Text description provided by the architects. Moke Architects has designed a wooden house in Muiden together with la4sale The living/working house of the two founders of the la4sale landscape agency had to have a 'landscape' appearance based on the nature of the residents The house has a visible wooden construction The house designed by Gianni Cito and the partners of la4sale is located directly behind the dike of the IJmeer in the new residential area near Amsterdam The residents wanted a house where they could enjoy the view The house is divided into a front and rear house offset from each other; an idea suggested by the residents Ecohouse made of Wood - The new living/working house of two designers with a landscape architecture practice seems to have emerged naturally in its green surroundings. The house with a visible wooden construction, pergolas, views and a greenhouse on the roof is located in the old port town of Muiden, directly behind the dike of the Ijmeer near Amsterdam. granted approval of Nubeqa™ (darolutamide) for the treatment of patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) / Approval is based on Phase III ARASENS trial data 2023 – The European Commission has granted marketing authorization in the European Union (EU) for Nubeqa™ (darolutamide) plus androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in combination with docetaxel for the treatment of patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) Nubeqa is already approved for the treatment of patients with non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) who are at high risk of developing metastatic disease “Today’s approval of Nubeqa represents a significant milestone in addressing unmet medical needs for people living with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer in Europe,” said Christine Roth Member of the Executive Committee of Bayer’s Pharmaceuticals Division and Head of the Oncology Strategic Business Unit “We are committed to improving prostate cancer care across all stages of the disease and recognize that for patients and their families quality of life is just as critical as prolonging survival and delaying disease progression We continue in our mission to redefine what it means to live with prostate cancer.” The EU approval is based on the positive results from the Phase III ARASENS trial which demonstrated that darolutamide plus ADT in combination with docetaxel significantly reduced the risk of death by 32.5% compared to ADT with docetaxel the darolutamide combination showed consistent benefits across clinically relevant secondary endpoints with the overall incidence of treatment-emergent adverse events being similar between treatment arms “The approval of Nubeqa in mHSPC in Europe is a major step forward for patients and their treating physicians expanding the treatment options available and our ability to improve clinical outcomes for those living with the disease,” said Prof Professor of Urology at the Université catholique de Louvain (UCL) “This approval is supported by robust data from the ARASENS clinical trial which demonstrate the benefits of darolutamide plus ADT in combination with docetaxel in extending survival delaying disease progression and maintaining quality of life for patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer.” Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in almost all northern and western European countries.1  Only 30% of men with mHSPC will survive five years or more after diagnosis.2 Most men with mHSPC eventually progress to metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) a condition with limited long-term survival.3,4  Nubeqa is being investigated in a broad development program with an additional three ongoing or planned large clinical studies to investigate its potential across prostate cancer patients from the early- to the late-stage of this disease This includes the ARANOTE Phase III trial evaluating darolutamide and ADT versus ADT alone for mHSPC Nubeqa is developed jointly by Bayer and Orion Corporation a globally operating Finnish pharmaceutical company Bayer is responsible for global commercialization with co-promotion from Bayer and Orion Corporation in certain European markets About the ARASENS TrialThe ARASENS trial is the only randomized trial which was prospectively designed to compare the use of a second-generation oral androgen receptor inhibitor (ARi) plus ADT in combination with docetaxel to ADT plus docetaxel (a guideline recommended standard-of-care) in metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) A total of 1,306 newly diagnosed patients were randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive 600 mg of darolutamide twice a day or matching placebo The primary endpoint of this trial was overall survival (OS) Secondary endpoints included time to castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) time to first symptomatic skeletal event (SSE) time to initiation of subsequent anticancer therapy as well as adverse events (AEs) as a measure of safety and tolerability Results from this trial were published in the New England Journal of Medicine.5 A plain language summary publication of these data was published in Future Oncology.6 The ARASENS trial demonstrated that darolutamide plus ADT in combination with docetaxel significantly reduced the risk of death by 32.5% compared to ADT with docetaxel alone.5 Improvements in the secondary endpoints supported the benefit observed in the primary endpoint About Metastatic Hormone-Sensitive Prostate CancerProstate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed malignancy in men worldwide an estimated 1.4 million men were diagnosed with prostate cancer and about 375,000 died from the disease worldwide.7 meaning their cancer is confined to the prostate gland and can be treated with curative surgery or radiotherapy when the disease will metastasize or spread the disease is hormone-sensitive and androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is the cornerstone of treatment Current treatment options for men with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer (mHSPC) include hormone therapy androgen receptor pathway inhibitors plus ADT or a combination of ADT and docetaxel a large proportion of men with mHSPC will eventually experience