Dutch police have released camera footage of a wild police chase in Enschede. The chase was ended when a police car smashed into the vehicle. The suspect was arrested by officers when he jumped out of the car and tried to flee on foot. The 24-year-old man from Poland was unharmed, NOS reported
Police footage shows the end of a chase that lasted for 75 kilometers between Apeldoorn and Enschede
The chase started on Monday evening when a car was stolen in Utrecht
The owner alerted the police shortly after this
The driver was asked to stop on two occasions but ignored the plea
which resulted in a chase that went up to 190 kilometers an hour
It included police vehicles ramming into the car
the suspect driving on the wrong side of the road
A police dog was used to arrest the suspect when he tried to flee
He is currently still in custody for theft
Police have stated that they will share more footage from the chase
This comes a day after a stolen vehicle was hit by a train in Berghem near Oss, which resulted in two men losing their lives. This had also been preceded by a police chase.

The tourist card to discover what’s best in the city easily and cost effectively

Updated on 15 June 2022 From Bologna Welcome
the green areas and its famous people
an inexhaustible pool from which to draw inspiration! It's just me
Illustrator and Photoshop who produce the covers of the fictional magazine
it's a bit tough but I always try to have three or four covers ready to ensure regular editions on Wednesdays
The intent of the page is to become both a benchmark for all lovers of Bologna and a showcase of my creativity to the world
I would like to see Bologna become increasingly sustainable and more energy-conscious
and winemakers grow and occupy an increasingly important place in the food chain
and seasonal products must be put at the centre of the ever-increasing demand of one of the most thriving sectors of Bologna's economy
Global climate change is caused in large part by intensive livestock farming; we can no longer pretend that this problem can be ignored
When I discovered The Milaneser Instagram page
shamefully two years late for a graphic design enthusiast like me
a sense of foreboding that if I didn't create my own The Bologneser page shortly thereafter
I would regret it once someone else did it instead of me
And within a week after designing the first cover
there was this incredible network of other people with the same passion for their city as I had
we exchange views and opinions on graphics and social strategies
I really like this brotherhood between different pages
My favourite places are mainly related to food
as you can find excellent quality pizzerias and gelaterias in Bologna
and a very vibrant and alive urban atmosphere that is constantly evolving
There’s my absolute favourite Japanese restaurant
super central with the Galliera 49 gelateria
where I went to high school and where I now work in my restaurant Antica Osteria romagnola
my family's since 1979.One place a bit off the beaten track is the Bolognese hills; walking
it’s always a great place to de-stress.
My favourite word is "soccia": an exclamation that has lost any vulgar meaning and has become part of the common Bolognese language
It is super versatile; it can be used to express amazement
It has the Bolognese "esshe," it makes it clear right away what your hometown is
in short it is Bologna summed up in one word
commitment to social and territorial promotion

