has started operations at the first facility of its DC QR03 campus
located in the PyME Industrial Park in Querétaro
This is the company's most ambitious data center development in Mexico
with a projected investment of over US$3 billion
The project will have a total capacity of up to 300 megawatts (MW) of information technology (IT) power once completed
already delivers 200 MW to the electrical system and houses a building with a capacity of 72 MW
focused on serving cloud services and artificial intelligence applications customers
“QR03 is an essential interconnection hub for Querétaro and Mexico,” said Ricardo Alário
who highlighted that the campus already has three hyperscale customers
Querétaro's strategic location allows it to serve both the Mexican and US markets
where there are energy restrictions in certain regions
The center's entry into operation coincides with the rapid growth of digital infrastructure in the state
there are currently 15 data centers operating in Querétaro
but the figure is projected to exceed 35 in the coming years
with cumulative investments of over US$12 billion since 2009
One of the main challenges facing the sector has been energy availability
ODATA is therefore already working on an expansion that will add an additional 400 MW
one of the largest initiatives of its kind in Mexico
the company presented its patented Delta Cube cooling system in the country
designed to directly capture heat in the racks and thus reduce energy consumption
This technology can also be adapted to hybrid solutions with liquid cooling
The QR03 operation reinforces Querétaro as one of the most important data center infrastructure hubs in the country
joining a growing wave of investments in the region by technology giants such as AWS

situated in the PyME Industrial Park in Querétaro
is the first phase of a wider campus project
the site will span five buildings across nearly 275,000 square metres and deliver up to 300 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity
with a total investment exceeding US$3 billion
The first building alone offers 72 MW of IT power and is already operational
designed to meet the surging demand from cloud and AI providers
This development, the company says, cements ODATA’s position as a leading hyperscale data centre provider in Mexico
particularly in light of the country’s ongoing power grid limitations
In February 2025, ODATA energised 200MW as part of the campus’s initial phase—addressing one of the most pressing challenges for Mexico’s digital growth: insufficient energy infrastructure
The company plans further expansion towards 400MW
providing crucial capacity in a market constrained by power shortages
“With three anchor hyperscale clients already committed
highly connected campus and a critical interconnection hub for Querétaro and Mexico,” said Ricardo Alário
“With abundant power and a strong presence of major cloud and AI providers
we anticipate this campus will play a central role in the development of Mexico’s digital infrastructure.”
The facility will also debut Aligned’s Delta Cube (Delta³) cooling technology in Mexico
capable of supporting densities of up to 50kW per rack
enables greater energy efficiency by removing heat directly at the source and allowing for seamless integration with liquid cooling systems

The Rapids fought to a 1-1 draw against Querétaro F.C
in their second preseason match in 2025 as they prepare for the MLS regular season
After being on the right end of a Querétaro turnover
Rafael Navarro scored the lone goal for the club in the 21st minute
with two halves of 60 minutes each and a break every 30 minutes
plenty of players on the Rapids roster were able to see a large chunk of playing time
Starters for the match included familiar faces from last season in Navarro
fresh off his Man of the Match performance with the U.S
Colorado put the pressure on early and created chances in the attacking end with the help of their strong defensive play
The opposition maintained little to no possession in the early goings
as the Rapids high press suffocated the Liga MX side any time they touched the ball
That press made a direct impact on what would eventually be the match’s opening goal
Colorado made sure that they had very little room to work with
Harris started the pressure deep in opposing territory
leading to a misplay on a pass back to their goalkeeper
The beneficiary of the errant pass was Navarro
who calmly finished the ball to take the lead early on
Despite no other scoring from the Rapids in the first half
the squad created multiple high-quality chances
once from a free kick and the other from open play
the back line stood strong and did not allow a single shot on goal during their shift
The teams then went into the halftime break after 60 minutes
with a brand-new squad coming out for Colorado
and Jackson Travis highlighted the group from the returning players that joined new faces out on the pitch
Newly contracted players for 2025 in the second half squad included Alex Harris
Colorado continued their strong defensive play throughout the half
but it would be the hosting side who would level the match to close out the scoring
Querétaro capitalized on their best opportunity of the match in front of net to equal things in the match’s final moments
The Rapids will round out their first preseason stint with one more match in Mexico before returning to Colorado
The team’s next closed-door matchup with La Paz is slated for 10:00 a.m

