After staying quiet throughout the summer transfer window so far
Liverpool are pushing to sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus and there could well be one or two more incomings besides
But it’s in terms of outgoings where there’s likely to be the most happening at Anfield. With a number of players slightly out of favour under Arne Slot
a few interesting transfers could still happen
Easily the most high profile player linked with an exit has been Joe Gomez. And with just days of the summer transfer window left, Liverpool have now made a decision on Gomez
After Liverpool sold Sepp van den Berg to Brentford last week Slot is now down to four senior centre-backs in his first-team squad
And with the former Charlton youngster reportedly exploring a move away
Liverpool would simply have to bring a new face in
there will be no need for the Reds to dip into the transfer market
Bailey says that despite suggestions of Crystal Palace leading the race to sign Gomez
Liverpool have decided that the 27-year-old will stay
READ MORE: Arne Slot has new explanation for why Joe Gomez wasn’t in the squad against Ipswich
“I’ve been told that he’s not going,” says the reporter
“I’m told that he’s not leaving and Liverpool are not planning on signing a defender
“I’m told that there’s nothing in the Crystal Palace links and given that he was involved at the weekend that’s the way I see it and that’s what I’m hearing as well
“I understand that he’s not leaving,” Bailey adds
“Things could still change of course but as things stand I don’t think he’ll go.”
there are still a couple of days in which this could change
Liverpool are planning ahead with the options that they have in defence
The quartet they currently can call upon are: Virgil van Dijk
Nat Phillips is also still around for the time being, but Phillips is expected to go before Friday’s deadline
If Slot sees Gomez purely as a centre-back, then, in our opinion, Liverpool are well stocked, providing everybody stays fit. 17-year-old Amara Nallo can also fill in from the academy
both Konate and Gomez have a worrying record of staying injury free
While it’s wonderful news that Joe is here to stay for a tenth season
let’s hope the lack of a new signing does not come back to bite Liverpool

Liverpool are yet to make a signing so far this summer under new boss Arne Slot but have reportedly joined the race to sign a £75m-rated defender
Slot has replaced Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout after the German departed Liverpool at the end of last season following almost a decade in charge of the Merseyside outfit
Dutchman Slot has put pen to paper on a three-year deal after moving from Feyenoord and takes charge of his first competitive game this lunchtime against Ipswich Town at Portman Road - and he has named his first matchday squad for the encounter
with one player in particular being left out of the 20
amid interest from multiple Premier League sides in his services
Gomez has been at Liverpool since 2015 since his move from Charlton Athletic and is currently the longest serving player in the Anfield squad
though speculation over his future raises the prospect the England international could be on the move
after he was named in the England squad for Euro 2024 over the summer
Though he is not being forced out of Anfield
it is said Gomez is deciding whether it is in his best interests to move on for regular game-time
with the club and player engaging in 'grown up discussions'
Liverpool have now joined the race to sign a replacement for Gomez
As per Spanish publication Fichajes, Liverpool have joined Newcastle in the race to land the signature of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi
who was a team-mate of Gomez this summer in the Three Lions squad
The Selhurst Park club have set a price of £75m for Guehi
who impressed this summer in the heart of defence alongside John Stones as he filled in for the then-injured Harry Maguire
The Magpies have made multiple bids so far to try and sign Guehi and all have been turned down by Palace
the most recent of these reported to be worth £65m plus add-ons
Guehi's Palace contract is poised to expire in the summer of 2026
so the London club are not under any immediate pressure to sell the defender
a bidding war could now begin for Guehi ahead of the transfer window coming to a conclusion at the end of this month

