2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals Inc (“Eupraxia” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ:EPRX) (TSX:EPRX) a clinical-stage biotechnology company leveraging its proprietary DiffuSphere™ technology designed to optimize drug delivery for applications with significant unmet need today announced positive treatment outcomes from its ongoing RESOLVE Phase 1b/2a trial evaluating EP-104GI for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis ("EoE") nine-month data was disclosed for the first time demonstrating that all three patients dosed at 48mg of EP-104GI experienced sustained or improved treatment outcomes after nine months of therapy “EoE is a chronic medical condition and novel treatment options are needed to effectively manage the long-term tissue inflammation and other associated symptoms of EoE,” said Dr MPH (University of North Carolina School of Medicine) and Chairman of the Company's Gastrointestinal Clinical Advisory Board “The durability in symptom reduction coupled with the prolonged improvement in tissue health from the ongoing RESOLVE trial suggest that EP-104GI could be exerting a tissue remodeling effect on the esophagus I look forward to EP-104GI continuing to advance in the clinic as patients with EoE are in need of new treatment options with disease-modifying potential.” “Based on the unprecedented durability in symptom improvements we are now observing in the RESOLVE study we believe EP-104GI has the potential to significantly improve upon the current standard of care for EoE,” said Dr “After receiving treatment with EP-104GI nine months earlier all patients in the trial dosed at 48mg continue to experience sustained or improved treatment outcomes across multiple clinical measurements It is also important to note that patients received 48mg EP-104GI which is 50% of the potential dose per site and covers only the lower two-thirds of the esophagus As we further dose optimize EP-104GI and expand therapeutic coverage of the esophagus we have the opportunity to potentially realize even further improvements on top of these already remarkable and promising results.” EoE is an inflammatory-mediated disease in which white blood cells migrate into and become trapped in the esophagus creating pain and difficulty with swallowing food The Company’s ongoing RESOLVE trial is a Phase 1b/2a dose-escalation study that is evaluating EP-104GI across multiple patient cohorts by assessing key clinical measurements associated with EoE including Straumann Dysphagia Index (“SDI”) impact on tissue health (histology) as measured by EoEHSS (“Eosinophilic Esophagitis Histology Scoring System”) and the measurement of peak eosinophil count ("PEC") Key Findings from the 9-month data for Cohort 5 of the RESOLVE trialNine-month data was collected for the first time in the RESOLVE study in Cohort 5 Each patient in Cohort 5 received 12 injections of 4 mg EP-104GI (total dose: 48 mg) delivered to the lower two-thirds of the esophagus EP-104GI Pharmacokinetics - week 36 levels remain steady and comparable to week 12 Key Findings from the 6-month data for Cohort 6 of the RESOLVE Trial Each patient in the sixth cohort received 16 injections of 4 mg EP-104GI (total dose: 64 mg) targeting the lower three-quarters of the esophagus  ** EoEHSS is a composite score of various histological inflammatory measures split into separate metrics of "stage" (extent) and "grade" (severity) The Company will host a webinar with guest to discuss data from the RESOLVE trial on Friday Please click on the link below to register for the webinar: Register here dose-escalation study evaluating the safety and efficacy of EP-104GI in adults with histologically confirmed active EoE The treatment is administered as a single dose via four to 20 esophageal wall injections with dose escalations modifying either the dose per site or the number of sites Patients in Cohorts 1–4 were evaluated for up to 24 weeks while patients in Cohorts 5 and beyond are assessed for up to 52 weeks Eupraxia plans to disclose additional data periodically Additional long-term data to be released with higher doses in Q3 2025 According to market research from Clearview Healthcare Partners EoE affects more than 450,000 people in the United States and has been identified by the American Gastroenterological Association as rapidly increasing in both incidence and prevalence Impacts from both symptoms and interventions frequently lead to mental health issues compounding the disease burden of EoE for both the healthcare system and the individual Eupraxia is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of locally delivered extended-release products that have the potential to address therapeutic areas with high unmet medical need is designed to facilitate targeted drug delivery of both existing and novel drugs The technology is designed to support extended duration of effect and delivery of drugs in a hyper-localized fashion targeting only the tissues that physicians are wanting to treat We believe the potential for fewer adverse events may be achieved through the precision targeting and the stable and flat delivery of the active ingredient when using the DiffuSphere™ technology versus the peaks and troughs seen with more traditional drug delivery methods The precision of Eupraxia's DiffuSphere™ technology platform has the potential to augment and transform existing FDA-approved drugs to improve their safety The potential uses in therapeutic areas may go beyond pain and inflammatory gastrointestinal disease where Eupraxia currently is developing advanced treatments infectious disease and other critical disease areas Notice Regarding Forward-looking Statements and Information Although Eupraxia has attempted to identify important factors that could cause actual actions events or results to differ materially from those described in forward-looking statements and information there may be other factors that cause actions events or results to differ from those anticipated No forward-looking statement or information can be guaranteed Except as required by applicable securities laws forward-looking statements and information speak only as of the date on which they are made and Eupraxia undertakes no obligation to publicly update or revise any forward-looking statement or information For investor and media inquiries, please contact:Danielle Egan, Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals Inc.778.401.3302degan@eupraxiapharma.com Kevin Gardner, on behalf of:Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals Inc.617.283.2856kgardner@lifesciadvisors.com From getting answers from government agencies to cutting through red tape to get you results Enter your email address for news and updates Cover EditorialsARTS & CULTURE Fashion EditorialsInterviewsSubscriptionLoyalty ProgramCONTACT We sat down with SAINt JHN to talk about the new single ‘Poppin’ and the upcoming album pulling pieces of SAINt apart to stitch them back together or "collection" as SAINt refers to it feels expansive—designed to be played loud capturing the chaos and energy that comes with it Most people talk about their moms or grandmothers playing Anita Baker or Tina Turner I saw my brother on the street corner in a cypher Festival Season is always an important time of the year for artists was this album made with performances in mind or just encapsulating that time of year my greatest moments of enlightenment musically after I get off of tour After I’ve touched a world of people who have consumed and lived in the art or dots connected that didn’t connect prior to They reveal themselves. The intention for FESTIVAL SEASON is that I remembered all of those moments after I left tour and I wanted to take them back with me on tour So I created a live experience for the live experience and for the people who never got a chance to see the live experience It plays like you were just at a show - starts dramatic and it ends emotional - there's a lot of crowd interaction and all of those were pulled from real shows Your single Body on me has a heavy rock influence to it tell us about your intentions behind that record All music has its own frequency of aggression I wanted the frequency you tend to only get from rock adjacent songs where there’s a sound wall that blows you away I picture that old Maxwell ad—the guy in front of the speakers I’ve always been simplistic in my previous collections it’s been simplistic - I would always tell whoever I was working with to stop so everything is almost a little bit undone in the best possible way In this collection I wanted to highlight instrumentation I want you to think this doesn’t sound right but it feels right things that probably aren’t in the best interest of you getting clarity but the greatest interest in you feeling emotion The flow of this project feels cinematic—what was your process for sequencing the songs I rearrange every project thousands of times it’s not always the construction of the outfit but the arrangement of the outfit that allows you to understand it So I’m really cautious because I want to be precise accurate on what I'm conveying and what you're receiving The core of this entire collection is ‘come see it You can look at the photograph of it in the magazine if you want but don’t you think it might be more impactful to walk around it Maybe there's something I wrote somewhere that you can’t see on the flat end So FESTIVAL SEASON means you have to come visit You worked with Tay Keith on Poppin what role did you want this song to play within the collection I wanted it to capture the energy of different stages at my festival This whole project is my festival—you’re listening to it unfold That’s why the soundscape shifts from track to track just like the atmosphere changes from stage to stage like stepping into the most electrifying part of the crowd It touches on quite a serious topic if you dig under the layers it’s quite a dark space and in the same breath it’s light and humorous The magic of it is my mum is heavily religious the iconography and the cross it’s because I’ve learnt to embrace the thing that I ran from When I was younger I rejected it because i hated the way it was impressed upon me but full circle is growing up and coming back to the cross You see a body of work that has the cross on the lead art work but I'm talking about strippers because I'm wrestling with my faith and my frustrations and my future and frivolous nature so I'm being all the way human so my mum praying for me on track 13 about strippers taking it lightly because she knows my heart and knows the SAINt JHN she gave birth to So there is a marvellous humour to it and a hopeful prayer - so it’s serious What does your mother think of this collection I picked her up in my Ferrari and played her the entire project in the car Me taking the Ferrari to pick her up was for me to tell her the nights she slept on the landfill and the days she worked a triple shift as a nurse wasn’t in vain The physical representation of that is ‘look at this Italian sports car that doesn't mean anything But it means that we aren’t where we were and we are not who we were' I didn’t know how she would respond and she was blown away I’m playing all this wild shit for her and all she kept saying was ‘wow’ your musicality has gone to another place What’s another component to the festival season When the music is off i gotta tell you the truth An interesting song title on the project is Guyanese Moshpit what would you describe as a Guyanese Moshpit as opposed to a regular moshpit I won’t even describe it because I think you need to see it Guyanese Moshpit is just the introduction to me showing the rest of the world what home is for me What collection was created first ‘FESTIVAL SEASON’ or You feel the rebellion in FESTIVAL SEASON and Fake Tears From a Pop Star gives you the resolve You’ll feel a dissonance here and the harmony comes after There were some great collaborations on the last project was it intentional to scale back on that this time around It was just me in the beginning and it’ll be just me in the end I’ll collaborate when I feel like it's exactly what I wanna do There’s some musical collaborations that I still want That I’m still interested in doing but I'm more interested in physical collaborations and spaces that you’ve never seen me venture from for example clothing collaborations related to FESTIVAL SEASON No hype...we just make the sh*t WE wanna wear Spring '25Talk to us about your relationship towards fashion "Most of my art is inspired by fashion It’s the reason I make collections instead of albums (4th July 23)." VICTORIA, BC, Feb. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ - Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals Inc. ("Eupraxia" or the "Company") (TSX: EPRX) (NASDAQ: EPRX) a clinical-stage biotechnology company specializing in precision local drug delivery today announced additional positive clinical data from its ongoing RESOLVE Phase 1b/2a trial evaluating EP-104GI for the treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis ("EoE") The Company's ongoing RESOLVE trial is a Phase 1b/2a impact on tissue health (histology) as measured by EoEHSS positive efficacy and safety outcomes continue to be observed," said Dr "We believe the positive dose-response data from these first six cohorts clearly demonstrate that precise localized delivery of EP-104GI at higher doses is leading to further improvements in both tissue health and symptom reductions no serious adverse events nor events of oral or gastrointestinal candidiasis commonly seen in EOE patients being treated with steroids have been observed in any of the first six Cohorts." "We are highly encouraged by the fact that EP-104GI has demonstrated strong activity despite only being administered to varying portions of the esophagus to this point in the trial This suggests that maximizing esophageal coverage with EP-104GI could lead to further improvements in histology and symptoms we intend to further explore the potential treatment effect of EP-104GI at higher dosing levels and over expanded esophageal coverage in the upcoming cohorts The collective safety and efficacy data from the RESOLVE study continue to demonstrate that EP-104GI has the potential to become a new standard of care for the treatment of EoE and we look forward to reporting the first set of nine-month data from the RESOLVE study in the second quarter." Key Findings from the Sixth Cohort of the RESOLVE Trial there is a clear effect of dose on both patient symptoms (SDI) and tissue health (PEC and EoEHSS) than what has been demonstrated by currently approved treatments for EoE * PEC (Peak Eosinophil Count) is reported as peak reduction across a standard number of biopsy sites in the treatment area and remission rate is the percentage of biopsy sites (across all sites) with complete remission (PEC≤6)  ** EoEHSS (Eosinophilic Esophagitis Histology Scoring System) is a composite score of various histological inflammatory measures The Company will host a Webinar this Wednesday Please click on the link below to register for the Webinar: Link to Webinar Eupraxia anticipates releasing 12-week data in late Q2 2025 2025 /PRNewswire/ - Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals Inc ("Eupraxia" or the "Company") (NASDAQ:EPRX) (TSX:EPRX) and former CFO Alex Rothwell will assume the role VICTORIA 2025 /PRNewswire/ - Eupraxia Pharmaceuticals.. Danny Davis, (D., Ill.), who has proposed a bill that would end the practice nationwide “And this is a vulnerable population that would find a little nest egg like this life-changing.” The Resolve Philly and Spotlight PA investigation also found: Nearly every county in the state took Social Security money intended for children in their care More than a quarter of the agencies did not prove the money they received for specific children was actually spent on those kids Only five counties in the state proved they directly notified foster care youth or their families that the county was taking the money all have made changes in recent years to limit or end the practice Local government agencies, however, argue they need the money to compensate themselves for the cost of room and other services they are required to provide as foster care agencies At least one Pennsylvania lawmaker has expressed concern about creating a “windfall” for kids when they age out of the system In response to questions and findings from Spotlight PA and Resolve Philly a spokesperson for the federal Social Security Administration (SSA) said that the agency follows a process to “ensure a payee is suitable.” The SSA did not have readily available data on how many Pennsylvania counties send in the required reports about how they use the money Under federal law which are typically funded by a mix of state Children are not required to reimburse these agencies for their time in foster care But state and county child welfare systems nationwide and throughout Pennsylvania routinely take children’s Social Security money to offset costs Kids can be eligible for Social Security benefits for two reasons: their own disability or financial need or if a parent or guardian has paid enough money into Social Security before retiring The SSA allows foster care agencies to use that money to pay for monthly “maintenance” and any unmet needs then requires whatever remains to be set aside Child advocates argue federal law places the cost of this care on states, and also point to a 2003 federal court decision that ruled children in foster care owe no debt for the services they receive At least 1,300 Pennsylvania children in foster care had Social Security benefits taken from them Child welfare agencies typically say they keep the money to compensate the government for the cost of care Child advocates call the practice “stealing” from foster kids Kids can be eligible for Social Security benefits for their own disability or financial need which allows state agencies to step in and receive it This money makes up less than 1% of a typical county’s child welfare budget This still comes out to thousands of dollars each year for some individual children The money could help a child’s transition to adulthood when foster care ends usually to conserve the money on behalf of kids instead Cumberland) proposed legislation in 2024 that would conserve the funds for Pennsylvania foster kids According to an expert familiar with the process Pennsylvania foster care agencies typically screen children’s records to find those who are eligible for Social Security benefits and then apply to become that payee Such financial representatives are legally required to act in the best interests of the children The SSA’s guidelines list family and even close friends as preferred payees for these benefits if the agency is listed as a legal guardian in a court order the agency becomes the first choice to receive a child’s benefits the SSA told the newsrooms it tries to find a willing relative or friend if one is available But the SSA said it often cannot find them The relatives and guardians that the SSA misses are often unaware the money is available Nearly 75% of children in foster care who are eligible for these benefits have a child welfare agency chosen to receive the money Advocates have long decried this practice of harvesting money from children calling it at best a clear conflict of interest “How can a representative payee act in a child’s best interests by taking money from them for services the government pays for?” said Daniel Hatcher a professor at the University of Baltimore School of Law From 2020 through 2023, 44 of 47 Pennsylvania agencies reviewed by Resolve Philly and Spotlight PA collected Social Security benefits (and some other benefits) for foster youth The amount of money received by counties varied widely: in one year Forest County received $970 — while in a different year — Philadelphia received nearly $1 million While local foster care agencies go through the SSA’s process to receive these benefits many had trouble providing details to reporters about how the funds were used Almost a quarter of the state’s agencies did not provide proof to Resolve Philly and Spotlight PA that they conduct individual accounting of the benefits and Wayne — produced the spending reports they must send to the SSA These reports outline the total amount of money received and how much was spent on different categories like food and housing provided other detailed records showing line-item expenses for foster youth like counseling In response to Resolve Philly and Spotlight PA’s findings an Allegheny County Department of Human Services spokesperson said that “the vast majority of the funds are used to pay a foster family to care for the child.” Philadelphia’s Department of Human Services provided only records of bulk deposits of SSA benefits into the city’s $6 billion general fund The data could not show how many children it collects money for or how it spends those funds Via an email sent to reporters in 2023 as part of the initial investigation a Philadelphia spokesperson said the city’s collection of this money is “lawful” and that it goes toward the cost of care In the wake of states changing their laws regarding Social Security benefits for foster children the SSA asked for input to inform its policies The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services responded that the amount of money received is “not materially significant to the state’s child welfare budget,” adding that the cost may be higher for rural counties with smaller budgets A 2021 Congressional Research Service report on the subject said that child welfare agencies describe the funding as “important.” Resolve Philly and Spotlight PA found these Social Security benefits make up less than 1% of a typical county’s child welfare budget this money means a lot more to these kids than it does to the government,” said Amy Harfeld an attorney who’s led successful efforts to change related laws in other states says he was separated from his mother and siblings after his dad’s death because of poverty “My dad was the breadwinner and she could no longer take care of us,” he said of his mother He said he spent 15 years living across more than a dozen homes in Philadelphia’s foster care system That included a three-year haul at his last stop where his foster parents told him when he turned 18 he feels they were “in it for the money,” and the rotating cast of kids that cycled through the home could “count the grains of rice we got on our plate for dinner — there were no layers to it.” The lack of food in other foster homes had led him to hide food in napkins so he could ration it out to himself later and lighten his hunger pangs “It was like a business to them where they just kept taking in foster kids,” he said adding that it was upsetting to think the money his father paid into the system might have been used to pay for strangers who didn’t truly care about him Smiley said the benefits would have been helpful during the periods of homelessness he went through or might have enabled him to get his license and a car to make it easier to find work The amount of money available to a child when they age out of foster care can vary dramatically The Resolve Philly and Spotlight PA analysis found multiple instances of a county taking $10,000 or more each year from one child Amy Dworsky — a senior fellow at Chapin Hall a leading research group on child welfare — said in a statement that money can “help stabilize young people against homelessness and unemployment and other negative outcomes of aging out of foster care.” Research also shows that homelessness in a young person’s life raises the risks of physical and mental health problems or their advocates that the foster care agency has applied to receive the benefits Six counties said they rely on the SSA to send that notice but in many cases legal documents name the child welfare agency The result is foster children often having no idea they have money owed to them or that counties are receiving it The best way to find out if you can get these benefits is to visit the SSA website and read more there. There they have pages dedicated to SSI benefits and how to apply for them, as well as survivor benefits. You can fill out the SSA’s form with the kind of benefits you want to apply for as well as some details about yourself for more specific guidance In 2021, Zaveonte Winn and his brother Xavier were in the care of Vaughn Jackson, a longtime Philadelphia boxing trainer, when Jackson discovered the city government had been taking Social Security money due to them. The benefits came from their late adoptive mother who worked as a nurse and had paid into the Social Security system for decades he was told he didn’t qualify because the children were already receiving Social Security payments money Jackson had never seen despite being the kids’ legal guardian for months Jackson fought through the Philadelphia nonprofit Community Legal Services to get the money back: $9,070 per child which has since helped him become a mechanic in the U.S where he is currently stationed in Germany “I think it just felt good to him to have some money for a foundation because most of these kids As lawmakers in Harrisburg consider changes First, state law says counties do not have to spend public money until they exhaust all of a foster child's own funds. Child advocates believe this policy and how it’s been interpreted conflicts with federal law requiring states to foot the bill, as well as a 2003 federal court decision that clarified foster children owe no debts for their care Not all lawmakers think the issue is cut and dry Fayette) expressed mixed feelings in an October state House hearing “The lack of notice and transparency is appalling,” she said But she was concerned the money would be “almost a windfall then for a child who’s receiving these benefits.” the attorney who has pushed for children to receive owed benefits in other states Harfeld said the benefits are no different than a child receiving something like a trust fund “The notion that we would tax them for their own involuntary stay in foster care is just a new level of chutzpah,” Harfeld said The second problem is figuring out how to administer a program that sets aside money for kids and dispenses it to them when they exit foster care Brian Bornman — executive director of Pennsylvania Children and Youth Administrators which represents child welfare administrators around the state — argued that Pennsylvania should create an office to handle the bill’s provisions Delozier, the Cumberland County representative, said there are still administrative details to be worked out. She plans to introduce an updated version of the bill this legislative session Krajewski of Philadelphia said he crafted the bill with Delozier because it’s “the right thing to do,” but said he also understands it is a short-term investment to cut off the higher long-term costs of providing more services in the future other states are starting to crack down on the practice Laura Kelly banned the state’s Department