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg jointly signed a sister city agreement on Tuesday with his counterpart from Querétaro, Mexico, during a ceremony at the Alamo.
More than 300 years ago, Spanish friars traveled 700 miles north from Querétaro to establish the mission known today as the Alamo.
Nirenberg said, given the current state of national politics, it's important to ensure economic, educational, and cultural partnerships with Mexico.
"We know the political winds and rhetoric have shifted so dramatically over the last couple of months and the truth of the matter is the Texas economy, the San Antonio economy, the American economy work because we have bilateral exchange with Mexico," he said.
Querétaro Mayor Felipe Fernando Macías Olvera agreed with Nirenberg: "We believe that now is the time to build bridges instead of barriers, foster cooperation instead of distrust. We believe in cooperation over isolation."
Macías Olvera said his city of 1.5 million residents has several similarities with San Antonio, including industries like cyber security.
San Antonio already has sister city relationships with 12 cities worldwide.
The Sister Cities International program was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower. The program plays a key role in people-to-people exchanges and global relationship-building.

QUERETARO - Amazon will invest US$5 billion in Querétaro to develop a data center; this amount will mean the contribution of US$10 billion to Mexico's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) over the next 15 years
and the creation of more than 7,000 jobs per year
qualifying and giving opportunities to Mexican talent throughout the Amazon system worldwide
they are estimating that 400,000 people will be trained in Mexico
(digital region) because it is the set of data centers,” he said
During President Claudia Sheinbaum's morning conference
CEO for Latin America of Amazon Web Services (AWS)
pointed out that AWS is the cloud computing service
or even every movie watched on live streaming platforms
to launch the operations of our data centers in Mexico; that is
to inaugurate the infrastructure of Amazon's cloud computing services to be offered from here
The executive assured that the announced investment is much more than the construction of state-of-the-art data centers; it is a decisive and sustained commitment to the socioeconomic growth and digital future of the country and of all Mexicans
She added that the launch of an AWS region will contribute in a tangible way to improve a country as diverse
because beyond the technological infrastructure
its vision is to be a catalyst for national progress because it will have many benefits
such as the contribution of more than US$10 billion to the national GDP and the support of highly qualified and full-time jobs
the investment will drive the adoption of artificial intelligence and a recent study points to cloud-enabled artificial intelligence contributing more than US$19 billion to the country's economy through 2030 and productivity gains from artificial intelligence are estimated to generate US$900 billion per worker
She mentioned that AWS will continue with the training of Mexican talent and for this purpose will collaborate with educational institutions in the country that have a national presence
such as the National College of Technical Professional Education (Conalep) and the National Technological Institute of Mexico (Tecnológico Nacional de México)
President Claudia Sheinbaum on Sunday formally inaugurated the Mexico City-Querétaro train project
a 226-km-long route connecting Mexico’s capital with a city and state that have experienced dynamic economic growth in recent years
At a ceremony 30 kilometers outside Querétaro city
Sheinbaum said construction will cost an estimated 167 billion pesos (US $8.5 billion)
Upon announcing the project in October
authorities had estimated a cost of 75 billion pesos (US $3.75 billion)
after determining it will be necessary to build six tunnels
The Defense Ministry is charged with completing the project in two-and-a-half years
“My commitment is to complete the route before [Governor Mauricio Kuri’s] term ends,” Sheinbaum said
a member of the opposition National Action Party
Sheinbaum expressed confidence in the military’s ability to meet the deadline
saying “there’s nobody more capable.” She also emphasized that using the military will keep the train in public hands
General and army engineer Gustavo Ricardo Vallejo, who oversaw construction of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport, said his men will be working 24-7
“It is in our best interest to finish the project on time
The proposed timeline is assisted by the fact that the route will largely rely on existing freight train tracks
Military engineers will focus on smoothing out curves and addressing vertical divergences
allowing the train to reach speeds of 160-200 km/h
recalling that a Mexico City-Querétaro train had been under consideration by several previous administrations
none of whom had moved beyond vague proposals
In a social media post
Kuri called the project “a reflection of the shared vision and commitment to the development of our state and our country
Marco del Prete, Querétaro’s minister of social development, said the train will be an engine of growth for thousands of families. In a social media post of his own, del Prete also said the route will have stations in Mexico City; Huehuetoca
Querétaro; and two stations in Querétaro city
Hoy inicia una obra histórica: el tren México-Querétaro, un proyecto que conectará regiones, impulsará la movilidad eficiente y generará más de 600 mil empleos directos e indirectos. — Marco Del Prete (@mdelprete) April 28, 2025
“[This] historic project … will connect regions
and generate more than 600,000 direct and indirect jobs,” del Prete wrote
Sheinbaum announced that the terminal in Querétaro city will be called “La Corregidora,” an homage to Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez
a heroine of the Mexican independence movement
The president also reiterated her promise to build more than 3,000 kilometers of railway track for passenger trains
As part of the goal to extend passenger train routes to the north of the country
the Querétaro station will eventually link to the border city of Nuevo Laredo
and connect to the northwestern border city of Nogales
“Querétaro will become a railroad hub,” Sheinbaum said
“Trains connecting to the Pacific and Gulf coasts will depart from here.”
Sunday’s ceremony occurred just five weeks after Sheinbaum inaugurated the Mexico City-Pachuca train project

