One of the most popular electric bicycle manufacturing companies in the Netherlands
has requested protection from its creditors as the business is struggling financially
the Financeele Dagblad reported on Tuesday
The fate of the company’s 440 employees and 50 retail outlets is now up in the air
The move to defer payments can often lead to a Dutch company declaring bankruptcy
has said that they think it would be irresponsible to invest more money into the company
It was reported that around a thousand customers have already paid for a bicycle but have not yet received one
Stella has stated that they are doing their utmost to "accommodate" these people
the company will have to depend on a yet-to-be-appointed administrator
A reorganization at Stella last year led to dozens of jobs being lost
and many business activities in foreign countries were discontinued
Although 38,000 bicycles have been sold this year
it has not been enough to stave away financial issues
and increasing price-driven competition have all led to financial issues
Stella Fietsen was founded in 2011 in Nunspeet and grew significantly at a fast pace in the Dutch bicycle sector
It has around 440 employees working in 38 retail outlets in the Netherlands and 12 in Belgium

Wim Prins had already been bitten by the bug that is Alfa Romeo
and his passion soon developed into an entrepreneurial ambition
I opened a workshop on my mother’s farm,” recalls Prins
What began in that backyard steadily became an authorised representative of the company in the Netherlands
and Wim Prins has now been regarded a marque specialist for the past quarter-century
however: the opening of a modern showroom and website has seen his Dutch outfit steadily expand its business
2005 saw the formation of ‘PrinsEsclusivo’
a banner under which Prins also offers modern limos and sports cars from the likes of Porsche
Maserati and Aston Martin; it is also one of four official Abarth dealerships in the Netherlands
the ‘PrinsClassic’ was formed as a foray into the lucrative classic car business – and a further expansion of this division is on the horizon
Ferrari or Porsche – the team at Wim Prins promises its customers a competent and personal service
“and we’re just as enthusiastic as any of our clients
It’s very important to establish a basis of trust with each of them individually.” It’s also clear that Prins is a man of commitment and heart – not only evidenced by his impressive business
but also his support of such projects as ‘René Kids Centre’
which helps impoverished children in Namibia

