but Reynolds appears to have some exciting ideas. While nothing has yet been pitched to Marvel
Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of trying to bring a Deadpool and X-Men movie to life
As reported by THR, Reynolds' idea for this ensemble film would feature Deadpool
he would share the spotlight with three of four other X-Men characters
it is said Reynolds wants these other characters to take center stage so they can be "used in unexpected ways."
This film, which would be separate from the X-Men movie Hunger Games' writer Michael Lesslie is working on, is seemingly on a similar track as Deadpool & Wolverine
Reynolds is known for working on his ideas on his own for quite some time before pitching them to Marvel
and the early stages of what would become Deadpool & Wolverine saw the film as a low-budget road trip movie
This also isn't the first time we've heard Ryan Reynolds is working on an "ensemble" movie for Deadpool, but this does give us a bit more context as to what type of adventures the Merc With a Mouth may go on
Deadpool is no stranger to working alongside X-Men and has already had some members of the team and their enemies in his films
Oh, and you can see how the latest MCU film did in our eyes in our Thunderbolts* review.

As the one person in the world who didn’t care for Deadpool and Wolverine
I feel like Deadpool is a one trick pony and I’ve seen that trick enough times
Reading the comments made me think of one thing
This guy was worshipped as Marvel Jesus in the first movie now people are tired of him
People grew bored of Jackman up until his retirement movie
but it is rather interesting seeing how many people are supposedly tired of him
Wonder if people would say the same for Ledger if he kept playing the Joker for more than 3 movies for example (I know that Nolan was always only gonna just do 3
but I think a major role would just detract from the X-Men
It's already going to be hard enough to get everyone's favorite team member in there without forcing Deadpool in
Yhis might be a unpopular opinion but I'm good not seeing Deadpool in a movie for a good long while
Kinda tired of hearing Ryan Reynolds name at the moment
Perhaps this man should be more concerned with the multiple lawsuits him and his wife are involved in for trying to take away a movie from another director as well as trying to publicly defame him
Both Ryan and Blake are narcissistic and and are proving to be horrible humans
He knows he's cancelled and he's playing it off
hes a one trick poney where the trick isnt even that good of a trick
wolverine was the only reason i enjoyed the last movie
I like the movies but they should just let it end already
Not that excited for Ryan Reynolds anymore after finding out he's just another extremely toxic bully along with his wife
It would be a good thing for Reynolds and Deadpool to play as little part as possible
but Reynolds is as funny as a severed head
you literally wished for Wolverine to kill him due to him not shutting up in D&W
Reynolds and the Deadpool character are beyond cringe
I would have Doom kill Deadpool for good in Doomsday
And Hugh Jackman thought he played Wolverine for the last time
If only Reynolds can finagle Brolin’s Cable meeting Brolin’s Thanos
Why is Reynolds the only one championing for these things
His movie was one of three in the last five years to make any real monies
and his alone made $1.3 billion with an R-rating
We haven’t even had a solid X-Men film since Lawrence fell off the Earth
Or are they holding a spot for another go with Captain Marvel 3
Reynolds is probably going to be richer than all of them before Di$ney starts making Di$ney levels of money again
Ryan Reynolds' movie was the only movie to make a billion in Marvel's current phase of failure
so Kevin Feige is definitely going to have to listen to him
If he had any real comic fans in his circle
he would be trying to make Identity Disc into a film
I think the same people that are saying they’re tired of Ryan Reynolds Deadpool will be the first in line to watch the next movie
It’s like when a girl breaks up with a guy that frustrates her
but then gets back with him because in her mind
The original cast will all be dead or in a retirement home by the time this happens
deadpool and spiderman is the only movie we want
I think it would be fun if he played a super small part in an X-men movie
Like they keep leaving him behind or he shows up just a little late every time and no one gives him the time of day lol
(1:06)Herculez Gomez and Kasey Keller debate whether any USMNT players could join Wrexham
I still think about him all the time, and I was thinking about him again last weekend. You might remember him, too, since I wrote about him a couple of years ago
I was playing in a rec league soccer game on a Thursday night in Los Angeles
There were very few -- if any -- other former collegiate soccer players in this league
so I always clocked the handful of other players who stood out
shaggy-haired dude dressed all in black who was pretty good on the ball and at least made it hard for me to find space and push the ball forward
but as everyone else walked over to the sideline
He then jogged over to give me a high-five and a half-hug
Then he said three words I've never forgotten -- "'Deadpool' premiere
bro" -- before walking straight off the field and into the parking lot
I haven't seen Ryan Reynolds again since that moment
That was when Wrexham became the first team in the history of organized English soccer to earn three successive promotions
they were a semiprofessional team that no one in America had ever heard of
they're co-owned by the guy who plays Deadpool
Wrexham have become one of the most popular European soccer clubs in the United States because of the docuseries "Welcome to Wrexham" (stream on Disney+) that the team was built around -- er, that was built around the team. And they're just one more promotion away from the Premier League
Reynolds and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" star Rob McElhenney bought the club for around £2 million in 2021
and now it's estimated to be worth upward of £150 million
And what can we learn from their unprecedented achievement
As one owner of a large European club told me when I asked him the first question: "Spend lots of money and get promoted." And when I asked Tim Keech, who founded MRKT Insights
a data consultancy that helps clubs make better decisions
what lessons Wrexham might hold for the larger soccer world
Back when I wrote about the club's promotion from the National League to League Two
They were paying their players around £3.5 million in wages
while the average National League club was spending £1 million
If you spend more than three times what your opponents do on talent
then you're going to win a lot more games than your opponents
Soccer is a complex, dynamic game, but it gets pretty simple when you have that much more money than everyone else. Countless studies show a very strong relationship between wage spend and performance
The relationship weakens at the very top of Europe's five biggest leagues
your 80th point will cost a lot more than your 50th point
Wrexham are in a spot where brute-force spending can quickly lead to wins
but they still managed to lead the league in payroll
spending just south of £6 million on player salaries
more than double any other club in England's fourth tier
This season in League One, they're spending about £10.6 million on player salaries -- third most in the league. And they've spent nearly €5 million on transfer fees. The only club to outspend Wrexham on both salaries and transfer fees is Birmingham City
and they're the only team ahead of them in the table
spending doesn't automatically equal success
Paying the guy who plays Sunday league and works at your favorite coffee shop a League One salary doesn't suddenly turn him into a League One-level player
Wrexham have had to at least be competent at team-building and player identification to experience all the immediate success -- and they've probably been better than that
play1:23Why Wrexham's rapid rise would hit a wall in the ChampionshipMark Ogden explains why Wrexham would find it difficult to take the next step to the Premier League
if they were to achieve League One promotion this season
"The club have invested heavily in salaries for experienced players," said Keech
a firm that advises clients interested in buying professional sports teams
They have purchased players who are too good for the level in the National League and League Two
I have been very surprised at how easily they have gone through League One
so I would say this is a genuine footballing achievement rather than just pure cash."