New York City FC recorded a goalless draw against Querétaro on Sunday night
City were able to control large portions of the contest but were unable to find a breakthrough goal
That forced both teams to take home a point
a penalty shootout was then used to decide which team claimed the extra point
After nine spot kicks City were able to emerge 4-3 winners - Barraza's brilliant diving save to his left confirming the extra point for the hosts
The Bronx was the backdrop for New York City FC's opening game in the 2024 Leagues Cup as they hosted Mexican side Querétaro at Yankee Stadium
Head Coach Nick Cushing made five changes to the side that drew with Orlando City last time out
Among the changes was a first start of the season for Luis Barraza who came in for Matt Freese
and Mounsef Bakrar in place of Keaton Parks
City started the game at a rapid speed and that saw Christian McFarlane win a freekick in a dangerous area thanks to a well-timed run in behind the opposition fullback
the hosts would come closest to scoring early on after a freekick of their own from the right-hand side was whipped toward the near post and forced Barraza to palm the ball away
The hosts were growing in momentum and in the 22nd minute
a header from McFarlane forced Querétaro goalkeeper Guillermo Allison into a brilliant save from point-blank range
Querétaro were eager to try and catch City on the break with Aké Loba the main outlet for the visitors
Alan Medina fired off a right-footed shot that didn’t trouble Barraza in goal
City were given a great chance to break the deadlock in the 43rd minute when Fernández got a shot away from inside the box
Querétaro registered the first chance of the second half when Lucas Rodríguez found a yard of space inside the area
but Barraza comfortably gathered his tame effort
Talles Magno was proving a regular outlet for City in attack and in the 58th minute he produced a driving run and shot from distance that forced Allison into a save
Forward Jovan Mijatović would enter the game a minute later as he replaced Bakrar
the Serbian rose highest at a corner to power a header toward goal that landed just over the crossbar
Cushing would turn to his bench again in the 69th minute to introduce Ojeda and Martínez in place of Talles Magno and Fernández
A rare foray forward from Querétaro in the 71st minute saw Ronaldo Cisneros attempt to catch Barraza out with an audacious effort from distance
but City’s shot-stopper was able to claim the ball
City were still enjoying the majority of the ball and their latest attempt to find a goal saw substitute Martínez produce a rasping drive from distance that forced Allison into a brilliant save
An injury to Mitja Ilenič in the 86th minute forced City into another change as Tayvon Gray checked into the game
Martínez was proving a consistent threat and he came within a whisker of scoring after his side-footed effort flashed just past the post
A late rally from Querétaro saw Barraza called into action in stoppage time to palm away a powerful shot from Cisneros
Despite City's best efforts the two sides could not be separated during ninety minutes and we were forced to take a point each
Next up for New York City FC is a Leagues Cup clash against FC Cincinnati on Monday
Kickoff at TQL Stadium is scheduled for 8:00PM ET

