More built in 1939 at kilometer 2 of the Tukums-Kandava road has become a historical testimony of its time It was built with the wider development of the area in mind Historians say that the bridge was built on an artificial embankment to form the Tukums-Kuldīga railway line and that a railway line was planned under the bridge the outbreak of World War II put an end to this plan - the railway was never built The bridge is already in a complex with the whole line If it had not been for the two occupations it would certainly have been finished," said Inta Dišlere a cultural history expert from the Tukums municipality the Tukums-Abavnieki section of the road is due for reconstruction and the bridge is holding it back the pre-war bridge is unsuitable for traffic and needs to be demolished Photo: Zemgales reģionālā televīzijaPhoto: Zemgales reģionālā televīzijaPhoto: Zemgales reģionālā televīzijaPhoto: Zemgales reģionālā televīzijaPhoto: Zemgales reģionālā televīzija it does not have sufficient load-bearing capacity which the state does not have," said Anna Kononova The municipality of Tukums acknowledged that it is important to preserve historical values but the restoration of roads is no less important It was because of the poor roads that the municipality was forced to take an unpopular decision in the spring - to close a branch of the Pūre primary school in Jaunsāti from September "Our decision to close the school is partly linked to this road because if this road had been improved in 2009 I assume that we would not have come to this decision to close the school,  [..]" said Gundars Važa Chairman of the Tukums Municipal Council (Association of Latvian Regions) LVC is currently planning the dismantling of the bridge Work will start this year and be completed next year Select text and press Ctrl+Enter to send a suggested correction to the editor Select text and press Report a mistake to send a suggested correction to the editor 18 Apr 2025 14:00:00 GMT?.css-1txiau5-AnswerContainer{color:var(--GlobalColorScheme-Text-secondaryText2);}Auda won 2–0 over FK Tukums 2000 on Fri Predicted lineups are available for the match a few days in advance while the actual lineup will be available about an hour ahead of the match The current head to head record for the teams are Auda 6 win(s) Have kept the most clean sheets in the competition (4) Have scored 6 goals in their last 5 matches Haven't scored in their last 2 matches Who won between Auda and FK Tukums 2000 on Fri 18 Apr 2025 14:00:00 GMT?Auda won 2–0 over FK Tukums 2000 on Fri 18 Apr 2025 14:00:00 GMT.InsightsHave scored 8 goals in their last 5 matches Auda is playing home against FK Tukums 2000 on Fri During the FIA World Rally Championship round Tet Rally Latvia Food Festival will take place in the rally cities of Tukums Visitors will have the opportunity to taste various dishes prepared by Latvian chefs the Food Festival events are scheduled in Tukums and Talsi the food festival will take place on Uguns Street from 8.00 to 22.30 it will be located on Lielā Street (near the intersection with Zvaigžņu Street) from 11.00 to 22.30 residents and visitors of these cities will have the opportunity to taste dishes prepared by Latvia's finest chefs showcasing globally renowned culinary culture combined with the excitement of rally festivities there will be an exciting activity during the Food Festival where attendees can test their skills on a rally simulator the Food Festival will delight visitors over two days – on Saturday and Sunday The food festival in Liepāja will be located opposite the Great Amber concert hall (Lielais Dzintars) offering rally spectators and city residents alike the opportunity to indulge in the creativity of Latvia's finest restaurants visitors in Liepāja will also have the chance to test their skills on a rally simulator Each of the event cities may offer a different assortment of foods but visitors to the Food Festival will have the opportunity to taste various styles and flavors of cuisine there will be options like ice cream stands and sweet bubble waffles available Visitors can cool off with beverages offered at the cocktail bar Tukums            Uguns Street                                                       19.07.2024. least 6.5 thousand tonnes of tyres every year The environmental management company of “Eco Baltia grupa” – SIA “Eco Baltia vide” has invested 2.6 million euros and established a new mechanical tyre recycling plant in Tukums which is the most modern such facility in the Baltics It is projected that the new plant will recycle at least 6.5 thousand tonnes of tyres By gradually increasing production capacity it is expected that the plant will be able to process up to 10 thousand tonnes of worn tyres annually in the next two years The volume of tyres recycled at the plant will help reduce 26 600 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year which is equal to the annual electricity consumption of 4200 households The new SIA “Eco Baltia vide” plant is the first such facility in Latvia and one out of only few such plants in Europe which is also equipped with the most modern tyre recycling units available on the market These units minimise and eliminate various potential risks of pollution and ensure energy-efficient and environmentally friendly production processes Chairman of the board of SIA “Eco Baltia vide” Jānis Aizbalts states: “One of the cornerstones of circular economy is the process of recycling waste into new raw materials The tyre recycling plant created by SIA “Eco Baltia vide” will also serve as an important contribution in the context of Latvia’s environmental well-being and