This is also a marked shift in approach. Back in the National League, Wrexham won matches by blowing teams off the field and being good-but-not-great defensively. However, analysis from the consultancy Twenty First Group has found that the successful promoted teams tend to be balanced in the other direction: super strong defensively
Twenty First Group maintains a global ranking of every professional club in the world. As of today, Wrexham rank 527th -- right around the Los Angeles Galaxy and Barcelona's second team
"Since January 1, 2020, they rank 17th among roughly 4,100 teams worldwide for performance improvement, second only to Nottingham Forest among English clubs," said Aurel Nazmiu
senior data scientist at Twenty First Group
the cartelized structure with its revenue sharing
salary penalties and no promotion/relegation ensures massive revenues for all 30 teams regardless of how they perform
For all the talk about the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets "ruining baseball" by handing out large contracts
every owner is sitting on a billion-dollar-plus asset
The teams that aren't spending more are capable of spending more; they just choose not to spend more
the only way the business model could be worse is if each home team burned a stack of cash before each game as a tribute to the soccer gods
The valuations of clubs and their revenues fluctuate massively from year to year
with the specter of relegation and the promise of promotion
And player salaries take up a far bigger chunk of revenue than they do in any of the major American sports
"The fundamentals of most investments are awful," Keech said
"Even with Wrexham's multiple promotions and huge commercial income
the club will lose significant money on day-to-day operations."
which is believed to be a record for League Two
Before Reynolds and McElhenney bought the club
its revenue in the National League was £1.15 million
and Rob McElhenney have taken the team on a successful but expensive run to England's second division. Martin Rickett/PA Images/Getty Images"This works purely because of the fact they have Hollywood A-lister owners who are hugely charismatic and have used their celebrity to raise commercial income to unheard of levels," Keech said
"This isn't an option available to most owners; even bringing in a celebrity as a [very] minor shareholder will not have any impact in most cases."
And even with the revenues driven by the famous owners and a popular television show about them (and the team)
estimates suggest that Reynolds and McElhenney have lost around £20 million since purchasing the club
And although that seems as if it would be offset by the astronomical growth in the value of the club
a large part -- nearly all -- of the valuation is pinned to the fact that Reynolds and McElhenney own the team
what would a purchaser be buying?" Keech said
The reality for Reynolds and McElhenney is that they're going to have to keep losing money (or diluting their ownership shares) to achieve what they've openly stated to be their goal: reaching the Premier League. Per the last reporting year
Championship clubs lost a combined £314 million in 2023-24
Let's say that Wrexham double their estimated payroll next season
taking it up from £11 million to £22 million
that would give them about a 10% chance of getting promoted if they got better-than-average player performance from their spending
they'd need to spend closer to £25 million
the club would need to increase its payroll into the £27 million to £34 million range
but they'll also have to spend differently
It's unlikely they can continue to get by with older players in the Championship
and younger players are something of a double-edged sword: You get peak performance
but you're also more likely to lose them to a bigger club
Added transfer revenues will allow them to spend more
but the club hasn't had to play the player-trading game yet
They've been paying transfer fees and barely receiving any
Twenty-four players have featured in at least 100 minutes for Wrexham in League One -- and they're all from England
Thanks to various squad-construction rules
these are the most expensive players in the Championship and the Premier League
and it's highly unlikely Wrexham will be able to afford the best British and Irish players
The three relegated teams from the Premier League will be receiving parachute payments worth £39 million -- that's on top of all of the other revenue streams available to everyone else in the Championship
"The problem will be that for the first time they will be up against superior technical players who are physically as good as them," Keech said
"It is possible to get promoted to the Premier League on a low-end Championship budget
Wrexham will be paying at most a quarter of the amount the likes of Southampton
Given where the club was just a few years ago -- scuffling along
outside the Football League system -- and where they're headed -- the Championship
for the first time since the early 1980s -- this has to feel like a miracle to all of the lifelong Wrexham fans
It has to feel like an inspirational triumph
it has been a fundamentally modern progression: The power of celebrity
the power of television and the power of money come together to create an unstoppable force
By no objective definition have Wrexham been underdogs at any step of their journey up the ladder
as they enter a league where almost everyone will have better players and more money than they currently do
they manage to stay up and one day reach the Premier League
I'll walk toward that proverbial parking lot
And I'll mutter those three words to myself: "Wrexham promotion
Actor Ryan Reynolds appears in a Tim Hortons' advertisement in an undated still image production handout. The Canadian Press
Tim Hortons is baking some star power into its breakfast menu
The cafe chain launched scrambled egg boxes with actor Ryan Reynolds on Monday
The boxes developed by the Vancouver-born star of “Deadpool” come in bacon or sausage varieties and include two scrambled eggs
While Tims has spent its 60th anniversary year working to lure in afternoon and evening diners with newer menu items like rice-based bowls and flatbread pizzas