for Children and Families from spending foster youth’s Social Security benefits A 2019 ruling in Alaska’s Superior Court found that the state violated the rights of foster kids when the Office of Children’s Services failed to notify youth or their lawyers about the money and the agency’s intention to take it Maryland enacted a law that requires a foster child’s lawyers to be notified when an agency applies to receive benefits The law makes it easier for a child’s counsel to name a different payee and also requires a portion of those benefits to be set aside for the child Krajewski and Delozier are planning for their bill, modeled after an Arizona law to similarly require the state to set aside benefits for kids We grant elected officials extraordinary power when we give them our vote which means we must demand extraordinary accountability once they are in office That’s why Spotlight PA’s reporting is more important than ever with no political agenda or opinion pieces allowing us to prioritize investigative and public-service journalism that gets results If you’re looking for a meaningful way to make a difference in these uncertain times I can’t think of a better investment than Spotlight PA’s truthful trusted reporting for Pennsylvania — journalism that gets real results Your tax-deductible support of any amount will ensure our vital work can continue Sign up for PA Post to understand what's happening across PA - in less than five minutes a day © 2025 Spotlight PA. This site is powered by Netlify DaVinci Resolve Studio 20.0 is a major release including a set of new AI-powered features for video editing and audio production The update – currently available in public beta – is free to all existing users we’ve rounded up the key features for colorists and effects artists The new Chroma Warp tool makes it possible to create looks with intuitive gesture controls It is designed to create looks intuitively with users selecting a color in the viewer and dragging to adjust its hue and saturation simultaneously the Resolve FX Warper effect gets a new Curves Warp mode which creates a custom polygon with spline points for finer control when warping images Magic Mask DaVinci Resolve’s AI-based feature for generating mattes and now operates in a single mode for both people and objects with users now placing points to make selections then using the paint tools to include or exclude surrounding regions of the image which automatically generates depth mattes has been updated to improve speed and accuracy For color management across a pipeline, the software has been updated to ACES 2.0, and OpenColorIO is supported as Resolve FX Effects artists get deep compositing support in the integrated Fusion compositing toolset Deep compositing, long supported in more VFX-focused apps like Nuke, makes use of depth data encoded in image formats like OpenEXR to control object visibility It simplifies the process of generating and managing holdouts particularly when working with motion blur or environment fog Deep images can now be viewed in the Fusion viewer or the 3D view It is also possible to render deep images from the 3D environment and export them as deep EXRs via the Fusion saver node There is also a new 360° Dome Light for environment lighting with a number of key tools updated to support 180° workflows Pipeline improvements include full multi-layer workflows with all of Fusion’s nodes now able to access each layer within multi-layer EXR or PSD files Fusion also now natively supports Cryptomatte ID matte data in EXR files We aim to cover the new features on the Fusion Page – and in Fusion Studio Blackmagic Design’s standalone compositing app – in a separate story IntelliScript automatically generates an edit timeline matching a user-provided script The Cut and Edit pages get new AI tools for automatically creating edit timelines matching a user-provided script; Find out more President Joe Biden Signs Resolve Tibet Act Strengthens America's Tibet Policy on July 12 This legislation delineates and will govern the US policy toward Tibet and the Tibetan struggle for freedom and justice.  Section 2 of the Act has 12 clauses explaining how negotiations between 2002 and 2010 failed and why they were impossible. This was due to China's insistence on the illogical precondition that the Dalai Lama recognize Tibet as having been a part of China since ancient times "The United States Government has never taken a position that Tibet was a part of China since ancient times." Tibet has been an independent country with a long cultural, religious, and political history. Since the Chinese occupation of Tibet in 1950, China has consistently tried every means to justify its presence in Tibet, including distortion of Tibetan history. Washington reiterated that Tibet has never been a part of China since ancient times Free and democratic nations around the world should uphold and recognize this historical truth This will awaken China from its condescending big bully stupor and arm-twisting maneuver. It will force China to accept the reality that its military occupation of Tibet was brutal, illegal, and against the United Nations Charter It recognizes the Tibetan people as having distinct religious it emphasizes that the Tibet issue must be resolved by international law through peaceful means and dialogue without preconditions These covenants establish the right to self-determination Tibetans can "freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic Section 4 of the Act rejects the Chinese claim that Tibet has been part of China since ancient times as "historically inaccurate." It also states that US public diplomacy efforts will "counter disinformation about Tibet from the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party." This includes addressing disinformation about the history of Tibet This is a clear message from the US government to China to stop distorting Tibetan history and religious culture it calls on China to refrain from interfering in the selection of Tibetan spiritual leaders including the reincarnation of the 14th Dalai Lama The Act also defines Tibet's geographical area and composition. It has pointed out all the Tibetan regions under the traditional three provinces of U-Tsang, Amdo, and Kham as Tibet This is a considerable blow to the CCP's policy of limiting Tibet to China's so-called "Tibet Autonomous Region." Furthermore it also challenges Beijing's efforts to erase the nomenclature "Tibet" and replace it with "Xizang." Washington's Resolve Tibet Act is about the US policy to resolve the Tibet-China dispute according to International law and the UN Charter through peaceful dialogue It states that the Chinese occupation of Tibet is illegal and the Tibet issue is still an unresolved international issue it also states that UN members have an obligation to resolve it.  the Act refers to the UN resolution on Tibet The Act also warns China to stop spreading disinformation about Tibet and Tibetans China uses such disinformation to justify its illegal occupation of Tibet and interference in Tibetan religious matters None of this bodes well for peace and stability in Asia and the world If the international community seeks a world free of violence Allowing a destructive authoritative regime like China to continue its arm-twisting hegemonic maneuvering in neighboring regions is unacceptable It is high time to tame and control the authoritative regimes posing obstacles to world peace and stability Free and democratic nations must take this US initiative to revise their national policy toward China.  Author: Tsewang Gyalpo Arya You must be logged in to post a comment ' + scriptOptions._localizedStrings.webview_notification_text + ' " + scriptOptions._localizedStrings.redirect_overlay_title + " " + scriptOptions._localizedStrings.redirect_overlay_text + " var(--mb-colour-greyscale-london-5));} | By Invitation: Europe in 2025.css-1tik00t{color:var(--header-headline-color there is no question that the rules-based international order is being irreversibly transformed The purposes and principles of the charter of the United Nations have been forcefully torn apart by Russia despite its status as a permanent member of the UN Security Council With its invasion of Ukraine and its actions elsewhere Russia is attempting to rearrange the international system in a way that benefits only aggressors This article appeared in the Europe section of the print edition of The World Ahead 2025 under the headline “Ukraine is a litmus test for the resolve of Europe and its allies” Future-gazing analysis, predictions and speculation A global round-up from The Economist Intelligence Unit Our selection of events taking place around the world CONCORD, N.C. - Three points-paying races three incidents out of their control - it would be enough to bury some teams.  But a quick glance at the NASCAR Cup Series points standings and one would never know that the above narrative has been the story of Chase Elliott and the No 9 NAPA Auto Parts Chevy squad thus far in 2025 Elliott is in a share of fourth place alongside Christopher Bell Elliott too has a win this year, claiming the Clash And yet the 9 team has done anything but fold "It says a lot about the resolve of this team to get whatever we can get and if you'd told me the circumstances of the first three races I'd have been like we'd be 35th,'" said crew chief Alan Gustafson I'm happy with the team and the focus on just the continuous improvement and doing what we can do and focusing on what we can control."  He led two laps and finished third in stage two at Daytona but was collected a crash in stage three he was fifth in stage one and hovered near the front until being squeezed into the wall in stage two.  Both times the 9 team was able to rally. But on Sunday at Circuit of The Americas the team was tested even further after Elliott was contacted and spun around in the very first corner of the race resulting in a damaged toe link and necessitating a race's worth of repairs and altered strategy.  And after three straight events of fast race cars being hampered by circumstances out of their control Sunday's incident brought with it plenty of frustration.  "My expectations are that everyone is going to be mad and frustrated because if you're passionate about what you do you feel like you were done wrong," Gustafson explained But I think my focus from there is to take that energy and use it to help our situation we just focus on what we can do to improve our position and improve the car We knew we had a good car and we knew the damage shouldn't be so bad we couldn't over come it so it was pretty easy to get on that pretty quickly." in addition to presenting turns of both the left-hand and right-hand variety first repairing the toe link and then chipping away at the damage to try to bring the race car back as close to where it started as possible.  "I would say it was 80% of what it was by the end," Gustafson handicapped "I'm very confident that after (qualifying on) Saturday We needed some good circumstances after the damage to get back to where we were Gustafson also took advantage of other teams short pitting staying out to collect six key points by finishing fifth in stage one.  By the time stage three came around, the No. 9 car was competitive again and Elliott started a slow with the laps winding down and having to come from the back yet again due to staying out in stage two Elliott's progress was sure to be limited.  RELATED: How Hendrick Motorsports drivers have fared at Phoenix Raceway Then a final caution flag flew with 18 to go bringing Elliott in and positioning the No 9 as one of the first cars in line with fresh rubber once the race went green again moving into fourth on the last lap to secure an unlikely top five Along with the stage points he scored 39 markers and anyone looking back at the scoresheet years from now would never know any different.  Elliott and Gustafson, now the most tenured driver/crew chief pairing in all of the Cup Series Sunday's was far from their first taste of adversity But championships aren't necessarily won with wins and smooth days recovering and seizing opportunities when they're presented turning near-catastrophe into solid finishes along the way.  And if this is what the 9 team is capable of through calamity Gustafson is looking forward to what a clean "Perspective is worth a lot and we're really going to appreciate a straight-forward race," he grinned "That could go a long way in itself."  Hamas spokesperson Basem Naim on Friday said the "deliberate and brutal massacre" by Israel of killing more than a dozen first responders and aid workers in Gaza "will not weaken the resolve of the Palestinian people nor will they deter us from our legitimate struggle for self-determination." An Israeli blockade of a site in the al-Baraksat area of Rafah in southern Gaza this week left 15 people trapped inside All were either members of the civil defence team or Unrwa staff.  Only one intact body was retrieved from the scene "We hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for this premeditated massacre and demand that the United Nations and all relevant human rights bodies take immediate and concrete action to hold the perpetrators accountable," Naim said in a statement "The continued failure of the international community to enforce accountability has only emboldened the occupation regime to escalate its war crimes with impunity These atrocities will not weaken the resolve of the Palestinian people nor will they deter us from our legitimate struggle for self-determination and national liberation." Please upgrade your browser or activate Google Chrome Frame to improve your experience we shimmied our bodies further back on descents Waaaay back until our front tire had as little grip as possible and our jorts were ripped by the rear tread Thank goodness that silliness has ceased.  