ABC NewsDutch say Pisa no longer Europe's most leaning towerShare Dutch say Pisa no longer Europe's most leaning towerTopic:Human Interest

Link copiedShareShare articleThe Tower of Pisa is being challenged by a lesser-known 12th Century building, in the northern Dutch town of Bedum, as Europe's most steeply leaning tower.
Retired geometrician Jacob van Dijk said measurements this week on Bedum's 36-metre church tower of Walfridus revealed it is now leaning more than its Italian rival, which lost part of its tilt following restoration works.
At a height of 55.86 metres, Pisa's tower leans about 4 metres, while Bedum's tower leans 2.61 metres at a height of 35.7 metres.
If both towers were the same height, Bedum would have a greater tilt of 6 cm, Mr Van Dijk argues.
"In Italy they're happy with the result, but here in Bedum we are much more happy, because the tower of Pisa is now leaning less than the tower of Bedum," Mr Van Dijk said.

Manufactured in the Netherlands, Deminal 90 Organic is a new organic version of the company’s existung demineralized whey product. As a component of infant milk formula, the company said it enables manufacturers to achieve the ideal casein:whey ratio while also limiting mineral content.
Deminal 90 Organic is made of milk from the company’s group of organic dairy farmers.
Research exclusive to FrieslandCampina Ingredients reveals three in four parents now consider organic an important criterion when purchasing formula for their young children. In China, the figure exceeds 90%. This explains Euromonitor’s prediction the segment will grow by a CAGR of 15% in the five years from 2020, reaching a value of €5.4bn ($6.6bn) by 2025.
“The organic trend has been growing steadily for years and is now booming as more consumers than ever become aware of the impact their choices have on health, and on the environment. By introducing an organic variant of our Demineralised Whey 90 ingredient, we're responding to their needs and preferences when it comes to early life nutrition,” said Sophie Nicolas, marketing manager, early life nutrition at FrieslandCampina Ingredients.
In 2020, the company invested in its locations at Bedum and Workum in the Netherlands, allowing for a certified and scalable production to meet growing consumer demand for organic products.
“We’re proud of how comprehensive our organic ingredient portfolio has now become,” Nicolas said.
“Deminal 90 is the newest member of an organic family of products including Lactopure Lactose Organic, Vivinal GOS Organic and Hyvital Whey EtD 100 Organic. Together, they cover core and functional components of infant milk formula, which means manufacturers now have more options than ever to enhance their organic positioning and brands in ways that truly resonate with today’s consumers.”