the Reynolds partnership so far focuses on its strongest part of the day: breakfast
Tims chief marketing officer Hope Bagozzi said Reynolds looked for a breakfast option that resembled the bacon and eggs he and his family eat at home
“When I visited the Tim Hortons Test Kitchen
by which I mean I ate an irresponsible amount of eggs
I regret nothing,” said Reynolds in a news release
His appetite for them was so voracious that the Tims chef almost couldn’t make the boxes fast enough
when Reynolds was on set filming TV and social media ads for the products
The ads feature an assistant fulfilling Reynolds’ rider
which include a newspaper with all references to birds redacted
a jigsaw puzzle one piece away from completion and his beloved breakfast box
Competition within the breakfast segment has intensified over the last decade with new players like European chain Pret A Manger entering the market and more restaurants offering all-day breakfast
There’s also been a fight for customers because some have dropped morning coffee runs as they turned to hybrid work schedules or looked for more affordable breakfasts because of inflation
“The breakfast day part has been the hardest hit for quick-serve restaurants with hybrid working
so it makes sense to me to come up with a box
that’s a different portable option versus just a breakfast sandwich,” said Jo-Ann McArthur
president at Toronto advertising agency Nourish Food Marketing
“We know eggs are beloved at any time and I like the fact that it’s kind of nostalgic
which is also a trend that we’re seeing (because) consumers want to go back to that nostalgic comfort food.”
McArthur thinks the Reynolds name carries plenty of cachet for Canadians
Tims locations because she suspects many Americans don’t realize he is Canadian because of his deep ties to Hollywood
The risk Tims runs is that “he is a tad overexposed right now,” she said
The actor has also narrated an Air Canada ad
and fundraised for SickKids Hospital in Toronto and the Terry Fox Foundation
Tims started talking to Reynolds after wrapping a collaboration with pop star Justin Bieber that spanned 2021 and 2022 and spawned a cold brew
He does not do a lot of endorsements,” said McArthur
The night before Tims broke the news last summer to franchisees about the upcoming celeb partnership
Reynolds sent a video joking he was “thrilled” the company chose him
when they could have gone with Robert Goulet
the Canadian crooner who played Lancelot in the original “Camelot.”
it erupted,” Bagozzi recalled of the moment it was played
“I was trying to talk and it was just like there was hooting and shouting and screaming.”
The franchisees were sworn to secrecy and Bagozzi is impressed they didn’t let it slip
though the company ran a “Deadpool” ad with Reynolds in July and teased on an earnings call that more was coming
A second phase of the Reynolds partnership will follow the breakfast boxes
Bagozzi would not reveal its timeline or contents

Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds sent out an emotional message to Wrexham fans on social media after the final day of the League One season
Record-breaking third promotion in succession
When Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over a struggling Welsh football club almost five years ago
Speaking to reporters in 2021 about their ambitions
Reynolds said they hoped to take Wrexham AFC from the National League – the fifth tier in the English football system – all the way to the Premier League
where the likes of legendary clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool play
"You realize you started by saying we're going to take Wrexham to the Premier League and they all recorded it," McElhenney joked to Reynolds in a video posted to the club's YouTube page
Wrexham secured its third straight promotion in front of its fans on April 26 in a 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic
commentator and founder of soccer media company Men in Blazers
told Morning Edition host A Martínez that Wrexham's rise is "like a baseball team going from the rookie league in the fifth tier all the way to Triple-A" – a level below the MLB
in which the Jamaican bobsleigh team ends up winning Olympic gold
albeit in a sled sponsored by two Hollywood superstars," Bennett said
The club's success on the pitch and its Hollywood backing have led to a spike in its overall value and revenue over the past years, the BBC reports
famous for their roles in Deadpool and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
have also approached the task "with a real humility," breathing life into the post-industrial mining town in north Wales
"I grew up a stone's throw from Wrexham and what they've done is transform a region economically that was deemed left for dead
cast the world's spotlight on it," Bennett said
Tourism revenue in Wrexham rose to $235 million in 2023, up 20% from the previous year and up 50% since 2018, the Associated Press reported last year
The two also helped launch the Hulu series Welcome to Wrexham
"They've learned about the club and the fan base
They've always put that first in the television show that they've welded onto the side of the club so that the world has fallen in love with this cast of characters Welcome to Wrexham and watching them put it first," Bennett said
The English Championship is a notoriously difficult league
It features clubs that were relegated from the Premier League the prior season or in recent years – and some still have elite talent that helped them compete at the highest level
The clubs tend to have larger fan bases and bigger stadiums that help generate more revenue. Wrexham's stadium currently holds almost 13,000 people. By comparison, this year's current Championship leader, Leeds United, has a stadium capacity of almost 40,000
Clubs also have more experienced front offices capable of signing talented players and landing major sponsorship deals
Next season, Wrexham will play against Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton – the three teams relegated this year from the Premier League. Despite poor seasons, each team could still get more than $100 million payouts that will soften the blow of their fall from the top
Bennett compared Wrexham to a "cuddly bunch of unicorns and Care Bears."