Newcastle United back to considering Joe Gomez as Palace mess around with Marc Guehi – Report | OneFootballThe Mag
An interesting report on Monday morning, sees claims that Newcastle United are considering a move for Joe Gomez
The Mail say that their information is that, with Crystal Palace messing Newcastle United about with Marc Guehi
NUFC are now monitoring the Liverpool defender’s situation
Liverpool won 2-0 at Ipswich on Saturday but Joe Gomez wasn’t even in the matchday squad
never mind starting that Premier League match
The Mail say that this was at the request of the England defender
It looks like Joe Gomez is set for a move away from Anfield and only a matter now of where to
He was of course linked with Newcastle United in the summer and the media claim blindly repeated time after time
was that a deal of Gomez plus £30m for Anthony Gordon had allegedly been knocked together by the two clubs
Joe Gomez is obviously a decent player but the idea of Newcastle United agreeing to let their reigning player of the season leave, for only £30m plus a Liverpool squad player, was ludicrous. These laughable repeated claims put it as Newcastle United prepared to sell Gordon for £75m and pay £45m for Joe Gomez
That claimed valuation on Anthony Gordon was clearly ridiculous
compared to what certain other players have been sold for
would he be worth £45m to Newcastle United
Maybe £30m to £35m would surely be nearer the mark
Joe Gomez is three years older than Marc Guehi and would be easily Newcastle United’s oldest outfield signing
since the initial January 2022 transfer window
when Eddie Howe desperately needed experienced readymade Premier League players to come in and do a job straight away
due to the serious relegation situation inherited from Ashley and Bruce
has actually only started 102 Premier League matches in his nine seasons at Liverpool
With 11 days to go until this transfer window closes
I find it difficult to believe that Liverpool could get any club to pay £45m for Joe Gomez and with the player clearly desperate to leave
surely he will end up sold for a more reasonable price
Interestingly, the Newcastle United claimed interest actually goes back longer
a full decade… interesting to see if he now finally arrives at St James’ Park
Charlton have at last tied down Joe Gomez to a three year contract
Charlton’s Joe Gomez only turned seventeen in May but is rated as one of the best young players in Europe
with the young defender drawing favourable comparisons to Rio Ferdinand
little wonder United were amongst a host of clubs taking an interest
Gomez was England’s star man in May when they lifted they lifted the Under 17 European Championship trophy
alongside Newcastle’s Freddie Woodman and Adam Armstrong
The young Charlton defender played in all five matches in Malta and not only was he rated England’s best player
he was also widely ranked as the player of the tournament
The local press in South London have said that with his Charlton connections, Alan Pardew had been aware of Gomez’ developing career for some time and had been very keen on the young defender
Charlton have been determined to keep hold of their exciting prospect and despite only turning seventeen in May
Gomez has now become an established part of the first team squad
including an excellent win at league leaders Norwich
The young defender is primarily a centre-back but also can play right-back
Gomez said one of the biggest reasons for sticking with Charlton was their readiness to give young players their chance in the first team;
“It has taken a little while but it is good that it’s done now and I’m happy

