2024 which concluded on the evening of October 26 in the Netherlands Vietnam was represented by two players—Tran Quyet Chien and Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu—who both reached the semifinals Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu faced another billiards legend Facing the player known globally as “The Extraterrestrial,” Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu performed impressively maintaining a lead throughout most of the game his inexperience under high-stakes pressure became evident in the decisive moments and his nerves ultimately could not match the resilience of the former world No.1 in both UMB and PBA rankings Thanh Tu missed a high-percentage four-cushion shot allowing Caudron to score a 4-point series Thanh Tu’s nerves led to two more similar errors on otherwise straightforward shots Tran Quyet Chien faced Belgium’s Peter Ceulemans in a match that started strongly in his favor Vietnam’s top billiards player delivered an impressive 8-point series Despite Ceulemans' efforts to close the gap he struggled against Tran Quyet Chien's steady Tran ultimately claimed victory with a 50-37 score advancing him to the final against Frederic Caudron a highly anticipated clash between two former world No.1 players missing points in his first five turns while Frederic Caudron quickly took the lead with 7 points skillfully turning the tide and pulling ahead 11-7 by his eighth turn with both players alternating in the lead until Tran Quyet Chien gained a narrow advantage at 35-34 allowing Tran Quyet Chien to extend his lead to 41-34 Though Caudron briefly closed the gap to 38-44 he was unable to regain momentum and missed scoring in three more turns ultimately winning with a final score of 50-38 Tran Quyet Chien earned 16,000 euros (approximately VND400 million) and celebrated his fourth World Cup win propelling him back to the No.2 position in the UMB world rankings Ministry of Information and Communications Vietnamese player Tran Quyet Chien secured the UMB Veghel World Cup start of the final but Chien not only missed the starting shot he also missed four more times before opening his counterattack with seven The Vietnamese player took the lead at 20-17 Chien had the better final rush when Caudron made seven misses in nine innings in the final phase The final score came to 50-38 in 28 innings Tu and Ceulemans shared the third position Along with the World Cup championship title Chien pocketed 16,000 Euros (17,300 USD) and leads the 2024 World Cup rankings The current world ranking is still led by Jaspers ahead of Chien with 380 points and Myung with 342 (ITR) invited the travel retail media to its Dutch chocolate bar factory in the southern town of Veghel earlier this week to tour the facility and learn more about Mars Wrigley’s sustainability programmes at a newly opened on-site Cocoa Experience The Veghel plant is the world’s largest chocolate bar factory and Mars Wrigley’s biggest production site making popular travel retail brands such as Snickers Opened in 1963 and celebrating its 60th anniversary this year the factory manufactures nearly 24 million chocolate bars a day 100% of the cocoa purchased for Mars Wrigley’s direct factory operations in Europe is now verified as ‘responsibly sourced cocoa’ Mars Wrigley announced a 10-year €100m investment project to increase efficiency and expand capacity at the Veghel plant the factory’s sustainability credentials are impressive Zero waste from the factory goes to landfill and the plant’s water purification system generates energy AI technology has been introduced at the factory to work alongside the human workforce the new ‘twin’ AI system can predict and optimise production processes and equipment performance from reliability to quality to energy efficiency Visit Cocoa Experience with Corporate Affairs Director ITR Roel Govers Mars Wrigley Corporate Affairs Director ITR Roel Govers presented journalists with an outline of the company’s Cocoa for Generations Strategy It launched in 2018 and aims to protect children from forced labour and invest in their education; empower women to take a greater role stake in the cocoa industry; increase farmers’ incomes and strengthen their resilience to cocoa price volatility and work towards 100% deforestation-free cocoa through best-practice agroforestry management and scientific research into making cocoa more resilient against pests Govers explained that the traditional cocoa supply chain in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana where Mars sources most of its cocoa was highly complex vulnerable to external shocks such as climate change and not easily remediable by simplistic solutions cocoa passes through many hands before finally arriving on duty-free store shelves– local and international traders processors and the chocolate companies themselves Mars Wrigley is making substantial progress “We are on track to reach our goal of 100% of our cocoa being sourced through our responsible cocoa program and traceable by 2025.” women have traditionally been marginalised but Mars Wrigley has teamed up with charity NGO Care International to create the Women for Change programme The programme aims to increase gender equity in households and communities improved school enrolment rates and increased nutrition Mars ITR Sales Director Marcus Hudson admitted that the company had not communicated its wider efforts on sustainability but this was about to change: “We get challenged quite a bit We know that consumers want to understand these things more and we need to make it more accessible for them I can’t overestimate what a shift it’s actually been for Mars to be public about how much we are doing The culture of Mars has traditionally been quite private this is a big shift for us to actually start to talk about the next stages and potentially leverage it with consumers who want to know about these things before they make a choice to buy.” Hudson revealed the company was transforming its portfolio to tackle the challenge of packaging waste redesigning our remaining packaging for circularity