"The Championship is an unforgiving knife fight in which money wins out," he continued "It's kind of fought in the prison yard with homemade shivs
But Bennett says he wouldn't bet against them winning promotion again next year
"There'll be a whole new level of characters coming in to play for them
A whole new set of Star Wars cantina-worthy human beings welding themselves to the Wrexham story," Bennett said
"I can imagine the time in which the great Real Madrid are working out where they can park the bus at Wrexham for a Champions League game," he added
Wrexham's final game of the season is away against Lincoln City on May 3

Amid rumors that Travis Kelce allegedly unfollowed Ryan Reynolds on Instagram
the Deadpool star avoided a question while signing autographs for fans at Green Day's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony
When it comes to the question of whether Travis Kelce unfollowed him, Ryan Reynolds is leaving a blank space
Amid Ryan and wife Blake Lively’s ongoing It Ends With Us legal battle with Justin Baldoni
eagle-eyed fans spotted last week that Taylor Swift’s boyfriend Travis no longer follows the Deadpool star on Instagram
Ryan—who still follows Travis on the photo-sharing app—dodged questions concerning the topic during a recent interaction with fans at Green Day’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony May 1
In a video shared by the Daily Mail May 3
Ryan runs up to a crowd of fans to sign autographs
and ignores a photographer who continuously asks
Instead of entertaining the prodding paparazzi
Ryan moves his way through the crowd expressionless as he signs multiple autographs and poses for selfies
Ryan only breaks his silence once amid the interaction
Ryan’s dodge comes amid continued circulating rumors on whether there is any bad blood between Taylor, Blake and Ryan as she could be subpoenaed in the latter actors’ legal battle
However, when rumors of a feud between Taylor and Blake first began to circulate in January, a source confirmed to E! News at the time that they are simply “not true.”
And while Taylor, Travis, Blake and Ryan haven’t been spotted on a double date night in the last few months
Taylor has been keeping a low profile on all fronts since the Eras Tour wrapped in December
only stepping out publicly a handful of times
Meanwhile, the “Karma” singer has emphasized her bond with Blake and Ryan—who share kids James
their kids are name-dropped on Taylor’s folklore album
and James is featured in the opening voice memo in Taylor’s 2017 hit “Gorgeous.”
even going so far as to direct her 2021 music video for “I Bet You Think About Me.” In an acceptance speech for Red (Taylor’s Version) at the American Music Awards the following year
Taylor made a point to shout out her “beautiful
For a deeper look into Taylor's friendship with Blake and Ryan
"Yesterday was such an amazing day off—roller coasters
kangaroos and LOLs with @blakelively," the "Lavender Haze" singer wrote on Instagram at the time
Blake was spotted shaking it off at Taylor's 1989 World Tour concert in Adelaide
This first sighting of the duo hanging out came just three months after the Gossip Girl alum was accused of throwing shade at Taylor's "Bad Blood" music video on Instagram
But Blake denied that now they had baaaaaad blood
"Umm whoever thought I was throwin shade clearly doesn't know I have a 'Taylor Swift Please Be My Wife Voo Doo Doll.'"
Blake also shared a backstage photo of a few family members with Taylor on tour
"Look how rad she is here making my niece Heather feel like a rock star," she wrote
"Love my Canadian family almost as much as I love Taylor Lively
Blake sent a very special surprise: a cat pie
Taylor shared a photo of the pastry (featuring her beloved cats Meredith and Olivia)
with a message on it that reads "Happy Thanksgiving Birthday."
"Blake wins at birthday pies," adding
"I honestly can't stop laughing rn."
Taylor traveled to upstate New York to attend Blake's baby shower held at the Bedford Post Inn
And it wouldn't be the last time the Grammy winner would make the trip to the couple's north-of-New-York-City home
In October 2016, a source exclusively told E! News that Taylor spent a weekend with Blake and Ryan, even visiting Blake at the hospital after she gave birth to the pair's second daughter, Inez
After Taylor released a song titled "Gorgeous," off her sixth studio album
fans theorized that the child's voice featured in the track's intro belonged to James Reynolds
(Blake and Ryan "liked" Taylor's preview of the song on Instagram
she officially confirmed in the liner notes that the "baby intro voice" belongs to James
Then there was the time Blake and Ryan had the most pure reaction to hearing the track during Taylor's concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough the following year
Taylor delighted her fans when she released a surprise album
that she recorded while isolating during the coronavirus pandemic
One song that stood out was "betty," which uses the names James
Listeners theorized that Betty was the name of Blake and Ryan's third daughter as the private pair had yet to publicly announce it
"The names are the names of our kids but
we trust her implicitly and she's very sensitive to any of that stuff," Ryan said on an August 2021 episode of The Jess Cagle Show
"And obviously the song has nothing to do with our kids other than our kids' names
When folklore took home the award for Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys
Taylor gave a sweet shoutout to the entire Reynolds family."I want to thank James
Inez and Betty and their parents," she said
"who are the second and third people that I play every new song that I write."
