid out $1.3 million in salaries and benefits to fundraising staff in 2019
Replacing those contributions could be difficult
The college likely will have to tap a new group of donors
“It’s obvious it has to be an entirely new constituency of donors who are responsive to the new mission because this is not the traditional mission of New College," said Esther Barazzone
a former New College Foundation board member who left amid the recent controversy
"It’s no longer donating to the traditional New College
so it will have to be a whole new donor base."
Jenks said recently that "there are other donors out there who will donate
they need to see that we're making that progress."
"While I hope the Chair of the Board of Trustees is correct that wealthy Republicans will step up and make significant donations," Lenger wrote
" I think that’s uncertain since the smartest plan would have been pay Richard Corcoran $200,000 until the new wealthy Republican donors could be secured."
Barazzone was among the first two students admitted to New College
She graduated from the school in 1967 and went on to a distinguished career in higher education
serving as president of Chatham University for 24 years
When Barazzone's classmates gathered for a 50-year reunion
they identified at least $2 million combined in planned contributions
Now Barazzone is canceling her planned donation
our bequests and have stopped annual donations," Barazzone said
Barazzone is deeply opposed to what's happening at New College
She also believes Corcoran is unqualified to serve as interim president and that money donated to the college before DeSantis overhauled the board shouldn't be used to pay Corcoran
arguing donors never intended for their money to be used that way
"I think it's utterly outrageous," she said
“This salary is dramatically out of line with comparable liberal arts colleges
as indicated by the contrast with Pat Okker’s salary.”
Jenks has said the Foundation has enough money to pay Corcoran
but Foundation board members say that's not clear
Larry Geimer, the finance chair for the Foundation board and a certified public accountant with Kerkering, Barberio & Co., said during a recent Foundation board meeting that 99% of Foundation funds are restricted and that it's "a very, very huge question" where the money will come from to pay Corcoran.
Lenger and Barazzone are concerned that New College's board will try to tap Foundation funds for Corcoran's salary that weren't intended to be used that way
“I don’t believe any donor to the foundation would have intended that their money be used for that purpose," Barazzone said

— A beloved High Point landmark and famously huge piece of furniture has a winding story all its own
The World’s Largest Chest of Drawers has almost 100 years of history and draws attention to High Point as the Furniture Capital of the World
Local artist Brian Davis shares a special connection with the drawers
“Initially I worked for the same man who designed it
who conceptualized it and who helped build it,” Davis said
and they did handpainted furniture in the '90s,” Davis said
Sid Lenger transformed the drawers from the way they looked when they were first built in the 1920s to the iconic
The drawers changed hands and colors over the years until they found their way back to Davis
“A few years back High Point University acquired this
They said we’d like you to come up here and restore this
but we also want you to make it a little more current,” Davis said
He jumped at the chance to make what he calls a “re-original” work of art
using the exact paint formula Lenger used for the body of the drawers
He then updated the socks with colors to honor High Point
Pink and blue for the nearby children’s museum
the stars as a nod to the High Point Rockers and plenty of High Point University purple
“I’ve made my impression on the history of the town that allowed me to really express who I am
It’s kind of one of those give-back moments,” Davis said
The World’s Largest Chest of Drawers is free to view and is located at 508 N
It’s a saying that most of us have heard before
But sometimes it may get set by the wayside in the middle of a project
Tight budgets and timelines can make it tough for some of us to get everything done just the way we want
This can be especially true if the off-roading season is short where you live
Some off-roaders will be quick to point out that any time of year is good for an off-road adventure
it really does depend on what kind of wheeling you’re into
Troy Dominic is the owner of this extremely well-built 2012 Chevy Silverado
there is a certain need to push their vehicles to their absolute limits every time they go out
When you drive like that it tends to make sense that you should purpose build your rig
Such is the case for Troy and Sarah Dominic and their 2012 Chevy Silverado
They discovered that even though they have a lot of love for anything off-road
After owning a first-generation Ford Raptor for a while
they realized that they needed to step up their game a bit
“The only natural progression is to go faster,” Troy explained
It’s not a question of whether or not you can make it over that hill
It’s a question of how fast can I go over it.”
