Getgood is a guru of contemporary metal guitar tones
and tackles some received wisdom that is less relevant to today's player
Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood is the guitar world’s man for all seasons
He’s been a member of influential contemporary metal outfit Periphery
an in-demand producer of hard-rock and metal records
and an expert adviser and product developer for Bare Knuckle Pickups
But he is perhaps best known for his ability to craft incredibly chunky
detailed high-gain guitar tones that lack for nothing in definition and edge – yet still have a harmonically rich and full sound
While it’s tempting to think high gain is all about amps and distortion choices
Adam says the process of getting searing-hot tone that sounds chunky and well defined begins with the player’s fingers
“And even then, you’re probably still going to be reducing low-end by using something like an overdrive pedal
classically a Tube Screamer/Super Overdrive kind of thing – not really for distortion but because they have this naturally very filtered frequency response
but what happens when the player palm-mutes
it’s often an enemy to punchy high-gain tone
muddying your sound and slowing down the crisp response to pick attack that fast
Adam adds that the heavily ‘scooped’ sound that people often associate with metal – with treble and bass set high and mids set low – may have arisen from a misconception
it’s pretty rare for high-gain guitar tones to have very little in the way of midrange frequencies
All of that distortion flattening out the frequency response requires some mid coverage to sound great.”
The high-output pickup thing was relevant in a time when people were trying to squeeze more gain out of amps that naturally have a huge amount of low-frequency cut
the days when a ceramic ’bucker with an output like a power station was de rigueur for metal are probably over
“I think the high-output pickup thing was relevant in a time when people were trying to squeeze more gain out of amps that naturally have a huge amount of low-frequency cut in the bottom gain, like Marshalls,” Nolly explains
“So you could chuck a very high-output pickup
which naturally is going to have a lot more low frequencies
into that and it doesn’t get out of control.”
so the game is more about controlling low-end and adding in some useful midrange heft
“You still want to have a pickup that’s got a decent midrange
Some really vintage pickups can be quite hollowed out in that region
so typically you want a pickup that’s in the medium-output range
or a pickup that’s lower output but voiced with a nice prominent midrange
“I think where we’re at now is that high-gain players are mostly using a medium-output pickup or high-gain pickups that have been voiced to have less low‑end
or even lower-gain pickups that are voiced to have more midrange and softer treble.”
“Then you’ve got something like active pickups
which were obviously a huge thing when they came out
and are still used by lots of metal artists who are playing EMGs and Fishmans
“Those typically have a huge amount of built-in low-cut on them
but the low frequency has been filtered out
which immediately makes them sound very tight
But you actually almost can’t use those with players that are too aggressive because they’re already so kind of toppy and they exaggerate that pick attack.”
metal is as nuanced in its way as any bluesman’s tonal palette that’s powered by Patent Applied For pickups and Tweed amps – and understanding this is definitely to your gain

cash and drug paraphernalia were seized from two search warrants executed simultaneous in Wellsville Thursday

WELLSVILLE — The Columbiana County Drug Task Force (DTF) seized suspected drugs and a gun from Wellsville residences on Thursday
The suspected drugs and gun were seized during the simultaneous execution of search warrants at two locations
the execution of the two warrants were the culmination of a long investigation and the two locations were connected in their investigation
These two warrants are the fifth and sixth searches in East Liverpool and Wellsville combined that led to the seizure of drugs since the beginning of the year
that while it was two different search warrants
because of the proximity of the two locations and the DTF knew the two houses were involved in trafficking together
the agency decided to hit them both at the same time
Information discovered as part of a long investigation led the agents to believe the residents of both locations were working together to sell drugs
There were no arrests or charges issued from the search warrants
but charges are pending lab results of the suspected drugs from Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI)
was what Smith said was the primary supplier of the two houses
they found evidence that the resident there attempted to flush a large amount of methamphetamine down the toilet
DTF agents were able to recover a large portion of that
Smith said even after the resident attempted to flush it
They also seized a small amount of suspected cocaine and 28 grams of suspected ecstasy pills
drug paraphernalia suspected with drug trafficking
Whether it was stolen or not has not been confirmed and will be investigated further
Smith noted that it was a pretty fair amount of suspected ecstasy seized which is odd because they don’t tend to see a lot of ecstasy in the area
He noted that it was pretty big in larger party towns but locally they don’t see a lot of it
was mostly just user level weight of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia suspected for trafficking in smaller amounts
Smith noted that the DTF receives funding assistance from the county sales tax which is up for renewal in May and asked that residents who appreciate what they do and the drugs they take off the streets to consider voting for the renewal

GREAT FALLS — Border security officials are staying vigilant after two major drug busts at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) port of entry
where a combined 228kg of illegal narcotics were seized in separate incidents
when CBSA officers examined a commercial truck carrying a mixed load destined for Calgary
Officers noticed abnormalities in the cargo
leading to the discovery of 186kg of methamphetamine—with an estimated street value of $1.86 million CAD
when another commercial truck bound for Calgary was sent for secondary examination
CBSA officers found two boxes in the trailer containing bricks of cocaine
“We're constantly on the lookout for narcotics,” said Benjamin Tame
the Coutts Port of Entry is located near Sweet Grass
a region that has seen an increase in drug-related activity
“We’re dealing with a lot of drug situations in our county,” said Tyler Padilla
“The traffic coming through our community has changed a lot over the last few years.”