progression to metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) a condition with high morbidity and limited survival About Nubeqa™ (darolutamide)Nubeqa™ (darolutamide) is an oral androgen receptor inhibitor (ARi) with a distinct chemical structure that binds to the receptor with high affinity and exhibits strong antagonistic activity thereby inhibiting the receptor function and the growth of prostate cancer cells The low potential for blood-brain barrier penetration for darolutamide is supported by preclinical models and neuroimaging data in healthy humans This is supported by the overall low incidence of central nervous system (CNS)-related adverse events (AEs) compared to placebo as seen in the ARAMIS Phase III trial and the improved verbal learning and memory observed in the darolutamide arm of the Phase II ODENZA trial.8 a study to explore the potential of darolutamide in the early setting for patients who have experienced a rise in their prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels following surgery or radiation About Prostate Cancer at you’ve got to get your head in the right direction,” Nygard told the CBC in an interview in 1979 But it didn’t take long for her to regret the decision to work for Nygard She was exposed to the same kind of harassment that many other Nygard employees would report to CBC “My first impression was she was very competent Laursen remembers walking into TanJay headquarters on her first day of work and seeing the walls plastered with posters of Peter Nygard She said Nygard approved almost every decision at the company she was promoted to head up the design at one of his divisions but she said eventually his support came at a price It was on one of those trips where she says her life changed forever Laursen admits the whirlwind itineraries of those trips to Asia are now a blur she believed the incident with Nygard occurred in Taipei and at another point she thought it was in Hong Kong But the details of what happened that night are seared into her memory She remembers being shown her room by the hotel manager In the middle of the night she woke up with a shock she felt like she had no choice but to carry on with the company a senior executive who was travelling with her When The Fifth Estate reached the executive he said he didn’t remember Laursen telling him what happened she said Nygard never physically assaulted her again but she was uneasy every time he was around her Until one day 15 years later when Laursen got a call from a reporter with the Winnipeg Free Press Catherine Mitchell had been working at Winnipeg’s largest daily paper for a decade when the newspaper received a tip that haunts her to this day Three of those women had gone to the Manitoba Human Rights Commission with serious complaints about their boss According to their 1996 report in the Winnipeg Free Press Nygard’s company paid about $20,000 to settle three sexual harassment complaints The complaints against Nygard included adding “skinny dipping” to a meeting agenda that he “frequently was grabbing himself,” and that he would call a female employee into his office while in a “state of undress.” She remembers that the newsroom was “solidly behind pursuing the story,” but the publisher was not The decision was made at the time and we just have to live with it.” CBC News detailed Laursen’s allegations in a letter to Nygard’s lawyers Laursen is not one of the 57 women involved in the class-action lawsuit against Nygard Prober warned the CBC that publishing the Laursen’s allegations would be “grossly unfair and illegal” and threatened to pursue the CBC “criminally” if it proceeded Nygard was not involved in any attempt to stop the publication of a story about unreliable he was given an award by the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce for outstanding Canadian distinction he was given the city’s community service award wealthy and influential men are starting to be held accountable for sexual misconduct A shift began in 2017 when more than 80 women came forward to accuse movie and television producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct he was found guilty and sentenced to 23 years in prison I never think that I really told her the details But yet I feel good about her knowing it.” Laursen and her daughter embrace once again She looks out over the fjord and points to a building in the distance CBC Radio-Canada Sign up for the Breaking Defense newsletter Jake Sims for Australian Defense Ministry) SYDNEY — Australia, in the midst of what could be a hallmark strategic review, has officially delayed any decision on the country’s largest defense program until the review is complete early next year, raising serious questions about whether the program will be reduced in size the top civilian at the Department of Defence saying his department had combed through lessons from the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine and warned of “hard choices” ahead “We do have limited resources — and there will be hard choices to be made about priorities. Defense is committed to communicating with industry early to give certainty for business,” he told a conference at Parliament House in Canberra put on by the Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN), according to Asia-Pacific Defence Reporter “We know that working with industry is the best way to meet the requirements of the ADF and to build the capabilities that we will need for the future.” He reportedly pointed to command and control systems precision strike capabilities and the need for robust logistics systems as key lessons learned from Ukraine His comments made clear the stark strategic background against which the review is being conducted: “Australia needs to be able to preserve our freedom of action and to discourage and deter those seeking to disrupt the international rules-based order — especially through force We see the need for capabilities to deter conflict — and in a worst case scenario The war against Ukraine has highlighted this “has already started thinking about how to implement the DSR [Defense Strategic Review] recommendations.” This will probably require a “comprehensive refresh” of what’s called the Integrated Investment Program a broad swath of new capabilities and sustainment funding