The Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona has been named best Grand Prix of 2024
the event had everything – from its impact beyond the sport as we went racing for Valencia to the history made on track as Jorge Martin won his first MotoGP™ World Championship
the Solidarity GP also made 2024 a record year for MotoGP as the sold-out capacity took season attendance over 3 million for the first time in history
which is voted for by the teams’ association (IRTA) and ratified by the Grand Prix Commission
the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will now be presented with the 2024 trophy
Minister of Business and Labour of the Generalitat de Catalunya and President of Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya: “The Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona demonstrated the incredible power of solidarity
It was a logistical and organisational challenge that was expertly managed by the professionals at the Circuit
who came out in support of Valencia and all those affected by the damage caused by the Dana.”
President of IRTA: “We are very proud of how the sport came together in Barcelona
The impressive impact of the Solidarity GP racing for Valencia is something we all contributed to
and the incredible effort to stage an event in such a short time makes it even more unique
For that alone it would be a lead candidate for Best GP
but it was also an event that truly reached the level in every other way
“Sporting history was made with the first Independent Team rider to win the MotoGP crown
everything in the paddock was organised and supplied like we had begun planning the event months before
All we can say is thank you to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and their staff who made it happen
thank you to everyone in the sport who worked together so well
and thank you to the fans who came to the season finale to see history made
made such a valuable contribution to our collective efforts to support Valencia in their time of need.”
CEO of MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports: “The Solidarity GP was one of the biggest feats in the modern history of our sport
We want to thank everyone who made it possible and congratulate the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on receiving this award
It’s testament to everything we worked on together behind the scenes to create an incredible spectacle
a fantastic atmosphere and an extraordinary positive impact
we want to thank the fans for making it a sold-out event
We couldn’t have dreamed of that when we first announced this Grand Prix
but when ticket sales opened we realised it was going to be even more special than we thought
and for being a huge part of everything we’ve achieved together racing for Valencia.”

It was an emotional opening day of the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona
Organizers flew banners and raised money for the victims of the flooding that forced MotoGP to move the race scheduled for Valencia to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
It also was emotional for three MotoGP riders – Augusto Fernandez
Takaaki Nakagami and Aleix Espargaro – who are racing for the last time in their careers
With nothing to lose and a title on the line
Francesco Bagnaia pushed hard and topped the last practice session
With the temperature dropping precipitiously at the end of the day
Championship leader Jorge Martin tried to respond when title rival Bagnaia went quickest
Martin pushed the front and nearly crashed
saving a front-end slide that left his feet off the pegs
Staging a MotoGP event is a massive operation
With only days to prepare for the race in Barcelona
MotoGP employees on Friday were still cranking out the promotional and informational materials needed for the weekend

Francesco Bagnaia’s best chance of keeping his title hopes alive until Sunday’s Grand Prix race meant that he needed to win Saturday’s Sprint and hope other riders finished ahead of Championship leader Jorge Martin
needed to stay upright and not get involved in a battle with anyone
“Everyone did what they needed to do today,” Martin said after the race
Bagnaia quickly forced his way into the lead and won
and Jorge Martin finished third after offering absolutely no defense against Enea Bastianini’s last-lap lunge down the inside into Turn Five
Martin happily pocketed the third-place points
That means that even if Bagnaia wins Sunday’s Grand Prix race
Martin can finish ninth and still take the title