Arsenal get major injury boost for Champions League showdown with PSG
Joe Gomez is weighing up his future at Liverpool ahead of a possible move this summer, and four rejected bids for Crystal Palace‘s Marc Guehi could open doors
Left out of Liverpool’s travelling squad for the 2-0 win over Ipswich on Saturday
it was soon reported that Gomez was omitted after talks over his future
The 27-year-old has decided to consider his options ahead of another campaign that would see him fourth in the pecking order at centre-back
One of those is Newcastle
who already came close to signing Gomez earlier in the summer as part of Liverpool’s £75 million agreement for Anthony Gordon
Newcastle have courted Palace defender Guehi in recent weeks
but have now seen four bids for the England international rejected
• OPINION: Selling Joe Gomez would be disappointing – but it also makes sense
That could now see Newcastle turn back to Gomez, with the Mail also reporting that they are “monitoring” Liverpool’s No
Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are currently out with long-term injuries and Fabian Schar was sent off in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Southampton
meaning Dan Burn and Lloyd Kelly are Eddie Howe’s only senior options at present
It is widely reported that Newcastle are seeking a new regular starter at centre-back and it remains to be seen whether they will now go back in for Guehi
The surprise availability of Gomez could clearly change things, and Newcastle were previously willing to pay £45 million for Liverpool’s longest-serving player
That fee was agreed with the Reds and it is likely that would be their price tag for any subsequent deal before next Friday’s transfer deadline
If Gomez does leave Liverpool within the next 12 days
it remains to be seen whether a new centre-back will be targeted – with the Reds themselves known to hold an interest in Guehi in the past
Sepp van den Berg would be the likely in-house replacement
Germany and Italy interested in the Dutchman but with no offers close to his £20 million valuation
Nat Phillips remains on the books but will be moved on this summer if offers arrive, as will Rhys Williams who was not involved at all in pre-season
Billy Koumetio has already departed on a permanent deal to join Dundee
while 17-year-old Amara Nallo is highly rated but will spend the campaign as part of the U21s along with the likes of Wellity Lucky and Carter Pinnington
Liverpool are expected to sell a number of youngsters before deadline day, with another who impressed in pre-season now made available
Liverpool’s summer transfer window has been quieter than expected
but activity is ramping up as deadline day approaches
one of the key players expected to depart Anfield is Joe Gomez
DaveOCKOP who have been on the mark with their exclusives all Summer
report; “Joe Gomez is one player that is expected to depart Liverpool after a memorable career in Red
The Premier League winner is wanted by numerous clubs
Crystal Palace are the latest side to show an interest in the centre-back
The London side are leading the race to sign Gomez.”
Gomez faces limited opportunities under new Liverpool manager Arne Slot
and Ibrahima Konate ahead of him in the pecking order
Despite being included in the squad for Liverpool’s recent win over Brentford
Gomez remained on the bench throughout the match
a clear sign that his future might lie elsewhere
The London club see Gomez as a valuable addition to their squad
especially with Newcastle also showing interest in Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi
With negotiations stalling over Guehi’s £70 million price tag
Palace could turn their full attention to securing Gomez’s services
Fabrizio Romano revealed that Liverpool have entered the race to sign Juventus’ Federico Chiesa
While the Italian forward is undoubtedly talented
Juventus could be willing to part with Chiesa for a reported €20 million
making him an intriguing option for the Reds as they look to bolster their attacking options
Nat Phillips is another centre-back who could leave Liverpool before the window shuts
the club is actively seeking a permanent transfer for the defender
his salary demands could be a stumbling block for potential buyers
Liverpool’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements suggests that Phillips’ departure
The club’s activity in the final days of the transfer window will be crucial in shaping the squad for the upcoming season
the potential departure of Joe Gomez is bittersweet
Gomez has been a reliable and versatile defender
contributing significantly to the club’s success over the years
with competition for places in the heart of the defence fiercer than ever
it’s understandable that Gomez might seek regular first-team football elsewhere
Crystal Palace seems like a good fit for Gomez
and Gomez would likely become a key player in their defensive lineup
offloading Gomez would not only free up space on the wage bill but also provide funds to reinvest in the squad
Federico Chiesa’s link to Liverpool is intriguing
especially if the club sees him as a key piece of the puzzle in challenging for honours this season
Nat Phillips’ potential exit is less surprising
Liverpool’s transfer business in these final days could be pivotal
Whether it’s bringing in a new centre-back or adding attacking firepower
the club’s actions will shape their fortunes for the season ahead

OH – a suburb of Dayton – hosted eight of the best one pocket players in the world to compete in the High Stakes One Pocket Championship
was looking to add another notch to his belt
Also in this star-studded field was Tony Chohan. He is a two-time US Open One Pocket champ and the winner of this year’s Southeastern Triple Crown One Pocket Championship
Buffalo’s Pro One Pocket Championship and the Midwest Open One Pocket title
Looking for his first major one pocket title of the year and the winner of the 2021 Southeastern Triple Crown One Pocket Championship was John Morra as well as the 2013 Derby City Classic One Pocket champ and the 2019 Derby City Classic runner-up
Rounding out the field was veteran Dee Adkins
Dee was the 2000 Derby City Classic Master of the Table – need I say more
These players each paid a $5,000 entry fee to compete in this $10,000 added event
The format was double elimination – races to seven
the draw was completed and the brackets posted
Both John Morra and Roberto Gomez won two matches to play for the hot seat
John edged out Chip in the opening round 7-6 and then defeated Corey 7-3
Roberto thumped both Dee and Alex – 7-2 and 7-1
Gomez had a bit of a tougher time with Morra but he locked up his seat in the finals 7-4
Alex smoked Chip 7-1 and Evan handily defeated Corey 7-3
The following match saw Evan rocket ahead of Alex 5-2 and then the wheels came off
Missing several makeable balls let Pagulayan back into the match and he squeaked out a win 7-6
was no match for Alex as he was dusted 7-2
Morra’s consolation was third place prize and auction money while Pagulayan moved to the finals
Alex would have to defeat Roberto two sets to take top honors
The first set saw the two scratching and clawing their way to a 6-6 tie
With an opening shot and the remaining balls on the table
Roberto had his chance to end it right there but missed
Alex came to the table & methodically ran out the balls to force a second set
The second set was the same as the first – neck and neck to five apiece
Gomez won the next game – on the hill – 6-5
Pagulayan battled but Roberto took the final game and the title