in the budget “Some of these [priorities] will need to be accelerated — some other capabilities might be re-profiled The review is expected to be completed in February by the department who will make those choices and is expected to release the results in March Among those programs that could see changes is the Infantry Fighting Vehicle program is to buy 450 IFVs from either South Korea’s Hanwha or Germany’s Rheinmetall But reports have been circulating for months that the number is now likely to be closer to 300 The decision to delay the decision on the IFV until the SDR is released was made Nov 25 by the minister for defense procurement He was the one to decide because Defense Minister Richard Marles recused himself from all decisions on the IFV as Hanwha has a large plant in this home district of Geelong where the Redback would be built should Hanwha win expected to be worth at least $18 billion AUD ($11.5 billion US) One of the top defense procurement experts here Marcus Hellyer of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) said even those like himself who want to see “a lighter more deployable army,” agree they need armor But how much armor the island nation should have and how heavy it should be are key questions he expects the SDR to consider “I don’t know how the force structure the army is now building can be moved to the fight and There are signs the Royal Australian Army may not get as much armor as it wants the well-connected foreign editor of The Australian penned a mid-October op-ed sharply critiquing the army’s plan to buy 72 Abrams tanks and the fighting vehicles We have not deployed a tank outside of Australia or anywhere near combat in more than 50 years,” he wrote “We are planning to acquire 450 of the heaviest combat vehicles in the world We cannot transport them effectively inside Australia as it is We are acquiring infantry vehicles twice as heavy as those of the South Koreans Our ships can carry only tiny quantities of them.” In an interview with Sheridan on Nov. 4, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Australia would instead focus on missiles He appeared to ridicule the basic tenet of the army’s argument that armor will be needed to defend the Australia landmass known generically as the northern strategy since the assumption was that no one could possibly move many forces to attack the island continent’s soft underbelly “Are we going to be involved in a land war in central Queensland Will the SDR make big decisions and refocus Australia’s strategy on long-range fires “It ultimately comes down to the ultimate question that we’re not really good at answering in this country — what are we really trying do with our military?” Hellyer said where each service gets almost exactly as much as the others will be bureaucratically and politically perilous Moriarity said that the government is already focused on building resilient supply chains along with acquiring stockpiles of high-end consumables Resources — in other words money — will need to be found for this Every existing program already has a sizeable constituency ready to defend it and a long-established precedent that no single service gets much more than the others That would seem to either mean personnel costs need to be cut to buy new weapons — the traditional American approach to tight budgets — or larger programs without a constituency so far Sign up and get Breaking Defense news in your inbox There were multiple violent incidents in the Netherlands overnight and two got hurt in separate stabbings in Etten-Leur and Rozenburg And two people got injured in shootings in Venlo and Muiden The police responded to a report of a stabbing in a home on Leurse Dijk in Etten-Leur at around 5:00 a.m. on Friday. finally the government will need to increase its long-term capital spending to stimulate the economy and accelerate its recovery securing these funds will not be an easy task for the Jordanian government Jordan suffers from a chronic fiscal deficit and mounting public debt The spending needed will increase the country’s public debt to risky levels that may jeopardize its credit rating the main challenge will be the debt source and its cost: the options of getting this credit are few because the liquidity of international credit markets is drying up due to financial shock caused by COVID-19 The main options will be getting concessional loans from the World Bank and the IMF the option will be getting credit from the local banks getting credit from the local banks will exasperate the SMEs’ financing issues if the government is crowding them for the funds available in Jordan’s local credit market Increased economic hardships for Jordan and perhaps a recession will be inevitable what Jordan will need to look for is the acceleration of economic recovery it needs to fight its economic battle maybe even harder than the health battle Jordan needs to stimulate the sectors that were not impacted by the COVID-19 crisis the Jordanian ICT sector was able to keep its businesses running where it was able to activate remote working and continue to export services Such sectors could be the key drivers of the Jordanian economy if they were given the needed incentives to boost their production these sectors could also absorb the newly unemployed workers of the sectors that were negatively impacted by COVID-19 customs duty exemptions and perhaps subsidies to the private sector Yet these stimulus packages will be of tremendous cost to government finances and may add long-term pressure on the government’s budget Jordan is living unprecedentedly exceptional days that necessitate exceptional measures Jordan needs to be brave in stimulating the economy in the short run and much braver in implementing market reform in the future This content was created by ISPI MED online analysts French-language rap is having a political reawakening was acquitted last year of charges of inciting religious hatred against Muslims while French aid worker Moussa Tchantchiung was arrested and detained in Bangladesh in December while working with Rohingya refugees Criticism of the government for not doing more to defend the Muslim French citizen became a cause; ABC News News HomeHarvey Weinstein: The jokes we missed in 30 Rock Entourage and from Seth McFarlaneShare Harvey