Taylor and Blake went from BFFs to collaborators when the Betty Buzz founder directed the music video for "I Bet You Think About Me," a vault track from Red (Taylor's Version)
"I finally got to work with the brilliant
& wickedly funny @blakelively on her directorial debut," Taylor raved on Instagram and Twitter
Blake and Ryan helped Taylor celebrate her performance on Saturday Night Live
enjoying a night out in New York City with Cara Delevingne
his wife Sophie Turner and The Queen's Gambit star and that night's host Anya Taylor-Joy
Blake and Ryan were in the audience to support Taylor when she appeared at the Tribeca Film Festival to promote the short film she directed for "all too well," the 10-minute version of her iconic 2012 breakup song about Jake Gyllenhaal
After the release of Taylor's 10th studio album Midnights, Ryan opened up about how his and Blake's daughters feel about the superstar being a close family friend
"I think what's most exciting for them is that for the longest time they just thought Taylor's just a
like a friend of mommy and daddy that's very
almost family," the Deadpool star explained on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show
"And then they went to a concert one day and were like
Ryan went on to share that their children were such fans of Taylor's tunes that her music is "like a religion in their house" and revealed he
Blake and the girls had a Taylor-themed celebration planned after his interview
We are having a Taylor Swift Midnights dance party right after this," Ryan said
We're headed straight to the porch where we're doing a full dance number set to Midnights—swear words included
My favorite thing is when a 3-year-old is just throwing down the F-bomb in a song and has no idea."
Shortly after it was confirmed that Taylor and her boyfriend Joe Alwyn had broken up after six years of dating
Taylor was spotted in a getaway car with Blake and Ryan
The group spent some quality time at the private club Zero Bond
The trio of friends attended a Kanasas City Chiefs game at Met Life Stadium to support Taylor's new boyfriend Travis Kelce
Of the game, and of the excitement around taylor's NFL attendances, Ryan told Extra
The NFL right now is reaching a kind of fever pitch that is usually only reserved for the Super Bowl
but here we are at the fourth or fifth game of the year and it's already happening."
During an appearance on Today, Ryan joked that he and Blake hadn't shared the name of their fourth child yet because they were still waiting on Taylor to share the moniker with them—a nod to her song "betty" on folklore
"We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child's name will be," the Deadpool & Wolverine star joked
we'll say this: we're still waiting
And lazy is not a word I'd attach to Taylor."
Later that month, Blake attended one of the Grammy winner's Eras Tour shows in Madrid, where Taylor gave an onstage shoutout to her children

The boxes developed by the Vancouver-born star of "Deadpool" come in bacon or sausage varieties and are filled out with two scrambled eggs
Tims chief marketing officer Hope Bagozzi said Reynolds chose them because they resemble the bacon and egg breakfasts he and his family eat at home
When he was on set recording a new ad to launch the product
she says its chef almost couldn't make the boxes fast enough to match the speed at which Reynolds was eating them
The boxes form the first part of a multi-phase partnership with Reynolds and come three years after Tims collaborated with pop star Justin Bieber on three new Timbits

Iowa (Gray Media Iowa Capitol Bureau) - Friday is the scheduled end of the 2025 Iowa legislative session
isn’t done yet and there’s new tension between the governor and house speaker
but in the big picture of the $9.5 billion state budget
the disagreement on how much to fund state government has put numerous policy discussions on hold
“It shouldn’t have been a surprise to the Speaker that I went with a lower amount
I’m really concerned about the revenue that’s coming offline and the environment we’re in right now.”
Monday, Reynolds first took this disagreement public by putting out a statement with the Republican senate leader Jack Whitver to say they agreed on a budget
It left out the house led by Speaker Pat Grassley who wants to spend $36 million more
Reynolds claims this is all part of negotiations
Senate to come in here and then we kind of end up back here and that’s just kind of the process that takes place every year so it’s just a matter of where those dollars land so that’s kind of part of the negotiation right now,” she said
Grassley said the state has a $2 billion ending balance and $4 billion in the Taxpayer Relief Fund
“We’re by no means somehow just opening up the wallet and spending every dollar we can get our hands on,” he said
Grassley says one of the biggest sticking points for House Republicans is that Reynolds’ bill doesn’t include $14 million in funding to increase pay for para educators
He says that funding was agreed to last year to get the House to go along with the Area Education Agency system overhaul
“Our caucus feels extremely strong that if we’re going to provide that level of support that we did with that bill last year that we’re not going to go back and just cut that and leave our schools in a situation to find the difference
Those are more like Governor Culver practices that we saw and we don’t want to see that happening on something like that,” he said
Chet Culver was the former Democratic governor ridiculed by Republicans for cutting spending 10% months after the legislature approved the budget
There also could be trouble in the Iowa Senate
About one third of Iowa’s Republican senators are threatening to hold up next year’s budget if their own leadership doesn’t allow a vote on eminent domain reform
but this is the first time that it could also stall final negotiations on key legislative actions
The Republican-led House has passed reforms curbing the use of eminent domain
but Republican leadership in the senate has not allowed debate
Some legislators are trying to stop a proposed carbon capture pipeline that received permission from state regulators to use eminent domain for access to people’s land
Governor Kim Reynolds has not called for restrictions on eminent domain
We asked her Thursday whether the senate should vote on restrictions like a dozen senators from her party have demanded
so I’m not going to get in the middle of it
really do everything we can to protect property rights but it is a part of the equation
thread that needle and get to that answer is part of the process,” she said
If the 12 senators keep their promise and vote no
Senate Republicans may not be able to pass a budget in a chamber despite holding 34 of the 50 seats
Reynolds says he’s looking into ideas that would see his Merc with a Mouth share the screen with more of the mutants, while also working on other projects.

