Cavalier Genève had never used a viso Jalapa
Rather than change that fact unceremoniously
the company made the point loud and clear by naming the cigar after that specific kind of tobacco
In June
Cavalier Genève began shipping the BII Viso Jalapa
a regular production five-vitola line that utilizes not only the aforementioned wrapper
but also an internal blend made up entirely of Nicaraguan habano tobaccos
All five vitolas are box-pressed and come packaged in 20-count boxes
“We have been preparing the arrival of the BII Viso Jalapa for a long time and are really excited to see it shipping to our retail partners across the country,” said Sebastien Decoppet, founder of Cavalier Genève, in a press release
“We believe that the line is a different and exciting take on the viso Jalapa leaf
This line complements what Cavalier Genève’s portfolio offers.”
the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Toro is gorgeous
with a medium reddish-brown wrapper and an understated band below the company’s signature diamond-made of 24-karat gold leaf
there is a bit of oil noticeable on the smooth-to-the-touch wrapper as well as a slight box-press and the cigar is nicely spongy when squeezed
The aroma from the wrapper includes notes of strong cedar
the cold draw includes flavors of lemon rind
graham cracker sweetness and a slight floral flavor
the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Toro has a combination of dark chocolate and graham crackers on the palate
The retrohale features a generic vanilla sweetness and black pepper in almost equal amounts
and there is a very small amount of spice noticeable on my lips
the cigar has a wonderful draw after a simple straight cut
and while the burn is far from razor sharp
it is also far from needing any sort of correction
Body is mild while the strength level is virtually non-existent this early on
barely passing a point halfway between mild and medium by the time the first third ends
There are some major changes in the profile of the BII Viso Jalapa during the second third
which shifts from the dark chocolate and graham crackers combination to a distinct buttered popcorn note
earth and very slight citrus flit in and out in various amounts
while the graham cracker sweetness is now located exclusively on the retrohale
where it combines nicely with the black pepper that is still present
the burn continues to give me no major issues and the draw continues to give me just the right amount of resistance
While the strength level increases from the first third
ending the second third just a bit closer to the medium mark than it was before
While the final third of the Cavalier Genève retains the buttered popcorn note as the main flavor in the profile
the secondary notes are not far behind at all
It’s a list that includes creamy cedar
the burn has become problematic enough that I am forced to touch it up twice in fairly close succession
the strength increases a bit more compared to the second third but ultimately stalls out at a point noticeably below the medium mark by the time I put the nub down with a little more than an inch left
Smooth as silk with an extremely well-balanced profile
the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Toro features flavors that change constantly as it burns down
The somewhat lighter than medium strength level—at best—is well integrated
with only a single sample needing more than one touchup in the two-hour smoking time
the BII Viso Jalapa is a great addition to Cavalier Genève’s lineup and is seemingly made for those looking for a full-flavored
medium-bodied blend at a price that is tough to beat

This work presents a specialized design for citizen attention in order to strengthen community outreach and the prevention of domestic violence
2023.- In order to strengthen the security and well-being of approximately 26,000 inhabitants of the municipality of San Luis Jilotepeque
and in a joint effort to safeguard the rights and freedoms of the community
the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) supported the construction of the new police station
recently inaugurated by the Ministry of the Government (MINGOB)
The new police substation has a specialized design for citizen attention
as well as to improve community outreach and the prevention of domestic violence
It will also house 30 police officers and a specialist to assist victims of sexual and domestic violence
This 322.5 square meter building offers administrative areas
dormitories and spaces dedicated to operational planning for prevention and criminal investigation
which will contribute to greater efficiency in the performance of police personnel's duties
The new infrastructure is part of the Justice Sector Investment and Modernization Program
which seeks to contribute to improving security and the common good of Guatemalans
as well as the prospects for competitiveness in order to achieve a prosperous region full of opportunities
The initiative represents an important step forward in the Infrastructure and Mobility Axis of the Police Transformation Strategy implemented by the Government of Guatemala through MINGOB
Cavalier Genève announced that it would be expanding its BII Viso Jalapa line with a new limited edition made of Nicaraguan-grown tobaccos
It’s called the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 and uses a viso wrapper grown in Nicaragua’s Jalapa region
a beefy 5 1/4 x 56 robusto gordo that is notable as being the first round offering in the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa line; the regular production sizes are box-pressed
This release is also notable for coming in 11-count boxes
with each box containing 10 of the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 and then a single cigar of a different
All of the cigars were produced by Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco S.A.
