Tjitska Theadora “Thea” Kranzo
peacefully passed on surrounded by her beloved family and dogs at home on Friday
She was born to Gonnie Konneman Siekmans and the late Tjitze Siekmans in Hoogezand-Sappemeer
Thea frequently recounted her habitual bicycle rides to work and to school while cherishing the seasons when the weather would allow her to ice skate on the canals to neighboring towns
Her energetic movement nurtured in her young years
paralleled with her holistically spiritual grounding
captivated the essence of her very being throughout her lifetime
Thea had the innate courage to come to the United States speaking barely any English
her life in America began with the genuine embrace of Wegmans
Her native Dutch and German tongues were wholly respected until Thea eagerly learned English through coworkers and shoppers alike
Accomplishing American citizenship and learning to drive stateside was a marvelous feat
Three families shaped Thea’s story: her heritage in the Netherlands
To be a gateway to joy was Thea’s subconscious aura
She touched thousands of people’s lives; pointedly
Thea created her own ‘care cards’ at home to place in shoppers’ grocery bags to brighten their days at work
“Have a nice day” or whimsical messages to home shoppers had no intentions other than to lighten another’s load
Thea was chronically donating her own children’s clothes to other employees who she knew needed that bit of help
There was not a heart Thea didn’t love
she went the extra mile without a care for one’s preconceived role
There were no barriers in Thea’s mind
Thea enjoyed backpacking in the Adirondacks
She read and re-read the Michael and Kathleen Greer series in Dutch to no end
only to be more committed to her impressive Hay Day mobile gaming
she achieved elite records and shared her winnings with others
International friendships were born out of her gaming connections
Thea’s kindness toward others permeated into the earth
She had an affinity for gardening and took pleasure in hours of weeding
Thea’s radiant air of bequeathing energy will be deeply missed by her adored husband
Gea (Lammert) and Demelza (Robert); her nieces and nephews
It deserves mention that Thea was a spiritual person
as she believed in the grandeur of the person in the mirror
Thea stayed spiritually true to the Netherlands way – ‘Hoop Geloof en Liefde’ – Hope
Continue to spread Thea’s light with this truth
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 3-6 pm Wednesday
memorials may be made to your favorite charity in support of animals
an organization that assists in preserving local trails

Yarra Junction resident Henk Boer is publishing an autobiography that will be launched at Milwarra Primary School hall on Saturday 22 June at 2pm
Mr Boer’s family arrived in Australia from Netherlands 69 years ago from May seeking a new life away from post-WWII Europe
Mr Boer’s book details his life story
which includes growing up in the 1930s and 1940s in Sappemeer
a small town 30 kilometres away from Nazi Germany’s border
“I started by looking at the history of the town where I lived called Sappemeer
which translates to swamp lake,” he said
“My very early personal recollections are from the world wide depression and the second world war
which made a very big impact on me … I had very little schooling as a result.”
Mr Boer said that his family witnessed the realities and horrors of the bloodiest war in the history of mankind
His school sat alongside a railway line that was used to transport thousands of Jews to concentration camps
Despite Netherlands being liberated in 1945
while the potential threat of a Soviet invasion was enough for the Boer family to travel by boat to Australia
Mr Boer landed in Fremantle five weeks later
where he found work in a bakery just one day after landing in the new country
His family eventually settled in Wandin where he met his wife Gwen and went on to own Warburton’s first takeaway food store
a fish and chip shop called Boer Bros Food Wholesalers
Mr Boer welcomes those interested to come along to his book launch in Millgrove
which he said will feature many elements of Dutch culture
He hopes that readers can walk away with a strong sense of family values
Yarra Ranges Councillor Jim Child will be in attendance to launch the book and Andy Bennett will be the MC for the day
His autobiography features over 600 historical photographs which will be available on a DVD included with each purchase of the book