LIVERPOOL are ready to join the bidding battle for England star Marc Guehi
New Kop boss Arne Slot is keen to rival Newcastle — with Crystal Palace ready to demand £75million for the England centre-back
Dutchman Slot could also lose Guehi’s Three Lions team-mate Joe Gomez as part of a mega deal to land Magpies forward Anthony Gordon
Toon have yet to make a formal offer and Liverpool are waiting in the wings to find out the price while trying to avoid an auction
Guehi, 24, was a standout star for England at Euro 2024 and Palace will have little option but to sell if the right offer comes in
He has two years left on his deal at Selhurst Park
Eze has a £60m price clause in his contract and is also being eyed by Manchester City and Tottenham
Toon boss Eddie Howe insisted he was “out of touch” with his club’s latest deals on Saturday.
On the transfer market, Howe said: “I know we’re trying. I’m not going to talk about individual deals.”
Howe is close to sealing a £10m deal for Sheffield United forward William Osula
But the Newcastle chief had a scare as Alexander Isak injured his shoulder in Toon’s 2-0 friendly loss to Yokohama F Marinos in Japan yesterday
Isak went down clutching his shoulder after a collision and was withdrawn at the break
But when asked if Isak was taken off because of an injury
we need to check out how his shoulder is.”

Liverpool are likely to still be without Federico Chiesa for the trip to Crystal Palace, but Arne Slot otherwise has a strong squad available
The Reds won 2-0 at home to Bologna on Wednesday night
The Italian’s Liverpool career is still waiting to ignite and he will again probably miss out at Palace
with Slot confirming he is a “doubt.”
Here’s who is available and who is set to miss out against Palace:
There are no new injuries for Slot to worry about from midweek
so it is a case of potentially rotating this weekend
Liverpool’s head coach has shown that he is less likely to shuffle his pack than Jurgen Klopp
That said, Diogo Jota has every chance of leading the line in place of Darwin Nunez
following a disappointing midweek showing from the Uruguayan
Meanwhile, Jayden Danns has returned to training on the outdoor pitches at the AXA Training Centre
The 18-year-old striker has been out with a back problem since pre-season
robbing him of the chance to impress Slot or head out on loan
James McConnell is still absent with an ankle issue

Selena Gomez brought her Revival Tour to the Palace of Auburn Hills Friday night
but it was more of the same from the pop singer rather than a revival
Gomez is touring behind her latest album “Revival,” her most grown-up effort yet
but her performance chops and stage presence haven’t matured much since her last visit to the Palace in November 2013
The 23-year-old has been putting out albums since 2009 – “Revival” is her fifth album – but she still seems like she’s in training for the role of pop star
or that she’s studying for an upcoming acting role
She certainly looked the part: immaculate clothing
Beyoncé-grade wind machines giving her that freshly blown look
For a Friday night concert by a star with 86 million Instagram followers
At least seven sections in the upper level were curtained off
and there were patchy spots elsewhere in the upper level
dancing behind a curtain for “Revival,” which would also close the show
The album features Gomez’s most flirtatious work to date
with songs like “Hands to Myself” and “Good For You” resting squarely in PG-13 territory
That was fine for the mostly teenage girls in attendance
and there would be no awkward conversations with their parents on the way home over the content of the show
Gomez was joined on stage by a team of nine dancers and backed by a four-piece band with two backup singers
and Gomez sprinkled audience niceties in alongside speeches about how her ups and downs have been lived out mostly in public
But things never got much deeper than surface level
now it’s time for a throwback,” she said before launching into “Slow Down,” which hails from all the way back in 2013
such as “Come & Get It” and “Love You Like a Love Song,” were given hard-edged electro makeovers – not necessarily upgrades
The best production element came during “Me & My Girls,” when she was wheeled out on a chariot to a stage with a matador theme
There weren’t any narratives tying the set together; when Gomez covered the Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams” late in the show
It didn’t seem to be used as a cautionary tale or a comment on her life
but rather just a song she wanted to perform
she didn’t sell it enough or make the significance of it evident
Larry Gomez fought fiercely for the dream he’s been nurturing for the last 18 months
but Iowa fighter De’Andre Harris battled back in the second and third rounds as Gomez’s family chanted his name while he competed in his first-round fight at the National Golden Gloves Tournament Tuesday night
“I could hear them screaming for me,” the 20-year-old West Valley fighter said smiling
Gomez said before the fight he knew he had to be patient as he stepped into the ring with the best 152-pound boxers in the country who all want what he does — a national title
may have caused him to push too hard at times
The support of his family and friends provides inspiration
who is competing in his first national tournament this week at the Salt Palace
but I was nervous because this is my first year,” he said
you feel better because you don’t have so much pressure on you
Here I have to do it for my family and my crowd.”
If a raucous section of family and friends wasn’t enough pressure
Gomez met Jazz forward Paul Millsap before his bout
and he said he was going to come watch me fight.”
After Gomez was declared the winner in a decision
Gomez said he’s trying to take in everything while still maintaining his focus
At one point his uncle warned him about being more patient and not getting himself worn out by going too hard too fast
“I’m going to take my time and land good ones.”

