A fire that claimed the lives of Herman Dogger and his wife Jet in their Vroomshoop home on Friday evening is now being investigated as a potential double homicide
Shortly after firefighters extinguished the flames
police arrested a man from Ridderkerk near the scene
His connection to the fire has not been disclosed
Neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion moments before the flames engulfed the house
Some speculated the sound came from a gas cylinder explosion
while others suggested a Molotov cocktail might have been used
Emergency responders pulled Herman and Jet Dogger from the burning house and transported them to a hospital
Neighbors described the sound as "a deep bang." One resident stated
"I thought someone was firing a carbide cannon in the street
Speculation surrounds the motive for the alleged attack
Friends of the victims suggested a prolonged dispute may have been a factor
Several neighbors claimed that earlier on Friday
a heated argument occurred between Herman Dogger and the Ridderkerk suspect over the sale of a young dog through the classified ads website Marktplaats
The disagreement reportedly escalated into a confrontation
a police forensic unit arrived at the scene
treating the incident as a severe criminal case
Police have so far stated only that the arrested man is suspected of involvement in the fire
It remains unclear whether he acted alone or with accomplices
is being held in full custody and is represented by the Enschede-based law firm Kalk and Ural
Authorities have not revealed his age or any potential motive
no homicides had been reported in the region in 2024
A 65-year-old man from Ridderkerk accused of causing a fatal house fire in Vroomshoop will remain in custody, a judge ruled on Tuesday
which resulted in the deaths of two people and three dogs
reportedly stems from an ongoing dispute over a rare Bohemian shepherd dog named Bobby
The suspect allegedly threw a gas cylinder into the house on Meidoornlaan and may have also sprayed gas inside before the fire erupted
The incident took place after the man traveled to Vroomshoop to retrieve Bobby
a 15-month-old dog at the center of the conflict
Investigators suspect the gas cylinders were on the property because the residents used them to heat their home with a gas heater to save on expenses
The conflict reportedly began when the suspect
a breeder and chairman of a club for Bohemian shepherd enthusiasts
learned that the Vroomshoop resident had listed Bobby for sale on Marktplaats
The suspect had previously rehomed the dog under the condition that it not be traded and insisted Bobby be returned after discovering the online listing
When the suspect arrived in Vroomshoop on Friday
this led to the escalation that ultimately caused the fatal fire
The suspect’s pretrial detention has been extended by 14 days
the court will reassess whether his detention should be prolonged further
The destroyed house remains the focus of an ongoing investigation by police and forensic teams
The suspect owned several businesses in Ridderkerk
including a wedding car rental service and an electric taxi dispatch center
He and his wife had recently sold their home and were planning to emigrate to the Czech Republic
the origin country of the Bohemian shepherd breed
Why not replace virgin plastic with recycled plastic
At its Vroomshoop site in the north of the Netherlands
Veolia transforms plastic flakes - 90% of which are from household waste - into recycled plastic whose characteristics are identical to those of virgin plastic
The quality of the plastic is constant and can be used to make piping
outdoor furniture and household appliances
Veolia is now the European leader in recycling and manufacturing high-quality polypropylene
This durable material is in particular present in some Philips brand vacuum cleaners and in SEB steamers
Recycling of plastic waste and WEEE, a market with hihg potential

Part of the Emission-free2030 program is to limit building-related energy consumption as much as possible and to generate sustainable energy wherever possible
After an analysis of the real estate owned (directly or indirectly) by VolkerWessels itself
these include office buildings and production sites in Oosterhout (VWML)
Groningen (Visser & Smit Bouw) and Amsterdam (KWS)
A solar roof in Vroomshoop (De Groot Vroomshoop) has already been completed in the summer of 2023
Additional locations are expected to follow later this year
The roofs of the selected locations were found to be suitable both in terms of sun position and construction and have sufficient potential to deploy the solar power generated locally
In order to make maximum use of the generated sustainable energy
additional charging stations have also been installed at a number of locations to charge the rapidly growing electric vehicle fleet
By means of “active load balancing,” maximum utilization of the generated solar energy is continuously controlled
At locations that are experiencing grid congestion and where it is not yet possible to supply energy back to the grid operator
VolkerWessels purchases 100% green electricity anyway
in addition to the electricity that it generates itself sustainably
The panels will be installed by GroenLeven
a partner with which VolkerWessels also cooperates in other sustainable energy projects
The structural study was carried out by VolkerWessels company Aveco de Bondt and the preparation of the building installations for solar power and the installation of charging stations was carried out at most locations by VolkerWessels company Homij

The track will be modified in various places using a number of special techniques
has an incline up to 32% that will require customised equipment to build
Van Kessel will replace just over 50% of top layer on the track
as well as a closed soil balance for reusable materials on the track
Van Kessel and Holland Scherm are laying two new prefabricated pedestrian tunnels in order to safely manage the massive interest in the event and the expected public flows
The prefabricated tunnels were constructed by Martens Beton and each have a length of 40 metres.De Groot Vroomshoop will build a brand new medical centre next to the circuit
This one-storey prefab structure will be constructed entirely out of wood and is therefore sustainable and 100% circular
The medical centre will be built in Vroomshoop and then transported in one piece to Zandvoort
the pit building will be expanded by Kondor Wessels Amsterdam and consist of a one-storey addition that will measure 8m wide by 150m long
The roof of the addition will be built as a VIP stand
New stairs will be built from this VIP stand to the existing stand
