DALLAS — Imagine someone pulling Mikko Rantanen aside during training camp in Denver back in September and dropping this kind of crystal ball nonsense to him “Hey Mikko, you’re going to score a hat trick in Game 7 … for the Dallas Stars to beat out the Colorado Avalanche.’’ “I think I would have left the room in disbelief,’’ Rantanen said with a smile on Saturday night for sure I would have not believed it had someone told me that.’’ Never mind traded to Carolina in between all that mentally tough overall,’’ Rantanen continued “Getting traded twice — it’s not fun ever to get traded even once But I got to thank everyone here in Dallas This may be the night that he truly became a Dallas Star in every sense of the word Rantanen’s drama-filled season added a wild chapter with his Game 7 heroics Saturday night in a comeback, 4-2 win over his old team to cap one of the most memorable first-round series in the modern era “Mikko put the team on his back,” Stars GM Jim Nill told The Athletic moments after a win people won’t soon forget in these parts But Mikko decided to put the team on his back It’s the kind of game Nill had in mind when he pounced on the opportunity to get him out of Carolina at the deadline March 7 one he saw up close in this Dallas-Colorado rivalry “His history and resume show that’s what he is.’’ The playoffs began with Rantanen feeling the heat for putting up just one assist in four games 96 was struggling to adjust to his new surroundings There were questions about whether it was too difficult for him to wrap his mind around playing his longtime pals in Colorado There were questions about whether he could still produce at the same level without his old buddy Nathan MacKinnon on his line “I think he answered that question,’’ Stars head coach Peter DeBoer said to that last one Rantanen put up 11 points (6-5) in the last three games And he saved the Stars in a series where they were outplayed for long stretches by the Avalanche Which was punctuated by his first goal Saturday night to get his team going a laser of a wrist shot that beat MacKenzie Blackwood and ignited the improbable comeback `F–k this’ on that first goal,’’ said Stars veteran Matt Duchene It only made sense the guy named after it decided the outcome “You can’t write it up any better than that,” said Stars goalie Jake Oettinger One of the best individual performances I’ve seen in the playoffs in my life the Stars saw a quality person and star player not letting it affect his attitude “He took over the series the last three games,’’ said DeBoer “He just decided that we were not going to go home and we were not going to lose against one of the top five teams in the world and what he did there down the stretch was special.” It was shock and disappointment in the Avalanche dressing room But certainly not surprise when it came to their old pal playing playoff hero They saw that first-hand for a decade in Coronado “Credit to him,” Avs superstar defenseman Cale Makar said I don’t really have any words right now to describe what happened.’’ who scored his playoff-leading seventh goal on this night: “I don’t know Felt like we were in total control and then Mikko He was a difference maker and he took over Felt like we were in complete control of the game the whole time and just lost it.’’ a spectacular wraparound effort banked off Samuel Girard Then he assisted on Wyatt Johnston’s game-winner on a power play of course Rantanen capped the night with an empty-netter which rained down hats on the ice “Obviously the feeling is incredible,’’ said Rantanen I expected a seven-game series even before Game 1.’’ The handshake line was predictably charged There were affectionate embraces between Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog They’re my brothers for sure,” Rantanen said “Most of them I know really well and played with them for 10 years A couple of guys have been there since Day 1 It’s only a couple of months since I was still with them And all of sudden playing against them in a Game 7 I go back to a comment MacKinnon made to me the morning of Game 5 when I asked him again to revisit his own emotions from the day Rantanen was traded to Carolina “You just never really think it’s going to get to that point,” MacKinnon told The Athletic last Monday he’s one of the best players in our league A lot will be made now of the Avs’ decision coming back to haunt them they thought they were never going to be able to to sign him to a number that worked for them So they got the best trade they could for him as a pending UFA never in their wildest dreams did they think he would get dealt again and dealt to their rival in Dallas The Stars and Avalanche meeting in the first round was going to be unfair for one team soul-crushing in the manner in which it ended But it was as close a series as you’re going to see “I have a hard time believing there’s any team that’s that much better than Colorado out there left,” said Oettinger “That was an absolute gauntlet of a series,’’ DeBoer said Nill and his counterpart Chris MacFarland exchanged a warm hug after Game 7 There’s so much respect between both GMs and between both organizations “One of us wasn’t going to be happy,” Nill said 1 defenseman Miro Heiskanen and leading scorer Jason Robertson that found a way they’ve done it for the last two to three years,” said Nill Jim’s done an unbelievable job making this team deep enough where we can kind of afford to have injuries like that