With last year’s smash success ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’Ryan Reynolds leapfrogged into the position of being among the most valuable performers –– and creators –– among the Marvel ranks
He’s also been stepping back from the acting side of his career in the last few months, with word that he’s juggling several writing projects, including a comedy about a reforming boyband (more on that below) that could see him reunite with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ co-star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy
Still, the Deadpool whispers continue, and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is working on various treatments for an ensemble film featuring three or four X-Men characters
The actor/writer/producer is said to believe that keeping his f-bomb wielding anti-hero more on the sidelines could allow for the X-Men characters to be used in unexpected ways
Reynolds has been open about every Deadpool movie needing a strong reason to exist
and it’s possible this could provide the avenue he needs

Right now, it’s all just noodling, Reynolds figuring out what he wants to do without directly involving Disney and Marvel (though you know both companies will be interested to see what he comes up with)
And he’s said that he doesn’t intend to have Deadpool really find a place amongst the likes of the Avengers for storytelling reasons
Here’s what he said at the Time 100 summit:
If Deadpool becomes an Avenger or an X-Man
Not to mention that Marvel is already exploring its own X-Men future, with ‘Hunger Games’ prequel writer Michael Lesslie at work on a script for the mutant heroes
Chances are we’ll have to wait a while to see what Reynolds comes up with –– he prefers to take his time honing his treatments
and went through several different variations of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ at the early stage before it evolved into its final form (and that was partly thanks to Jackman’s decision to come back to the role of Logan/Wolverine)
and Ryan Reynolds attend 'The Adam Project' World Premiere at Alice Tully Hall on February 28

The other big project Reynolds is scripting at the moment is tentatively titled ‘Boy Band.’
much of the movie is a mystery –– we don’t know exactly what aspect of the boy band life would be featured
But given that Reynolds is looking to reunite with his friend and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ co-star Jackman on the new movie
we can imagine something catching up with the former members of a boy band group who have since gone their separate ways
The Netflix TV series ‘Girls5Eva’ covers similar territory
albeit from the point of view of a girl group
This is what Reynolds told about the project:
“I’m on a second draft. The first draft was incredible and written by one of my favorite writers, Jesse Andrews [‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl’]
I’m not filming anything for at least a year
This feels like it needs to have an extremely modest budget
and one that wouldn’t be all about going to pay above-the-line actors
Hugh and I are open to creative ways to make this movie at an absolute bargain.”
And this was his quote about the trouble with boy bands:
“A lot of members of boy bands — and there are a lot of them — had managers who left them high and dry
They experienced levels of fame that would be very difficult for anyone to navigate
when you are farming out your self-worth to an audience of screaming people
It creates a kind of arrested cultural development
They’re forever associated with that period of time in their lives
This would be about people in their 40s and 50s trying to get their lives back
I think there is something beautiful about that
The north star for me as a producer is joy
I feel like cynicism is a contracting industry and doesn’t have a great shelf life.”
Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Garner in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
This concept would likely be a few years away if it actually happens –– not only does Reynolds have to commit to a treatment and write (or co-write) it
but there’s also the matter of Marvel approving it and then finding space on its busy release schedule to get it into theaters
Reynolds has a lot of sway after the success of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ but the next couple of years alone are packed with planned movies
not to mention that while his most recent film had nods to the X-Men
the Marvel brass is also planning its own use of the classic characters in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ now filming
And the company is also putting the pieces in place for a rebooted mutant team in the future

Reynolds hopes swing tweaks can help shake slow startMay 3rd
PITTSBURGH -- Pirates bench coach Don Kelly played nine years in the Majors, so he knows first-hand that sometimes it just takes a jam-shot or a roller with eyes to help get you going offensively. Maybe all Bryan Reynolds needed to break out of his early-season slump was something like his groundout Tuesday
a bouncer that he hustled down the line for
But there’s something to be said about making your own luck
“He was hitting earlier this week and really getting after it
I think that's what separates him and others in the clubhouse -- the work they put in.”
Reynolds’ first 30 games were not his best at the plate
slashing .236/.294/.350 with three home runs and 14 RBIs
He battled a shoulder injury for a good chunk of April
which limited him to being just a designated hitter
The game has a different tempo when you don’t field
and it’s not as easy a transition as some might suspect
His 91.5 mph average exit velocity thus far would be a career-best if he maintains it
His expected stats (which measure quality of contact and whiffs) are in line with his expected stats from previous years
There is reason to believe that if he just stuck with the plan
his actual results would catch up to what his peripherals suggest they should be
The Pirates aren’t really in a position to just wait and see on offense
and getting their All-Star outfielder back to tip-top form could be a catalyst to get them going
Reynolds went hitless in last weekend’s Dodgers series and then in the first game of the Cubs series
So Reynolds did something he doesn’t do too often: he tinkered with his swing
I don't want to go down with it,” Reynolds said
But I think I got back to kind of what makes me good
Just try to remember that feeling and keep it going.”
