A court in northern Poland has acquitted two people accused of using an indecent slogan in a public place during recent mass protests against a near-total ban on abortion
“A polite protest would make no sense,” said the judge
The pair, described as “a woman and a young boy”, were carrying a banner saying “Wypierdalać” (meaning “Fuck off” or “Get the fuck out”), which has been one of the main slogans of the demonstrations
which were the largest in Poland’s post-communist history
We explain six of the symbols that have come to characterise the mass abortion protests in Poland, including the red lightning bolt, the word "Wypierdalać", umbrellas, and the cryptic ***** *** https://t.co/qTCcLzZ5de

The defendants were accused of violating article 141 of the petty offence code
a fine of up to 1,500 zloty (€330) or a reprimand for placing an “indecent announcement
slogan or drawing or using indecent words” in public
the judge in the court in the small town of Gryfice where the protest took place
decided that the word on the banner was vulgar and used in public
she concluded that this act was not “socially harmful” in the context of the protests
is used for people who disturb others for base motives
the accused had the right to express their dissatisfaction
“A polite protest would not make sense
because nobody would pay any attention to it,” Ścisłowska argued
Move to strip Polish opposition MP of immunity to face charges for church abortion protest
The demonstration where the offending banner was raised took place in November and was attended by local activists as well as Marta Lempart, the leader of the Women’s Strike movement that organised the nationwide protests
Police took the details of protesters and later
according to an unofficial source cited by Gazeta Wyborcza
One of the police officers questioned as a witness said that other “vulgar banners” were also present
but the one in questioned stood out because of its “significant dimensions”
Another admitted that he did not feel offended by the content as he “heard worse things at work”
but said that the vulgarity “violated public order”

Wexford lad Oisín McDonagh has been included on the Ireland Under-17 squad that will be in action in the UEFA European Championship elite round qualifiers in Poland this week
The former Glynn Barntown and Wexford FC defender is now developing his game with Venezia in Italy
and he is part of a 20-strong squad that will start a busy six days when they play Belgium in Karola Kucharskiego
The action will move to Baltyk Koszalin at the same time Saturday when hosts Poland will provide the opposition
before Ireland return to Gryfice to take on Iceland next Tuesday
Under-17 head coach Colin O’Brien said: “To get through the first phase is always a tricky path to negotiate
but what we have done is put ourselves up against some great opposition and that’s brilliant for any young player to go and test themselves
“As always at this stage it is a tough group
both in qualifiers and their preparation games
and they know what it takes to be successful around player development
Not only is there a chance to play at the European Championships but should we be a best-placed runner-up you could be heading to the World Cup
so every game is going to have something riding on it.”

Link Copied!“Life,” wrote Mateusz Rebecki aka ‘Chinczyk’ on Instagram
after being brutally battered by Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC St
He was an undefeated lightweight for a decade before he fought his last fight and was brutally injured
the resilient fighter seemed not to be bothered and gave a shrugging emoji and a picture of him with blood
His bravery is in his bloodstream and he is born with it
The combatant with an impressive 19-2 record is ready to come back after the brutal last fight and you must be wondering where he is from
let’s take a look at his roots and see where he got his tenacity from
Mateusz Rębecki was born on 3rd October 1992 in Gryfice
He is a Polish national and a world-class MMA fighter who has been a pro since 2014
He specializes in Jiu-Jitsu and is an expert fighter with a mountain of experience
‘Chinczyk’ is currently signed with Berserkers Team Szczecin and was also undefeated in First Exclusive Night which is one of the biggest federations organizing MMA in Europe
A post shared by Mateusz Rębecki (@rebeasti)
He started combat sports when he was a child and even though he went to college, he did not finish it to pursue his MMA dreams. Rębecki surprisingly was also a bodyguard before smashing his opponents inside the Octagon.
The prominent Polish mixed martial artist is known for his skills in the lightweight division. He began his martial arts journey by training in various disciplines but ultimately chose to focus on Jiu Jitsu and wrestling, honing his skills there.
He spent most of his childhood in this small town of Poland. Growing up in a pretty supportive environment he gravitated towards sports at an early age. Gryfice’s tight-knit community gave him the boost he needed to fulfill his dreams in martial arts.
He has performed magnificently at UFC with a 3 fight-winning streak in the promotion before he lost to Ferreira. Before that, he was a part of Fight Exclusive Night where he won 15 times and lost just once.
He currently stays in Szczecin, Poland, a city known for its vibrant MMA scene which allows him to train with the best people. His training regimen includes striking, grappling, and jiu-jitsu which keeps him well-rounded for fights. Now he is coming back at UFC 308 to fight Myktybek Orolbai. Do you think he will add another win to his collection?

Poland’s Mateusz Rebecki may not be a familiar name to casual MMA fans
but the 28-year-old has carved out a reputation for himself as one of Europe’s top lightweights
where he is the reigning lightweight champion
The Polish promotion has kept him active since he signed with them in 2015
Rebecki celebrated his tenth FEN MMA bout with a devastating KO of Argentina’s Jose Barrios Vargas in the main event of FEN 32
The opening round victory took Rebecki’s record to 12-1
Rebecki was a skilled BJJ practitioner before switching to MMA
His initial success in the cage was owed in part to his impressive ground game
he has developed and refined his striking capabilities
After scoring his first KO win in his seventh professional bout
the Gryfice born fighter has been on a hot streak racking up six further stoppage wins in as many fights
I’ve always dreamed of knocking someone out like that
This ending of the fight allows me to believe that I am still developing as a fighter,” Rebecki said to LowkickMMA about his most recent victory
Shortly after defending his title at FEN 32, the BJJ black belt, signed with First Round Management, home to Jon Jones
The move hints that we could eventually see Rebecki competing outside of his native Poland
then continue to fight and cooperate with the FEN organization
I do not know what my sports level is compared to the world’s best fighters
So I would like to test myself in the UFC,” Rebecki commented
” I don’t know if I can handle it there
but I don’t want to regret in my old age that I didn’t do my best to get there
My weight class is one of the most popular in whole MMA
Rebecki is enjoying the journey he has been on with FEN MMA
The promotion opened its doors in November of 2013
and after successfully establishing itself in the local market
it is now looking to attract the interest of international audiences
FEN MMA’s last two PPV events were available worldwide
and Rebecki expects the promotion to continue expanding in the coming years
“I really appreciate the opportunity to fight in the FEN federation
and that is why we continue to work together
It’s hard to talk about the future nowadays
and they will probably surprise me positively in the next few years.”
Polish MMA seems to be on the rise at the moment. The country has an impressive local scene, and with fighters like UFC Middleweight Champion Jan Blachowicz flying the flag overseas
Poland and Polish fighters will continue to play an important role in the sport
and this is probably why there is so much interest in a sport such as MMA,” Rebecki exclaimed
speaking about the popularity of MMA in his homeland
Rebecki’s next steps will be interesting to follow and with a new managerial team behind himfans should not be surprised if his name starts to become a lot more familiar in the near future