though the 11th cigars are said to be rolled by the factory’s manager and general manager
Production is limited to 1,948 hand-numbered boxes of 11 cigars
with pricing set at $137.50 per box and $12.50 per cigar
The regular production Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa debuted in June 2022
and was notable for being the first time that the company has used a Jalapa-grown viso wrapper
all of which get a box press and comes in 20-count boxes
Note: The following shows the various Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa vitolas
Some of these cigars may have been released after this post was originally published
I really wish I had smoked the original Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa line to have a more informed comparison about the Limited Release 2022
what I can say is that the Limited Edition is a rather impressive cigar
particularly in how the intensity of the flavors progress from start to finish and what that allows the cigar to show
While a pepper bomb out of the gate is fun every once in a while
having a cigar be more approachable tends to be more my speed
which is what the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 is
and then another rise as the cigar comes to a close
While I didn't find the cigar to add and subtract flavors along the journey
the near-constant rebalancing of what it does offer is more than enough to keep my senses engaged
I also found the addition of retrohales to be beneficial to showing a bit more depth than what the taste buds alone might pick up
While I might want a bit less intensity in the final third
I was quite satisfied by what this cigar had to offer
Once again Cavalier Gèneve has impressed me with a solid offering that I would gladly smoke again and recommend
the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 doesn’t seem like quite as thick of a cigar once it is out of it
It’s a thick robusto gordo that feels manageable largely because of its relatively short length; if this had another inch or so on it I would be quick to call it a large cigar
The front of the cigar has a beautiful presentation
with bands that are a bit understated and contrasted by the company’s signature gold leaf diamond and a pair of bands that shine against the wrapper
The wrapper is a matte shade of brown that reminds me of darker almonds
while a bit of very fine texture is found by my fingers
There appears to be some water spots on the first wrapper
which is odd to see on any premium cigar’s wrapper
some are more prominent than others but none are obtrusive
The foot offers an aroma that is light and very approachable
reminding me of opening a fresh bag of white bread
There is some related sweetness as well but very little if any pepper or other supporting aromas other than a thick floral note that appears in one cigar
and as soon as I put the cigar in my mouth
I’m greeted by a fairly intense tingle from the tobacco as it touches my lips
The flavor is a bit thicker and heartier than what the cold draw offered
though it’s not because of pepper or a different offering of flavors
which for some reason seems to go hand-in-hand with the slower airflow
The Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 gets underway with a very approachable profile
starting with a creamy base and adding some dry
My next note about the cigar is that the ash is pretty fragile
as the first clump—or first slice in one case—drops off not long after I’ve processed and written down the above notes
There’s an interesting one-two flavor punch from the cigar
but on the exhale the profile gets heavier and punchier
starting with some soil that is bridged by dry woods to a finish of black pepper
It’s a rather interesting sensation that elongates each puff
particularly if I’m really locked in on it
Retrohales are a bit more pepper-forward with a mix of sensations
starting heavier and punchy before getting light and bright
though not enough to make the cigar unapproachable
Whether simply exhaling the smoke or retrohaling it
each puff in the first inch or so offers a fairly dynamic experience that gets things off to a very good start
There’s a shift to more wood as the first third begins to come to a close
and it feels like the creaminess is beginning to fade a bit
the better my impression is of the profile
Flavor is medium with some accents that can nudge it up a tick or two
the construction of the cigar is very good in terms of draw
The second thirds of the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 generally start with a pronounced mellowing of the profile’s intensity
as the overall impact of the cigar on my palate gets turned down several clicks
the body of the smoke stays thick and full on the taste buds
so it’s not like puffs just disappear
as with the cigar mellowing and becoming increasingly familiar
I don’t want to say that the cigar is getting boring