RNA modifications add a new layer of complexity to the regulation of gene expression
“I have a Diploma in technological studies with a special focus on biochemical and biological analyses where I took my first steps in clinical microbiology research
Then I pursued my academic education with a Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and a Master's degree in the same field with a special focus on RNA biology where I made my first steps in the field of RNA modifications before focusing during my Ph.D
on the role of small nucleolar RNAs in muscle differentiation.”
after attaining my doctoral degree in Paris
I wanted to continue academic research on RNA modifications but outside of France
I saw the ad about the ‘Excellence of choice’ related to my ongoing project on the topic that I was looking for with
a particular focus on pathogenic bacteria that I found attractive
I remembered that a few ancient classmates went to Umeå University doing an internship and enjoyed their time there
a member of my family recently explored the Scandinavian countries
and she loved the landscapes and life there
I will also probably enjoy my time here!”
“My research is about studying the regulation of the epitranscriptomic mark m6A in the host cell during salmonella infection
I will explore whether the presence of genotoxin-producing bacteria (here salmonella expressing the typhoid toxin) can modulate the epitranscriptome of mRNA and use it as a strategy to reshape the gene expression profile of the infected cells for their own benefits
my project aims to improve our knowledge of the pathogenicity of genotoxin-producing bacteria
It is a really exciting project as on the one hand
I already know the field of RNA modifications but on the other hand
the field of fundamental microbiology research is completely new to me
meaning I have a lot of new and interesting things to learn!”
Epitranscriptome comprises chemical modification of RNA in a cell and constitutes an understudied layer of gene expression regulation
“I think the most difficult part of being a researcher is to accept that sometimes some experiments or ideas will fail even if you know you did your best but you cannot let it go as you need to find a solution to try to overcome the problem
we have the chance to be part of a community where other researchers have faced these same challenges and are willing to help you
and provide new insights that will change your way of thinking and enable you to progress in your project
this is very satisfying to see that the work that has contributed to increasing scientific knowledge contains small bits of each person who helped you to get there.”
"For sure the biggest difference between Umeå and Paris is the noise
It is also amazing with all the forests and parks that are just next door
I have been here since September but what I can say about Umeå University is that it is well-organized and very cozy."
But what is really fascinating about life science and more specifically molecular biology is that we look at mechanisms at the molecular level that can have a huge impact on cell physiology or cell fate
trying to identify these mechanisms and understand them is trying to understand how humans or life became what they are.”
“I would like to stay in academia but go back to France as a permanent researcher.”
Coming from: FranceMe in three words: Enthusiastic

Fashion is a common thread running through alumna Anouk van Oss’s life
fashion was a way for her to express herself
That was until she discovered how problematic the fashion industry is
She decided to focus on sustainability in her studies and hopes at some point to become a sustainability manager at a big fashion house
a small village on the outskirts of Oss in the province of Noord-Brabant
She felt different from everyone else in the village
not just because she was adopted and had racist comments flung at her but also because she had other interests than her peers
I discovered it’s also a way to express yourself
I already felt different and now I could show that with my personal style.’
She thought this way of expressing herself was fantastic until she watched the documentary The True Cost
exploitation and a disastrous environmental impact are the effects of the fashion industry
especially the fast-fashion industry that we know from Zara
‘When I discovered all the problems with the fashion industry
‘The documentary showed that it's not just the budget chains that engage in harmful practices: the big fashion brands are equally guilty
Fashion is so fabulous it’s sad things have gone so wrong in the industry.’
Van Oss focused on sustainability in her studies
She left Berghem to do International Development Studies in Wageningen but felt the political side of the story was missing
‘How can you carry out a development project if you disregard a country’s politics?’ she wondered
so I looked for a master’s at another university.’
She found what she was looking for in the Master’s in International Relations in Leiden
‘It was enlightening to delve into geopolitical relations and study how these develop’
The programme proved to have common ground with the fashion industry
given that many brands outsource work to countries with interesting geopolitical situations
Van Oss deliberately chose to take two years to do her master’s instead of one
‘Luckily I found one that was right up my street: at the office of the Social and Economic Council’s Dutch Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textile.’
Van Oss moved to Brussels to be with her boyfriend
‘I had no idea what I’d be doing there but thought I’d what happened
where lots of Dutch people who work for the EU go
They hold jazz nights or lectures and it’s a good place to network anyway
Being active there got me my first job.’
Things turned out well for Van Oss but she sometimes felt stressed by the competitive culture in Brussels
‘There are so many people here that want to work at the EU’
‘They are often young people who speak six languages
have done two master’s and six internships but still can’t find a job
Everyone here has studied so much and has so many skills that you no longer stand out
Luckily it was different for me because I knew I wanted to work in the private sector
Having already done an internship and being open-minded made it a bit easier for me.’
Van Oss has been working at The Rock Group
an organisation that helps companies transition towards a sustainable and responsible business model
She works as a consultant in a young and diverse team
‘It was good that I already had a strong focus on sustainability so I knew which direction I wanted to take’
‘I didn’t immediately think of consultancy but it’s a good way to gain insights into lots of different companies
Sometimes I work for clients who want to make their business practices more sustainable
sometimes I help with education on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability
And every now and then I go to events on sustainability that are organised here in Brussels by the European Parliament
One of the things she helps businesses with is due diligence
‘It’s a process in which businesses increase their focus on sustainability and transparency’
‘The first thing they need is a sustainability policy
that they don’t want child or forced labour in the chain
they have to look closely at where their things come from
not just their direct suppliers but also their suppliers and production locations
If they identify risks at one of these production locations
And they should communicate openly about this and involve their stakeholders so that the whole chain becomes transparent.’
More and more companies are serious about sustainability
‘You can see more and more businesses taking action’
and encourage their customers to return old garments for recycling
So they are trying to do their bit to reduce the mountains of textile waste in various African countries
Our “donations” to developing countries generally aren’t worn but are of such bad quality that they end up in landfills.’
clothing brands have mainly focused on the environment
an enormous building in Bangladesh housing
collapsed in 2013 killing more than 1,100 workers and injuring more than 2,500
‘There has been a bit more attention for people’s working conditions since then’
‘but it’s awful that it took a disaster like that for this to happen
there will be a more structural focus on the social aspects of the fashion industry.’
Although it is a slow and time-consuming process
Van Oss tries to be hopeful about the future
‘More people are becoming aware of the problems in the clothing industry’
‘but obviously there are lots of people who can’t afford to consider sustainability
I myself don’t buy new clothes but buy second-hand instead
And I try to make those around me aware of impulse purchases
I was guilty of that when I worked in a clothes shop
It’s better to buy one good quality garment that you really like and will wear regularly than something you’re unsure about and will only wear once.’