Ryan Lenger owns Lenger Racing based in Grand Rapids
To accomplish their speed goal, they enlisted Ryan Lenger of Lenger Racing in Grand Rapids
The plan was to build a luxury prerunner that could handle the speed and abuse they love to place on their rigs
the best place to get on the sand is at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes
The couple talked with a few different shops about the build and their timeline
With only a few months out of the year available for dune time
the couple was searching for trucks that would serve as a good platform for their build plans
The suspension was one of the first components decided upon when building this truck
The couple loves to go fast but that speed means the truck will take some big hits
High travel numbers and capable shocks were a must
keeping the luxury in this luxury prerunner concept was key
a sound system that will blow clothing off
and suspension seating were all on the list
Anyone that has ridden in a truck with big travel, aggressive tires, and bypass shocks knows that they are not quiet. Quiet was another item on the wishlist, and thanks to extra sound-deadening materials, this truck is quiet. Like, weirdly quiet. Both Dynamat soundproofing and a mass loaded vinyl product were installed by Sarah and Troy personally
Troy estimates that they may have added as much as 200-300 pounds of extra material to achieve their ideal interior noise level
They ensure that the cabin is not only comfortable
Troy and Sarah knew they had to make a choice and get started
The couple settled on a truck and flew out to get it
Ryan was picked due to his exceptional attention to detail
Troy and Ryan have established a very solid relationship during the build of this truck
The new team first discussed the expectations and future plans for the build
“Troy didn’t just jump into a back-halved truck,” Ryan explained
He’s has had the chance to experience leaf springs
He’s had the chance to experience horsepower
It was important that we build something that could continue to grow.”
Troy describes the truck as being at stage “one and a half.” The future will see a complete build at stage five
The front suspension is considered complete
The back half of the truck was built with the intention of cutting the frame eventually
the Lenger Racing team made sure that all of the components are bolt-in – everything from the engine cage to the complete rear modifications can be removed
we wanted to build it so that it could grow with them,” said Ryan
“We did it this way so that when Troy is ready to move on
That’s why it’s so important to have a relationship with the customer
Knowing Troy and knowing his long-term plans informs everything we do
It’s also great because he can take everything off and he can sell it to the next guy for a great deal
we don’t know each other,” Ryan continued
you build that relationship and then we can talk about things that can wait versus things that are urgent
That relationship takes time to build trust.”
there are additional rear-facing amber lights
The front suspension duties are handled with components from Baja Kits, along with RCV axle shafts
The chosen kit is a four-wheel-drive long-travel race kit
This decision was made because Troy wanted to retain four-wheel-drive functionality
Troy clarified: “I went back and forth about four-wheel-drive for months
We knew that it would be cheaper to go two-wheel-drive
We also knew it would mean fewer components
I wanted Sarah to have peace of mind in the truck’s off-road ability
I didn’t want her to have to think about how or where she parks or getting enough momentum for certain things
my son Ty will be driving it in the next couple of years
The idea was for both of them to be able to drop it into four-wheel-drive and go
The front kit comes complete with a pair of three-inch-diameter King race series coilovers. Three tube bypasses are utilized and are fully adjustable to Troy’s driving style and terrain preference. 2.5-inch King bump stops also ensure that the front is able to soak up the big hits. PRP limiting straps prevent the suspension from extending too far
The interior seats and harnesses are designed for both comfort and safety
Speaking of big hits, the custom bumper and skid plate were designed and built by Ryan and Lenger Racing to take all the abuse Troy can throw at them. The KC Hilites six-inch Apollo PRO lights turn the night into day
KC Hilites six-inch Apollo PRO lights were added to the front bumper in case the family wants to go on any night runs