Richard Gomez has raised concern over the increase in the number of affirmative votes for the proposed Absolute Divorce bill
“They have already recorded the initial number of affirmative votes
and this has been reported and announced in the plenary
But now they are saying that there was an error in the counting
it was announced that 126 voted in favor of the proposed Absolute Divorce Act (House Bill 9349)
“I am puzzled about the change in the number of lawmakers who voted ‘Yes’ to House Bill No
9349 or the proposed Absolute Divorce Act from 126 to 131,” the solon said
“Was the adjustment made to address statements that the motion to approve HBN 9349 was ‘lost’ when the body failed to get the majority votes of the members who were present during last (Wednesday’s) session
I believe that the approval of the divorce bill was lost when it failed to get the majority approval of the lawmakers present when it was put to a vote
HBN 9349 has not been approved on third and final reading,” he added
House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said
“The rectification in the Records of the House will be done when Session resumes this July 2024.”
Gomez said he wanted to be clarified about the Rules of the House regarding the matter
I would like to be clarified: Is correcting the number of votes outside of the session allowed under House Rules
Because if making errors in the counting of votes is a ‘regular’ thing
how then can we be assured now sure that all the previous votes counted in relation to other measures were correct?” Gomez added

Liverpool made it six points from their opening two fixtures of 2018/19 with a highly accomplished 2-0 victory at Crystal Palace on Monday night
After a dominant first-half performance against a well-drilled Palace defence, James Milner made the breakthrough from the penalty spot after Mohamed Salah had been felled by Mamadou Sakho in the box
Roy Hodgson’s side conjured a few dangerous moments of their own, but a strong defensive display ensured another clean sheet for Liverpool, with Sadio Mane’s breakaway goal in stoppage time wrapping up the points
Here are five key talking points from an excellent win
Liverpool’s new first-choice goalkeeper picked up a clean sheet on his debut with minimum fuss, but was a virtual spectator for the vast majority of the comfortable 4-0 victory over West Ham
A trip to Selhurst Park was always going to pose a much tougher challenge
and the Brazilian stepped up magnificently with an outstanding individual display
Alisson was called into action on several occasions
making a handful of sharp saves at crucial moments
including one superb flying stop to deny Luka Milivojevic from a well-struck free-kick
It was his distribution, however, which stood out as Alisson continually picked out his team mates with pinpoint long-range passes from the back
playing a highly effective and active part in Liverpool’s buildup play
The Reds haven’t had a goalkeeper capable of playing such accurate long passes since Pepe Reina
And combined with his all-round authority and commanding presence in the penalty area, this was a hugely encouraging performance from Alisson—and a very well-earned clean sheet
Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk delivered one of the finest displays from a Liverpool centre-back partnership in quite some time
working their way through a difficult encounter with an aura of composure and assurance about their play
The dual threat of Christian Benteke and Wilfried Zaha—each posing a completely different set of problems—was a real handful
But both players were on hand to ensure any clear-cut chances were kept to a minimum
Jamie Carragher hailed Van Dijk as the best centre-back in the Premier League before the game
and the Dutchman demonstrated his credentials with an imperious performance
winning his aerial duels with Benteke and commanding his team-mates superbly to organise the back line throughout
had much more of a point to prove and came out of it with his reputation further enhanced
He showcased his intelligent reading of the game
standing up to Palace’s physicality with several meaty tackles
and used his recovery pace to prevent dangerous situations emerging when necessary
Gomez very much deserves to continue alongside Van Dijk at the heart of the defence
With both players also possessing great quality in possession
it’s a partnership which holds significant promise for the months and years ahead
Game management had been an issue for Liverpool for much of the early days of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure
but the experience this side has gained throughout the past couple of years has brought about a much more mature approach in these types of games
Liverpool won a frenetic 4-2 encounter with Palace two seasons ago under Klopp at the same ground
and came from behind to snatch a late winner last season in this fixture
they were controlled and assured from the first whistle
dictating the tempo of the game and biding their time until the opening arrived
After taking the lead just before half-time
Liverpool then had to weather a storm from Palace at the start of the second half
soaking up a spell of pressure before reasserting their dominance and keeping hold of the ball high up the pitch
A free-kick and a corner to Palace in stoppage time conjured a nervy few moments
only for Liverpool to spring on the counter-attack and kill the game off in the dying seconds after defending the corner with ease
While opposition corners would strike fear into supporters—and possibly even the players—not so long ago
they have now become a real opportunity for Liverpool to hit teams on the counter
It happened on several occasions last season—such as West Ham and Porto away—where Liverpool would win the first header from the corner and immediately spring forward in numbers to score shortly after conceding a corner
Van Dijk’s aerial dominance is key to this
given his exceptional success rate in the air
and as soon as Liverpool clear the ball from the corner
opposition teams simply don’t have time to get back into shape before the pace of Mane and Salah catches them out
That’s precisely how Aaron Wan-Bissaka ended up getting sent off on this occasion
as the Palace defender stuck out a helpless leg to bring down Salah on the counter-attack while running through one-on-one
Mane scored from a near identical situation in stoppage time after having been sent through on goal by Salah’s pass
and a type of goal we might see plenty more of this season
There was a palpable feeling of positivity and excitement around Liverpool heading into the new season
And with six points on the board from the opening two fixtures—with no goals conceded—it’s exactly the flying start Klopp and the players will have been aiming for
Inconsistent performances and results in the opening months of last season meant Liverpool were never in a position for a title challenge, as Man City pulled away from the rest by hitting the ground running from the off
they have put together back-to-back wins to start the season for the first time under Klopp
With a home game up next against Brighton
there’s a real opportunity to continue building up this momentum and capitalise on this opening block of fixtures before the international break
Liverpool had to endure a couple of nervy moments against Palace
but on the whole were very much full value for the victory
and they can take great confidence from beating an opponent whom they had previously struggled against in the fairly recent past
Not many sides will go to Selhurst and pick up three points and a clean sheet this season, and this was the ideal way to consolidate the opening-day walkover against West Ham
gritty away win—the kind upon which title challenges are built
The House Committee on Youth and Sports Development has recommended to the House of Representatives the adoption of a resolution commending Juliana Maria Beatrice Gomez for winning the 2022 Air Force Open Fencing Championships held in Thailand
House Resolution 1047 is the consolidated version of HB 613 introduced by South Cotabato Rep
Peter Miguel and HB 626 filed by Cebu City Rep
“Juliana Gomez embodies the positive traits of the Filipino women athletes who continue to break the status quo with outstanding performances in various fields of sports and competitions,” the resolution read
Gomez won the gold medal and ranked first out of 19 fencers in the Senior Women’s Epee event of the 2022 Air Force Open Fencing Championships
She scored 15-14 over Thailand’s South East Asian Games modern pentathlon national team member Natpapat Sangngio in the final round
Gomez is a member of the National Fencing Team and the University of the Philippines Fencing Team
The Epee is the largest and heaviest of the 13 fencing weapons used in the modern sport of fencing and is the only one in which the entire body is the valid target area
“Juliana Gomez’ outstanding performance once again brings honor and pride to the country and to aspiring young women athletes
and therefore deserves to be commended by the Filipino people,” the resolution further read