Stadium: Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia
They offer an away day that many opposing teams and fans do not enjoy
The Curva Nord is home to the Ultra group Curva Nord 1907 and they often choreograph displays with flares
There may be bigger and better stadiums in Italy
but few are as inflammatory as this one can be on match day
It is July 2013 and the Ultras of Atalanta are partying at their pre-season festival
a tank – is in the process of crushing both Brescia and Roma
one painted the white and blue of Brescia and the other painted the red and yellow of Roma
family and players have come to join this annual celebration of the football club
known as La Festa della Dea (Festival of the Goddess)
On board the tank with a number of Atalanta supporters is new signing Giulio Migliaccio
who later claimed he was “inadvertently the protagonist” in what one might
mistake for a tribal celebration of a goddess of war
Actually La Dea is Atalanta and its tribes are the Ultras
or in local dialect Berghem de Sura e Berghem de Sota
It is famous for its musical history and enchanting medieval ambience
yet take a trip down to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia
and the Ultras of Atalanta compose music of an altogether different pulse
Atalanta’s Ultras have long been associated with left-wing politics and images of socialist icon Che Guevara could often be seen in the Curva Nord (or Curva Pisani)
Brigate Neroazzure – black and blue brigade (BNA) – were formed in 1976
Sub-groups such as Wild Kaos Atalanta (WKA)
Nomadi (Nomads) andNuova Guardia (New Guard) formed from BNA
Over the years these Ultras earned themselves a fierce reputation and were renowned for using only “fists” and “boots”
following the death of Genoa fan Vincenzo Spagnolo
the Atalantini issued a statement entitled “basta lame
basta infami” (“cut out the knives
under the leadership of Claudio “Il Bocia” Galimberti members fromNuova Guardia
WKA and later the whole of Nomadi came together to formdell’Atalanta Supporters (or Curva Nord Atalanta)
Il Bocia is well known within the Ultra circle
infamous for his fearless and violent past
he greatly respected for his work within the Atalanta and Bergamo community
he organises fundraising and family events such as the aforementioned Festa Della Dea
Atalanta’s local and fiercest rivals
issued a statement regarding Il Bocia‘s stadium ban: “Nemico leale
Boci non mollare!” (“Bocia our loyal enemy
one small group have resisted the call to unite
When the BNA disbanded due to internal conflict regarding ideology and territory on the Curva
some members decided to form Forever Atalanta
and their members are thought to be predominately leftist
In recent years the Atalantini have been involved in significant riots and protests
before Atalanta’s game against AC Milan
news travelled to Bergamo that Lazio fan Gabriele Sandri had been shot by police
a pocket of the Curva Nord tried to break down a glass perimeter fence
Players on both sides attempted to calm fans but they were warned that the violence would continue if the game was not abandoned
The first concerned the club and captain Cristiano Doni’s role in a matchfixing scandal
the second was a protest in Rome opposing La Tessera Del Tifoso (ID cards for football fans)
Neither Curva Nord nor Forever Atalanta have accepted La Tessera
and are therefore unable to follow Atalanta on the road
Atalanta’s Ultras have few friends and many enemies
“Ci stanno sul cazzo tutti” (“we hate everybody”)
The stabbing of three Atalantini by Roma fans in 2006 has created a particularly heated rivalry
The few “friends” they have include Ternana and Eintracht Frankfurt
On match days the Curva Pisani is a concoction of flares
On special occasions it is engulfed by a huge blue and black flag
The infamous standing of the Atalanta Ultras lives on and although their reputation has been earned through many a bloody battle they are also admired for upholding Ultra values and their close relationship to the Bergamo community
As Il Bocia puts it: “What Ultras do is bring the city together
It is our duty to preserve the real values of this sport and while we are around
we will carry that passion forward till the bitter end.”
The Argentinian began his Serie A career at Hellas Verona in 1988 and went on to play for Roma
but he is remembered for his time with Atalanta
where he played 102 games and scored 27 goals in two spells (1989-1992 and 1999-2000)
shimmying past defenders and then providing ice cool finishes
normally followed by white hot celebrations
He is best remembered for his goal against Brazil in the second round of Italia 90
a goal which he described as “the most important goal of my career
because we were really on the back foot and because of the rivalry we have with them”
Fans of the Italian game who can recall those heady days in the early 1990s remember a player with breathtaking pace and long blonde hair that flowed in the wind as he darted forward
but he was also a poacher with great ability in the air