The changes Reynolds made don’t appear to be drastic. He offered that when he’s batting left-handed, the difference is with his hands, and when he’s right-handed, it’s more with his load. Those tweaks to the left-handed swing appear to be working, as he took Colin Rea deep in his first at-bat Thursday. He picked up two hits swinging left-handed in Friday's 9-4 loss to the Padres
If you want a sign that May will be kinder than April
Sign up to receive our daily Morning Lineup to stay in the know about the latest trending topics around Major League Baseball
but [Rea’s] still got a tough heater and I haven't been hitting well left-handed,” Reynolds said after his homer
“Felt good with the adjustments I made and all that other stuff
so I had confidence in that going into it.”
Looking at that left-handed swing on the home run Thursday compared to the opening series against the Marlins
the bat is set at a different angle and the hands move a little less as he gets to his load:
and there really is no reason to consider doing so
but if this could help him make more consistent contact and translate that contact into hits
Derek Shelton often refers to Reynolds as the team’s best player
Given his pair of All-Star nods and long track record of success with the Pirates
it’s hard to argue any position player has been better since he arrived in 2019
Time will tell if these swing tweaks could help him get back to that form
Iowa school districts must adopt policies banning cell phones during class time
Kim Reynolds said will reduce distractions in the classroom
Reynolds signed the legislation, House File 782
at a ceremony April 30 in the Iowa Capitol rotunda surrounded by students from the Des Moines
Ankeny and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows school districts
The law requires Iowa’s public K-12 school districts to implement rules limiting cell phones during classroom instructional time
They can adopt stricter standards if they choose
It does not require private schools and charter schools to adopt policies restricting cell phones
but it directs the Iowa Department of Education to develop model policies that could be adopted by public
Several school districts around the state have already enacted their on policies restricting cell phone use
and Reynolds called the law a "floor" for districts to build on
said the school's decision last summer to ban cell phones during class has helped him improve his grades and made students happier by getting rid of distractions
"I wasn't happy that they were taking away our cell phones," he said
"But now I can see that it's really improved our school."
"My grandchildren weren’t very happy with me either for talking about taking the cell phones out of school," she joked
Reynolds proposed the legislation in her Condition of the State address in January as a centerpiece of her legislative agenda
The measure passed the Iowa Legislature with broad bipartisan support
"What I'm really proud about is this bill received very strong bipartisan support," she said
"And I think it's a great example of how we can come together to support simple
common sense solutions that can make an overwhelmingly positive difference."
School districts must have their policies in place by July 1
The Department of Education must provide model policy language to districts by May 1
The law allows parents to petition to schools to argue that their child needs a cell phone during the school day for “a legitimate reason related to the student’s physical or mental health.”
It also makes exceptions for students with disabilities
Schools’ policies must identify methods for students to communicate with their parent or guardian during an emergency
And school districts must amend their emergency operations plans to take into account the law restricting cell phone use during classes
portable media players and electronic communication equipment in its definition of “personal electronic devices” that must be restricted during class time
In addition to identifying methods for students to communicate with parents during an emergency
the law says school policies must specify how a student can communicate with their parents during school hours or while participating in school-sponsored activities
Schools’ policies must make clear which electronic devices and technologies will be able to be used by students for instructional purposes
Policies must also include the school’s protocol for securely storing students’ phones
And they must address what discipline students will face for violating the policy
schools across the Des Moines metro area began looking at policies meant to curb cell phone use during school hours
Dallas Center-Grimes and Ankeny are among the school districts which have approved cell phone policies
Des Moines' policy will take effect this fall for the 2025-26 school year
Des Moines' Hoover High School launched the Hoover Mental Health Movement program in August in an effort to limit cell phone use during instructional time
build a stronger school community and improve students' mental health
Hoover officials say they have achieved many of their goals
a huge decrease in class failures,” said Assistant Principal Robert Randazzo
“… Another huge one is a major decrease in out-of-school suspensions.”
Attendance is also up by about 4% compared with last year
This could be due to the push to help students connect and build community
“The number one factor on why students attend school is if they have a friend at school,” he said
Reynolds touted the improved grades and attendance and the drop in suspensions and student discipline that Hoover has seen as a result of the policy
I was told that there's been a complete culture shift at Hoover this year," she said
Ottumwa Superintendent Mike McGrory said his school district has seen "truly profound" results since implementing a policy last year that bans cell phones for the entire school day
He said the law will "empower" school board members and administrators to put similar policies in place
"This bill will create learning environments in our schools that will allow our students to thrive by supporting their academic and social-emotional success," he said
And it's really a win for the future of education."