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been absorbing most of the accolades and Moreno has been the whipping boy as usual
Robertson’s crosses against Palace drew audible ooh’s and ahh’s from the crowd and Jon Flanagan regaining a squad position is great to see
But when the story of the 2017-18 season is written
it may be Joe Gomez that has the biggest impact in terms of retaining a top 4 position and progressing deep into the cup competitions and the Champions League
The 20 year-old has been absent with injury for almost the entirety of Klopp’s tenure and still looks rusty at times
but against Crystal Palace we saw glimpses of how he could be deployed in the months ahead
Against Watford and Hoffenheim our midfield and defence could barely slow the opposition getting into the final third
The up-and-down matches were great to watch for the neutral
but a heart-attack waiting to happen for Liverpool supporters
For Crystal Palace Joe Gomez starts on the right
but that one change impacted the responsibilities of players all over the pitch in a positive way
Trent and certainly Moreno are attacking fullbacks who provide a lot more for the Reds going forward than they do in their own half
Jurgen Klopp had his young right-back hold back in something approaching a back-three for most of the 90
This allowed Joel Matip to play in the center where he headed away everything
Matip cheating towards the middle left Klavan with less of the field to cover and they combined to render Benteke and Palace toothless
Matip turned in one of his best performances as a Red with 5 aerials won (71%)
4 tackles while contributing to the attack
even joining the midfield after Lovren was subbed on
Gomez’s presence also allowed Andy Robertson to focus exclusively on raining down crosses into Palace’s box
He spent 70% of his debut in Palace’s half
3 chances created and more touches (134) than any other Liverpool player
The faux back-three also helped cover Jordan Henderson’s apparent lack of pace and/or fitness in the midfield
If the Captain’s problems persist it may be necessary to play in this type of set-up more frequently than we imagined a month ago
It is possible that Crystal Palace are genuinely awful
but Klopp will surely have opportunities to use Gomez again
possibly on Wednesday night against Hoffenheim when we need to turn down the volume on the game rather than crank up our heavy metal football
Taking Alexander-Arnold or later in the season Clyne
but remember that Gomez initially impressed under Brendan Rodgers as a left-back
The opportunity is there for the manager to use him on either side
and allowing the full-back on the opposite side to effectively play wing-back
With a tough race ahead of us for top league positions and cagey Champions League opponents waiting for us in Europe
Joe Gomez will be a chess piece to either start or bring on late to close out games if Saturday was any evidence
Gomez does have flaws that need ironing out
as do the rest of the Reds’ young full-backs
but it’s helpful to remember that Saturday was only his 9th competitive appearance at Liverpool
Alexander-Arnold’s next match will also be his 9th
More important than Gomez’s shortcomings are those of the Liverpool squad and his presence papers over many of them
The suspicion as of this minute is that Trent will get more games than Gomez
but the development of the former Charlton man within Liverpool’s squad and how Klopp deploys him will have a major say in where we end up at season’s end
we bought him as a centre back but had to play him as an emergency left back before Klopp became the coach
He is now back after his injury problems but I believe he would prefer to play in his natural position of centre back

Crystal Palace are in pole position to land Liverpool defender Joe Gomez before Friday’s transfer deadline according to a new report.
Anfield Watch revealed four months ago that Gomez was open to leaving the club this summer in search of a new challenge.
Although the 27-year-old wouldn’t agitate for a move
he wanted the club to consider any serious offers for his services.

There was plenty of Premier League interest reported with Palace, Newcastle, Brentford, West Ham and Aston Villa all mentioned as potential destinations with the player’s preference being a move towards London
Saudi Arabian clubs also had Gomez on their radar as the SPL sought to reduce the average age of their marquee players entering the league.
Gomez was earlier this summer offered to Newcastle as part of a complex exchange arrangement involving Anthony Gordon.
It was reported that Liverpool would seek to add Gordon for £75 million with Gomez going the other way for a £45m fee.
However that deal collapsed when Newcastle sorted their profit and sustainability rules problems with other sales.
The Magpies are in talks with Palace for centre back Marc Guehi having already lost Joachim Andersen to Fulham.
That means Oliver Glasner’s side are seeking defensive reinforcements and according to DAVEOCKOP they are now leading the chase for Liverpool mainstay Gomez.
The England international has played over 200 times for the Reds since signing from Charlton back in 2015 - being the sole survivor of the entire Jurgen Klopp period.

He played 51 times for Liverpool last season
centre back and even defensive midfield.
Arne Slot left Gomez out of his opening day lineup for the Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town but he returned to the bench for the weekend win against Brentford.
He is under contract at Liverpool until 2027 and it is believed the club would seek £45m for his signature.