Longtime White City resident Peggy Baker shared her 100th birthday celebrations with family
As a wartime bride and lifelong H&F resident
Peggy Baker has a kaleidoscope of memories of her years in west London
From dancing at a renowned local stage school
to working for the BBC at its former home at Television Centre in White City
the stories of vibrant Peggy's century milestone showcase her zest for life
Celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends at White City Community Centre in India Way on Sunday (3 March)
the festivities took place just a stone's throw from Peggy's home of seven decades in Batman Close
The 75-strong party was joined by H&F Mayor
who said: "A huge congratulations to Peggy Baker on her 100th birthday
Hearing the stories of Peggy's life shows what a valued part of the local community she has been for the past century
"It's been wonderful to share this landmark event with Peggy and all her family and friends."
Peggy even got national recognition last week
when her birthday was given a mention on BBC Radio 2's Trevor Nelson show
as well as receiving a signed card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla
Having moved to Batman Close when it was newly-built
Peggy's family has expanded over the years to include seven children
19 grandchildren and at least 25 great-grandchildren
have many happy memories of growing up in the area
"We had such a lovely childhood and such good friends," explains daughter Peggy
and mum and dad used to go with us to the swimming pool
We had great times and I remember mum used to dive in the pool."
But the family hadn't always lived in White City
as birthday girl Peggy spent her early years living in West Kensington's Berghem Mews
losing her father in a cycling accident when she just four years old
Peggy and her four siblings were brought up by their mum before the Second World War
Early photos show fresh-faced Peggy with a fashionable bob haircut in a decorative costume as she poses during her time performing with the Chiswick-based Corona Stage School
which produced famous pupils including Jane Asher and Nicholas Lyndhurst