economic development The plant will help ensure that we can efficiently and sustainably process the tyre waste generated in Latvia into new raw materials rather than leaving them in the environment or landfills the technologies we use will also allow recycling electrical cables in the future which is a new waste recycling direction in Latvia.” the tyres will be shredded into small strips and transferred for further recovery to be used as fuel for energy production in special furnaces thus reducing the use of newly acquired fossil fuels the processing procedure will involve separating metal and textile from tyre rubber to produce crumb rubber of varying roughness The produced crumb rubber will serve as raw material for manufacturing new products e.g rubber surfacing for playgrounds and football fields components for asphalt-bituminous mixtures The projected product sales include both domestic sales and export  “The economic situation and trends are changing so it is crucial for entrepreneurs to adapt and find ways to manage their market principles-based businesses in a way that does not consume resources but instead create them It’s high time Latvia approached the model of circular economy and tyre recycling is an excellent example how the pollution of Latvia’s nature by products that require a challenging recycling process can be minimised,” the parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of Economics According to a study conducted last December by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development there is currently a total of 105 thousand tonnes of worn tyres accumulated in Latvia  “It is welcome news that experienced waste management operators who focus on long-term economic activities are investing in waste treatment facilities as well as the inability to attract investment have only led to unsuccessful experiments that tend to close within a few years with no results whatsoever It is expected that the new SIA “Baltia Eco vide” recycling plant will play a crucial role in the life-cycle of tyres in Latvia and will probably open up new unprecedented recycling opportunities that will help dispose of several decades’ worth of worn tyres The recovery process is an integral part of the tyre lifecycle that this task is addressed by domestic companies for better traceability and to avoid relying on foreign recycling plants By increasing the recycling capacity of local businesses we will benefit from the increase in economic activity and the newly acquired order in the worn tyre lifecycle,” the General Director of SES “We are very pleased that “Eco Baltia grupa” has expanded and diversified its scope and can now proudly boast a new waste recycling plant we have recycled various types of polymer packaging but now we can also make ourselves known as recyclers of tyres and rubber The need for such recycling plants is illustrated by numerous illegal tyre dumps throughout Latvia; this creates new given that several Asian countries have already announced a ban on unprocessed waste imports Latvia will have to increasingly develop its waste recycling capacity and facilities in the future therefore we are proud of our leading role in this industry,” chairman of the Board of SIA “Eco Baltia vide” The factory will mainly recycle tyres collected from Latvian companies and individuals so that a worn tyre collection point in Tukums Dienvidu iela 2 could start functioning according to all regulatory enactments by autumn ensuring tyre collection from the residents of the Tukums municipality This means that each year every individual will have the opportunity to deliver one set of passenger car tyres (i.e 4 tyres) for recycling at our factory free of charge,” J Seven new job positions have been created by the new “Eco Baltia vide” tyre recycling plant; this number is expected to increase in the future “The establishment of a new tyre recycling site in Latvia is a welcome step towards improving the worn tyre management process including transparency and traceability of recycling which have so far proven problematic at a systemic level New jobs created by this initiative and its potential contribution the state budget in the form of taxes also should be considered should strengthen its monitoring measures related to recycling sites abroad which are managed by local waste management companies This will decrease the number of incidents when the tyres that are allegedly being recycled in India or Lithuania are in fact littering Latvia’s forests or even worse — the centre of Riga,” the director of the Latvian Tire Management Association SIA “Eco Baltia vide” is an environmental management company that provides the services of waste management sorting and sales of secondary raw material SIA “Eco Claudia later received legal assistance at the Tukums Support Center for Ukrainian Civilians but she had already decided to go to Ukraine.  The State Labour Inspectorate also started investigating Claudia's case Claudia has given one testimony but has not received any news from the Inspectorate about the progress of the case did not want to comment on the specific situation in a Latvijas Radio ongoing and the testimonies of the parties involved were being assessed If workers suffer significant injuries in the work environment the employer must inform the Labor Inspectorate but the Inspectorate is still unable to comment on whether the accident was covered up at the company Saulītis noted: "The investigation is still ongoing and I will refrain from commenting further as that final decision has not been taken At the moment we are aware of a total of four cases at the company but there have been no further accident reports We have also been to the company ourselves afterward and spoken to the management and the workers And the instructions are in a language that people can understand and the company is taking steps to provide training and briefings." where note – story published 1 year and 11 months ago The "Inverted House" tourist object in Smārde parish, Tukums district (https://apgrieztamaja.lv) is the brainchild of owners Guntis and Ilze Baltgalvis who bought the rural property 10 years ago. Since the land near the house is only 1.7 hectares in size the owners have created an unusual tourist attraction over four years and continue to add to it reported Latvian Radio's upbeat news show "Strong stories".  