We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars to reimagine and redesign the materials we use almost half of our packaging portfolio is undergoing redesign or elimination There are various initiatives being launched in scale markets globally and these will make their way to travel retail.” Tagged our organisation’s strategic plan: people Jonas Abrahamsson has shown the strength to steer the company towards its long-term sustainable goals Abrahamsson has ensured that Swedavia achieved its net zero target for all ten of the airports in 2020 and has continued to support strategic development and innovation to further the cause of sustainable air travel when passenger numbers where down over 90 per cent and a lot of investments were paused he decided that investments in the company’s net zero target should proceed allowing Swedavia to become the first net zero airport group by the end of Princess Beatrix is currently visiting the Caribbean islands of Curaçao and Aruba Stichting Carmabi (Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity) the Rif Sint Marie - Hermanus nature reserve was on the program The princess was briefed on Carmabi's plans to collaborate with the residents of Willibrordus and the surrounding area to create a different form of nature experience in this region.  Rif Sint Marie - Hermanus Nature Reserve  there is a unique nature reserve that was designated as recognized Ramsar area #2120 in 2013 under the name Rif Sint Marie It is one of the five Ramsar areas that Curaçao possesses and must be protected as an internationally significant wetland informed the princess that this area is particularly unique because within a relatively short distance of 667 hectares there is one of the least disturbed and best coral reefs in the Caribbean there is a seagrass ecosystem that leads to a saltwater lake The water is surrounded by a mangrove ecosystem and a semi-arid dry tropical forest you will hardly find anywhere else in the world such compact biodiversity in a relatively undisturbed and undeveloped environment.  Middle Curaçao Biosphere Reserve  the island of Curaçao initiated the "Middle Curaçao Biosphere Reserve" through the UNESCO Man and Biosphere program The Rif Sint Marie - Hermanus Park forms the core of this biosphere along with the Ramsar area of Malpais - Sint Michiel Carmabi biologist Erik Houtepen captivated Princess Beatrix with beautiful stories from nature about flamingos and other waterfowl Van Veghel spoke about the island's history including various interesting historical elements in the landscape and a large cistern built by the Dutch West India Company (West Indische Compagnie) These components offer excellent opportunities for ecotourism Several activities have already been organized with local residents to explore these possibilities together there is only one biosphere reserve within the Kingdom Maasheggen in North Brabant; it would be wonderful if the Middle Curaçao Biosphere becomes the second on this special UNESCO list.  New possibilities for park management  As nature becomes increasingly important to people with both tourists and the local population showing more interest in Curaçao's nature Carmabi is working on a new strategy and approach for managing this area and environment that suits modern times It will be a different concept than in other parks as Carmabi Chairman Odette Doest explained to the princess This nature reserve is most suitable for low-impact use visitors won't come by car but rather on foot or by mountain bike as well as birdwatchers or other nature enthusiasts can also be a useful aspect of managing this area The historical elements in the landscape lend themselves to outdoor museum-like features visible from the road to attract tourists and open up the area The creation of observation towers or shelters for easily observing nature without disturbance would also be a good fit for managing this area They plan to experiment with these new ideas in 2024 such as restoring one of the salt pans or introducing digital interactions like outdoor escape rooms or discovery trails Odette Doest invited the princess to return for these innovative activities in the future.  An official from an under-construction Dutch mosque targeted by far-right activists over the weekend has told Anadolu Agency his congregation remained “open to communication with everyone” spokesman of the Selimiye Mosque in the southern town of Veghel said: "I wish those who did this would prefer to share their troubles with us “We are open to communicating with everyone Suspected members of the anti-immigration PEGIDA group hung threatening and anti-Muslim posters on a fence surrounding the construction site of the new Selimiye Mosque The group later used social media to claim responsibility for the action Imamoglu said it was the first time the group had carried out such an action in a region where local residents had rejected such Islamophobic acts a group of neighborhood residents who did not want the mosque went to court we fixed and improved our relations with the group as we contacted them "Sometimes they even help us," Imamoglu said adding nearly 2,000 Turks were living in Veghel alongside Dutch people The fire departments in the Netherlands received thousands of reports about incidents across the country on New Year’s Eve and early on New Year’s Day The incidents include a large fire in a Veghel church that is a historic monument in a primary school building with a thatched roof The fire service received 3,833 reports of incidents nationwide during the new year’s period the fire brigade reported on the basis of an initial inventory among the 25 security regions in the Netherlands That number is comparable to the last two New Year’s Eve periods when fireworks were still banned due to the coronavirus crisis the number of reports to the fire service were well over 4,000 This year more residential fires were reported than a year earlier: about 134 residential fires compared to 97 last year On a "normal day" there are an average of 19 residential fires During New Year's Eve 2021 into New Year’s Day 2022 there were almost five times as many The fire