transport company Hermus International has continued to expand year on year
Trucks depart from Oud-Gastel to customers all over Europe
The transport company transports a range of products from the AGF sector and we also have many customers in confectionery
"What makes us unique is that we are not limited to one particular country and transport both groupage and full loads," says co-owner Jeroen van Leijsen
we mainly provide groupage transport in the Benelux and Germany and we also drive full freights to countries such as Switzerland
van Dijk TransportHermus International is particularly well-represented in the German market
Several trucks depart daily for the Ruhr region and southern Germany
"Regions we focus on are mainly the Ruhr area up to Mannheim and Berlin
we supply all DCs up to the wholesale markets on a daily basis," Jeroen says
He says the recently introduced border controls in Germany are not causing too much inconvenience yet
"Occasionally our drivers are caught in traffic jams because of this
It's not that any drivers are standing still for hours because of this."
The transport company experienced a nice growth in recent years
"What we hear from many customers is that they really appreciate our flexibility
we don't limit ourselves to a certain destination and we always try to find a solution

Peak between March and OctoberBesides its trucks
Hermus International often has around 15 to 20 charters running during the season
"Our season runs parallel to the Dutch fruit and vegetable season
That peak is therefore between March and October
We often catch the winter period with customers in the cuttings and sweets business
but now it seems to be getting quieter slowly," Jeroen says
AGF customers' loyalty to their transporter is generally high
"What you do see is that especially the larger parties do not bet on one transporter
but select several carriers for certain areas."
but also new legislation around driving hours
"It is not easy to find enough drivers for the job
but we also employ several foreign drivers
the increase in the Maut last year was significant and this affects the market."
three of which we can use as LHVs (Longer and Heavier Trucks)
which we are also allowed to drive in Germany
It allows us to transport more cargo per trip
which means a significant reduction in CO₂ emissions per kilometer
So we drive greener and more efficiently and can serve more customers."
"Our equipment is always well-maintained and meets the latest environmental requirements
we have recently taken a step towards automation
including on-board computers in cars and digitalization of the paper flow
but the processes behind the scenes have not grown with us
We have therefore invested heavily in this so that we can continue to deliver efficiently and reliably to our customers in the future."

the Public Prosecution Service (OM) has reported
A total of 30 suspects have been arrested for these crimes
Most were the perpetrators of the violence

The drugs were imported into Belgium on August 29
The shipment was then stolen there and divided in a warehouse in Oud Gastel
A part of the drugs were imported into a warehouse in Ter Aar at the beginning of October
It was then stolen again from there on the evening of October 10
Fires were started in the Chicagostraat in The Hague and the Herenstraat in Rijswijk
An investigation showed that the residents in the areas were not involved in the crime world conflict
The people involved in the violence were mainly friends or family of the people involved in the theft in Belgium
Violence in and around Alphen aan den Rijn and Leiden followed the second theft
The owner of the warehouse in Ter Aar and one of his employees
Whether the owner of the warehouse knew that the drugs were being kept there is still under investigation

2023 Indoor pools may be the only option Photo: Depositphotos.comDespite this week’s tropical temperatures throughout the Netherlands
many of the country’s outdoor pools have already closed for the season
“We have already started flushing the pipes to prepare everything for winter,” Leo Holierhoek, manager of De Meermin swimming pool in Steenbergen, told Omroep Brabant
Although temperatures that are expected to hit 30 degrees
but we will still keep the gate closed,” said Holierhoek
“This is really disappointing with the temperatures this week,” added Nicky Lankhuijzen
manager of the Blankershove swimming pool in Oud Gastel
He has already had some 40 calls asking whether the swimming pool can stay open longer
the extra costs of keeping the pool open are not in proportion to the revenue it would bring in
season ticket holders would then have to buy a 5-euro ticket
because their season ticket was valid until Sunday
the swimming pool will be open for the traditional “dog splash” on Friday and Saturday
when owners can take a dip with their furry friends
it may be time to hit the lakes and beaches