Guntis and Ilze met during their studies in Riga. Ilze is a primary school teacher by education while Guntis studied psychology and social sciences.  and we were told to do it together," said Ilze.  "On the day when we had that joint [homework] the school had given us a big scholarship for three months I simply drove up to Ilze with my car and asked if she also wanted to come out for the evening Ilze started working in the field of insurance during her studies while Guntis focused on construction and eventually established his own construction company. His knowledge was useful in the construction of the Inverted House I participated a lot directly in the construction process," Guntis said.  The idea of a tourist attraction arose after both realized that 1.7 hectares of land is not enough for rural life but it seemed useless to maintain it just as a pied-a-terre in the middle of nowhere During an autumn vacation in 2018, Ilze and Guntis visited Tartu, Estonia, where they saw a tourist attraction – an upside-down house. It was clear to Guntis that he wanted to build such a house in Latvia as well. The process from the idea to its realization was long and lasted four years.  and I was at the construction board the very next week I was in the Ķemeri National Park because we are at the outer border of the Ķemeri National Park we didn't believe it," Guntis admitted.  attracting funding and creating the project which was also full of challenges due to the high cost of materials. The invested work has paid off because last year the "Inverted House" was recognized as a "Major Project 2022".  It's especially nice to feel appreciated in Smārde parish and Tukums district because we really have a lot of support," said Guntis.  you will be able to see a mirror maze and the tornado tunnel at the house the construction of a new "Inverted Garage" will begin. A two-story building has already been built on the territory a souvenir shop and a hall where it is possible to hold events - scientific shows Take note – story published 5 years and 1 month ago Saturday VUGD firefighters had to put out 98 grass fires but the most serious event happened when firefighters were called to put out an especially dangerous 2,000 square meter compressed trash fire at the Piejūra landfill in Tukums at 4:23 p.m. according to VUGD Prevention and Public Information Department employee Agrita Vītola The 12-person fire and rescue team along with three fire trucks were quickly joined by an additional fire truck and colleagues from both Jūrmala and Tukums to put out the 200 tonnes of trash that was prepared for burning function () { LSM.articles.prepareVideoWithCover('vc-1491-2020-03-600731'); });Ugunsgreks_Tukums “We also had a hagar burning next to the trash that's in heaps outside The hangar is next to it and also contained trash I went in there and about 15 square meters were burning but we were able to save that,” said VUGD Rescue Supervisor Dainis Bērziņš The fire was finally contained at 11:14 p.m. but additional fire fighting work went on into the night until 8:21 a.m Neither the company nor VUGD representatives could say what was the cause of the fire but State Police will begin investigating the case Luckily the territory didn't contain any dangerous or chemical waste, according to the State Environmental Service (VDD) Though the official cause of the fire hasn't been determined VDD inspectors have suspicions that it could have been caused by last year's grass being burned off on the neighboring territory according to VDD PR Director Kristīne Kļavniece VDD inspectors are also continuing their investigation to determine the environmental impact and whether changes should be made to the landfill's operational license Sunday VUGD put out an additional 24 grass fires but were called to another landfill fire on Daugavgrīva Road in Rīga on Monday at 1:45 p.m. The burning 300 square meters of trash were captured on Latvian Television's livestream cameras Five fire trucks and 21 fire and rescue personnel showed up to the scene VUGD reminds residents to keep windows and ventilation closed if they can smell the smoke 2018 hectares of grass were burned in Latvia in 2018. VUGD would like to remind residents that burning last year's grass is illegal When there is little rain the old grass gets very dry and fires can be caused just as easily by a cigarette tossed to the ground as by malicious grass burners please call 112 and notify the State Police If you want to help put out a fire before fire and rescue teams arrive then you can try to put out the burning grass with water Property owners and municipalities are legally responsible for keeping their territory tidy which includes cutting the grass and getting rid of trash especially anything flammable within 10 meters of a building Burning is not an alternative to yard work VUGD would also like to dispel a few myths about burning old grass that many Latvians still believe: WRC crews competed in two stages in been removed from the pond the pollution in the Šlokenbeka manor pond is six times over the allowed for some chemicals editor of Neatkarīgās Tukuma Ziņas told Latvian Radio inhabitants of the Smārde parish had complained about an unbearable smell emanating from the wastewater treatment facilities and the Šlokenberga pond which is connected to a number of rivers - and also the Baltic Sea.  