and still be great,” said Duchene We had a lot of guys stepping up and doing big things DeBoer said postgame that Heiskanen and Robertson are getting closer and both should play in the second round at some point And after a title belt series with the Avs “I think there’s something special going on,’’ said DeBoer After losing in the Cup final in ’20 and going to back-to-back conference finals in ’23 and ’24 sees some similarities to his Avs championship squad from ’22 “I think it was a really deep team (in ’22) when we won,” said Rantanen Obviously we were missing Miro and Robo the whole first round Whenever we get them back it’s going to help and give us even more depth But I think the depth is a really big key in a Cup run.’’ we might get a Carolina-Dallas Stanley Cup final in six weeks He had the weight of the world on his shoulders before this series And he delivered in the most dramatic of ways “Obviously things happened not the way I expected But it’s business like I’ve said many times I’m just happy to win (against) another team in the playoffs I’m just happy to be on the winning side and move on here.’’ (Top photo of Mikko Rantanen following his hat-trick: Richard Rodriguez / Getty Images) and MoreHunting for great deals. The Could a Monster Earthquake Actually Sink Parts of the Pacific Northwest A new study is fueling speculation and fear about the risks of a major earthquake in the Cascadia subduction zone By Stephanie Pappas edited by Jeanna Bryner drowned from subsidence during an earthquake at a subduction zone some 1,600 years ago Marli Miller/UCG/Universal Images Group via Getty Images Scary headlines about the Pacific Northwest sinking into the sea are circulating online with warnings that a major earthquake in the notorious Cascadia subduction zone could be worse than expected adds is an understanding of how much additional land would end up being at a high risk of flooding because of these two combined threats If you're enjoying this article, consider supporting our award-winning journalism by subscribing By purchasing a subscription you are helping to ensure the future of impactful stories about the discoveries and ideas shaping our world today But over the past 7,000 years or so, at least 11 major earthquakes have struck the Cascadia region where these faults reside The last of these temblors occurred in 1700 and geologists can still see evidence of it causing the coastline to drop between 1.6 and 6.5 feet in the blink of an eye “We have these really rooted organic soils that are suddenly overlain by this really clean tidal mud indicating they were suddenly dropped down and were buried and basically converted to tidal flats,” says Tina Dura a coastal geologist at Virginia Tech and first author of the new study was the combined effect of this sudden subsidence and the slower inundation caused by sea-level rise Dura and her colleagues looked at earthquake scenarios that would yield different ranges of subsidence They also compared such an earthquake’s effects at today’s sea levels with those at sea levels forecasted for 2100 sea-level rise is expected to outpace the geological uplift of the PNW and may reach as much as 2.9 feet The team found that if an earthquake that caused more than six feet of subsidence were to happen today the 100-year floodplain in estuaries in Cascadia would expand by 115 square miles Were this quake to happen in the year 2100 with the additional pressures of sea-level rise those estuaries would expand by 145 square miles That would be triple the flood-prone area that is seen today In the event of a magnitude 8 quake in Cascadia subsidence would not be the first issue on anyone’s mind A large undersea quake could cause a devastating tsunami that would immediately threaten lives and structures The new study is focused on areas within about six feet of elevation of the current 100-year floodplain and the earthquake-driven tsunami could be more than 30 feet high A good comparison might be the 2004 Sumatra earthquake and tsunami that killed more than 227,000 people around the Indian Ocean or the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami that killed more than 16,000 in Japan but the severity of the initial disaster far eclipsed concerns about coastal slump Understanding the subsidence is important for preparation Municipal planners may want to avoid building new electrical substations or wastewater treatment plants in the areas that could become floodplains (A 100-year floodplain has a 1 percent chance of flooding each year.) Tide- or storm-driven flooding of low-lying bridges roadways and airports in the immediate aftermath of the quake could affect evacuation efforts and rescue attempts And many people may find that property that was once safe from flooding is now regularly inundated particularly in built-up areas such as Seaside and Grays Harbor County in Washington State “The tsunami is a process that takes minutes to hours after the earthquake,” she says we’re still going to have the land level that has dropped down and changed the floodplain footprint.” Stephanie Pappas is a freelance science Institution She is a firm believer that science is for everyone and that just about everything can be viewed through the lens of science When the Webb Telescope began sending back its first deep‑field images astronomers expected a gentle trickle of faint bright “red monster” galaxies shining barely 500 million to one billion years after the