CBSA statistics show that in the first ten months of 2024
border officers in the Prairie region alone were responsible for 1,594 narcotics seizures
law enforcement stress that cross-border cooperation is critical in stopping the illegal flow of drugs
“I think just the communication side—whether it be CBSA
Customs and Border Protection—goes a long way in helping us monitor and police drug activity in our county,” Sheriff Padilla emphasized
CBSA’s Benjamin Tame echoed that sentiment
“We work with our domestic and international partners in the shared pursuit of keeping our communities safe and preventing illicit drugs from entering our streets.”
Authorities urge the public to stay vigilant and report any suspected criminal activity
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local law enforcement to help combat the ongoing drug crisis

Officials at the Lummi Nation say this week’s arrests in a drug ring linked to recent overdose deaths of tribal members could offer a measure of justice
The tribal nation near Bellingham put a national spotlight on the fentanyl epidemic last September
when four members died of drug overdoses in as many days and the tribe declared a state of emergency
chairman of the Lummi Indian Business Council
said this criminal case is forcing everyone to revisit the pain of the losses last fall and beyond
“Now we’re remembering that time of the just overwhelming amount of overdose deaths that were happening at Lummi Nation
and to see articles and media saying that Lummi Nation was a target in these drug activities is hurtful to a lot of us,” Hillaire said
in the midst of these adversities we’re thanking and finding strength in being there for each other
Hillaire said he’s grateful for what he called a notable amount of collaboration between Lummi tribal police and federal officials and investigators to pursue this case and other remedies
a lot of confusion and a lot of questions that our people wanted answers to
And I think we’re getting closer,” he said
“and this is what can be done when we partner together.”
the FBI and the DEA have indicted 14 people with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl and launder money
Officials say the drug ring based in Renton extended to multiple states
Hillaire said it was gratifying to see the tribal council spring into action
getting answers on criminal jurisdiction to block drug trafficking on tribal land
and expanding medication-assisted treatment and other support for people with substance use disorder
Federal investigators allege that the phone of one of the overdose victims had contact information linking them with the drug trafficking organization which they say was led by Marquis Jackson
Jackson’s parents Mandel and Matelita or “Marty” Jackson
Marty Jackson has been the executive director of the SE Network SafetyNet initiative through Boys & Girls Clubs of King County that receives city and county contracts for violence prevention efforts in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of South Seattle
and sends teams into Seattle Public Schools
She’s accused of helping the trafficking organization launder their money
Boys &Girls Clubs of King County referred to Jackson as a “former” employee
Seattle Public Schools provided a statement to KUOW Friday saying they have “paused” future plans with the SE Network SafetyNet initiative that Jackson led

and homeowners and contractors go to great lengths to keep thieves away from their toy-haulers and cargo trailers
But the Port of LA's police department recently busted a much larger and more organized trailer theft scheme: the department uncovered a ring of local thieves who were making off with dozens of chassis from container terminals and reselling them as new
making off with millions of dollars in ill-gotten profits.
A joint investigation by the LA Police Department and the LA Port Police revealed the existence of a large-scale trailer theft ring that had likely been working in the Port of LA since last year
Authorities believe that the criminals accessed container terminals on port grounds; stole empty chassis that were stored and awaiting use; and relocated them to a storage yard in Gardena
the gang allegedly removed all the identifying marks from the chassis
and resold them to unwitting buyers as new chassis.