Several sources of the pollution have been named - the milk processing company Tukuma piens (Milk of Tukums) a dry-cleaner's that operates near the Slocene river for the second year Pesticides have also been named a possible cause Plaude said that the pollution in the lake reaches two times over the allowed amounts for some chemicals while amounts of others are six times over the norm Even though numerous fish are dying in the pond experts have already found out that the pollution hasn't spread further It is also suspected that the wastewater treatment facilities operated by Tukuma ūdens (Water of Tukums) have malfunctioned so perhaps the pollution has come from Tukuma piens.  The State Environment Service has set about finding the cause of the pollution and results of the analyses will be available next week The dead fish are being scooped out of the pond and currently about four tons have been removed Take note – story published 4 years and 1 month ago The “good cop/ bad cop” routine is a staple of many police dramas a form of psychological role play meant to elicit confessions from suspects But at least one Latvian officer seems like a decent and fair guy without needing to put on an act friendly Lieutenant Colonel Janeks Bahs of the Latvian State Police is in charge of Tukums Police District “I always tell my staff – we are working for the children who live here,” he says “I have two young sons and I want them and all the members of the community to feel safe in their home Janeks knew from an early age what he wanted to do when he grew up he admiringly watched policemen from his hometown Tukums rush to Riga to man the barricades against Soviet hardliners Aptitude tests in high school suggested he should enter the army or the police and he studied for five years in the Police Academy His first job on graduation was as a youth officer Cooperating with social services and the family court over a decade his unit was able to significantly reduce the number of potential offenders in Tukums by focussing on their medical behavioural or addiction problems before they got into serious trouble Employing conflict resolution skills he learned during a six-month sabbatical in Canada Janeks is a staunch advocate of preventative policing so you have to work with the root causes,” he says “If someone has anger management problems locking them in a cell isn’t going to help – they need support so they can change.” His beat covers about 2,500 square kilometres of small towns countryside and seaside villages in Tukums Engue and Kandava districts. He commands around 90 uniformed officers and some civilian support staff the Covid-19 emergency has greatly expanded police activities in Latvia After relatively mild rules in spring 2020 and an unrestricted summer in November the country entered a state of emergency which has been extended until April 6 of this year Face masks are mandatory in all indoor spaces extending even to people from more than one household being in the same car And a weekend curfew was imposed from New Years Eve until early February the largest policing operation since the restoration of independence enforcing the curfew had the bonus of netting drunk drivers and outstanding arrest warrants And concerns that the policy was hindering crime fighting were exaggerated as the operation got additional funding; officers still reported for shifts on Monday even if they were tired from all night on the road Some resources have been shifted from traffic duties to monitoring compliance by stores Over a million euros in fines have been issued nationwide for various breaches of emergency rules but Janeks says his officers have the discretion to issue cautions before they throw the book at you “There’s a big difference between someone’s mask slipping off their nose and driving drunk at 2 am during a curfew,” he says.  Opinion polls reveal that Latvia’s current government is unsurprisingly unpopular for imposing what some people see as arbitrary and illogical restrictions But Janeks and his team are just doing their job “We live in the same community as everyone else and each of our staff has their personal views,” he says “But we don’t decide on what restrictions there are That’s up to the professionals in the government and it’s our duty to implement them.” criminals have shifted from stealing handbags in the street to fraud and credit card data theft,” says Janeks there was a correlation between crime and the economy but perhaps the economic consequences have yet to be felt Janeks says there hasn’t been an increase in public hostility toward the police during the state of emergency While there were some incidents when mandatory face mask wearing was first introduced he believes people have come to accept it as normal The pandemic has affected officers’ lives too with regular Covid testing and masks on the job now routine but that pleasure has been replaced by a routine of work and home-schooling his kids something parents across Latvia are all too familiar with he longs to be able to socialise and have fun again This feature was originally published on the website of the fastest time at Biķernieki Track was set by the world champion Kalle Rovanperä from Toyota