We now have dropper posts that burp themselves when they get cranky and position that saddle as low as possible for maximum mobility This fresh Wolf Tooth Resolve Rev 2 dropper post eats all the vitamins to come in strong with adjustable travel in 5mm increments They also added a 34.9mm diameter and a longer 242mm version to fit more bikes and inseams I spoke with several shop mechanics who said that the Resolve is as simple to work on as a lower fork service The company shimmed a 200mm post to 180mm to fit my bike so I can’t speak to serviceability just yet.  It uses a small cable catch at the base of the post instead of utilizing the cable head to actuate I’m curious why some brands go this route when the cable already has a head attached that could seat in the actuator leaving the open end of the cable to slide into the handlebar remote It would make one less small piece to lose sliding this post in your frame is a cinch taking roughly ten minutes to complete.  Actuation on the Resolve Rev2 slips between the lightning-fast Fox Transfer and gentler-speed posts like my previous model from PNW It’s predictable and offers a crisp “clack” at top out You can vary the post’s return speed by feathering the lever if you like though I’m not sure what the advantage of that is the dropper needs to be fully down or fully up as quickly as possible That’s it.        Low stack height with the Resolve allowed me to run 180mm of travel on a bike that barely fit 170mm with my PNW post Long-legged riders will likely be elated to see the massive 242mm option More travel also means they can put more of the lower post in their frame which is always a factor for tall folks Existing Wolf Tooth Resolve dropper post owners can upgrade v1 posts to v2 using a $79.95 conversion kit available for purchase on the Wolf Tooth website While it didn’t dramatically improve performance this 567g post tested did drop 69g of weight from my bike and I appreciate that it returns a little faster If you’re in the market for a wicked solid-feeling dropper that’s adjustable and designed/assembled in the US this one should make the top-few list.    Enter your email for the top stories in mountain biking plus product picks and deals delivered to your inbox each week Thousands of firefighters are deployed as an all time record for acres burned – and it’s only August Now some worry about the long months ahead but it’s already shaping up to be a tough and Oregon has seen more fire than any year on record, with almost 1.5m acres (607,028 hectares) scorched in recent weeks as huge wildfires, primarily caused by lightning strikes, have exploded across the region. Nearly 70 major fires are burning across the US this week alone, primarily in Oregon, Idaho, Washington and California, according to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) “This season has been exceptionally difficult, especially because it started earlier than normal,” said Jessica Neujahr, a public affairs officer with the Oregon department of forestry “These conditions we saw in July are conditions we would normally see in August.” All this is putting a huge burden on resources including the firefighters tasked with keeping things under control with states having to call in backup from as far away as Hawaii and New Zealand the NIFC put the US at a preparedness level 5 meaning resources for fighting fires are heavily or fully committed The US has only reached that level in July four times in 20 years Oregon alone had 9,300 firefighters responding to fires A firefighter carries multiple rolls of hose to a spot fire along State Road 172 during the Park fire in Tehama County’s Mill Creek area of California on 7 August Photograph: Josh Edelson/AFP/Getty ImagesAfter a relatively quiet year in 2023 California’s fire season has also kicked off early the Park fire exploded into one of the state’s fastest-growing fires and the fourth largest Experts warn that acreage does not indicate how destructive a wildfire is but the measurement does offer insight into how quickly it has grown Improved weather in both states is expected to offer some relief but the NIFC forecasts that much of the west will face significant fire potential until the end of September officials and firefighters wait to see what’s in store “We’re about halfway through our season and it’s real busy and [we’re] getting the crew in that mental and physical mindset that we still have three months to go,” said Dan Mallia the superintendent of the Redding Hotshots specially trained firefighters with the US Forest Service who respond to wildfires endured a heatwave in July that dried out fuels The state also saw several lightning events that brought approximately 4,000 strikes on the landscape two years of above-average rain led to abundant grasses which were then cured in the extreme heat the state faced “Because we had this really abundant grass crop we saw these fires spread really early,” said Adrienne Freeman a public affairs officer with the US Forest Service based in California it was really heavy fuels conditions drying really quickly that have caused the rapid fire spread.” We’re getting the crew in that mental and physical mindset that we still have three months to goDan Mallia hotshot fire crew leaderIn northern California the Park fire saw explosive growth within hours after a man allegedly ignited the blaze by pushing his burning car down a ravine in a city park including rotating smoke plumes and fire vortexes Mallia and his crew spent several days on that fire and found that it frequently hamstrung the tactics they use to fight fires The ferocity of the fire meant that firefighters often had to “let [the fire] do its thing” and then “pick up the pieces after” particularly compared with the last few years where his hotshot crew was responding to the Willamette Complex fires “We have just been doing back-to-back assignments,” he said Three Reno firefighters battle a wildfire near Verdi Photograph: Reno Firefighters Association via APBetween the lightning fires in Oregon and blazes burning in northern California and the Great Basin region “It was putting a big-time strain on the system.” More than 5,000 personnel are still assigned to the Park fire The north-west region has been priority number one for resources Firefighters from Australia and New Zealand are in Washington and Oregon assisting with the blazes A jet with the National Interagency Fire Center traveled around the US picking up firefighters and bringing them to Oregon “Us alongside our partners have just been working super hard to get as many people as we can in the state,” Neujahr said The Redding Hotshots spent several days on the Park fire before heading to Oregon where they have been for nearly two weeks establishing fire lines to limit spread Their physically intensive workdays typically stretch nearly 12 hours said managing fatigue by making sure the crew gets at least seven hours of sleep a night and good nutrition are essential additional days off and improved mental health resources have gone a long way in helping firefighters’ wellbeing The culture has changed significantly in the 25 years Mallia has spent in the fire service “We’ve had a big-time culture change where it’s OK to take time off and share your feelings and how you’re doing Flames quickly grow as firefighters set a backfire on the eastern front of the Park fire near Chico Photograph: David McNew/Getty Images“We’re getting asked to do a lot more and with that it’s just gonna put stress on you this week and last week have brought more moderate weather that has allowed firefighters to try to get ahead of the fires “We’re definitely not out of the woods yet.” The state typically sees its peak fire season in September when the area’s east winds arrive, which can create explosive wildfires. East winds fueled the state’s highly destructive and deadly Labor Day fires in 2020 “We’re ready for basically the worst-case scenario The Redding Hotshots planned to soon head back home for three mandated days of rest “A lot of my non-fire friends will ask ‘how do you think fire season will be?’ I always say I’ll tell you in November.” The project was first built in Unreal Engine by Xavier Albert and the teams at Mathematic Studios and Ronin 161 They used a combination of custom designed assets as well as premade assets from Kitbash3D We then added textures and lighting into the scene prior to framing the shots showing how it looked before we'd aded textures and lighting prior to framing the shots The director worked remotely with Dane Armour to explore camera angles and craft shots that would be dynamic and interesting to see Once the shot was composed with the action we would then tweak the rest of the scene with lighting and further details to enhance the visuals I then took the existing virtual cameras that were created revised them to create the final shots that we then exported to EXR files from Unreal Engine Above you can see the shot in its final frame and then with revised lighting We set the export to Multilayer EXR image sequence using the default settings Then in the Deferred Rendering settings we made sure to Disable Multisample effects and enable Use 32bit Post Process Materials Make sure to also to enable both the default materials provided we added Object Ids (limited) in the Movie Render Queue export settings dropdown We also added the Game Override to ensure the highest LOD settings and to disable texture streaming we set the AntiAliasing method to None and we found setting Spatial Sample Count to 2 and Temporal Sample Count to 8 was sufficient for our needs Increased the Render Warm Up Count and Engine Warm UP Count to 64 to ensure any particles or in-engine effects render correctly Above you can see our render passes: WorldDepth Importing the image sequence to DaVinci Resolve [Studio] we need to correct for the Linear image provided by Unreal the image is too dark to be workable - this is normal since the image is Linear To correct for this there are several methods One option is to simply apply a LUT to the image Thankfully Resolve provides a handy option LUT - VFX IO - Linear to sRGB (or Linear to any preferred gamma setting) closer to what was shown in Unreal and useful for general editing this method is not ideal when working with MultiLayer EXRs Since it applies the LUT to the additional passes as well I knew this shot would be reworked in Fusion so I did not apply a LUT to the entire shot but instead applied a Color Space Transform node in Fusion to the main image and extracted the passes in separate nodes that did not go through the Color Space Transform preserving the correct information in the passes Using the MotionVector pass we add motion blur using the VectorMotionBlur node You’ll need to adjust/shift the VectorMotion red and green channels -0.5 since Unreal Motion Vectors are stored in the 0-1 coordinate space for X and Y We want to make no motion be 0 instead of 0.5 You can do this by shifting the red and green values down by merging a background node with the red and green channels set to -0.5 and ADDING it with a merge node (alpha gain = 0) This will allow the VectorMotionBlur node to read the blur correctly We then added depth of field blur using the Tilt-Shift Blur node Use the WorldDepth in the From Second Input You may need to shift/clamp the depth map to help reach the information correctly using the Cryptomatte plugin (via Reactor Script - free to download) we added additional glows or lighting effects to accent the knife Back in the DaVinci Resolve timeline we added a “cocktail” of effects that were applied to every shot in the film These included a few simple but effective lens artifacts and details Our Timeline FX cocktail looked like this: We used practically shot flares from the Kowa Anamorphic lenses that were done in pre-production and were added on top of the image using a simple Screen mode This helps add a realistic lens artifacts to the image and accent the glow of the blade The footage was shot by the production team Then the shot was incorporated in an online project that was sent to the senior colourist at CineGround to give it a more realistic and grounded look for the project Defining the experimental look of Second Tomorrow Studio's Unreal Engine-powered animated short film Creating the visual style of Babiru was a journey filled with experimentation, problem-solving, and a lot of collaboration. From the gritty textures to the cinematic glow, every shot went through a pipeline that combined Unreal Engine This tutorial breaks down how we approached one of the film’s key shots What’s cool about this process is how much it mirrors the collaborative energy of working on a physical set – just with digital tools we discovered practical ways to add texture and those little imperfections that make a scene feel alive If you’re curious about the tools or techniques we used, or you just want to see how a project like Babiru comes together, this breakdown will walk you through it all. election for its federal polls; this was better for the LNP than at the 2022 federal election State voting intentions were 54–46 to the LNP The Australian Bureau of Statistics reported that in the December 2024 quarter This was the slowest