The It Ends With Us drama has been dragging on for approximately 50,000 years now (it’s actually been eight months)
And the latest one involves… possible Ryan Reynolds and Travis Kelce beef
After that alleged text exchange came out, there were rumors that the complicated legal battle was affecting Taylor and Blake’s friendship
there are rumors that the whole ordeal is affecting Ryan’s friendship with Taylor’s NFL star BF — fans recently noticed that Travis is no longer following the Deadpool & Wolverine actor on Instagram
So, why did Travis Kelce unfollow Ryan Reynolds
Here’s a breakdown of the It Ends With Us-related drama
Travis hasn’t shared a statement about the unfollow, but per Page Six, it did have to do with Blake’s “messy legal nightmare.” Maybe the football player is just trying his best to stay out of the drama and the legal battle
it seems like there might not be any Travis
While greeting fans at Green Day’s May 1 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, Ryan was repeatedly asked about what happened between him and Travis
he totally ignored the photographer asking the question
Ryan didn’t even react with a facial expression — he just kept posing for selfies and signing autographs
I feel like he would just shut down the rumor if there wasn’t any truth to it… but that’s just me speculating
I suppose we’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out

Nebraska linebacker commit Jase Reynolds (second from left) poses with head coach Matt Rhule
linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek and defensive coordinator John Butler on a recruiting visit
The concept of loyalty goes a long way for Jase Reynolds
and it’s why the trust of the Nebraska football coaching staff means so much
When Nebraska extended a scholarship offer to Reynolds
it represented his first opportunity at the collegiate level
For a player who’d long hoped to get there
it was a milestone that he’d been working toward
when Reynolds officially announced his commitment to the Nebraska football program
playing at Nebraska had been a dream of mine; I always pictured myself throwing the bones one day,” Reynolds said
“Nebraska was the first school to believe in me
and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity.”
200-pound linebacker who is a three-star recruit according to Rivals
has long been one of NU’s top defensive targets
He was just the third in-state player in his class to receive a Husker scholarship offer after working out in front of NU coaches over the summer
an opportunity which brought his skillset to the attention of Husker assistant Rob Dvoracek
has steadily recruited Reynolds ever since and visited him last week to help seal the deal
“Since day one he’s always treated me like family,” Reynolds said of Dvoracek
Even as he picked up offers from the likes of Air Force
Kansas State and Northwestern and took visits elsewhere
Reynolds’ attention remained with Nebraska
He visited Lincoln multiple times in the fall
returned for a January junior day to meet the team’s new defensive coaches and tacked on a final unofficial visit to NU’s spring practice on April 26
“Once I got to know the guys in the linebacker room I knew without a doubt Nebraska was the right place for me,” Reynolds said
A multi-sport athlete at Elkhorn North who also plays baseball and basketball
Reynolds recorded 91 tackles during his junior season of high school football this fall
He’s lined up all over the field defensively
ranging from an outside linebacker to a playmaking safety who covers ground quickly
Reynolds’ future is at linebacker in NU’s defensive scheme
but that background is one reason why the Huskers see a future difference-maker in him
but I’m also comfortable dropping back and matching routes when needed,” Reynolds said
Reynolds’ commitment marks Nebraska’s first entry into its 2026 recruiting class in over five months as he joins quarterback Dayton Raiola
defensive back CJ Bronaugh and wide receiver Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte as NU’s current pledges
have dreamed of playing in a Nebraska uniform for longer than Reynolds
“I’m a homegrown Nebraska kid who lives and breathes everything Huskers,” he said
and I’m excited to bring that mindset to Lincoln
I know how much winning means to this state
and I’m committed to doing everything I can to help Nebraska win.”

The two were spotted having an intimate conversation
As Lively’s back-and-forth with former collaborator Justin Baldoni remained a topic of discussion
the actress herself maintained a relatively low profile
The actress has more recently been stepping back into the spotlight and just gave a speech during the Time100 Gala
and a lip reader is now making claims about a chat he and Lively had amid the event
Blake Lively was named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People
Lively alluded to her legal battle and also said her mother experienced mistreatment by a “work acquaintance.” The star was seated next to her husband before giving her speech
and lip reader Nicola Hickling claims that Reynolds made a relatively direct statement to Lively before she got up to speak:
You need to understand what I am saying to you right now
with the actress then proceeding to deliver her speech
These supposed comments between the celebrity couple should be taken with a massive grain of salt
as we can’t say with certainty what was said during their intimate conversation
she’s experienced “the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life.” As it stands
it remains to be seen what’ll become of Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni
The same can also be said as to whether there’s any kind of tension between her and Ryan Reynolds
based on their conversation at the Time 100 gala
Reynolds continues to be supportive of Lively during this time

Jase Reynolds is staying home. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound edge linebacker from Elkhorn North (Neb.) has committed to the class of 2026 for Nebraska
The Huskers extended an offer to Reynolds following a Friday Night Lights camp last year in Lincoln
“I enjoyed talking to coach Rhule and coach Dvoracek during the camp,” Reynolds said. “They pulled me aside at the end, and offered me. I was very excited and I’m extremely grateful.”
Reynolds visited Nebraska four times last fall for game day visits. He also took unofficial trips to Minnesota, Iowa State, and Kansas State. Reynolds also held offers from Kansas State, Northwestern and Air Force.
“One thing I like about coach Rhule and the whole coaching staff is that they preach that you get better at football by playing football,” Reynolds said. “Knowing that this program is all about development from the moment you get on campus is a great thing to consider when picking a school.”

Reynolds is one of just three Nebraska recruits with an offer from the Huskers. The others are tight end Isaac Jensen (Millard South) and defensive back Darion Jones (Omaha North)
He is the fourth known commitment for the Huskers in the 2026 class. Reynolds joins quarterback Dayton Raiola, wide receiver Dveyoun Bonwell-Witte, and cornerback CJ Bronaugh.
Reynolds completed his junior season with 91 total tackles, including 55 solo tackles, two tackles for loss, and one sack. Additionally, he recorded eight passes defended and one forced fumble.