but it’s not doing much to keep my attention at the moment
I get re-engaged with the cigar by way of retrohales that have also mellowed but still pack a decent bit of pepper
though it now tastes a bit like a coffee creamer flavored with hazelnut that leads back to the cigar’s woody undertones
The second third is notable for the mellowing of the flavor intensity
Body remains medium-plus and strength still has yet to leave mild territory
the final third of the Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Limited Release 2022 starts with the flavors waking back up and becoming more vibrant on my taste buds
sometimes simply bringing back their original intensity and other times feeling like they are flowering and going in some different directions
The woodiness of the profile is one of the first to stand out
as it is dry and very tingle-inducing on the taste buds
though I find most of its impact to come via retrohales
There’s a certain edge to the flavor now that I didn’t taste earlier
and while my first thought is to call it slightly metallic
the less I feel that it is the most appropriate word
It’s almost as if the pepper has picked up a dampness to it that it is altering its flavor
which then leads me to think of the flavor of smoking a freshly-rolled cigar that has a bit too much moisture in it as part of the rolling process
Yet there is nothing in how the cigar is performing to indicate that it is over-humidified
The cigar then pivots into a vibrant earthy profile that is middle-of-the-road in terms of its weight on the palate
with an accompanying pivot by the pepper and some additional woodiness that leans into flavors of a toasted
There’s a bit of creaminess that joins the profile just as the burn line starts to touch the gold diamond as well
The flavor intensity ticks up once again in the final inch or so
as heat seems to be sharpening up the profile and adding just a bit of char to the finish
The final puffs of this section can be really hit-or-miss depending on just how much effect the heat seems to have on the flavor; two of the cigars were fine with some minor irritation
while the third was a good bit harsher and had me putting the cigar down with just over an inch to go
Construction remains fantastic in all aspects
body is medium-plus and strength is medium
I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories
it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it
the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together

There a variety of different reduxes we can attempt to perform, this is the one that falls into the category of the kind where we review a regular production version of a cigar that we originally reviewed in prerelease form. This was one of the pleasant surprises from last year
Here is what I said at the bottom of last year’s review:
The question you are wondering is does this taste like the España
The Quesada Jalapa is a very good cigar right now and dare-I-say-it
This is not a cigar really made to compete with anything
With so much of the market focused on putting out Ecuadorian Connecticut-wrapped cigars made to have bolder flavor and bigger bodies for a more advanced consumer
the Jalapa just accomplishes the end goal better
the creaminess somehow differentiates itself and there are reminders of complexities like orange peel and leather along the way
this isn’t like anything Quesada has put out on the market—plain and simple
I’ve smoked a half dozen or so since the trade show
but it’s been a few months since I’ve smoked
particularly one that came fresh from the shelves of a retailer
The cigar smells a bit different from I recall
While the Jalapa Belicoso looks quite similar
albeit a tad darker than I remember the versions last year
it’s got a much more bread-like note
and notes of creaminess with no pepper to speak of
The foot is similar to some added earth and cranberries
vanilla extract earth and a bit of a restrained sweetness
It’s very clean with some butter and a hearty woodsiness
the cigar seems rather Cuban-like through the nose with the sort of clean delicate notes that I associate with some of the milder Habanos S.A
The orange peel notes emerge much quicker than I found on earlier examples
with the citrus flavors taking shape early in the second third
While the cigar is dominated by the buttery cedar
there’s also a distinct saltiness and vanilla extract that join in the second and final third respectively
the cigar’s legendary burn didn’t make an appearance
While the burn is good; it’s thick and hardly exceptional
There is however two inch chunks of ash and lots of smoke
So much smoke that this picture was actually difficult
The cigar itself wasn’t Quesada’s best example in rolling with some noticeable filling issues
but the biggest annoyance was actually the band
which seemed to be sitting on my lip whenever the cigar was in my mouth