quarterly wage growth since March 2022 In the December quarter, inflation was up 0.2% and up 2.4% for the year to December So wage growth exceeded inflation Sunday’s German federal election for The Poll Bludger The election was held seven months early owing to a breakdown in the governing coalition of centre-left SPD Exit polls and pre-election polls have the conservative CDU/CSU leading with the far-right AfD in second place and the SPD lagging in third The final outcome should be known by this afternoon AEDT Free Tibet’s Advocacy Officer Tenzin Kunga explains the significance of the act and what must now be done by the new UK government President Biden signed into law the historic Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act This landmark legislation builds on the solid foundations laid by the Tibet Policy & Support Act of 2002 (strengthened in 2020) and the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act of 2018 lawmakers involved and welcoming this new law President of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) stated that this represented a significant step forward in solidifying the U.S stance on Tibet’s historical status and its commitment to a lasting negotiated solution to the Tibet-China conflict through nonviolent means based on international law The Resolve Tibet Act recognises the longstanding Tibet-China dispute as an unresolved international conflict and urges China to engage in meaningful and direct dialogue with His Holiness the Dalai Lama or his representatives as well as democratically elected leaders of the Tibetan community “without preconditions to seek a settlement that resolves differences” according to international law government to use funds to counter China’s disinformation on Tibet while affirming the Tibetan people’s right to self-determination Coming less than a week after Tibetans around the world celebrated the 89th birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama this news brought with it a renewed sense of joy and hope to all those advocating for the just cause of Tibet There was already much anticipation among the Tibetans about impending big news for Tibet when a bipartisan U.S Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and including long-time Tibet supporters like Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Representative Jim McGovern travelled to Dharamshala for an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama – during which they presented His Holiness with a framed copy of the Act on 19 June 2024 China had pressurised the delegation against embarking on this visit The Central Tibetan Administration organised a fitting felicitation ceremony in honour of the visiting delegation where the US lawmakers reiterated their continued strong support for Tibet I thank President Biden for signing the Act into law and more importantly all the US House Representatives and Senators for unanimously passing Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act and underlining unequivocally strong US support for Tibet and its people With the prolonged impasse in the Sino-Tibetan dialogue process this proactive US legislation provides the much-needed impetus to bring China to act rather than let the status quo continue China’s response to this was unsurprisingly quick and strong Its Foreign Ministry Spokesperson remarked that the new US law “grossly interfered in China’s domestic affairs and sent a severely wrong signal to the “Tibet independence” forces.” The Resolve Tibet Act represents a significant advancement for Tibet’s international advocacy I express my heartfelt thanks to all the Tibet advocates friendly Senators and Representatives in the US who worked at every stage to turn this idea into a bill and pushed for the bill to become law This remarkable success has demonstrated yet again the impact of all stakeholders working together in a coordinated strategic manner thereby laying down a blueprint for others to replicate I welcome the Labour’s pledge in their election manifesto to conduct a comprehensive audit of its China policy and its determination to hold to account those responsible for atrocities We need a government that goes beyond rhetoric and walks the talk who in the late 1990s provided his professional services pro bono as a human rights lawyer to Tibet Support Groups and individuals against the Metropolitan Police for their unlawful action in masking and preventing demonstrations against the Chinese President in his opening address at the plenary session of the European Political Community on 18 July PM Starmer remarked that the dignity of every human being is the very essence of what it is to be human and committed to protecting it Under the brutal occupation of the People’s Republic of China Tibetans inside Tibet are denied a life of human dignity UN experts have expressed alarm that close to a million Tibetan children are put into Chinese colonial residential schools to be assimilated into the majority Han culture I hope that PM Starmer will support the human dignity of all oppressed people like the Uyghurs It was under a previous Labour government that in October 2008 the UK changed its official policy on Tibet by giving the People’s Republic of China complete sovereignty over Tibet Advocating for a Tibet legislation similar to the Resolve Tibet Act provides us with an opportunity to work towards addressing this working with our allies will be pushing for this We understand that it is not going to be easy Our comparatively smaller Tibetan Community in Britain and our supporters need to punch way above our weight by engaging our youth and through strategic advocacy efforts to effect positive and meaningful change for Tibet some of our immediate advocacy goals include working towards re-establishing the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Tibet in the new parliament reaching out to the hundreds of new MPs to advocate for Tibet and enlist their support and getting a Westminster Hall debate to discuss China’s human rights abuses on ethnic nationalities and its citizens There have been some changes in the APPG Tibet and former members Sir Peter Bottomley and Marion Fellows for their support for Tibet and all they have done for the cause I have no doubt they will remain staunch friends of Tibet I also congratulate those returning members and offer a warm welcome to any new MPs who are willing to support the Tibetan cause we remain hopeful and committed to advocating for Tibet’s freedom and self-determination ensuring that the voices of the Tibetan people are heard and respected worldwide © Free Tibet 2025. You can contact Tim directly at editor@pcpro.co.uk July 13: The United States President Joe Biden signed the Resolve Tibet Act earlier today formally known as the “Promoting a Resolution to Tibet-China Dispute Act,” marks a milestone in the ongoing efforts to address the Tibet-China conflict The legislation aims to promote a peaceful resolution to the long-standing conflict between Tibet and China the “Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act” (the “Act”) I share the Congress’s bipartisan commitment to advancing the human rights of Tibetans and supporting efforts to preserve their distinct linguistic My Administration will continue to call on the People’s Republic of China to resume direct dialogue to seek a settlement that resolves differences and leads to a negotiated agreement on Tibet,” President Biden stated.  The bipartisan Promoting a Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act asserts that the ongoing conflict between Tibet and China remains unresolved and must be addressed in accordance with international law The bill challenges Beijing’s claim that Tibet has been part of China since ancient times and defines Tibet to include not only the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) but also the Tibetan areas in the provinces of Qinghai While the Chinese government typically refers to Tibet as the TAR alone Tibetans consider historical Tibet to encompass both the TAR and the additional areas defined in this bill The Chinese government formally established the TAR in 1965 the bill specifies that the Office of the U.S Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues will be responsible for ensuring that U.S government statements and documents counter disinformation spread by the Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party about Tibet including false narratives about Tibet’s history and institutions The bill also authorises the office to undertake additional actions to counter such disinformation The bill was introduced by Representatives Jim McGovern D-Mass., and Michael McCaul, R-Texas, along with Senators Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Todd Young, R-Ind. which was previously passed the House of Representatives on February 15 and the Senate on May 23 various grassroots organisations as well as numerous activists and supporters of Tibet have been actively lobbying for the bill’s passage.  Joe burden has added an unfortunate sentence which said ” it’s within my authority to decide upon nature territories” after emphasizing that ” both TAR ( utsang)and Tibetan areas of china ( khan and amdo) are part of china.” Tibetan govt and NGOs must write to Joe burden to withdraw that unnecessary sentence Disinformation and misinformation is a serious ethical matter in this age embraced by all kinds of entities such climate change deniers as well as climate change embracers Disinformation spread by USA president Joe Biden about Tibet being part of china is an act of evil But we Tibetans have to understand that lying doesn’t have the same moral repercussions as we do in Tibetan society we Tibetans have to accept that other people lie and deceive You can’t expect anyone else in the world to be as honest as you are – that’s delusional One day God will reward the kind and punish the evil We have a saying in Tibetan which goes like this: དང་པོ་དགའ་རུ་བཅུག་ མཇུག་ཏུ་ངུ་རུ་བཅུག་ (First make them happy and later make them cry) We assumed he would sign the Resolve Tibet Act and we would be very thankful and we would rejoice this milestone whatever was promised in the Resolve Tibet Act was contradicted by Biden’s letter that repeated the same tired and worn out US policy towards Tibet It was like pouring cold water into the fire his words are not part of the law but still it diluted the rather promising Tibet Act that gave joy to many thousands of Tibetans Biden lived to his reputation as Beijing Biden by smothering all the positive sound bites of the Tibet Resolve Act and brought it back to square one Joe Biden was obviously responding to the CCP’s statement which said “we urge the US side adhere to its commitment of recognising Tibet as part of China and not supporting Tibetan independence China will take resolute measures to firmly defend its sovereignty Biden is a friend of the Chinese dictator Xi for a long time demonstrates his hesitation and he had been discussing it after the Chinese protest both officially and perhaps through his son who had been visiting his him at the White House the US endorsed Chinese claims over Tibet during the time of Republican China who were allies against Japan in the second world War The Kuomintang wolves prevailed in preventing the Tibetan delegation led by Shakabpa from meeting the then US President Truman during their visit to the US Tibet was caught in the machinations of imperialist China and US caved in to Chinese fabricated claims over Tibet because they knew no better and Republican China was its ally Tibetan independence was FULL DISPLAY WHEN TIBET REFUSED AMERICAN ARMS TO BE TRANSPORTED TO CHINA THROUGH TIBETAN TERRITORY AND THE AMERICANS HAD TO TRANSPORT THEM BY PLANE TO KUNMING THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IRREFUTABLE TESTAMENT OF TIBETAN INDEPENDENCE Tibet refused American weapons and munitions to be transported through Tibet to China because it wanted to remain neutral in the war between Japan on one side and the US and Republican China on the other This clearly proves that Tibet was in full control of its territory and brooked no interference from any quarter Tibet was used as a football by the Chinese British and Russian imperialists for their “great game” in Asia and Joe Biden seems to be following the same imperialist footsteps of a by gone age and keep Tibet enslaved by communist China If Tibet was “historically part of China” where is the need for American and Indian recognition as “part of China” Does China need American and Indian recognition of Shanghai as part of China This alone demonstrate that TIBET WAS NEVER PART OF CHINA IT IS CLEARLY DEPICTED BY THE BORDER BETWEEN TIBET AND INDIA AS THE INDO- TIBET BORDER UNTIL CHINA ILLEGALLY AND FORCIBLY OCCUPIED TIBET IN 1949/50!! That is why it is seeking recognition from foreign countries to to gain legitimacy for its illegal occupation The Tibetan people are extremely grateful to the people of America and the Democratic Party snd Republican Party and their Tibet supporters for their bipartisan support for REJECTING Chinese communist propaganda about “historical claims” over Tibet and the recognition of the Tibetan people’s RIGHT TO SELF-DETERMINATION It is hoped that American leaders support the aspirations of the PEOPLE OF TIBET rather than the fabricated claims of a imperialist totalitarian regime Subscribe!function(m,a,i,l,s,t,e,r){m[s]=m[s]||(function(){t=a.createElement(i);r=a.getElementsByTagName(i)[0];t.async=1;t.src=l;r.parentNode.insertBefore(t,r);return !0}())}(window,document,'script','https://tibet.net/wp-content/plugins/mailster/assets/js/button.min.js','MailsterSubscribe'); or the Timorese whose independence vote was supported by America until Indonesia launched a killing spree In other situations, such as its support of Bosniaks and Kosovars against the genocidal policies of Serb nationalists America’s interventions have prevailed precisely because it was prepared to respond militarily once threats turned to violence If the US wants to shield Tibetans against Chinese encroachments it must back its course with tangible actions offering sustained aid and security guarantees America should refrain from presenting a lackluster bill that will only serve to provoke an unpredictable backlash it is not prepared to rise to America’s current support for Tibet materializes mostly through the work of local focusing on cultural and sustainability issues without appearing to undermine China’s sovereignty But such accords are likely to falter if challenged when America’s inevitable abandonment of Tibet reveals the limitations of its support is already at its own crossroads - attempting to balance relations with both superpowers while embroiled in a legal dispute could upend its fragile relationship with the US and push it right into the arms of Beijing Currently, Malaysia is locked in a fierce lawsuit with the supposed heirs of the defunct Philippines-based Sultanate of Sulu, who have lodged a $15bn claim over the oil-rich Sabah province based on a colonial-era treaty signed in the 19th Century Initially, it was handled by a Spanish arbitrator, Dr. Gonzalo Stampa. He ruled in favor of the Sulu plaintiffs, granting them the $15bn award that allowed Malaysia’s sovereign assets – through its state-owned oil and gas company, Petronas, to be seized But with tensions running high and the potential involvement of Silicon Valley firms and hedge funds eager for a return on their investments, Malaysia is justifiably sceptical that an American court will provide a fair ruling Malaysia has still been able to rely on the US for support against China thanks to security agreements that go far deeper than the empty words of its Tibetan strategy But this web of conflicting interests undermines America’s strategic priorities potentially damaging its standing with the Malaysian Government and laying bare its limited resolve to follow through with its limp call-to-arms on Tibet Lastly, third party litigation funding must be regulated by understanding it as a potential national security problem, and strengthening current US legislative efforts to rein in the influence and interests of billionaire corporations and while concrete guarantees remain to be seen China could be emboldened to send new generations of Tibetan dissidents to their early graves Saman Rizwan is UK-based analyst on South Asian affairs She has a Masters in International Relations from S Rajaratnam School of International Studies As a journalist and commentator she writes frequently on international politics for publications like South China Morning Post She is a former researcher at the Centre for Strategic and Contemporary Research Photo by ZHANQUN CAI Copyright © GlobalPolicyJournal 2025. All rights reserved. We are also a source of many critical minerals The Trump tariffs are supposedly to force the highly-integrated auto and defense industries to relocate to cities entirely within the U.S Few companies would have the funds or wish to invest in these times of extreme uncertainty Americans face an increased need to replace houses Most premiers (including Susan Holt) have proposed a variant of Energy East to provide us with energy security and access to European markets Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre would also repeal the unconstitutional Bill C-69 and proposed a “national energy corridor” to expedite approval of pipelines Energy East was to be a 4,600 km long pipeline from Hardisty It would have conveyed 1.1 million barrels of oil per day in 2016 indicated he would support the pipeline if the province received royalties he plus other Quebec politicians opposed this Americans in “red states” voted for Republicans that promised a drop in prices but they will rise markedly due to the Trump tariffs. Canadians may also experience a “buyer’s remorse” if they give the Liberals a fourth term. They should not be distracted by Carney’s impressive resume. After all, most of his fellow cabinet ministers and his policies remain unchanged after a decade of poor utilization of our vast underground resources. He has also failed to provide us relief from most tariffs. Canadians are uniting against an increasingly dictatorial American government. This is vital if the French language and culture are to be preserved. Francophones are 82 per cent of the Quebec and 30 percent of the New Brunswick population. Recall that Donald Trump recently signed an executive order designating English as the only official language of the United States. As Poilievre has noted, Trump underestimates the resolve of all Canadians to make use of its abundant resources, market them outside of the U.S., and continue to remain free politically and become more independent economically. that demands policymakers’ attention titled “The Perception of Israeli Society as Sensitive to Casualties and Its Impact on the IDF’s Ability to Win,” examines the Israeli public’s attitudes towards military casualties across various conflicts Her findings are both illuminating and strategically significant Contrary to the prevailing wisdom among Israel’s decision-makers the Israeli public has consistently demonstrated resilience and willingness to endure losses when they perceive the cause as just and necessary for national security This misperception of public sentiment has had far-reaching consequences on Israel’s military doctrine It has led to an over-reliance on air power and standoff weapons often at the expense of decisive ground maneuvers The result has been a series of inconclusive conflicts particularly evident in the Lebanon War of 2006 and successive operations in Gaza ultimately led to frustration due to their indecisive outcomes rather than the number of casualties incurred Shuker’s analysis reveals a crucial insight: Israeli public support for military operations is more closely tied to perceived achievements than to casualty figures When the public sees tangible progress toward stated objectives serve as a stark inflection point in this narrative The Hamas attack has galvanized Israeli public opinion generating widespread support for a more assertive military approach This shift challenges long-held assumptions about Israeli society’s tolerance for conflict-related losses and demands a reevaluation of Israel’s strategic posture Israel’s political and military leadership must recalibrate their understanding of public sentiment The Israeli populace has repeatedly demonstrated its readiness to bear the burdens of conflict when the existential nature of the threat is clear This resilience provides Israel with strategic flexibility that has been underutilized because of misplaced concerns about public backlash it is an appeal for a more balanced approach that weighs the necessity of decisive military action against the genuine The public’s willingness to accept losses must be met with clear achievable objectives and transparent communication about the progress of military operations Shuker’s work provides a crucial corrective to a long-standing misconception in Israeli strategic thinking As Israel continues to face existential threats in a volatile region it is imperative that its leaders accurately gauge the resolve of their citizenry The myth of hypersensitivity to casualties must be discarded in favor of a more nuanced understanding of public sentiment Only then can Israel fully leverage the strategic depth provided by its resilient and determined populace The lessons drawn from this research should not only inform Israel’s immediate approach to the ongoing conflict in Gaza but also shape its long-term strategic doctrine Israel can more effectively balance the imperative of protecting its soldiers with the necessity of achieving decisive outcomes in future conflicts The strength of Israeli society lies not in avoiding all risks but in its unwavering commitment to national survival in the face of ongoing threats © 2025 Middle East Forum • E-mail: info@meforum.org • Tel: 1 (215) 546-5406 Should the corrupt in government continue to reign with Mohammad Yunus as an interim figurehead a new government could be dominated by Razakars and BNP elements who are extremists They were silent about their own actions during 1941-45 and only a few were identified and found guilty by the Allies of participating in the Nazi mass murder of Russians Jews and Roma that took place during World War II Given the extent of participation of Ukrainian participants of the 1941-45 genocide very few were ever held to account for their crimes given the extent of participation of various nationalities in the genocide committed in the Soviet Union Czechoslovakia and other countries during 1941-45 only a handful were held accountable after the war Many of the rest (including citizens of Czechoslovakia) built prosperous careers in different countries after the war As for the genocide committed in 1971 by the Razakars and the Pakistan Army It is from the reaction of the descendants of the Razakars that the impetus came for holding a mass movement against the 10% (later reduced to 5%) quota in government jobs for the descendants of those who opposed the genocide in Bangladesh As few Bangladeshis had actually joined the Mukti Bahini the quota was unpopular within the entire student community The students formed an “anti-discrimination” protest against the quotas that were announced by Sheikh Hasina in July Overreaction by the police and subsequently the military led to anger within the student community that was taken advantage of by Razakar elements and a banned organisation that was still active and which Sheikh Hasina unwisely had sought to covertly cultivate in her third term as Prime Minister Leniency by Sheikh Hasina caused such extremists to regroup and become large enough to soon assume leadership over the anti-quota student agitation Razakar elements took control of the anti-Quota protests murder and other acts of violence of what had initially been a peaceful protest Again the military and the police used extreme force on the demonstrators although many more non-students from Razakar backgrounds the leniency shown by Sheikh Hasina to them ensured that they had become stronger and more organised Such a truism was ignored by Sheikh Hasina in her third term Fear and anger that she was trying to make Bangladesh a dynasty-run country were on display during the riots which eventually forced Hasina to flee from Bangladesh at 45 minutes’ notice which was given by an army that had its own share of extremists including from Razakar families who in 1971 killed innocent Bangladeshis Such was the consequence of Hasina softening her stance against Razakar families This was in contrast to the strict accountability that was placed on them during her first and most of her second term By softening her stance against them during her third term Hasina sowed the seeds of genocide directed against moderate Awami League descendants of freedom fighters and Hindu minorities Many of them were tortured and hanged after the police and the military retreated to their barracks after Hasina went into exile Bangladesh is headed for a continuation of the genocide just witnessed Such a situation would cause unrest within the rest of the population which would be put down with extreme violence by the uniformed services The 1971 Liberation of Bangladesh would get reversed and be replaced by another genocide similar to what took place before Liberation in 1971 Bangladesh would join Pakistan and Afghanistan as terror hubs Sheikh Hasina through her corruption allowed the free flow of extremists into the uniformed forces who got riddled with such elements as a consequence If the democracies are to be rescued from the effects of a situation where freedom fighters Hindus and moderate and patriotic Muslim elements in the Bangladesh population become the principal target of mob attack a new Liberation War may need to take place liberate Bangladesh from extremists who would convert the country into another Afghanistan Such a war would need to involve not just India but the US and other major countries as well If the democracies shy away from another Liberation War Bangladesh would go the way of Afghanistan where Pakistan and China ensured that the Taliban returned to power in 2021 after President Biden abandoned Afghanistan to the Taliban Extremist associates will once again make Bangladesh a terror sanctuary which if tolerated would in brief years hit the US and the EU © SUNDAY GUARDIAN LIVE 2025 | DIRECT NEWS PRIVATE LIMITED | ALL RIGHTS RESERVED I would assume it will be the best performing – up & down optimized around the longer 242mm size and if I were going to run a dropper post over 200mm it would unquestionably be paired with a 34.9 seat tube *{Total number of additional ‘O’s to be longer post I tend to find myself faffing about with a higher-than-slammed position which is never as inspiring as the clear knock of a fully bottomed saddle With the number of fantastic dropper posts on the market in 30.9mm and 31.6mm diameters from PNW’s budget friendliest options to fully serviceable posts from BikeYoke 34.9mm