Iranian artist Shadi Yousefian combines photography and other media in fascinating explorations of the themes of memory
entitled “Memory in Layers,” includes over 100 works of art and is on display now through June 8
It showcases selected pieces spanning 23 years of Yousefian’s career
Yousefian immigrated to the United States at the age of 16
as highlighted in the eight series represented in “Memory in Layers,” illuminates challenging aspects of contemporary life and universal themes such as dislocation
with a particular focus on cultural identity
These themes clearly resonated with guests at the March 7 “Memory in Layers” exhibition opening
where many of the attendees appeared awed by Yousefian’s work
“Today we’re so used to viewing countless faces photographed flawlessly — and carefully filtered — that seeing the artist’s series of violently
asymmetrically altered self-portraits for me provided a powerful reminder that beauty doesn’t lie in perfection,” said M
and emotion — knowing that these artworks are made from small fragments of real photos
letters and diary entries from the artist’s own life is very moving.”
“A tour de force,” agreed another attendee
Yousefian… has achieved a body of work that is intimate and profoundly personal
Now she transforms these expressions into universal declarations of the experiences and memories of human migrations across our planet.”
“Much of my work to date reflects my desire to capture and distill some essence of my life as an immigrant and connect it to a more universal experience
My art suggests and builds upon a kind of fragmentation and dissolution but also celebrates the endeavor to reinvent and reconstruct a self in a new social and cultural context.”
she noted that she sometimes feels unable to adequately express herself through language and therefore uses her art as a vehicle to convey meaning
She sees this as an analogy “to the inability of people to express their true identity due to restrictions and moral codes imposed on them by governments or society.”
Yousefian has exhibited her work throughout the United States and internationally in Mexico
Her works have been acquired for the permanent collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts (LACMA) and the San Diego Museum of Art
Yousefian embraced the opportunity to exhibit her work at the Museo de Arte de Querétaro because of her love for Mexico
“I admire this country so much for its culture
from its rich and vibrant pre-Hispanic traditions to its progressive and forward-thinking contemporary art scene — and of course for its kind and welcoming people.”
one of which is the daring attitude towards color
Another aspect which more directly inspires me,” she continued
I’m highly impressed by the variety of modern architectural styles
especially the residential apartments and homes in Mexico City
the variety and number of museums and galleries consistently offering fantastic exhibitions by renowned Mexican and international artists
as well as avant-garde works and art installations by lesser-known contemporary artists
helps me stay connected and up-to-date with the art world.”
“Mexico not only inspires me as an artist but helps me grow and have a more optimistic view on life as a human being
In Mexico one can still witness a teenager walking hand-in-hand with her grandmother
I also appreciate the supportive attitude of artists here
Instead of the hostile rivalry common in many other places
artists in Mexico are often inspired by each other and enjoy seeing their peers grow and be successful.”
“Memory in Layers” will be on display at the Museo de Arte de Querétaro through June 8. To learn more about Yousefian’s work, visit www.shadiyousefian.com

SAN ANTONIO - Two cities with a storied history and deep cultural connection are taking steps to strengthen their bond
San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Querétaro Mayor Felipe Fernando Macías Olvera met at the Alamo grounds to sign a Sister City Agreement
strengthening the bond between the two cities
Spanish friars from Querétaro traveled 700 miles to establish the missions at San Antonio De Valero
laying the foundations for the city's cultural identity
“Sister City Agreements are more than symbolic gestures; they serve as the foundation for meaningful cooperation
and cultural exchanges,” said Mayor Nirenberg
and today’s agreement ensures that our partnership continues to thrive for generations to come.”
The agreement also comes alongside a new direct flight between the two cities
and the launch of the "Al Otro Lado del Espejo" cultural exchange program
Querétaro joins the 12 other cities worldwide that San Antonio shares a Sister-City relationship with

New York City FC hosts Querétaro this Sunday in their first group game of Leagues Cup 2024
To learn more about opponents we compiled a scout report on Los Gallos Blancos
translates to The White Roosters in English
This was reportedly a nickname given to them by journalist Herrera Pozas and was based on the club's "willingness to fight for every ball" alongside their then all-white kits
One of the biggest names to represent the club was Brazilian legend Ronaldinho
and PSG star enjoyed a spell with Querétaro toward the end of his playing career and wore the number 49
He was part of the roster that qualified for the Liga MX final for the first time back in the 2015 Clausura
He is not the only Brazilian of note in Querétaro history
Camilo Sanvezzo joined Querétaro in 2014 from the Vancouver Whitecaps and enjoyed two spells with the team
It is also not unfair to put current Head Coach Mauro Gerk into this category
The former striker had a prolific spell with the club after arriving in Mexican soccer in 2002
He remains Club Querétaro's second all-time goal scorer
there are some familiar names to those who watch MLS
Former Portland Timbers and Chicago Fire defender Jonathan Bornstein spent time with the club
while the current roster includes a number of former MLS players in attack
while Aké Loba and Lucas Rodríguez had spells with Nashville SC and D.C
who spent the 2022 season on loan with Atlanta United
Argentine Head Coach Mauro Gerk spent four years with Querétaro as a player
he became an assistant coach with Club Tijuana in 2018 – another one of his former clubs
He returned home to Argentina in 2019 to coach Racing Club’s reserve side
He took up a similar post with the reserves of Defensa y Justicia in 2022
That same year he was appointed head coach of Querétaro where he has been ever since
Gerk has been willing to use a number of different systems of late
with Querétaro’s most recent games seeing him use a 5-4-1 formation
Queretaro have endured a tough start to the season and that sees them bottom of the table after four games with no points
According to fbref.com they currently have the highest expected goals difference in Liga MX at 5.9
they have also recorded the joint second fewest shots this season
Querétaro are unlikely to try and dominate possession either
recording the fewest completed passes and the joint fewest attempted passes in Liga MX
While we have discussed several players with MLS connections that can prove a threat
it is worth keeping an eye on Pablo Barrera
who has scored one of Querétaro’s two goals this season
The 37-year-old attacker is a former Mexican international and after breaking into Liga MX with PUMAS he earned a move to the Premier League with West Ham in 2010
The winger’s quality and experience could prove vital for Querétaro as they try to take all three points from Yankee Stadium