Big Bang That early cosmic boom of redshifted galaxies surprised even seasoned researchers who thought they had a solid grip on how galaxies grow Those jumbo galaxies – some as hefty as today’s Milky Way – seemed to upend the standard Lambda Cold Dark Matter (ΛCDM) framework maybe the textbook timeline for star formation needed a fresh look an international team dug into the telescope’s FRESCO survey which pairs crisp imaging with spectroscopic measurements that reveal a galaxy’s exact distance and age Using FRESCO the team sifted through 36 dust‑shrouded galaxies Precise redshifts confirmed that most of them fit neatly within ΛCDM expectations Each one boasts a stellar mass greater than 10¹¹ times that of the Sun – impressive for any epoch but absolutely astounding for the universe’s first billion years Together the galaxies may have fueled about 17 percent of all star formation between redshifts 5 and 6 when the cosmos was just under a billion years old “Our findings are reshaping our understanding of galaxy formation in the early universe,” says Dr. Mengyuan Xiao, lead author of the study from the University of Geneva The trio’s extreme efficiency stands out: they appear to have turned roughly half of the normal matter available inside their dark‑matter halos into stars two to three times the rate seen in later epochs Typical galaxies manage no more than 20 percent Yet the emission from these early behemoths is spread across each system hinting that a ravenous central black hole is not the main driver High dust content reddens these galaxies in the Webb Telescope’s near‑infrared view earning them the nickname “red monsters.” “The massive properties of these ‘red monsters’ had hardly been determined before JWST because they are optically invisible owing to dust attenuation,” explained Dr. David Elbaz of CEA Paris‑Saclay That veil once hid their true size from earlier telescopes that relied on ultraviolet light Webb’s NIRCam/grism setup changes the game catching the faint glow of star‑forming regions even when soot‑like grains block shorter wavelengths “Our findings highlight the remarkable power of NIRCam/grism spectroscopy,” explains Pascal Oesch “The instrument on board the space telescope allows us to identify and study the growth of galaxies over time and to obtain a clearer picture of how stellar mass accumulates over the course of cosmic history.” The ΛCDM model says dark‑matter halos act as cosmic scaffolding snagging gas that later cools and condenses into stars most galaxies never convert more than a fifth of that gas Forming stars nearly twice as efficiently as smaller systems of the same era they hint that early conditions – higher gas densities or more frequent mergers – offered shortcuts to rapid growth “These results indicate that galaxies in the early universe could form stars with unexpected efficiency,” Dr they will offer new insights into the conditions that shaped the universe’s earliest epochs The red monsters are just the beginning of a new era in our exploration of the early universe.” Because light takes time to travel, Webb’s mirrors act like a time machine. Looking 13 billion light‑years away means seeing the cosmos as it was 13 billion years ago Catching massive galaxies so soon after the Big Bang forces theorists to revisit the ingredients in their simulations Did primordial stars explode in ways that seeded galaxies with heavy elements sooner than thought Or do current models underestimate how quickly halos pull matter together at high redshift While the latest measurements leave ΛCDM standing Galaxy‑formation codes must now reproduce both the typical dust‑rich galaxies and these overachievers without breaking other well‑tested predictions such as the distribution of the cosmic microwave background Future Webb programs will broaden the census of early massive systems, while the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) maps cold gas and dust in finer detail Together they can show whether the red monsters are rare oddities or signposts of a busier‑than‑expected era If more turn up, theorists may need to refine how feedback from newborn stars and nascent black holes regulates star formation when the universe is young the trio of red monsters stands as a reminder that the cosmos still holds plenty of secrets Webb’s sharp eyes and spectroscopic tools have opened a fresh window on those first luminous giants they’re likely to find that the universe’s childhood was livelier – and more efficient – than anyone guessed The full study was published in the journal Nature Featured Image Credit: NASA / CSA / ESA / M Like what you read? Such a scenario would more than double “the flooding exposure of residents, structures and roads,” and officials would need to contend with a future of “compromised roadways and bridges,” as well as lifelines and infrastructure that are either more frequently flooded or permanently inundated, the study’s authors wrote. California outlined in maps published by the California Geological Survey illustrate the devastation possible from extreme-but-realistic scenarios a powerful earthquake in this area would risk “drastically altering shorelines and causing profound Unlike relative sea-level rise that’s driven more gradually by climate change a rise resulting from a major earthquake “will happen within minutes leaving no time for adaptation or mitigation.” The last megaquake on the Cascadia subduction zone, registering a magnitude 9, occurred in 1700. Based on archaeological evidence, villages sank and had to be abandoned, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. This map shows the location of the Cascadia subduction zone. (FEMA) From California’s North Coast to Washington state, scientists say, the next great earthquake — magnitude 8 or higher — could cause land to sink by 1.6 to 6.6 feet, the same range seen during the 1700 earthquake. Currently, more than 8,000 people live in flood plain areas along estuaries in the Cascadia coastal region. But in the event of a high level of subsidence after an earthquake, that figure would nearly triple to more than 22,000, the study calculates. Nearly 36,000 structures would be threatened by the resulting quake-influenced flood plain, a 168% increase from the current figure of about 13,000. A tsunami warning was issued across Northern California on Thursday morning following a magnitude 7 earthquake It’s a reminder to prepare and know how to respond in case of such emergencies And an additional 777 miles of roadway would be in the new flood plain nearly tripling the at-risk total to 1,212 miles of road The flood plain is defined as areas that have at least a 1% chance of flooding each year, which is considered to be “high risk,” according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency. These are areas that have at least a 1-in-4 chance of flooding during a 30-year mortgage. Flood insurance must be purchased by home and business owners in high-risk areas with mortgages from federally regulated or insured lenders. Radiocarbon dating suggests there have been more than 11 great earthquakes off the shore of California’s North Coast, Oregon and Washington state over the last 6,000 to 7,000 years — recurring every 200 to 800 years, the study said. “Gradual climate-driven sea-level rise is not the only inundation threat,” the study said. “Coastal subsidence from the next great [Cascadia subduction zone] earthquake may produce” more than 3 feet of sudden relative sea-level rise sooner than otherwise expected. Risk of a monster quake and tsunami off California’s North Coast is greater than researchers once thought When discussing a future megaquake on the Cascadia subduction zone “We often hear about the tsunami and the shaking But there’s the subsidence that’s going to persist — for decades to centuries —after the earthquake and just totally alter the flood plains,” Tina Dura assistant professor of geosciences at Virginia Tech and the study’s lead author One estimate published by FEMA is that a magnitude 9 earthquake along the full length of the 800-mile fault zone would leave 5,800 dead from the earthquake alone An additional 8,000 would die from the resulting tsunami that could rise as high as 80 feet and offer coastal areas as few as 10 minutes of warning Total economic losses could hit $134 billion In the 1700 Cascadia megaquake, oral histories describe tsunamis more than 50 feet high wiping out coastal villages. In Anacla, a village on what is now called Vancouver Island, only 1 out of more than 600 people survived, according to the U.S. Geological Survey The tsunami was so strong that it uprooted trees treetops were found strewn with trash and victims’ limbs “Ghost forests” of rot-resistant trees found in tidal marshes and estuaries in the region are evidence that land sank during the quake and drowned the trees The results of the latest study should be a wake-up call to residents and government officials considering a postquake response, scientists say. There already are parts of U.S. Route 101 that routinely flood during exceptionally high king tides, Dura said, “and places like that could be kind of a hot spot for seeing flooding right away after the subsidence” following a megaearthquake. Another factor officials should consider is whether crucial infrastructure, such as airports, would fall within the quake-expanded flood plain, scientists say. will Californians be ready for a lack of modern communication connections Extended periods without essential utilities such as water and gas The mental health effects that often follow disaster Authorities may also want to consider avoiding building infrastructure such as schools fire stations and wastewater treatment plants in areas “that we’ve shown are likely to become in the flood plain,” Dura said Notable areas at risk of land sinking after a megaquake along the Cascadia subduction zone Traditionally, scientists and government officials have focused on climate-change-driven sea-level rise to calculate the projected increased risk of coastal flooding. But the study suggests that neglecting the role of major earthquakes would be shortsighted. “Earthquake-driven coastal subsidence following recent historical earthquakes has had severe consequences for communities, leading to permanent land loss, infrastructure damage and forced relocation,” the study said. Having half a dozen earthquakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater strike in a single week is not a common occurrence in Southern California One example was the magnitude 9.1 earthquake off Japan’s east coast in 2011, which caused some land to sink by up to 3 feet. In one area of the town of Ishinomaki, the sinking land forced people to contend with regular flooding Another magnitude 9.1 earthquake that struck near Sumatra in 2004 caused land subsidence of up to 3 feet Areas used for aquaculture have since suffered chronic tidal flooding And a magnitude 9.5 earthquake in Chile in 1960 caused up to 8 feet of coastal subsidence, “permanently submerging coastal pine forests and farms and converting them to intertidal marshes, and flooding coastal towns and forcing residents to abandon homes,” the study said. Besides Dura, there are 19 other co-authors to the study, with affiliations including Singhofen Halff Associates of Orlando, Fla.; the University of Oregon; Rowan University; the University of North Carolina Wilmington; Durham University; the USGS; Cal Poly Humboldt; the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries; the University of Hong Kong; and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. They are understandably thrilled and happy. I’m happy they’re happy, but I’m not happy about the baby because really it means nothing to me. I feel pretty indifferent about the whole thing and am fed up with all the sentimental fuss about babies. Everyone else in our social group (all in their 30s) seems to be excited, but I simply don’t understand. The trouble for me is the way our friends have changed. They have stopped being the people I liked and they have moved home, too, leaving their good friends behind. Before they moved, they stopped going out as much, stopped being there to talk to, stopped being as lively as they once were and became preoccupied with the bump. It’s as if they have learned a new language I don’t speak. I can’t join in the conversation and don’t understand what they are talking about. The old subjects have gone; there is only one topic. Am I a monster to admit I get no pleasure receiving an email containing 25 pictures of the new baby? My two friends are not the only ones suffering baby-madness. My boyfriend’s brother and his wife have recently had a baby, and since they announced she was pregnant, the grandparents-to-be have lost all interest in my boyfriend and me. Somehow, we are now less worthy of their time and effort because we, by direct comparison, do not have a baby. 'I don’t understand the hysteria surrounding other people’s babies,' writes Rosa I would like to (in fact, hope to) have my own children in a couple of years, so I am very far from being anti-children. But I don’t understand the hysteria surrounding other people’s babies. Suddenly it feels like my life and its issues are so less important than anything to do with the baby. Besides, I do genuinely miss my friends (the pre-baby version – not this new, overly-excited, can’t-talk-to-them variety). In writing this, I know how I sound. But as bad as I feel about that, those are my feelings. I can see that my attitude will become a problem if left unchecked, so I would really like to hear your thoughts on this. Bel Mooney replies: Some readers will think you sound very self-absorbed, even immature. My first reaction is to wonder whether you are expressing views held by other younger people (and some older ones, too), who would be afraid to be so forthright. I like honesty but, in fact, I think you ‘sound’ somewhat panicky, so I’m wondering what’s going on. Right at the end of your email you make the interesting comment that you foresee a problem in the future if your ‘attitude’ remains ‘unchecked.’ The only way to ‘check’ it is to examine your feelings with even more honesty. The truth is, we can all bore our friends if we become too obsessed with one thing. New grandmothers, especially, can often be heard apologising in passing – and without much conviction – when they click on yet another set of pictures of the adorable new grandchild or the cute toddler grandchildren at play. I’ve done it myself! A friend will probably say, ‘Oh, how lovely’ because that’s polite, but they don’t necessarily want to look for too long. So I made the decision to change. It might seem like change was impossible, given my nature and my age, but I understood exactly what there was to lose . . . The point wasn’t whether or not I liked it. The point was it had to be done. From The Dutch House, by Ann Patchett (American author, born 1963) Personally I adore pictures of babies and children, but don’t think it’s heinous for somebody to mutter: ‘All babies look alike, for heaven’s sake!’ Let’s accept that you feel sad to have lost the company of two good friends and that you can’t help irrationally ‘blaming’ the innocent baby who caused all this. Missing them as they were, you lack the inner resources for the emotional growth that could understand their joy. I’m afraid it shows a sad lack of empathy and must call into question the depth of the original friendship. Was it all about fun, rather than understanding? You’re also jealous of your husband’s brother and his wife, stamping your foot and crying for attention like a little child. But why? You write: ‘Suddenly it feels like my life and its issues are so less worthy.’ What ‘issues’ are so bothering you? Is the baby‑annoyance displacing something else? Reading between the lines, I can’t help wondering what conversations you and your boyfriend have had about the future. Do you fear a lack of commitment on his part? Do you long for marriage? That needs exploring, because there seems to be a lot of fear behind your words. That’s why I used the word ‘panicky’ above. I confess that when I found myself pregnant (at 26), my first response was a feeling of panic I couldn’t confide to anybody. I’d already been married for five years, and there were no adverse circumstances, except perhaps the job which took my husband away a great deal. But I was horrified at the thought of losing my freedom, and terrified of not being able to cope. Could that be what’s going on with you? I also ask you to consider whether you’re terrified of childbirth itself? That’s not unusual, you know. These are issues which counselling could unravel, but an honest, in-depth conversation with your partner might do the trick. By the way, once I had my baby son, I fell in love in a brand-new way and wanted to show his photograph to the whole world. Recently I discovered, through the website Ancestry, that my youngest daughter Jenny appeared with a 50 per cent DNA connection with me, but no DNA connection with my elder daughter, Sue. The implication was clear and did not come as a surprise, as I had always had my doubts about Sue’s paternity. But in the 1960s you were more or less obliged to take the girl’s word about an unplanned pregnancy, and so my ex-wife and I got married at an extremely young age. 'They say the truth can set you free, but it can also tangle you up in knots that dig into the flesh,' writes Bel Mooney Married life was very difficult. For no apparent reason she would explode with a torrent of verbal abuse and start packing a case, declaring she was going home to mother. It wasn’t easy trying to calm her down. I researched pre-menstrual tension, etc., to try to find what triggered these spells of discontent, but it all just got worse. Eventually I called a halt to the marriage after 31 years. Why did it last so long? Firstly I considered the children were my responsibility, and secondly as I was in the RAF life was complicated. When I later took Sue to task about refusing to attend her sister’s wedding, she declared she’d never talk to me again. But as there appears to be no DNA connection between myself and Sue, do I now contact her, or her mother, in order to clarify it? Bel Mooney replies: I had to omit much from your original letter – they were complicated details about housing and not necessary to the story, when there was much else I’d have liked to have been told. The key thing was your relationship to both girls as they were growing, notwithstanding your absences. Did they get on with each other? Were you closer to the youngest? Did their parents’ tempestuous marriage have any discernible effects on them? You tell me in your longer letter that your eldest, Sue, refused to attend her sister’s wedding because she and your ex-wife looked down on the man she was marrying. Can that really have been the only reason? The whole thing is quite a strange story. That, however, does not change the fact that the DNA revelation awakened suspicions you had harboured ever since your ‘shotgun’ wedding. The proliferation of genealogical testing sites has but it can also tangle you up in knots that dig into the flesh And sometimes a search for the truth can be evidence of mean-spiritedness – and do harm Ask yourself what effect pushing the issue with your ex-wife and/or with Sue would have on your own well-being You are already estranged from Sue over the wedding invitation and it’s clear from your final crack at this elder daughter (which I cut out) that you don’t think much of her at all Were you still supporting the girls financially you might find motivation in a sense of injustice but since they are both married this cannot be the case In which case you would almost certainly tell Sue and potentially angry with her troubled mother Would it help their relationship with Jenny their wellbeing must be taken into consideration One day there may be cousins who might like to play together Since your eldest has refused to speak to you and sounds as if she is still close to your ex-wife To pursue your question will lead to upset and conflict I’d focus on your own life in the present and that of the younger daughter with whom you have no quarrel or qualms Living as we do in a precious corridor of Green Belt this week’s glorious weather was a special joy as it enticed many more people than those who actually live in the area to enjoy the beauty of the English countryside It’s not that where we live is especially picturesque But all sorts of people walk their dogs and ride their horses along these lanes At different times of the year you see families enjoying the green ‘lung’ that lifts their spirits and presents them with a generosity of cow parsley blackthorn and towering chestnut spires right now I grieve to read that five massive new communities will be created and three villages expanded in South Gloucestershire’s blueprint for where homes should be built over the next 15 years comprising more than 15,000 houses and flats make up about two-thirds of the 22,573 properties in the newly published Local Plan for 2026-41 This is Labour’s intention (with hideous ‘green’ plans Listen: a new housing estate means the death of fields with all their astonishing diversity of grasses and flowers used by small creatures and birds as pathways to safety The prospect makes me – and countless others – utterly miserable Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article The Mail on Sunday & Metro Media Group Please try using other words for your search or explore other sections of the website for relevant information Our team is working diligently to resolve the issue Thank you for your patience and understanding Monster Beverage Corporation (MNST) is a leading American beverage company headquartered in Corona, California.