participants of the World Solving Cup (WSC) will have to choose between two competitions happening at the same time
the open championships of the Netherlands and Poland
What should they know to make the right choice
The Dutch Solving Championship (March 4) is shorter and usually less challenging than the Polish one
the annual meeting of Dutch chess problemists
traditionally held in the small town of Nunspeet (March 3-5)
composers and lovers of chess problems and studies come together in a friendly but competitive environment
solving tournaments and composing tourneys
A quiz keeps the participants busy in the quiet hours
and there are plenty of occasions for walking
It is not obligatory to stay the entire weekend
and the interested club player can come over for a few hours to try his hand at one of the tournaments
Saturday morning is reserved for the Dutch Solving Championship: 3 hours for solving 12 problems
with some of the best solvers in the world participating
National championships are open for all the guests nowadays
most of them being the legs of the World Solving Cup
but the domestic title holders are distinguished separately
The Dutch record holder is Dolf Wissmann with 14 domestic titles (nine of them in a row!) in 27 championships since 1995, ahead of Peter van den Heuvel with 8, but the last two championships were won by Twan Burg. Dolf is coming back home fresh from winning the Finnish Solving Championship in Helsinki last month and will be looking to earn more points in the overall standings of WSC 2022/23
There is also a section with easier problems for an occasional solver
More relaxed is the speed of solving (two-movers and studies) on Saturday evening
The weekend finishes on Sunday morning with the ARVES study-solving tournament: 6 studies in 2 hours
The winner must be accurate and fast because these endgames are not extremely difficult
Many GMs have tested themselves in this competition, and some past winners include GMs John Nunn, Twan Burg and David Klein. However, in 2019 ARVES competition WGM Anne Haast (pictured below) outdid all the men
All details about the tournaments and the complete program can be found on the websites of Probleemblad (Nederlandse Bond van Schaakprobleemvrienden) and ARVES (Chess Endgamestudy Association)
The atmosphere will be less relaxed in Sękocin Stary (near Warsaw)
where Polish solvers challenge guests to compete with multiple World & European solving champions
The International Polish Championship will take place from March 4-5
with three rounds each day and a total time of 6 hours for 18 problems
The strong field of this two-day event includes members of the Polish national team and the current world chess-solving champions (pictured on the stage of the Fujairah WCSC 2022)
the reigning World Champions: Kacper Piorun
Piotr Murdzia and Piotr Gorski | Photo Fujairah Chess & Culture Club
The problems in Poland are usually more difficult than average
Below you will find two selected positions from the previous championship:
HINT: Can White take advantage of the black king’s position
The first thing to do in three-movers is to find possible checks Black can do on the 1st or 2nd move
which may delay or make White’s goal impossible
This is why the White key move should contain a threat with check; e.g we can try 1
Rdd5 with the check threat of 2.Rde5+ Bxe5 3.Rxe5#
Poland is the most successful country in chess solving
the Polish team won 12 World and 5 European gold medals
you may meet the defending champion of Poland Piotr Murdzia
a holder of 22 national titles and eight individual World Champion titles
There will also be the five-time World Champion Kacper Piorun and Piotr Górski
It will be highly challenging for any guest to win on Polish soil
but the high average rating and the high WSC category of the competition will offer a chance to earn more points for the World Solving Cup
The Polish championship is completely adjusted to the system of the World Chess Solving Championship (WCSC) and has the utmost importance in selecting the members of the national team in the upcoming European Chess Solving Championship 2023 and World Chess Solving Championship 2023
It also determines national winners in the following categories: open
juniors up to 23 years and seniors over 60
The detailed regulations
original for Polish Championship 2022; end of the study: 1.f4+ Kg4 2.Rf5!
De Waarheid 1962: 1.Qe3 threat 2.Qh6+ Rf6 3.Nf8#; 1…Bf4 2.Rh6+ B:h6 3.Q:e4#; 1…Rf4 2.Q:e4+ R:e4 3.Rh6#; 1…Nf4 2.Re5+ d:e5 3.Qb6#; 1…Rf6 2.Nc5+ d:c5 3.c8Q(B)#; 1…d5 2.Qb6+ Bd6 3.Re5#

GEA is to equip a milk powder line for hypoallergenic infant formula with the latest process and heat pump technology
Using an innovative heat recovery from the spray dryer and further processes
the plant will use 75 percent less energy for steam and massively reduce carbon emissions
GEA is supporting Nestlé on its path to net zero by making the energy supply to Nestlé production facilities emission-free by 2050
In response to increased demand for its Althera and Alfare infant formula brands
Nestlé is currently doubling production capacity at the Nunspeet plant with an additional processing line
GEA will also equip the complete wet processing technology
which supplies the Nestlé spray drying line with the prepared milk
Installation of the process technology and heat supply system is planned for this year
Recovering waste heat from spray dryer to reduce energy consumption
Nestlé’s aim with the investment project is not only to increase capacity
but also to advance its sustainability agenda by reducing carbon emissions
Exploiting renewable heat energy is a focus of the company’s climate strategy
“The new plant in Nunspeet will also serve as a Group-wide demonstrator for future-oriented solutions to minimize energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in milk powder production
We are already familiar with heat pumps in various production processes
the most energy-intensive part of the process
The GEA system enables us to reduce the plant’s steam consumption by 75%,” explains Gerben Koopmans
the project is executed with subsidy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate
Integrating process and heating/cooling technology
“Our integrated solutions combining process technology with heating and cooling technology set a new benchmark in milk powder production
because fusing the two disciplines in production planning and design implementation significantly reduces the plant’s energy consumption and carbon footprint,” says Ronald Hofland