I think the Jalapa Belicosos were slightly cleaner off the truck
but they have gotten more robust with time
one that would be part of a daily rotation if such thing existed for me
strength and body wouldn't suggest something completely different from what the company is generally known for

At the 2016 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, Quesada unveiled the first new Casa Magna release in five years.[ref]The first new nationally-related Casa Magna brand in five years.[/ref] Dubbed the Casa Magna Jalapa Claro
the cigar was only available to retailers who placed orders at the show
“With the current regulatory environment
the IPCPR is a crucial organization to ensuring the future of the cigar industry
and so we want to reward those who support it by attending the annual trade show with this exclusive edition of our most acclaimed brand,” said Terence Reilly
the new cigar incorporates the same binder and filler as the original Casa Magna line
but replaces the Colorado leaf on that blend with claro-colored wrapper that is grown in Nicaragua’s Jalapa valley
Only 500 20-count boxes of each vitola was produced and the cigars were rolled at Plasencia Cigars S.A
The Casa Magna Jalapa Claro Toro is really a gorgeous specimen
with a red-brown wrapper that is extremely smooth to the touch and a number of veins present
The cigar is a bit firm when squeezed and the cap seems well applied
Aroma from the wrapper is a combination of sweet oak
while the cold draw brings flavors of sweet oak
The Casa Magna Jalapa Claro Toro starts off with a wonderful combination of roasted peanuts and espresso
followed closely behind by notes of creamy leather
There is a noticeable amount of orange sweetness on the retrohale
as well as some great white pepper on the retrohale
but both of those are fairly restrained in the profile so far
There is just a touch of spice on my tongue that does not seem like it will stick around very long
The draw has an excellent amount of resistance on the draw after a straight cut
it is nowhere close to needing to be corrected so far
the smoke production is quite high off of the foot
and really does not seem to want to go anywhere before the first third comes to an end
While the roasted peanuts and espresso beans both retain the dominant spot in the profile during the second third of the Jalapa Claro Toro
a host of new flavors comes to the forefront as well
The orange sweetness from the first third is still very much present
but seems to be receding as the second third moves to its conclusion
while the white pepper on the retrohale is virtually unchanged
the draw continues to impress and while the burn remains a touch wavy
it is still not bad enough for me to correct
and while the overall strength has increased noticeably
it still fails to reach the medium mark by the end of the second third
the final third of the Casa Magna Jalapa Claro has some issues
with the flavors losing the distinctness that was so prevalent in the prior two thirds
there is not one flavor that dominates the rest
Both the orange sweetness and white pepper are still obvious in the profile
with the sweetness in particular taking a major hit
the burn is bad enough that it forces me to correct it
but the draw is as excellent as the first two thirds
The strength hits a point close to the medium mark just as I put the nub down with less than an inch to go
well constructed smoke that would make an excellent morning cigar

Coffee originated in Ethiopia as an understory crop—a term used to describe crops that are grown beneath a canopy of trees. Coffee plants naturally need shade to grow, but that canopy of trees also helps nurture biodiversity on farmlands, creating a healthy habitat for a wide variety of flora and fauna, while also preventing topsoil erosion.
In Jalapa, PUR Projet helps the Nespresso AAA program farmers plant native timber and fruit trees both inside and outside of coffee fields to protect the crops.
Nespresso’s Jalapa agroforestry partnership with PUR Projet is part of the company’s global vision not only to ensure a sustainable supply of high-quality coffee, but also to support local communities to grow coffee on climate change resilient farms that reflect and help restore the coffee’s original ecosystem.
That natural way is also a more lucrative one for farmers. Not only are they producing more of the high-quality coffee that earns a premium from the Nespresso AAA program, they’re also growing more than coffee on their farms.
“Trees offer diversified sources of income to farmers: fruits, timber, fuelwood, medicines,” says Lecomte. “High-value tree species can serve as well as a ‘safety net’ for farmers to pay for schooling or medical fees. Some call (the trees) their ‘pension fund,’ as they plan to cut some of these trees when they retire to cover their expenses.”