Querétaro — already a leader in the installation of data centers in Mexico — anticipates that up to 12 more centers will be announced in the north-central state in the coming months
“We already have 18 [data centers],” state Development Minister Marco Antonio Del Prete told the newspaper El Economista, including Microsoft’s new Hyperscale Cloud Data Center Region
“The 18 already in place represent 200 megawatts of energy … and another 10 or 12 are in the process of being established.”
Due to the energy needs required for this specialized industry
Del Prete said the state government is working to ensure that Querétaro has adequate facilities to supply the energy needed
“This is a collaborative effort involving the CFE [Federal Electricity Commission]
the state and the data centers themselves,” he said
“The enormous energy requirements will be met with help from the CFE as well as Cenace and the CRE.”
Cenace is the National Energy Control Center and the CRE is the Energy Regulatory Commission
executive director of solutions development for property management company JLL Work Dynamics
said a reliable energy supply is essential in the data center industry
“Energy is one of the main operating costs of data centers
and ensuring a reliable and sustainable supply has become a priority for both operators and local authorities,” Prieto told Mexico Business News
Data centers have become critical for Mexico’s continuing technological and economic development and demand for data processing and storage is on the rise
Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and the metaverse have prompted the rapid construction of these centers
A joint study published last April by the Mexican Association of Data Centers (MEXDC) and the International Data Corporation projects that
the number of data centers in Mexico will increase significantly
Del Prete expects that several of these new centers will be built in Querétaro
which has seen an accumulated investment of more than US $2 billion
“We expect to have some good news at the beginning of [December] and early in the New Year as well,” he said
The state is already preparing to meet the growing demand
developing new policies and state universities are adjusting their degree programs to prepare a professional labor pool
The Polytechnic University of Querétaro (UPQ) will soon be offering a degree in data engineering

Eric Gomez of ESPN tells us about the players who left Querétaro
the club's four losses to start the Liga MX Apertura season
and why 37-year-old Pablo Barrera could trouble New York City FC
In this edition of Oppo Research, Hudson River Blue spoke with Eric Gomez of ESPN to learn more about Querétaro FC, New York City FC's opponent in the Leagues Cup on Sunday night
Hudson River Blue: Querétaro has started the Liga MX Apertura season poorly
After finishing 10th overall in Liga MX last season
what’s led to the rough start to the Apertura season
Queretaro started the season by facing three of the top four teams in Liga MX: Monterrey
Their luck in doing so was compounded by losing their best player
they also lost young striker Ettson Ayón who came on strong for them in 2022 to León
Querétaro is essentially looking to reload with several new players like Ake Loba and Lucas Rodríguez
HRB: Liga MX veteran Pablo Barrera led Querétaro last season with seven goals and nine assists
His 16 goal involvements were by far the most on the team
with the next player having just seven goal involvements
are the expectations for him still the same
Or will his age hinder his stats this season
EG: Barrera is the ageless wonder of Liga MX
There have been several instances over the course of his career in which it seemed like it was the last dance for him
It’s not necessarily fair to expect the same level of production from a 37-year-old player
but it seems unwise to think that he’ll fall off a cliff this season barring injury
Barrera continues to be the main draw for a Gallos offense that outperformed expectations in the Clausura 2024

their biggest issues were passing mistakes when playing out of the back and not recovering quickly
They almost got burned when Keegan Rosenberry turned the ball over
Every center back had a good play to prevent a scoring chance

