you might feel like checking out an Easter market in the Netherlands
Stroll past various booths with a spring atmosphere and various wares that will help you prepare your home for the new season
Easter markets often have a fresh and relaxed atmosphere
Here are some Easter markets we found throughout the Netherlands
which will be taking place during the Easter Weekend in 2025:
This flea market on Parklaan in Rotterdam is full of Easter atmosphere and handmade goodies
The picturesque Lange Voorhout in The Hague hosts the four-day Home Made Easter Market with almost 100 booths with all kinds of wares
from art and accessories to antiques and oddities
another market takes place on Lange Vijverburg during Easter weekend
Every year on Easter Monday, Nijmegen organises a fair in the city centre with all kinds of booths and activities
an art fair and various children’s games are only some of the attractions
so combining the market with a general day out in Nijmegen is a popular day out on this date
At least 150 booths at the Boulevard in Vlissingen offer wares from jewellery to waffles
and add a stroll on the beach to your day of shopping
The city Born in Limburg has its own Easter Festival
complete with a market with hundreds of booths in the town centre
Tens of thousands of visitors attend this popular event every year
Another one in Limburg: Panningen, near Eindhoven
making it the largest Easter market in the Netherlands
Over 25.000 people attend in the city centre every year
while the charming town’s population is less than a third of that number
Easter is a pleasant time to go to a market as the weather improves and the hours of daylight increase
so plan your visit to one of the many fantastic Easter markets in the Netherlands on Easter Sunday or Easter Monday

It may take some time for all of the secondary school students in the Netherlands to get used to the fact that they are generally no longer allowed to have their mobile phones in the classroom
but many schools have indicated that their initial experiences are positive
various schools said when contacted by ANP
Headmaster Frank Engelen of Niftarlake College in Maarssen
"with some exceptions here and there." Last week
between 50 and 70 students had to surrender their mobile phones to school staff because they were not complying with the ban
Students serving on the school's Participation Council and their Student Council have also observed positive effects with the measure
which took effect nationally at the start of the year
"They indicate that they are coming into contact with each other more often
At Bouwens van der Boijecollege in Panningen
a mobile phone ban already came into effect in September
It was initially rolled out with students entering their first year at the secondary school
and it was expanded to include the entire school when students returned from the winter break
Students have had to either leave the phone at home or lock them up once school started back up after the holidays
and it is going "wonderfully well," Lukassen said
we have had to take in fewer than 10 telephones from almost 1,400 students
Students are really talking to each other again," she continued
"They are bringing playing cards for the break
and a Discman was even seen for listening to music."
repeat offenders "will receive a follow-up sanction
Niftarlake College determined the new rules in consultation with the teachers
They still allows students to use their mobile phones in the areas where they take breaks
As soon as they enter the hallways to the classrooms
the telephone must already be put away in their locker
The student can collect it from reception later in the afternoon
the telephones were first placed in telephone bags within the classrooms
because the students were distracted just knowing that their phones were nearby
Some Bouwens students also did not dare to express themselves freely because they were afraid of being filmed or photographed by classmates
This weekend sees two AFC Youth Academy sides fly out to The Netherlands to take on elite academies in two prestigious tournaments
The 2003’s will face Dutch sides and other clubs from Europe as well as Brazil and Japan in an eight-team competition and the 2007’s are in a twelve-team competition with teams from Ajax
Both tournaments are completely separate with the 2003 squad based near the Dutch city of Utrecht and the 2007’s venturing near the German border in Panningen
The two-day tournaments will offer group and knockout competition and are strictly invitation only so AFC are in good company but won’t be there to just make up the numbers and are relishing the opportunity to test themselves against top clubs
Gavin Levey spoke at length about this weekend’s tournaments and about the privilege of being recognised in such high regard at youth level
because we’re getting more exposure at tournaments in Europe year on year
we’re getting more prestigious invitations as well
It’s important that our kids are exposed to playing in Club Academy Scotland and playing against the best teams in this country
but we’ve got to show them that there’s another level above that as well
The important thing to remember is enjoy the opening ceremony and look around the teams next to you because you’re standing beside the likes of Ajax
RB Leipzig etc so pinch yourself because this is where we’re at just now
There are less opportunities for Scottish clubs to play competitive competition at academy level so the young Dons often venture to the continent throughout the year to compete in elite level tournaments and Gavin believes this added pressure will help the youngsters moving forward
but you’re going to get winners and losers and that’s life in any other sport
When we go away to these tournaments every other country is playing competitively every week and you can tell
we need to look at different forms of competition
“We know we have to continue to compete at the best level we can if we’re going to get back to these tournaments and we want this experience to last as long as it can do
We can’t become complacent because if we go there and aren’t grateful for what we have then we won’t get back
Gavin is a huge advocate for clubs in Scotland playing competitive fixtures in academies more regularly and hopes this weekend will show what the game in this country has perhaps been missing
“We ended up organising our own tournament in January
and we had a great environment played in the right spirit and the feedback was fantastic
but these countries are playing regularly and
unless you’re playing for Scotland U16’s in the Victory Shield you’ll not play competitively.”
Good luck to both teams over the weekend in The Netherlands