The 2024 MotoGP™ finale has arrived and ahead of three days of title-defining track action taking place at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona
the two Championship contenders – Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) – faced the media on a Thursday for the final time this season to discuss #TheRematch decider in the sole Press Conference
and I am very excited to be here battling with Pecco for another World Championship
we are both able to make the difference compared to the rest
It’s really good that we are Racing for Valencia
I think it’s really good that in the case that we are racing
and I’m looking forward to riding because this week
but the important thing is that tomorrow we are finally on track and I can enjoy the weekend and try to be competitive.”
How do you see your chances of retaining the #1 plate after Sunday
I want to say that I’m happy to be racing here
I think it is a great mission for us to help Valencia and for what happened in Valencia
we know that gaining 24 points across a single race weekend is quite difficult
and my mission will be to win both races and what will happen will happen on Sunday
so we have to take it as an advantage and try to be perfect
and third place finished 11 seconds behind us
so I think we showed again that we were on another level
I really hope that someone else will be in the mix
I know that Jorge can be smoother and wait a bit longer
I think he can finish in seventh in both races and still win the title
and we will have to wait until Sunday.”

Hat-trick hero: Bagnaia retains Assen crown ahead of Martin
It’s now 10 points in it at the top of the table and a little further back to #MM93 after a tyre pressure penalty sees the eight-time World Champion classified tenth
Francesco Bagnaia’s Motul TT Assen couldn’t have been better
The Ducati Lenovo Team rider did the double from pole
with a Sunday masterclass cutting the Championship deficit to just 10 points as Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) was forced to follow him home and focus on limiting the damage
Bagnaia is the first rider to win three successive MotoGP™️ Grand Prix races in a single season since he did it in 2022 with four in a row from Assen to Misano
it’s his third win in a row at the TT Circuit Assen
and he equals Casey Stoner’s 23 wins with Ducati to tie the MotoGP™ Legend as the two most successful riders with the Borgo Panigale factory
Martin will now look to use his right of reply in Germany
Meanwhile, Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) charged up from a tougher qualifying to complete the podium
denying Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing). Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) was also denied after crossing the line in fourth
with a tyre pressure penalty dropping him to P10
Bagnaia nailed the start to take the holeshot
with Viñales just holding onto second to deny Martin
the #89 launched it to near perfection from his P5 after that three-place penalty
and soon enough he did get it done to take over in second
was on the march and soon put his own moves on Viñales to slot into third
That duo stayed glued together as the battle behind was hotting up. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) had shot up past front-row starter Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™)
but soon it was Di Giannantonio on the move
caught the Marquez-Viñales duo and then pounced on the Aprilia at the final chicane
the yellow flash of the VR46 machine went past
but with Marquez also seeming to gesture at the Italian and make it a little easier for him too
Expecting to have been in a group fight and set up for it? Wanting a reference to follow
with Viñales on their tail and Acosta on his
however, Bastianini was cutting the deficit to the podium battle
Marc Marquez didn’t seem to want to take advantage
Bastianini was then right on that trio once again
A lap later he did a near carbon copy on Marquez to take over in fourth
with a bit of a closer racing kiss for the #93
who headed wide but recovered it in time to keep Di Giannantonio at bay
and it looked like Viñales and Bastianini had disappeared up the road
the ‘Beast’ struck for the podium and got past Viñales with four full laps remaining
and from there the group couldn’t quite stay with him
By the penultimate lap it then looked like a Viñales-Marquez duel for the podium
and then Viñales headed just wide enough to allow Marquez through
leaving it an Aprilia-VR46 drag to the line for fifth instead
Viñales was forced to drop one position due to exceeding track limits at the chicane
and then the tyre pressure penalty for Marquez saw the #93 drop to P10
Bagnaia’s masterclass puts the cherry on top of a weekend that saw him top every session bar Warm Up
Bastianini takes back-to-back podiums to recover from a P10 qualifying
and it’s Diggia classified fourth ahead of Viñales
with Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) taking P6 after a quiet but valuable ride
Alex Marquez takes P7 ahead of a solid result for Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing) in eighth
with Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac Racing) next up ahead of the #93 completing the top ten
one piece of tougher news on the grid was for Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™)
who suffered a big crash at Turn 1 and was declared unfit for a right wrist fracture
a venue we’ve seen Martin deny Bagnaia before… and some of the most successful turf Marc Marquez has ever raced
Will the number 93 be able to find that form at one of his true signature tracks
or do his rivals have a statement of their own up their sleeves