Daan Hoole second and Sjoerd Bax third in Elspeet
Jos van Emden (Jumbo-Visma) won the elite men’s time trial at the Dutch Road Championships for a third time on Wednesday
The 38-year-old was 18 seconds faster than silver medalist Daan Hoole (Trek-Segafredo)
14 years his junior who was third last year
Defending champion Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) fell short of a return to the red
Each of the 32 starters for the elite men rolled down the start ramp in the central square in Elspeet and returned to city to finish on Apeldoornseweg
They covered two laps of 21km each through the relatively flat terrain of central Netherlands
then winding south to Staverden and a return to Elspeet
Van Emden set the fastest intermediate time after the first lap and then added to his winning margin on the back half.
I felt things were going well after my COVID infection in May
although I realised during the race that I was riding a good time trial
Mathieu Heijboer in the follow car was also enthusiastic
This victory is fantastic and a highlight in my career.”
Last year Van Emden was fourth at nationals
This year he has competed in five races against the clock in various stage races and his best finish was eighth in the prologue at ZLM Tour in early June

E-bike brand Stella Fietsen was officially declared bankrupt on Friday. This was confirmed by a spokesperson for the court in Gelderland after initial reporting in AD. Stella Fietsen had requested a deferral of payment earlier this week
Bankruptcy and labor law expert Frans van Oss was appointed as the curator guiding the next steps in the process
Van Oss said that about ten candidates have come forward for a possible restart of the company and that more information about how this should take place will become available on Friday afternoon
He added that some of these parties seem more serious than others
but they would not look into which takeover candidates can play a role in the restart of the company until after Friday
Stella Fietsen stores have been closed since Tuesday
Consumers who have already paid for a new bicycle but are still waiting for delivery will have to be patient for a while
The curator will be looking into the possibilities for the company with the owner
legally this is difficult.” Van Oss expects to be able to provide some clarity regarding this in a week
Stella Fietsen was founded in 2011 and suffered millions of euros in losses this year and last
The company itself points to difficult conditions in the electric bicycle market as the cause
There is no prospect of recovery in the short term

a man was driving along motorway A28 in the scenic town of Harderwijk (Gelderland
he noticed the car parallel to his moving erratically
it seemed as though the woman was feeling sick and had fallen unconscious
Veering onto the grass before getting back up on the road
one couldn’t predict what was about to happen
The man thought the guardrails sticking out from the side of the road would provide some impact to stop the car — but he was wrong
the dashcam footage from the car tailing hers reveals the potential damage that would have occurred had this accident not been averted
How can one pilot another’s car to safety while it rolls at full speed with the driver blacked out
As more time went by and the car kept moving full speed ahead, Temmermans had to come up with a quick and effective plan on the spot. He overtook the woman's car, drove ahead for a while, and right when it was approaching his tail end, he pushed on the brakes.
The car rammed into Temmermans' boot, stopping its escapade.
The motorist, whose dashcam footage shows us the whole incident, pulls up behind the two vehicles as well. Temmermans quickly rushes out of his car, peeks into the one after his, and beckons for help. "He [the other motorist] called 112, and then we looked in the car together. I saw that she had vomited. I still felt a heartbeat in her neck, so that reassured me," Temmermans reported.
Both men waited patiently with the woman; it only took 10 minutes for emergency services to arrive at the scene. Temmermans called out to her, cajoling her to wake up. She eventually did. Upon being rushed to the hospital, it was found that she had broken 5 of her ribs in the accident. Her husband and daughter profusely thanked Temmermans for saving the lady's life. Although it remains unclear why she fell ill in the first place, that was not the most pressing thought in the moment.
Reacting to the public outpouring of love, Temmermans mentioned, "People say on social media that they are proud of me, call me a hero. But I don't see myself that way. You are obliged to help people in need. I did what I had to do." He had to get his car towed afterwards, since it wasn't in any condition to be driven. While he earned several accolades — as he rightfully should — several users expressed concern over their insurance.
Another user pointed out a superb safety feature that should be considered as a crucial aspect of modern cars:
