An EU-funded project implemented in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region of northern Poland has constructed a new section of the S5 express road The section begins near the village of Białe Błota at the junction with the bypass around Bydgoszcz – the region’s joint capital and largest city on the border with the Wielkopolskie region with two lanes and an emergency lane on each side of a central reservation Its design has been adapted to enable it to handle expected future traffic volumes The work covered construction of road junctions and installation of noise barriers and traffic management and road safety devices sections of adjacent roads were realigned to adapt the network to the route of the S5 which replaces the existing national road 5 and is a component of the comprehensive Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) network It will start at the junction with the S7 express road near the town of Ostróda in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie region capital of the Dolnośląskie region in the south-west of the country. As well as providing a direct connection with the Bydgoszcz bypass the S5 will include junctions with the A1 and A2 motorways: the former at Grudziądz a city of almost 100 000 inhabitants in Kujawsko-Pomorskie; the latter near Poznań the E261 runs from the village of Nowe Marzy Project objectives include enhancing the accessibility and efficiency of road links in Poland and interregional links within the TEN-T network 540 000 and 640 000 respectively – the new section of the S5 achieves this The road supplies a missing element of Poland’s transport infrastructure thereby increasing capacity and eliminating bottlenecks to shorten journey times between regional centres improve safety and ensure high levels of comfort for long-distance This facilitates free interregional and international movement of people and goods boosting the EU's external competitiveness and internal economic the road will relieve congestion in nearby built-up areas thus improving living conditions for residents Total investment for the project “Construction of the S5 express road Bydgoszcz – Mielno section Białe Błota – Mielno” is EUR 320 482 739 with the EU’s Cohesion Fund contributing EUR 164 424 958 through the “Infrastructure and Environment” Operational Programme for the 2014-2020 programming period The investment falls under the priority “Development of the TEN-T road network and multimodal transport” Ministerstwo obsługujące ministra właściwego ds Generalna Dyrekcja Drog Krajowych I Autostrad the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship (province) in Poland has hosted the country’s largest dance festival Białe Błota has come alive as 2,500 contestants and spectators from all over the country descend on a village whose usual population numbers just over 100 the event has benefited from the technical skills and hard work of Mateusz Mielcarek and his team at Mielcarek Event anonymous space into a sophisticated arena in which the contestants’ talents gain an outstanding showcase Key to this are the innovative lighting effects designed and delivered by Mielcarek – using CAST Software’s wysiwyg lighting design and pre-visualisation software starting from scratch to ensure each event is unique – and every year “That means that we need incredibly smart tools that allow us express our energy and passion for what we do – and wysiwyg is perfect It’s an essential element in our preparation.” Some idea of the ambition of the event can be seen in the equipment list with around 150 individual fixtures from the likes of Claypaky DTS and Robe driven by a Jands Vista console Mielcarek and his team spent 5 days in preparation 7 days assembling the equipment and 3 days installing it at the venue “The ability that wysiwyg give us to create an entire project from scratch gives us many options for ensuring a professional implementation,” continued Mielcarek That’s very important to us because it allows us to prepare the entire project to scale We use the wysiwyg Perform version as it is an all-in-one software and pre-visualisation functions into one tool that’s very useful for large-scale production Another interesting feature is the ability to simulate effects when connected to a DMX console or a compatible offline editor.” another key benefit of CAST Software’s wysiwyg is the ability it gives him to share with organisers what he has in mind in order to get feedback and for the organisers to demonstrate to potential sponsors what the show will look like “Not only does wysiwyg enable us to achieve a much more efficient production process,” said Mielcarek “but it also helps the organisers to get financial support in a country where that can be very difficult.” “We’re already thinking about next year’s show,” he concluded “You can be sure that we’ll be using wysiwyg again – as well as all the other events we will support.” You can see what Mielcarek and his team were able to achieve with wysiwyg on