posts add weight and nothing else to my experience so to achieve my want to note here that despite hundreds of hours of riding and this being my second full rebuild I have not changed any components except the dropper post fluid The seals and bushings are still feeling fresh after a clean and lube *{I could have just rinsed out the air filter 8Gallery8 ImagesThe Best ‘Next Generation’ ProductsPersonal outlook dependent, we have reached a magical or maniacal time in mountain biking It is no longer that standard case of ‘what’s old is new again’ but rather what is new is new again great four years ago and service it to fresh and that bike is comparatively great today still working to market the latest and greatest but the true testament of a great bike or product is how little it changes from one generation to the next I understand why ‘new’ is necessary to sell products but we have reached a point of maturity where assuming both products are factory fresh I would choose previous-generation products I would rather have a new 2019 Santa Cruz Tallboy than a 2024 I would choose to unbox an 11-speed XX1 drivetrain rather than a 12-speed Eagle 6Gallery6 ImagesIn this sense the Res2 Resolve is a perfect ‘next generation’ product It keeps the excellent self-bleeding function where the cartridge is constantly bleeding any air bypass simply by cycling the post but the cartridge should go much longer between services thanks to the new oil It shares almost all the same chassis components other than a colour-changed actuator and For myself, running a <200mm dropper post the most notable change between Res2 and my well-used but well-serviced Res1 is the new internal spool valve that reduces activation force at the remote by a claimed 25%. My Rev1, combined with a Wolf Tooth ReMote Pro actuator is plenty of light action for me but there are two things to consider with the reduced force Folks chasing the lightest possible action without going to an electronically activated post, like a Reverb AXS, are going to certainly appreciate the reduction in thumb effort running my setup with Res2. Folks, like me, who do not desire a lighter action can combine Res2 with a shorter-throw actuator, like Wolf Tooth’s original Non-Light-Action ReMote for more positive activation. 2Gallery2 Images160mm vs 170mmI was perfectly content with my Resolve Res1 in 170mm but I did have a thought with Res2 coming out that it would be interesting to test the 160mm version on the same bike The 160mm has a significantly shorter insertion depth compared to my 200mm-lowered-to-170mm and it is lighter weight in a world where we are talking about the difference between my 170mm dropper and someone choosing to run a 242mm dropper It turns out that 170mm is exactly the perfect amount of drop for my hardtail and any more than 185mm and I want to lower it to 170mm there are trails where I am not happy being shorter than 170mm The 160mm dropper that was previously on this bike had to be slammed to the seal head The WTC post delivers smooth action & fitment options for shorter riders.  I aspire to review a modern XC bike in the future where this 160mm Res2 will be perfect when lowered to 150mm at 160mm on her bike and I am still adding up the hours on Res1 The decrease in required insertion depth compared to her previous 160mm post is massive and even then the WTC Resolve post must be extended a couple of centimetres higher to match her climbing height If Wolf Tooth added a dedicated 180mm dropper post I do not think it would work on a full suspension bike it is crazy to think a five-foot-tall rider could rock a 180mm dropper Wolf Tooth does not claim to make the shortest dropper post by insertion depth or stack but with their unique saddle-clamp details and a focus on keeping things as short as possible With routine service and WTC's small parts support it is believable to me that the Resolve could be a 'forever post' and My Resolve Rev1 has been through it and post-service it is as smooth and certain (bottom-out and top-out) as it was when fresh This is evidenced by just how similar the performance is to the Res2 I have been playing with Since the new dropper post fluid was a running change I would pick up one of the remaining Rev1 posts at the discounted price of US$280 rather than spend the extra 20% on the Res2 It is nice to see that the launch of Res2 was not accompanied by a price increase over Rev1 all the small parts available thanks to WTC’s ‘Right To Repair’ policy some of the shortest insertion depths & stack heights amongst the lightest droppers on the market by travel low-lifetime cost of ownership (amortize your life) and the addition of a 242mm length and 34.9mm diameter The Resolve dropper post continues to be an awesome option for folks interested in making a long-term investment in an excellent post that’s built in Minnesota They are reasonably straightforward to service at home thanks to WTC’s excellent resources your competent local bike shop would be happy to service them as well For more information, please check out the updated WTC Resolve page featuring Revision 2.  Please enable JS and disable any ad blocker The NEMO Resolve 35 L Endless Promise If you spend a lot of time on the trails, then you know the difference good gear can make. After hiking boots or shoes your hiking backpack is arguably your most important piece of gear and anything else you might need for a day on the trail Although a cheap backpack will get the job done on short hikes hiking backpacks have technical features that allow them to be lightweight And don’t forget to check out the rest of our Best Hiking Backpacks to see if another option suits you better In terms of color selection, the options for the NEMO Resolve are limited there’s a yellow and a purple option I opted for the yellow and in person it looks like a muted highlighter yellow If given more choices I would have selected something else but it’s fun and I had no doubt it would be easy to spot on the trail (which is a good thing in my book) I was impressed with the design of the NEMO Resolve The back panel is extremely cushioned and supportive The backpack has two external water bottle holders and an assortment of smaller pockets and attachment points On paper and in person the NEMO Resolve seemed like everything I could want in a hiking backpack but there was only one real way to find out: It was time to hit the trail Smiles for miles when wearing the Nemo Resolve the Nemo Resolve is made as sustainably as possible Designed to remain in use for as long as possible the Resolve was created to be incredibly durable and repairable When the Resolve does reach the end of its life NEMO has created it to be fully recyclable to ensure it never reaches a landfill The Resolve sports NEMO’s signature CERO fabric has a tear strength up to three times higher than the industry standard and is also up to 20 times more water-resistant than other packs on the market The backpack is also made from recycled PET Although I can’t speak to those specific stats I can vouch that the Resolve is insanely durable and reliably waterproof The Resolve is fully adjustable I live on Oahu in Hawaii where it is hot and humid and rain showers are a frequent encounter on hikes The cushioning on the back of the pack is strategically placed so that it’s simultaneously supportive and breathable The cushioning is made from recycled materials and is 97% air which helps it to wick away sweat and keep you dry I’m not in the know about the science behind the cushioning but I will say that my back felt significantly drier and cooler than it typically does while hiking with a backpack The cushioning is also on the back panel as well as the shoulder straps and waistband The Resolve is designed to be a one size fits all pack and as such I’d recommend spending some time at home getting it fitted before hitting the trail — I didn’t and had much more success on my second go with the pack once I had it properly fitted The padded waist strap paired with the sternum strap allows for a comfortable It’s nearly impossible to go on a hike in Hawaii without getting sprinkled on. While I’ve always had a rain cover for my backpacking backpacks I’ve never had a waterproof day pack which is a game changer for when the temperatures drop and your fleece is still cozy The adjustable water bottle pockets are a game changer Another perk of the Resolve is that it has two external water bottle holders I really appreciate when a pack has water bottle holders but to make matters even better so you can accommodate both slim and large bottles The pack also has a zippered security pocket on top and multiple attachment points for clipping gear to the outside of the backpack The Resolve comes in multiple size options: 15 L I tested the 35 L pack and found it to be plenty spacious for a long day hike The Resolve also comes in both men’s and women’s styles which helps for a more secure and tailored fit The zippered security pocket is hidden but a tad difficult to access while on the move There’s not a lot to complain about when it comes to the Resolve but there are a few small details that I hope NEMO improves upon in the future As I mentioned in my first impression of the backpack It’s not a huge deal and most of my hiking backpacks end up tinted brown thanks to the rich Hawaiian mud but it would be nice to have a few more options while I didn’t experience overheating some testers have noted that the back panel lacks breathability in truly hot temperatures Another small issue I have with the pack is the zippered security pocket which I guess is nice if you’re stowing your wallet or valuables in it but it’s a bit difficult to access while on the move I typically use my top zippered pocket for quick grab items like my cell phone and chapstick so I prefer it to be incredibly easy to access The pack does have small pockets on the straps that you could use instead to stash small essentials Sustainable, breathable, and durable, the NEMO Resolve is a winner The NEMO Resolve is an incredible hiking backpack Not only is it sustainably made and fully recyclable at the end of its life Available in three different sizes in both men’s and women’s sizes so it’s easy to find the perfect size and fit regardless of your body shape and size Editor’s Note: Check out the rest of our picks for Best Hiking Backpacks. Resolution to the Tibet-China Dispute Act’’ that bolsters America’s Tibet policy through further amendments of the Tibetan Policy Act of 2002 and aims to facilitate the resolution of the longstanding conflict between Tibet and China the act seeks to foster substantive dialogue without preconditions between the PRC government and the Dalai Lama or democratically elected leaders of the Tibetan community or explore activities to improve prospects for dialogue that leads to a negotiated agreement on Tibet it endeavours to collaborate with other nations to achieve a negotiated settlement concerning Tibet The act asserts that officials of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party are historically inaccurate in claiming that Tibet has been part of China since ancient times The act further specifies that the United States’ public diplomacy initiatives should actively combat disinformation propagated by the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party concerning Tibet including falsehoods about the historical background of Tibet including those associated with the Dalai Lama This pivotal act restrengthening America’s policy on Tibet follows other significant acts such as the Tibetan Policy and Support Act of 2019 and the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act of 2018 on the occasion of the 65th Tibetan Uprising Day a resolution was introduced in the Congress in a show of bipartisan solidarity reaffirming support for the Tibetan people amidst ongoing human rights violations perpetrated by the Chinese government in Tibet The sponsors of the bills in the house were Rep Michael McCaul (R-TX) and the cosponsors in house include  Rep Todd (R-IN) sponsored the Resolve Tibet Bill in Senate and the co-sponsors include Sen My administration will continue to call on the People’s Republic of China to resume direct dialogue to seek a settlement that resolves differences and leads to a negotiated agreement on Tibet.” Quotes from Congress members on the bill:  Representative Jim McGovern: The United States has never accepted that Tibet was part of China since ancient times This legislation clarifies US policy and highlights the unique language It directs US diplomacy to push back against CCP propaganda it ensures Tibetans have a say in their own future This bill stresses the need for dialogue between the CCP and other democratically elected leaders of Tibet Any resolution must include the wishes and voice of the Tibetan people… Passing this bill demonstrates America’s resolve that the CCP’s status quo in Tibet is not acceptable and I can think of no greater message or gift to the Dalai Lama and the people of Tibet than the swift passage of  this bill to get to the president’s desk as soon as possible to help put the people of Tibet in charge of their own future.” Representative Michael McCaul: “Our bipartisan bill will refresh U.S policy towards Tibet and push for negotiations that advance freedom for the Tibetan people and a peaceful resolution to the CCP’s conflict with the Dalai Lama,” said Young “Congressional passage of this legislation further demonstrates America’s resolve that the CCP’s status quo – both in Tibet and elsewhere – is not acceptable I look forward to this important effort becoming law and working with my colleagues in the Senate and with the Administration to ensure swift and effective implementation.”   “Let the overwhelming passage of our strong bipartisan bill be a clear message to the Tibetan people: America stands with you on the side of human dignity and we support you in your quest to secure the basic rights to which you are entitled under international law,” said McGovern Ranking Member of the House Rules Committee and a member of the Congressional-Executive Commission on China “The People’s Republic of China has systematically denied Tibetans the right to self-determination and continues to deliberately erase Tibetan religion The ongoing oppression of the Tibetan people is a grave tragedy and our bill provides further tools that empower both America and the international community to stand up for justice and peace.” have the right to religious freedom – which includes freedom from CCP surveillance and detention,” said House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman McCaul “If the CCP truly does respect ‘sovereignty’ as it claims to do then it will engage in peaceful dialogue with the Tibetans to resolve this conflict not force the Tibetans to accept a CCP proposal Passing this bipartisan bill demonstrates America’s resolve that the CCP’s status quo in Tibet is not acceptable.” said: “A vote for this bill is a vote to recognize the rights of the Tibetan people And it is a vote to insist on resolving the dispute between Tibet and the People’s Republic of China peacefully said: “This bill ensures that Tibetans have a say in their own future It stresses the need for a direct dialogue between the CCP and the democratically elected leaders of Tibet and that any resolution must be peaceful and include the voice of the Tibetan people Tibetans are democracy-loving people who wish to freely practice their religion and have their distinct identity acknowledged and respected I’m proud to play a small part in supporting this dream for the Tibetan people.” said: “Since 2010 Beijing has also refused to meet its international obligations to engage the Dalai Lama and his representatives to resolve the Tibet issue through dialogue At the same time Beijing has unleashed a disinformation campaign to mislead the world about Tibet and its history which calls the PRC out for its repression and its unwillingness to engage the Tibetan people.” said: “Amid these threats to Tibetans in Tibet the Chinese Communist Party also seeks to extend its repressive reach abroad targeting for surveillance and harassment Tibetan diaspora communities in the United States The Chinese Communist Party has long engaged in crimes against humanity in Tibet and against Tibetans Sikyong Penpa Tsering extending his heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Tibetans to everyone involved in this historic landmark when addressing media in Sumdho who is currently on an official visit to Tibetan nomadic settlements in Jangthang (Ladakh) addressed the media this morning from Jangthang Sumdho to extend his heartfelt gratitude to all the people involved in introducing and translating the Resolve Tibet Act into the law of United States I was woken up with this good news that President Joe Biden has signed the Resolve Tibet Act into law this morning which is 13th of July in India and 12th of July in the United States I want to take this opportunity to thank President Joe Biden for signing this into law and also want to thank Congressman McCaul and Congressman Jim McGovern for moving this into the House and getting it through the House I also want to thank Senator Todd Young from the Republican side and Senator Jeff Merkley from the Democrats side and also the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee for all their support in getting it through the Senate Committee and also the Senate floor with unanimity This is a shift in US policy on Tibet and how to resolve the Sino-Tibet conflict or dispute The law is important for us in the sense that the US is the only country that has a law on Tibet since 2002 that has been amended through the US Tibet Support and Policy Act of 2020 there was also another law that was passed called the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act (RATA) and it is very important politically for us because this Act or the law talks about Tibet being an unresolved issue if the Sino-Tibet dispute needs to be resolved then it has to be resolved under international law The law also talks about the Tibetan people’s right to self-determination The law also talks about not accepting China’s propaganda or China’s assertion that Tibet has been part of China since ancient times which the United States does not recognise This particular provision talks about countering China’s false information or false narrative on Tibetan history The last part of this Act also talks about the territory of Tibet which does not restrict only the Tibet Autonomous Region the law says that not only the Tibet Autonomous Region but regions outside the Tibet Autonomous Region Now we have to start working with a lot of other like-minded countries alongside the U.S government to convince them to take similar positions that the U.S I know for a fact that some of the people are quite worried or concerned about part of the statement that came out of the White House after President Biden signed it into a law that mentions about the United States’ stated position of Tibet Autonomous Region and other parts of Tibet being part of China because the law is mainly to talk about the historical status of Tibet as an independent state there is a lot of tension between U.S.-China relations So we have to take all those into consideration as well when we work internationally A lot of people have put in a lot of effort It’s not only the congressmen and women who supported the bill both from the Democrats and the Republican side There has been a lot of effort also from our side in the form of the strategy that came out of the CTA since April 2022 And this has been in the works for the last two years and two months The leadership in the Office of Tibet and the Department of Information and International Relations have been very inspiring Representative Namgyal Choedup has played a key role in this The leadership in the international campaign for Tibet he has made it a point to come with us and lobby at the Hill every time One time he was physically not able to join us And I want to thank Richard la for all your support and help and guidance in pushing this bill forward And the leadership in the ICT led by President Tenchoe la very hard to get this through over the last two years and two months the young Tibetans who have been to Washington over many years and particularly this year on March 11th and 12th there were more than 200 Tibetans lobbying at the Hill And there have been a lot of Tibet supporters who have written to leaders to support this bill And the Tibetan communities have also played a very important role we know that if we put in all our energy for a positive direction And credit goes to every single one of us who have worked on this And let this be a lesson in how we should work together to push our cause It means a lot to the Tibetans inside and outside And we have to work on the momentum that we have already built And everyone knows that all of this is happening because of the blessing of His Holiness the Dalai Lama I want to thank His Holiness also for his swift recovery I want to inform you that His Holiness since yesterday has been starting to walk independently on his own without support And I want to thank every Tibetan and non-Tibetan who have prayed for His Holiness’ recovery we should continue to pray for His speedy recovery And that will help the long-term sustainability of the Tibetan movement Bitter Winter A magazine on religious liberty and human rights 07/17/2024 A+ | A- It also states that the problem of Tibet should be solved through international dialogue from which China cannot exclude the Dalai Lama and his representatives the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) held a symposium “strongly condemning” the Act the Director of the Nationalities and Religious Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and attended by Deputy Directors Jiang Jianguo Yan Jue and more than twenty CPPCC National Committee members sixteen members of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee representatives of the ethnic minority communities The leaders of the government-controlled Buddhist and the Tibetan people are members of the Chinese nation This will never change and cannot change at any time… The US and the Dalai Lama group have willfully distorted history and openly denied the objective fact that Tibet’s sovereignty belongs to China which has greatly hurt the feelings of all Chinese people This is a typical American bullying behavior.” 党が統制する中国反邪教協会は声明を発表し、「反共産主義」の教会に対する決定を祝福するとともに、海外でも同様の運動が広がることを期待している。 Bonhams posts in town. With the new Resolve rev2 dropper, Wolf Tooth Components claims to take the crown at 242mm of travel – just 2mm more than the OneUp V2 there are notable improvements to the Resolve rev2 that will make it desirable for more than just the tallest riders out on the trail the WTC Resolve topped out at 200mm of travel it still offers adjustable travel like all other Resolve droppers Internally adjustable at home in 5mm increments the only limit to travel adjustability is the total amount of travel so you could theoretically buy a 242mm dropper and adjust it down to a very short travel if you wanted to you may not be able to fit a full 242mm travel on your bike you can still end up with a longer travel than 200mm The 242mm size is added to the existing sizes of 125 all of which can be adjusted to smaller travel numbers you might not need to adjust that travel down even if you’re running a shorter travel dropper post currently Thanks to one of the shortest stack heights and insertion depths on the market you’ll likely be able to fit more travel in your existing frame WTC is also offering a larger diameter with a new 34.9mm dropper post WTC states that this post has been designed from the ground up for the larger size including a specific cartridge That’s important because it means that WTC was able to make full use of the increased space to create a more robust dropper rather than just reusing existing parts and ending up with a product that could be better in theory The 34.9mm post is added to the existing 30.9 and 31.6mm sizes Even if you’re not on the monster 242mm post or 34.9mm diameter you’ll still benefit from the rev2 updates all rev2 posts get internal updates to improve functionality The Resolve is a unique post in that it self-bleeds every time you cycle it that self-bleeding function has been improved the droppers get new spool valves which result in a 25% reduction in the amount of force at the lever to activate the post both these updates are compatible with existing Resolve dropper posts in 125 and 200mm travel so if your post ever needs service On our scale, this 160mm travel 31.6mm post weighs in at 510g – which is 2g less than the Rev1 but it’s nice to see the post has been improved without adding any weight the Resolve rev2 is mostly unchanged with a zero-degree offset head with a simple two-bolt adjustment I was happy to see that the low-profile air cap was much easier to remove this time by hand the post ships in cardboard packaging with a cable and housing kit including the small cable anchor needed for the post rev2 runs the cable head at the end of the post just with the cable head inserted into the cable anchor Note that it does not include a ReMote lever The new Resolve Dropper Post rev2 is available now at WolfToothComponents.com and all stocking dealers and distributors with pricing starting at $349.95 The existing Resolve Dropper Post rev1 has a new lower price that starts at $279.95 Existing rev1 customers can purchase a rev2 conversion kit for $79.95 I’ve had one of the new rev2 posts for a few weeks now I’m not tall and don’t have a bike with a 34.9mm seat post so I went with a 160mm post with a 31.6mm diameter I was previously running a 125mm travel e*13 dropper post – with zero room to spare I knew I could fit a longer dropper travel with the Resolve but I figured I might have to use a 5mm travel reducer or two I was incredibly pleased to find that I could fit the entire 160mm travel post even with the curved seat tube on the Hayduke There’s no question that the Resolve or Resolve rev2 will allow you to run the maximum amount of travel on your frame which makes it perfect for shorter riders After setting it up with a WTC ReMote Pro I didn’t notice much of a difference in feel between rev2 and the original I did do some back-to-back comparisons between the two versions and rev2 does feel a bit easier to actuate (but I haven’t done testing with the same exact dropper lever and new cable and housing on each) That’s still great news since the original Resolve was already one of my favorite dropper posts I have gotten used to the ease of operation of the Resolve and it wasn’t until a recent review bike with another dropper brand reminded me that very few dropper/lever combos are as silky smooth as those from WTC that original Resolve dropper post on my bike still feels as good as it did on day one outright durability is one of the most important factors when choosing a dropper post but it helps when something like the Resolve rev2 has so many other things