it is like running into an old friend and trying to remember his or her name
When the anthers and the stigma are placed at different levels
it forces the pollinator to make contact with the receptive anterior side of the stigma before it touches the anthers
The process increases the chances that pollen on an approaching pollinator will be deposited on the receptive side of the stigma
pollen placed on the pollinator while in the flower is not rubbed off on the receptive part of the stigma when it exits the flower
This insures that pollen from the same flower is not deposited on the stigma of the flower
thereby increasing the chances of cross-pollination
Although I did not come back later in the evening to look for pollinators
it is known that Mirabilis jalapa is pollinated by hawk moths
Most moth-pollinated plants flower after sunset
All of these features characterize hawk moth-pollinated plants
It has been demonstrated that colder weather makes hawk moths inactive and results in self-pollinated flowers
hawk moths are more active on warmer nights
resulting in more flowers being cross-pollinated
I was able to search for information about it on the internet
the first step in finding out more information about it
There is still so much to understand about plants that I learn something novel with every walk I take in a new city
Whether exploring the world of plants for enjoyment or as an aspect of scientific study
understanding how flowers are pollinated and seeds dispersed
I find the best way to remember what you learn is to take pictures of more than just the habit of the plant
because many common plants have had their portraits taken many times
relatively few close-up images have been snapped of the fine details of flowers
and seeds–even in the case of the most common plants
Isn’t this called Belle de Nuit (Beauty of the Night)
I saw many interesting plants on my trip to São Paulo and will be discussing them and many other spectacular plants in future posts
My main interest in the genus Mirabilis is in M
I have managed to produce seed crops from it
although it I would love to learn more about how it is pollinated in its native range
it is also called the belle de nuit because it is in full flower during the night
It is also called the 4 o’clock plant because the current day’s flowers open around 4:00 pm
Thanks for tell us about Mirabilis expansa
It was great to learn about the edible tubers it produces
The flowers are nocturnal and have a long tube indicating that they are also pollinated by hawk moths
I made a mistake in my discussion of Mirabilis jalapa (see my labels on the images)
The petals have been lost and it is the sepals that have fused to form what looks like a corolla tube but is really a sepal tube

JAL Vs MSY Dream11 Team Probable Playing 11 And Match Report: Masaya carry a slender but pivotal lead of the second round of their final against Jalapa
Striving to make it into the upper tier of football in Nicaragua
Deportivo Masaya pulled off a stunning win over Jalapa in their first round of the Liga Primera Relegation 2019-20 final
Despite being down 1-0 in the early exchanges of the tie and reduced to 10 men
the side was brimming to the fore with exuberant confidence to scrape its way to an unlikely 2-1 win
Whilst the lead is an extremely bleak one as they take on Municipal Jalapa once again today
the one goal cushion does provide some kind of solace to the visitors
one which will allow them to control today’s encounter and try and dictate play as they look to fulfil their aspirations of playing in the marquee league next year
Masaya will be well aware of the fact that things are far easier said than done
This will far from be a straightforward one for them with Jalapa unbreachable in their home stadium
a tie where Masaya’s every last bit of resolve and grit will come into play if they are to come out unscatahed from the day’s outing
Given the ramifications stemming from today’s outing
this clash is going to be an absolute feast for the eyes
We are going to be in for a resounding cracker of a fixture
a clash where either side will throw the kitchen sink and more in a bid to stoke their club’s ardent supporters
What will favour Jalapa on the day is their exemplary attacking unit
one which will send out ruthless attack after attack to breach the opposition and pull off a compelling win for the side
Nicaragua Liga Primera Relegation 2019-20
Match: Municipal Jalapa Vs Deportivo Masaya Final
The only reason Masaya are going to be making an advent into today’s clash with a lead in their favour is down to the incredible display Carballo pulled off for the side on the day
It was a truly determined and resistance show of goal-keeping from him
one which saw him cover his tracks with save after save to make him our shot stopper today
With this set to be an extradonaire goal scoring tie
we found it best to limit our side to the three defensive options
And all of them are going to be making an advent from Jalapa with us opting for this trio from the side owing to the attacking shot in the arm the three players are capable of providing to the side
Their attacking penchant and affinity for providing unstinted support to the side’s attacking soirees see us opt for Delvin Siles
Jehu Flores and Adolfo Colindres from the side
Ronaldo Rocho from Masaya exemplified his stature at the club
The player is someone brimming to the fore with flair and calibre
a name who has been accorded a free role by the side to become the fulcrum of the side’s attacking docket
we have an entire trivalent make its way into our ambit from Jalapa with us venturing in with two goal man Luis Galeno as the first name for the day
He’s partnered by Marlon Medina with Edry Centeno coming in to wrap up the trio owing to the player’s expansive and enthralling relentless attacking capabilities
Taking his tally upto the six goals for his side this season after scoring the last time these two met
Gabriel Augusto-Coelho showed why he’s the heartbeat of his side’s attacking gameplan with an exemplary performance
with Jalapa wavering and waning in defence
we are going to move in from a duo from Masaya
one which will see the electric and gripping Luna and Jonathan Valoyes being snagged by us owing to their attacking acumen
Gabriel captains our side while Galeno is the vice-captain