Peggy's family were never far from the action
with sister Blanche working as part of the air raid recovery effort as a stretcher bearer for those bombed in Shepherds Bush
It was during this time that Peggy – then with the maiden name Parker – met her husband John
Young Peggy was just 17 when she met John while he was working as a metalworker at motor manufacturing company Rootes in one of its sites in Acton
John joined the Navy and was sent overseas
working on Arctic convoys of aircraft carriers
as well as postings in Malta and Singapore
the couple married in Brook Green the day before Valentine's Day
"Mum's wedding dress was beautiful and she sewed it herself," adds daughter Peggy
who created a photo album of pictures taken over the years for her mum's 97th birthday in 2021
Celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation in 1953 with a huge street party at Emlyn Gardens
Having moved to Emlyn Gardens, close to Wendell Park
Peggy spent the first six months of motherhood alone before John could return from his Naval duties
But once the couple were back together, they expanded their family – enjoying many happy times including celebrating Queen Elizabeth II's Coronation in 1953 with a huge street party
The family of nine also included siblings William
Julie and Janine – with trips to the seaside
Christmas parties and music from the likes of American singers Perry Como and Lou Rawls adding to the memories
Peggy smiles as she remembers husband John and their antics
he was the "life and soul of the party" adds daughter Peggy
"Mum still has a wicked sense of humour," says her daughter
who was joined at the party by relatives from as far afield as Australia
The family has remained incredibly close over the years
with both Peggy and John and their daughter Peggy working together at the BBC in the 1980s
"Mum started out with the BBC doing accounts in the artists' contracts department," adds Peggy
"She then ended up working permanently in the mail room for the BBC
as well as doing extra work showing audiences to their seats while filming took place."
And while the area has changed dramatically over the years
there's one part that has endured – family happiness
"Mum and dad passed all their happiness onto us
and that way we were brought up has been passed onto our children," explains Peggy

The weekend proved a successful one for local Taekwon-Do students as they brought home seven trophies from the Berghem Open Tournament in the Netherlands
Leo Maguire led a team of twenty competitors from Northern Ireland to the prestigious event
Seventeen podium spots were claimed in total
Nine members of the team are students of local classes in Mid Ulster and they were up against over three hundred competitors from the Netherlands
as well as their own team mates in some divisions
The young athletes battled for glory in patterns and sparring
claiming two silver and five bronze trophies between them
Three of the Mid Ulster students have benefited from extra training support from their sporting parents
Mollie-Rose Brady’s father Eamon competes in triathlons and Iron Man contests at European and World Championship level
Alex who was twice Taekwon-Do champion of his home country
All involved gained valuable experience in international sporting competition
but parents were keen to point out the beneficial life skills and values that the youngsters gain through studying Taekwon-Do:
“The camaraderie and friendships between all the guys and girls in the classes and on the team is a real confidence builder,” said Paddy Rodgers from Cookstown
and gives back by helping out the younger kids in the Active Tigers classes in Cookstown.”
whose daughter Mollie-Rose attends classes in both Cookstown and Dungannon said
“It’s great that Mollie-Rose is building physical strength
but after seeing the team together at the weekend it’s clear that the teaching of respect
courtesy and self-control is given equal importance.”
Mr Maguire, Chief Taekwon-Do instructor for the area and President for Northern Ireland ITF is keen to point out that support from local council is vital for supporting these athletes:
“The Sports Representative Grant offered by Mid Ulster District Council is a great help with the costs involved in attending these international competitions. Without such financial support it would be so much more difficult for these young athletes to gain the vital experience they need at this level if they want to progress in the sport. And of course
the support of the parents is invaluable.”

Due to a collision between a Carnaval float and a train in Berghem (Noord-Brabant) on Sunday night
no trains are running until at least noon on Monday
Only the train driver got hurt in the collision on the level crossing at Zevenbergseweg
The collision happened at around 11:30 p.m
The police and several emergency services responded to the scene
Alternative transport was arranged for the passengers on the train involved in the crash
NS previously assumed that the trains between Oss and Wijchen could start running again around 4:00 a.m.
but the repair work is taking longer than expected
The ProRail spokesperson explained that the debris from the float and the train must first be removed
