The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Ministry of Finance of Moldova represented by Senior Loan Officer Stella Renita and minister Dumitru Budianschi signed today an agreement for a €100 million increase to the original €150 million loan for the rehabilitation and upgrading of key national road sections
The new operation will finance the improvements to national road Hincesti – Leova – Cahul – Giurgiulesti
leading to Moldova’s only international port of Giurgiulesti on the Danube river
The other segment is the construction of a bypass allowing to detour the town of Cimislia
The EIB loan supports the goals of the EU Economic and Investment Plan for Moldova in the transport sector by spurring regional and national economic growth
and supporting private sector development for 2013-2022
Minister of Finance of Moldova Dumitru Budianschi said: “By signing this loan with the EIB
we show our commitment to the rehabilitation and upgrading of key national road sections which is becoming increasingly important for the economic development of the country and the wider region
Moldova's roads are of great importance for ensuring transportation and uninterrupted trade flows from Moldova and Ukraine to Romania
to the Danube River through the port of Moldova’s Giurgiulesti
A well-functioning transport system is critical for economic growth
Upgrading Moldova’s road infrastructure and promoting regional economic links on the one hand and improving road safety and saving lives on the other is a winning combination
The government appreciates continued cooperation with the EIB and this timely investment.”

Prime Minister Pavel Filip and his Romanian counterpart Dacian Ciolos participated in reopening of Luminita kindergarten in Selemet village
It is restored with financial support of Romanian authorities
The event was occasioned by Dacian Ciolos’ official visit to Moldova
Dacian Ciolos said he wanted to personally see the result of the assistance provided within a project carried out in Moldova and financially supported by the Romanian government
He said that the programme on restoration of kindergartens in Moldova was successful
over 750 kindergartens being modernized so far
the Romanian government intends to continue this programme
so that to improve the work conditions in other over 80 kindergartens
The official also noted that Romania would continue programmes on scholarships for Moldovan young people
Pavel Filip expressed gratitude to Moldovan people for every support provided within many development projects
as well as in the country’s European integration

named European integration and rapprochement with the EU
which represents a desire to live in a county built on the basis of European values
it means that children and adults will live in good condition”
About 2 million lei was earmarked for the repair works of kindergarten
building façade was completed and landscaping works in the yard completed

After the change of the approach in the distribution of funds for roads’ construction
the Cimislia district receives 15 million lei
Each settlement will receive street illumination objects for illuminating by one kilometer of road
Ion Chicu stressed that Moldova must cease the exodus
jobs should be created and people’s living standards should be improved in all Moldova’s districts
Big investments will be made in the construction of networks of aqueducts and sewerage
The prime minister also referred to the balanced foreign policy and the need to edify mutually advantageous partnerships in the East and in the West
in order to enhance the opportunities of economic development