In a raid on the 14500 block of South Avalon Boulevard in Gardena
10 miles north of the Port of LA, police found 24 stolen chassis with a value of about $600,000
Given the scale of the scheme and the value of each chassis
the police believe that the theft ring was earning millions of dollars in revenue.
was arrested at the storage lot and now faces potential charges of receiving stolen property
and additional arrests are expected soon; the port police are gathering information and are interested in receiving any relevant tips from the public
“The Port of Los Angeles [is] the busiest port in the United States so stopping this theft was important for everyone involved,” said LA Port Police spokesperson Lt
“Our investigation into these activities continues to evolve
but we hope this arrest sends a message to other criminals targeting the Port complex.”
I began prioritizing comfort above all else
This new philosophy meant trading a lot of my rigid underwire bras for softer
it's not always easy to find bralettes that make me feel secure and supported
underwire does a lot of the heavy lifting (quite literally) in traditional bras
I've figured out that the best bralettes for large busts have certain features in common
and deeper cups — and they're made with material that has a bit more structure.
you don't have to sacrifice support — or style — for comfort
Here are some of the best bralettes for large busts I've tested.
For more of our recommendations for folks with larger chests, see our articles on the best swimsuits for large busts.
This bralette has it all: adjustable straps
and even a bonded cradle for maximum support without the wires
I can convert the straps to a criss-cross back
making it versatile enough to wear with a range of tops and dresses
and I really appreciate that it has an adjustable band — something that a lot of bralettes are lacking
there's not much I don't like about this bralette
It even features removable cups for occasions when I need a little extra coverage — and the mesh and lace detailing add some unexpected sex appeal
"The bonded underband lifts the bust without the wires for a perky loo, and the rounded shape makes this a great non-wired t-shirt bra," says Katie Weir, the bra fitting expert and founder of Curvy Kate
thin material doesn't offer a ton of coverage
I bought this bralette on a whim when I was looking for comfy underthings to sleep in — and I'm so glad I did
I ended up ordering it in several more colors — and luckily
there are a whopping 21 options to choose from
and my go-to for lazy Sundays and Friday nights in
it is worth noting that because the fabric is so thin and there's no padding
you may want to use nipple covers if you wear it out
I also appreciate that the straps are adjustable on this one
make sure you size down if you're between two sizes to make sure you get adequate support
prevents "pancaking," wide and supportive straps
The comfort of the bralettes is down to a support feature called the "EB Core," which is a patented technology that helps keep the bra's shape while preventing "pancaking." The bralettes also have thicker straps that help with weight distribution
is fantastic for wearing under lower-cut tops because of the V-neck design
It's smoothing on your back while giving your breasts a lift that doesn't sacrifice comfort.
Despite the fact that this bralette has no cups
and the fact that [larger sizes] have a higher center gore in front to ensure less spillage," says Weir
The v-neckline gives this bralette some extra points in the versatility department
and the front-adjusting straps make finding your perfect fit so much easier. Did I mention that the fabric feels as soft as silk
Pros: You can pick your exact band size; the bras are made specifically for large bust sizes
Cons: Some reviewers say it doesn't provide enough separation between breasts
Buying a bralette in alpha sizing is almost impossible if you have larger breasts
and the cups can create an unflattering squishing effect
This bralette solves those issues by offering two cup sizes specifically for those with larger breasts: D/E and F/G
the pieces come in band sizes from 30 to 42
The Cup-Sized Lace Bralette also has convertible straps and
This means that you can keep using the piece even as the elastic stretches over time
Pros: Fastens at the back so it's easy to put on
Cons: Not great for people with larger band sizes
meaning that they specialize in bras and swimsuits for larger cup sizes
I sometimes find that brands that specialize in larger sizes often have too many support features for me
Ultra-thick straps and full-coverage bras often overwhelm my frame and make it hard to wear cute tops.
but the neckline is low enough to wear scoop-neck tops
that this brand might not work for you if you have a larger band size
My colleague was disappointed with the thinner straps and lack of significant support features — but I had no issues." —Samantha Crozier
Cons: Trickier to put on due to the long rows of hook-and-eye closures
If you're looking for a bralette that's anything but basic
This gorgeous little number proves that lingerie doesn't have to be uncomfortable: it's wireless
and offers plenty of support thanks to the longline cut and wide straps.