Gazoo Racing finishing with a time of 7 minutes 28.5 seconds An interesting battle went on between the Hyundai Shell Mobis representative Thierry Neuville and eight-time world champion Sébastien Ogier from France Championship standings leader Neuville had opted for a different tire strategy starting with 3 soft and 1 hard compound tire while Rovanperä's teammate Ogier used four soft tires at Biķernieki The local crew Mārtiņš Sesks / Renārs Francis took their first start at the wheel of the hybrid powered M-Sport Ford Puma Rally1 HYBRID car They were even the second fastest at one of the splits It is worth mentioning that Sesks was the fastest of the three M-Sport Ford team crews Fifth place in the first special stage of the Tet Rally Latvia was secured by Elfyn Evans who was 3.9 seconds behind the fastest time Japanese driver Takamoto Katsuta rounded out the top six with a 5.6-second deficit Hyundai Shell Mobis driver Ott Tänak made a mistake on the track but this did not prevent the Estonian from finishing seventh The remaining top ten positions were filled by WRC top-class drivers Adrien Fourmaux (M-Sport Ford) the fastest time was set by Oliver Solberg (Škoda Fabia RS Rally2) who began his rally career in the Latvian Championship Latvian crew Matīss Mežaks / Arnis Latvia rally in 16th place Tet Rally Latvia will continue with seven gravel stages in the Tukums and Talsi regions where the final special stage of the day is planned it is impossible to really say in these conditions which tyre to choose so we just chose one and hoped it would be okay it's cleaning a bit and coming onto the tarmac.” Thierry Neuville: “It's not too bad with the tyre choice we had we saw that the softs seem to work quite well No one really knew at the start of the stage it is great to kick off here in front of such a big crowd which is nice We'll see what we can do tomorrow; hopefully the feeling is good.” Sébastien Ogier: “Tyre choice was not easy and that is why you see a lot of time differences so far not too bad so let's see what the guys do behind I didn't drive perfectly there; the movement of the tyre was hard to manage.” I think we lost a bit on the second lap with the soft tyre Elfyn Evans: “Really hard to know what is right or wrong but difficult to find the rhythm between pushing and sliding too much Takamoto Katsuta: “I've been waiting a long time for this kind of track it's very hard to say whether tyres were correct Tomorrow is the proper stage but obviously we had fun with the spectators.” Ott Tänak: “We tried to be clever for the tyre choice but we got it very Adrien Fourmaux: “I think I had a really clean run with the hard tyres I will compare with the other guy with the hard tyres I thought it was okay for the time for Kalle Rovanperä Esapekka Lappi: “I think it is a disappointment I wanted to believe the temperature is high enough to use the hard [tyres] but I couldn't use it properly it seems.” we had a chance to do a small parade and see the mountain of fans We don't have the right tyre for this it is really tricky because you try to be efficient but you end up being slow and going sideways.” The long-awaited debut of Latvia on the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar has arrived with the historic first WRC round in Latvia The rally will start on the evening of Thursday with an Opening ceremony in Old Rīga and the first special stage of the rally in Biķernieki track where the Tet Rally Latvia service park will be located throughout the rally so we kindly ask Tet Rally Latvia spectators to be especially cautious and adhere to the instructions of marshals and other officials It is important to remember that rally experience for both the violators and other spectators Additional safety risks are associated with the Rally1 HYBRID cars of the most powerful WRC class which use high-voltage batteries and other electrical components All three factory teams – Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team and M-Sport Ford World Rally Team – use hybrid engine cars these hybrid cars have easily recognizable white HY letters on a red background on their doors as well as a light indicator on the windshield and both side windows you will see a green light indicator in the windshield and on both side windows indicating that the car’s electrical system has no technical issues and it is safe to approach and touch the car if the indicator shows a red light (or if the light is off altogether) everyone nearby must take the highest safety precautions and avoid approaching or touching the car due to the risk of electric shock who will provide further instructions on the necessary actions the rally service in the first half of the year contributed to a significant increase in revenues and surplus profits which we almost entirely earmarked for further development Being clearly aware that such favourable market conditions are not a long-term phenomenon it is important for us to continuously strengthen our resilience and adaptability to different market conditions This would not be possible without investment in the production of high added value products which have enabled us to successfully withstand market fluctuations and be more competitive on a global scale,” says Andris Ramoliņš owner and Chairman of the Management Board of Stiga RM Implementation of both ongoing and new development projects has resulted in EUR 31 million of total investments made by the Group companies in 2023 conditions and ensure good performance parameters in the future as the investments made involve minimal leverage,” says Mr Ramoliņš the company will continue its focus on creating high-quality wood