INSIDE TXST
Texas State University and Elisia Education Hub have partnered to open a new TXST campus in the Mexican city of Santiago de Querétaro
Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González and TXST President Kelly Damphousse were among the guest speakers attending the signing ceremony on Sept
The Texas State University System Board of Regents approved the initiative in August following two years of planning and discussions to bring the campus to fruition
This marks TXST’s first international campus.
Querétaro is an industrial hub approximately 150 miles northwest of Mexico City and boasts more than 1,500 multinational companies in the immediate area
That burgeoning international presence is behind the demand to bring world-class
American-style higher education opportunity to the area
TXST will occupy space on an existing 370-acre campus in Querétaro.
TXST expects to welcome the first Querétaro campus class in fall 2025
Although the degree offerings are still being determined
initial discussions have centered around engineering
All degrees at the Mexico campus will be fully accredited in the U.S
TXST faculty will establish and oversee the degree program curricula
Elisia Education Hub will hire the instructors
set tuition rates and cover all operational costs
TXST could potentially receive up to $10 million over the span of the 10-year contract
which would be used to support student success and research initiatives on the San Marcos Campus.
The Querétaro campus could prove to be the first in a string of overseas campuses affiliated with TXST
University administrators have already engaged in exploratory discussions with representatives from Costa Rica
Japan and South Korea that may bear fruit in the coming years.

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that construction on the Mexico City-Querétaro train line will begin in 2025, following her pledge to build more than 3,000 kilometers of passenger railways during her six-year term
Speaking from an event in Querétaro to inaugurate preliminary studies for the railway
Sheinbaum said that construction will begin in April 2025 and will be completed in three years
It will require an investment of 75 billion pesos (US $3.8 billion)
Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González celebrated the news
anticipating that this mobility alternative would improve the quality of life of citizens and visitors to the state
As with the Mexico City–Pachuca passenger train
the Defense Ministry (Sedena) will be responsible for the train’s construction
Located about 206 kilometers north of Mexico City
Querétaro is a city of 1.6 million and the capital of the state bearing the same name
The passenger train will connect both cities within an estimated one hour and forty minutes — a 40% reduction in travel time compared to what it currently takes by car
The train will have a capacity of 450 passengers and an estimated speed of 160 km per hour
The train’s main stations will be Buenavista
with intermediate stops in towns throughout México state and Hidalgo
a public bus line servicing the metropolitan Querétaro area
the train will connect with Line B of the Metro
the train will feature two parallel passenger lines built adjacent to existing freight lines
As part of Sheinbaum’s goal to extend passenger train routes to the north of the country
the forthcoming Querétaro station will eventually offer passengers access to three new destinations by train: Nuevo Laredo
“This train will improve the country’s connectivity
consolidating President López Obrador’s vision of recovering passenger trains,” said Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina
Communications and Transport Ministry (SCIT)
The federal government expects the project to benefit more than 30,000 people and generate approximately 490,000 jobs
including 165,000 direct and 325,000 indirect jobs
one of the world’s leading companies in advanced manufacturing technology
has broken ground on a new tech innovation center in Querétaro
“The talent and capacity of the people of Querétaro continue to attract key investments for technological development!” Governor Mauricio Kuri wrote on Sept. 30 on his official X account after leading an inauguration ceremony earlier that day
With an investment of 400 million pesos (US $21 million)
the new plant will supply production machinery to the automotive
and the household goods and electronics manufacturers
The plant is expected to start operations next year
the company expects engineering projects to be conducted for five machining centers within the first year
each with a capacity of 20 to 25 machines integrated with advanced engineering systems and robots
The facility will have LEED Gold certification (signaling a project’s comprehensive adoption of best sustainability practices)
rain and wind and will have thermally insulated walls
told El Economista magazine that they believe this project will spearhead engineering services in Mexico and will establish the center as a benchmark in the production of complete manufacturing solutions
Makino wants Mexico to create engineering projects to use this machinery technology
and use Mexican creativity to assemble it with automation,” Medrano said
stressing that it will be an “iconic” project for the state and for the North American region in general
CEO Peter Hoecklin explained that the company’s decision to expand in Mexico results from an exhaustive analysis of global opportunities
stressed that Mexico is key to the company’s strategy in emerging markets
with Querétaro standing out for its infrastructure
Makino’s investment joins the one recently announced by tech giant Microsoft in the state. In May, the company inaugurated Microsoft’s first Hyperscale Cloud Data Center Region of its kind in Spanish-speaking Latin America
Querétaro will also be the site of an investment of over $5 billion by Amazon Web Services in a cluster of data centers