In the engine bay, the most obvious change is the custom engine cage. It was developed and installed to mount all of the suspension parts. Not only has it been done with a nod toward aesthetics, but it is also super beefy. The cage is completely bolt-on in accordance with the plan to make sure the truck can grow as needed. The back of the engine bay houses an sPOD power distribution system that keeps all of the electronic systems happy
3.5-inch King race series three-tube bypass shocks control dampening
2.5-inch King bump stops also work to ensure that things don’t compress too harshly
All of these components bolt onto a custom bed cage
The rear suspension components attach to a trick custom bed cage
A custom dual spare tire carrier and bumper combination stow the spares in an easy location. KC Flex chase lights and a CBR transmission cooler are also located in the bed. The rear leaf springs are underslung Deavers. They are located on the frame rail by Mazzula hangers and shackles
The truck has a custom-built dual spare tire carrier in the bed
Lenger Racing went with Toyo 37-inch mud terrain tires that are wrapped around Method beadlocks. The FiberwerX fenders and bedsides look fantastic and ensure that there won’t be any rubbing when the suspension cycles
The front glass also accentuates the slightly massaged headlights
This Chevy sits on Toyo 37-inch mud terrain tires and Method beadlock wheels
Since the whole family will be taking part in the adventures, safety was a top concern. The custom interior features PRP seats and harnesses. A cool feature is that Lenger Racing was able to maintain the seat adjustability controls by mounting on the factory seat tracks. A bolt-in harness bar maintains the bolt while providing safety. A custom Extreme Audio 12.5-inch sub-box is also tucked neatly behind the rear seats
Troy and his son Ty both enjoy going off-road in the dunes
the attention to detail and craftsmanship on this build is exceptional
Anyone that visits the Silver Lake Sand Dunes is going to want to check out this build if they see it flying by

Ben Lenger is surprisingly nonchalant about winning the 2017 Barnes & Noble Regional Spelling Bee on Feb
which netted him an all-expense-paid trip to the national finals in Washington
The seventh grader at Sunset Middle School in Longmont is an old hand at spelling bees
I made it to the third round at the Niwot (Elementary School) bee
I like this,’” says the 12-year-old Niwot resident
He’s studied hard for every competition since
He’s bombed out and won at the school level
lost in the first round of the regional competition
“I didn’t prepare any harder this year than last year
when I was out in the first round of the regionals.”
Sometimes you get a word that hangs you up
and to have a PhD in organic chemistry for a father and a former English teacher for a mother
Ben Lenger onstage during this year's regional spelling bee
and that’s something I’ve worked on with the kids
especially with Greek and Latin roots,” says his mother
but with an eye toward general literacy and enjoyment of the English language.”
Ben agrees that having such knowledge is helpful when parsing out words
“But I know most of the words just because I read a lot and I’ve seen them.”
reading his father’s college-level biology textbooks helped send him to the national competition—that’s where he first encountered “lysis,” which he successfully spelled to claim this year’s trophy
He loves the Harry Potter and Percy Jackson novels
as well as “The Lord of the Rings.” He enjoys reading about history
But he also makes a habit of regularly poring over the DK Encyclopedia of Science
and scouring the internet for articles about “cars
“I want to work in the aerospace industry and rocketry,” he says
Participating in a spelling bee in the nation’s capital is a great honor
but he’s most excited about visiting the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution
And he’s not just biding his time at home: He loves building and launching Estes model rockets
which have been thrilling enthusiasts young and old since 1958
so there are three stages that fall off,” Ben says
“I’ll have to launch it on a non-windy day
or the stages will be all over the place.”
He also plays viola in his school orchestra and enjoys bicycling and skiing
Students have participated in local and regional spelling bees to reach the Scripps National Spelling Bee since 1925
an estimated 11 million children participated
The CU Boulder College of Arts and Sciences has provided funding for the families of Boulder County winner to travel to the finals for three years
and younger brother Jon to this year’s competition
“We are very grateful for the financial assistance from CU,” Audrey Lenger says