Yoshimura SERT Motul has banked a win double in the FIM Endurance World Championship
coming out on top of an epic EWC title showdown by landing back-to-back Bol d’Or victories at Circuit Paul Ricard
The Suzuki-powered outfit’s riding trio of Gregg Black, Dan Linfoot and Étienne Masson performed without error to secure Yoshimura SERT Motul’s second EWC crown – the first since 2021 – to go with the 11 titles won when the France-based squad ran under the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team banner

Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team began the Bol d’Or title decider leading the standings as one of five teams in championship contention
Although it completed the Formula EWC podium in third
it fell short in its efforts to defend the EWC title it won in 2023 after two time-consuming unscheduled pitstops dropped it back.

The motor industry is an important part of the modern world
but it is a significant contributor to the climate crisis
It is the role of companies like Motul to develop new formulas which will tackle the challenges of tomorrow
Motul is known worldwide as an engine oil manufacturer
Partner to some of the most prestigious car makers
the brand has built an impressive reputation
even amongst the world’s largest oil & gas companies
It also boasts a remarkable history of innovation
as the inventor of the multigrade engine oil
and then both the world’s first semi-synthetic and the world’s first fully synthetic engine oils
Motul pioneered the use of esters in engine oil and introduced ester coreò - Motul’s secret for providing the best protection - to create Motul 300V
Motul marked its 170th year in business with a further historic milestone in lubricant development: NGEN
says: “NGEN is the most important launch for Motul in years
a product that mixes innovation and performance.”
“It has always been in Motul’s DNA to tackle new challenges
In this changing world we have to think about our activities and their impact on the environment.”
NGEN’s uniqueness relies on being made of regenerated base oils
These are highly processed and filtered used engine oils
which Motul transforms into a high-quality product and which
mixed with some of its highest-performing formulas
has produced one of the best engine oils available on the market
regenerated oils had a very bad reputation
These oils are performing even better than their fully synthetic counterparts - and this is just the beginning of the NGEN revolution!”
is the perfect product for leisure and adventure riders
who look for performance and protection to go miles and miles further and open up to new perspectives
Whereas NGEN 5 is dedicated to leisure and casual riders
who like to feel the breeze and the engine roar in their quest for freedom
Therefore this oil offers higher performance
together with improved clutch response for powerful engines
as well as having high temperature resistance and strong clutch grip
The NGEN range follows Motul’s mantra of performance first – no compromise
But it does so in an environmentally conscious way
ensuring the best quality and protection in all conditions

The brand will continue as the official lubricant partner of the iconic French race through 2029
French lubricant and motor product manufacturer Motul has announced the renewal of its long-standing partnership with motor racing's FIA governing body
its World Endurance Championship (WEC) competition
which organizes the iconic annual 24 Hours of Le Mans race
Motul will continue as the official lubricant of the 24 Hours of Le Mans
its motorcycle companion the 24H Motos (also organized by the ACO)
and of the WEC (of which the 24 Hours of Le Mans is part)
in advance of the race's 2024 edition taking place across the weekend in France
Motul has been the official lubricant partner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2016
and this partnership was entrenched further in 2022 when it became the title sponsor of a particular corner of the track
Alongside the continuation of the naming deal for the corner
Motul will also retain branding around the track and the event overall at Le Mans
The lubricant brand’s affiliation with the 24 Hours of Le Mans stretches back 70 years
and ACO president Pierre Fillon has now said: “I’m very happy to be renewing our partnership with Motul
a loyal partner and an expert in its field
In one of the most exciting eras of endurance racing
I’m delighted that this key partnership for the l'Automobile Club de l'Ouest will continue.”