This is a great option for larger busts because both the straps and the band are adjustable
making it easier to achieve the perfect fit
it can take some time to fasten all the hook and eye closures in the back
but I like that there are three rows so I can tighten or loosen the band as needed.
that really make this bralette stand out — like the scalloped edge tricolor lace and multi-dimensional floral design
Racerback bras are especially well-suited to larger busts
because the X-back design offers more support
And this SKIMS bralette also features adjustable straps
which are also key for support — making it a great option for all of us in the D+ cup club
this one is made with buttery soft fabric that's so comfortable you might even forget you're wearing it
I love that it comes in such a wide range of neutrals to accommodate every skin tone
and since it's so lightweight and breathable
you won't have to worry much about that dreaded underboob sweat
The only caveat is that you can't adjust the band
it's supremely difficult to find bralettes that fit just right because most of them don't cup in band/cup sizes
the band fits perfectly but I'm spilling out of the cups
the cups fit fine but the band is way too big to offer adequate support
I was thrilled when I discovered that every size in this bralette (XXS-XXL) comes in a D/DD cup size option.
But that's not all there is to love about this bra: it feels super soft against the skin
and features a four-row hook and eye closure for max adjustability
but the floating cups are designed to mold to your unique bust size and shape
I'm not the only one who's a big fan — because this best-selling bralette has garnered hundreds of five-star reviews
Parfait is a lingerie line that specializes in accommodating larger bust sizes — I've owned several of their bras
and the quality speaks for itself: all of them have lasted at least a couple of years.
Kaitlin Vachon, a bra fitting expert and founder of Bra Emporium
says this is one of her favorite bralettes for large busts in part because it's available in traditional cup and band sizes
She also notes that the wide band and thick adjustable straps offer ample support
While it doesn't have any underwire in the cups
it does feature some side boning for a bit more structure than many other bralettes
It can easily be converted into a racerback style
Cons: Thin material offers little nipple coverage
I've been enamored with Negative Underwear for a while now — not only because of the minimalist designs
but also because of the brand's focus on sustainability: they only use high-quality fabrics that are free of harmful chemicals
Insider Reviews Executive Editor Sally Kaplan raved about this one
"Bralettes like these are really hard to get right for larger chest sizes
but this one worked incredibly well for my DDs (which are sometimes DDDs depending on the time of the month)," she said
"Of all the bralettes I've tested in my many years covering women's basics for Insider Reviews
It lifts them up without separating too much or squishing together — plus
it's the perfect silhouette for V-neck sweaters or shirts."
Cons: Can feel a little tight when you first put it on
Did you know that a majority of a bra's support comes from the band
I learned this during a bra fitting years ago
and it really stuck with me — I'd always assumed it was the straps or the cups that were holding my girls up
That's what made this Bombas bralette stick out for me: the ribbed band is wider than most
lending ample support and lift without the wires
It's also thoughtfully designed with a tighter knit in the center and around the sides for added support
I often wear this bra to sleep because the fabric is super stretchy
and breathable — but it's also great for lounging around the house or running casual errands
Note that this bralette will feel pretty snug when you first put it on
but it stretches out a teeny bit with time
A search for ICE operations or ICE raids on Google gives back a staggering amount of returns
While it’s true that ICE has been busy since Trump took office
Google would have you believe that it did more than 300 busts on January 24
clicking through to the release itself often reveals a raid that took place years ago
As first reported by The Guardian these old stories have been pushed to the top of Google search results
mixing with the very real stories of recent ICE raids and operations across the country
A closer look at the old ICE press releases shows that each got a small update around the 24th of January
websites mark old stories all the time to indicate that they’re old
Attached to the new banner is also a new bit of HTML on each old release
“Updated: <time datetime=”2025-01-24T15:28:00-05:00″ title=”01/24/2025”>01/24/2025</time>,” which would make Google see the stories as recently changed
Google weighs recency when it ranks stories in search results
but it’s not the only factor nor the determining one
it’s confusing to search for information about current ICE raids and see old press releases dated January 24
it looks like ICE is juicing public perception by updating old stories with new HTML
Looking at the HTML for these stories in the Wayback Machine shows that they’ve been edited before in the same way
I went back through the HTML of old press releases from other government websites
Old releases from the Department of Defense haven’t been updated at all
Old Department of Labor press releases do have a banner marked January 20 that indicates they may contain outdated information but there’s no timestamp in the HTML
not even one from when they were first published
and now they’re mixed in with the very real news of the current arrests and dated in Google search as if they happened four days after Trump’s inauguration