service also received about 724 reports of container fires and 183 of car fires The very large fire that broke out after midnight in a monumental side building of the Sint-Lambertus Church in Veghel in Noord-Brabant was brought under control Many firefighters and multiple pieces of equipment rolled out to the scene Personnel let the fire in the “monumental building to burn out in a controlled manner,” said the security region the adjacent church was not in danger,” the security region said on Twitter The fire was raging in the congregation chapel a small building that currently serves as a mosque The security region reported earlier in the night that the annex would probably completely burn down Ladder trucks and cherry pickers were on the scene to help extinguish the fire from above The cause of the fire was not immediately known there were no initial reports that anyone was involved in the fire or was injured Firefighters also drove tanker trucks around the area looking for fires caused by burning embers spread by the strong wind The extension behind it was also designed by Cuypers Both buildings are considered national monuments Cuypers also designed the building that houses the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam a fire started on New Year's Eve in the Rietendakschool in the Ondiep district The fire brigade suspects that fireworks caused the flames in the thatched building built in 1923 It was a raging fire and "visible flames" were extinguished Specialists in dealing with reeds that catch fire were deployed to keep the fire from re-igniting The fire damage was limited to the thatched roof and there was smoke and water damage in the building "We hope that we can save the building," a spokesperson said earlier Because according to him it would be an eternal shame if society lost such a beautiful building designed in the Amsterdam School architectural style Fire broke out at the school on four other occasions None of those incidents took place during the New Year’s period in other years Several fires broke out in Amsterdam during the turn of the new year Damage was also caused by fireworks or vandalism a daycare center on the Markengouw in Amsterdam-Noord suffered major damage due to fireworks all windows and facades were completely blown out causing an immense havoc A fire also raged in a gymnasium of a school on Zuid-Hollandstraat in the Buitenveldert neighborhood Vandals likely threw a wheelie bin on fire through the window there a fire raged in a house at Ubbo Emmiushof in Nieuw-West The Amsterdam fire brigade was particularly busy with many reports that came in after midnight Those included container and roadside fires tried to carry on a New Year’s tradition started by Herman Kaiser he would eat dinner with firefighters on New Year’s Eve Marcouch wanted to do the same on Saturday evening but the firefighters were called out to an emergency "The celebration of the New Year is the largest and perhaps the most dangerous event in the Netherlands And this is only possible because people from the fire brigade police and ambulance are ready for us to celebrate that party." there were people who threw fireworks at the fire brigade Police and riot police were needed to help guarantee firefighters’ safety in several parts of the country Hollands-Midden and Gelderland-Zuid Security Regions said aggression and violence are “never acceptable.” He said first responders should never be the target of verbal or physical abuse “with or without fireworks.” Thousands of firefighters are at the ready every year during New Year's Eve Van Lieshout emphasized that it is the busiest time of the year for the fire brigade The firefighters often have to deal with garbage container fires Three new doctors to are planning to set up shop in Kincardine Dr. Janine Van Veghel, Dr. Owen Montpellier, and Dr. Allegra Reeves have chosen to set up family practices within the municipality. The Kincardine Family Health Organization currently has 10 physicians providing primary care for 14,500 patients. A full complement is closer to 15 physicians, whose work includes emergency room shifts, provision of hospital inpatient coverage, retirement home care, pregnancy and baby wellness programs, palliative care, memory clinics, mental health management, and care for patients in all stages of life. Van Veghel graduated from Dalhousie University in May of this year and is currently completing a medical residency with the potential to practice family medicine as soon as August 2024. “I am so excited for the opportunity to return home to practice medicine once I finish my residency training,” said Van Veghel. “My partner was able to secure employment in the local energy sector, which made committing to Kincardine a reality for our family. I’m grateful to the Municipality and our incredible community for their support.”  Montpellier graduated from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in May of 2021 and is also currently completing a medical residency with the potential to practice medicine as early as January of 2024. Both physicians join Reeves, whose recruitment was previously announced in May of 2020.  In July of 2024, Reeves can potentially begin practicing medicine in the municipality. A graduate from the University of Ottawa, Reeves is currently completing a residency with the University of Western Ontario in Hanover. Access to accommodations for the physicians is possible thanks to the 2014 purchase of two homes by The Society of United Professionals. These homes serve as locum houses, a keystone in Kincardine’s physician recruitment efforts. “These accommodations are crucial to our physician recruitment efforts. We wholeheartedly thank The Society of United Professional’s for their substantial support,” said Murphy. The Society of United Professionals represents more than 8,000 professionals across Ontario, including 1,200 local members who perform technical and supervisory roles for Bruce Power. transmission or republication strictly prohibited This website uses cookies to personalize your content (including ads), and allows us to analyze our traffic.