Historic racing cars are temperamental things
They require an awful lot of care and attention to keep them in perfect running order
and during the Goodwood Revival Motul has been busy helping teams to monitor their car’s health
The Motul Racing Lab in the Revival paddocks is a hub that teams can make use of throughout the weekend to monitor the quality of their oil and by extension
Motul technicians have been busy taking oil samples and testing them with cutting edge technology to provide feedback on engine health and advising if any issues arise
The test involves burning the oil in something called an optical emission spectrum
which can see tiny particles of contamination through specific wavelengths of light
Things they’ll be looking out for include traces of metal that have worn from the engine itself
oil dilution from things like fuel or coolant
and even checking the chemistry of the oil itself to ensure it is still performing as it should be
the lab can report back to the teams if there are any doubts or issues with their engine prior to racing at the Revival
We spoke to a technician at the lab who reported that Lotus Classic had once been notified of suspected wear to a bottom-end bearing prior to racing
and took the decision to fix the engine which could have suffered a catastrophic failure
A further test after the work was complete indicated the rebuild was indeed necessary
The cars at the 2024 Goodwood Revival have been faced with a new variable in the form of sustainable fuel
Every single competitor was mandated to run these new fuels
but Motul has reported that they have made no difference to the health and running of these engines
Our technician said: “We've done a lot of samples where these classic cars are running these sustainable fuels and we don't see any major differences from using generic pump fuel
It’s not necessarily affecting the oil’s health
we don’t see a massive jump in fuel dilution
and in terms of wear metal content everything seems fine from our end.”

We’re already pretty miffed to be missing out on the Acura NSX Type S here in the UK
and French lubricant company Motul has just made this even worse with the press release it just popped in our inbox
With tweaked styling including a new front end with bigger, angrier intakes, the hottest version yet of the second-generation Honda NSX doesn’t need much help in the looks department
Intended to mark the 50th anniversary of the ‘300V’ race oil
the red and white NSX takes inspiration from Motul-sponsored racing cars of the past
Complementing this nicely is a set of FMR 527M two-piece wheels finished in brushed gold
Unlike the NSX Super GT car Motul sponsors
Motul is calling this collaboration with Acura a ‘digital livery’
Once there are a few more Type S NSXs kicking around
perhaps Acura can spare one for wrapping purposes - after all
and this seems the ideal piece of stand candy for either brand
be some IRL 300V celebrations at the 2021 Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach IndyCar round this weekend
the Type S features a 3.5-litre V6 with turbochargers
intercoolers and fuel injectors pinched from the NSX GT3 car
increasing the 573bhp output of the standard car to 592
That tweaked body features a carbon fibre roof and a restyled rear end
the Type S has been given tweaked suspension
which offers better “emotional connection,” whatever that means
Although the NSX hasn’t exactly been a runaway sales success
the Type S has proven popular - it sold out within hours of orders opening

Motul’s latest engine oil series and quite possibly the brand’s most audacious step forward in its 170-year history
if you’ve ever turned a wrench or twisted a throttle
you’d know that Motul isn’t just some shelf-sitter in a supermarket aisle
This is the company that brought the world the first fully synthetic four-stroke lubricant back in 1971
But even legends know when it’s time to evolve
Launched across Asia Pacific with much fanfare
the NGEN series is Motul’s answer to a future that demands both performance and eco-consciousness
The line-up kicks off with two flag bearers: NGEN 5 and NGEN 7
Formulated with up to 75% regenerated base oils (for NGEN 5) and 50% (for NGEN 7)
these oils are coupled with the brand’s trademark Ester technology
meaning both variants tick the green boxes without sacrificing a drop of performance
with fully recyclable bottles made from 50% recycled plastic
Whether you’re navigating Orchard Road traffic or taking a lazy loop around Seletar
It’s the one you want if your idea of “commute” includes leaning hard into corners or gunning it through Malaysia’s B-roads
Built for high-performance sports and adventure motorcycles
Both are certified to meet top global standards
In layman’s terms: they’re as legitimate as it gets
“Motul is setting a new benchmark for the industry
where high performance and sustainability go hand in hand.”