Weinstein: The jokes we missed in 30 Rock Entourage and from Seth McFarlaneTopic:Arts Harvey Weinstein has produced or distributed a number of Oscar-winning movies Link copiedShareShare articleFive years ago there was a line in an episode of 30 Rock that alluded to Harvey Weinstein having a reputation for asking actresses for sexual favours It was a quick jab, buried in a wider plot line about show business, but is now being used as an example of how Weinstein's alleged behaviour has been an "open secret" in Hollywood for years "I'm not afraid of anyone in show business," says actress Jenna Maroney "I turned down intercourse with Harvey Weinstein on no less than three occasions … out of five." And it's not the only reference to Weinstein's alleged behaviour that's been laughed off in the past Take this joke made by comedian Seth McFarlane after announcing the 2012 Oscar nominees for best supporting actress: And then there was the intimidating and aggressive "Harvey Weingard" played by Maury Chaykin in HBO's Entourage a character widely believed to have been inspired by Weinstein You're gonna beg to get back into the pizza business," Weingard yells in one scene But even Judi Dench, who has had a running joke with Weinstein for years that she has a tattoo of his name on her bottom, says she was "completely unaware" of the alleged offences. "Whilst there is no doubt that Harvey Weinstein has helped and championed my film career for the past 20 years, I was completely unaware of these offences which are, of course, horrifying and I offer my sympathy to those who have suffered, and wholehearted support to those who have spoken out," she said in a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly. But Kate Winslet, who won an Oscar for The Weinstein Company's The Reader, appeared to confirm in her statement that there had been rumours about Weinstein for some time. "I had hoped that these kind of stories were just made-up rumours, maybe we have all been naïve," she wrote. Weinstein has apologised for causing "a lot of pain" with his behaviour in the past, but his spokeswoman Sallie Hofmeister says he denies "any allegations of non-consensual sex". Not just the great, world-changing events like the World Wars or the Bubonic Plague but it’s important to remember local history. I guarantee you, wherever you are in the world, be it a sprawling city you can find fascinating and oftentimes surprising stories that have been fallen into obscurity Castles have been a point of interest for centuries They have captured people’s imagination through their grandeur Whether it be Count Dracula or Game of Thrones castles have provided the setting for numerous stories So today, with this in mind, we are going to delve into the history of two different castles in the Netherlands dramatic and disturbing stories of all the castles in the Netherlands Located at the mouth of the Vecht river, some 15 kilometres south-east of Amsterdam Muiden Castle (Muiderslot) was built by Count Floris V in 1280 Floris was the Count of Holland and Zeeland from 1256 until his death in 1296 He ruled peacefully (for the most part) and is credited with modernizing administration reclaiming land from the sea and generally acting in the interests of the common man When King Edward I of England moved his wool trade from Dordrecht in Holland to Mechelen in Brabant in order to gain Flanders’s support against France Floris decided to switch sides and ally with the French This incensed the English King into ordering nobles who had previously suffered at the hands of Floris Gerard van Velsen and the lords of Amstel and Woerden along with several other nobles attacked and kidnapped the Count while he was out hunting He was taken back to Muiden Castle and kept there until the conspirators caught wind of a rescue attempt organised by the people They attempted to leave the castle but were stopped by an angry mob van Velsen rode back to the horse where Floris was bound and gagged and drew his sword The Count fell to the ground and van Velsen stabbed him 22 times he was unwilling for the Count to escape alive as he rumour had it the Count had once raped van Velsen’s wife either by being quartered or rolled down the street in a barrel lined with nails The castle was demolished by the year 1300 It was rebuilt between 1370 and 1386 and eventually fell into the hands of the legendary Dutch author who had taken on sheriff and bailiff duties in the area Hooft spent his summers in the castle and invited great academics and artists such as Joost van der Vondel Sir Constantijn Huygens and Gerbrand Bredero to his home Here the castle saw the founding of the Muiderkring a literary society for these esteemed academics and artists Kasteel Waardenburg is another castle that hides secret and mysteries within its walls The castle was built after Count Otto II of Guelders pledged the manor of Waardenburg in 1265 to a knight named Rudolph de Cock the infamous Doctor Faust came to own the castle Faust had recently met the Devil himself at a crossroads and he made a pact with the Prince of Darkness In exchange for worldly pleasures and an unlimited capacity for knowledge Faust would give his soul to the Devil after seven years black magic and dark experiments the Devil finally returned to claim what was his He sneaked up on Faust and grabbed him by his hair and hauled him from the castle’s tower Legend has it you can still see the bloodstains on the floor outside the tower to this day Castle Waardenburg also has a lot of historical significance where the old United Provinces (today’s Netherlands Belgium and Luxembourg) under the leadership of William the Silent The owner of the castle at the time sided with the Spanish He laid siege to the castle and destroyed the south side and bailey were completely destroyed and never rebuilt which explains why the castle is shaped like a horseshoe today I hope you enjoyed these stories about Muiden Castle and Castle Waardenburg I think it’s important to share these stories as they reflect important parts of our history and in some cases While some of these stories might not be entirely genuine (specifically the Doctor Faust story) they are a reflection of people and their capacity to entertain through the medium of storytelling You are using an outdated browser.
