Poland has just faced one of the coldest nights of the year
with temperatures plunging well below freezing nationwide and reaching extreme lows in the Tatra Mountains
Meteorologists caution that even colder conditions are on the way
as mountain peaks have consistently recorded temperatures below -20°C (-4°F) for several days
According to the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute (IMGW)
the coldest official weather station in Poland last night (February 17-18) was in Jelenia Góra
located in the southwestern part of the country
where temperatures dropped to -17.7°C (0.1°F)
the lowest recorded temperature was in Jakuszyce

JELENIA GORA – Yesterday, 10 July on the 2nd competition day at the 2014 World University Cycling Championship
Kathrin Hammes from Germany won the women’s race
Petr Vakoc (CZE) took his second gold at this WUC. It was also a good race day for the host riders who won another three medals
the UCI’s judges decided to cut one lap of the race
From the very first meters of the race a small group of cyclists took the lead
Katarzyna Solus-Miśkowicz and Martyna Klekot
Also the silver medalist of the time trial Kathrin Hammes was present in that group
And these three student-athletes battled it out for the medals
because it is my first start on the road after a two years break
So I am really satisfied with my result “
a student at The Holy Cross University in Kielce
“Time trial is not my favourite competition
the University of Freiburg student-athlete added
Few minutes after their start rain began to fall
“It wasn’t the longest race in my career
but the weather conditions were really tough
And Sosnówka … It’s a huge challenge to climb this hill
In the beginning Dutch cyclists were very active
the time trial gold medalist from the previous day
He left no room to his rivals and pocketed his second gold in Jelenia Góra

the signed contract proves the strengthening of good cooperation between the two market leaders who have been closely working together for some time due to the growing importance of the use of recyclates in the production of final products
“We are a company that meets the needs of our customers in terms of the use of recycled materials in the production process
but we are also aware of the importance of engaging in the implementation of the circular economy idea
As one of the plastics manufacturers in Poland
we are aware of the great responsibility that rests on us
which is why we striving to become a leader in achieving sustainable development goals”
Tomasz Mikulski from ML Polyolefins speaks in a similar vein
emphasizing common non-business goals that connect both companies: “I am glad that our companies share the same values
finding deeper meaning in our cooperation – reduction of the amount of plastic waste
recycling of secondary materials or empowering our sustainability by minimise the carbon footprint
We continue our joint activities in the field of the circular economy
taking care every day to provide our partner with a product that meets his expectations.”
The cooperation of both enterprises so far has resulted in the introduction to the market portfolio of final products with significant percentage of recyclate input
which was possible by pulling together on the innovation and improvement of materials used in processing
Monika Łagońska from Jelenia Plast and Krzysztof Nowosielski from ML Polyolefins
point to the most important issues and emphasize that this is not the end of joint projects: “For such a large contract
work on it surprisingly did not take very long
Both parties are proven partners for each other
so determining the details was not labour-intensive and complicated
The development of the material took us most of the time
because – understandably – we wanted to maintain the aesthetic appearance
colour and properties of the product”
purchasing department manager at Jelenia Plast
Commercial director of ML follow up: “We have some work ahead related to the research and development for new recipes
but if the cooperation is as smooth as it has been so far
we will start deliveries of new product groups very quickly
We realize that such contracts – especially publicly communicated – are closely watched by other companies in the industry
which are also trying to follow the path of abandoning the use raw plastics
Together with such a valuable partner as Jelenia Plast
we will try to point out the benefits of using recyclates and promote their importance in global meaning
especially where it is not necessary to use prime materials”

Poland (KLTV/KTRE) - An early Christmas gift just arrived at the main fire station in Tyler’s sister city in Poland
The commander of the fire brigade in Jelenia Góra recently unboxed a customized American-style fire helmet
a symbol of gratitude from Tyler Fire Chief David Coble
Coble was part of a small group of representatives from the City of Tyler and the Tyler Sister Cities Organization that visited Jelenia Góra on a diplomatic mission
Coble spent time touring the city’s fire departments
inspecting fire and rescue apparatuses and other emergency response equipment
the guys just sort of welcomed us into their house
They showed us both of the fire stations there in the city
And I just felt that camaraderie that firefighters feel -- that brotherhood when you are around each other.”
Coble and Commander Andrzej Ciosk also discussed the idea of establishing an exchange program for firefighters in the two cities after discovering they have much in common
That chief is there to build the best fire department he can for the people in Jelenia Góra
And I’m here in Tyler doing the best we can for the citizens here in Tyler
And just the fact that we have a common goal
Tyler and Jelenia Góra have been cooperating as sister cities for nearly three decades
Coble sent Ciosk a decommissioned fire helmet once used by the Tyler Fire Department
are named after the father of the American fire service
who began a fire brigade more than 200 years ago
“Europe wears a motorcycle-style fire helmet
So they don’t have anything like what we have here in United States,” Coble said
“I knew he probably couldn’t get anything in Poland like that.”
The front features a custom-made leather emblem with lettering of the city’s name and ‘Guardian of Poland.’
The Polish and American flags are affixed to the back of the helmet above the shield of the Tyler Fire Department
memorabilia is something that we hold onto in our lifetime,” Coble said
“If you go in almost any retired firefighter’s home
you’ll find a room or an area in a room that has some fire memorabilia in there
And I hope this is something he’ll treasure and keep for a lifetime.”
The box also contained several shirts from the Tyler Fire Department

Sister Margo’s family relocated to Tyler’s sister city of Jelenia Góra after World War II
It feels like East Texas because it has hills and a lot of green scenery
Texas found Jelenia Gora and that we are sister cities
Sister Margo was in Poland when the war in Ukraine broke out in February
ministering to the refugees who flooded across the border
Tyler and Jelenia Góra have only been sister cities since the 1990s
but their focus on faith is something a delegation from East Texas is exploring this week
A team from the City of Tyler and the Tyler Sister Cities Organization is visiting Poland to deepen cultural ties and explore new opportunities for educational and economic cooperation
One focus of the delegation’s visit is to gain a better understanding of the people

A 10MW solar farm to be built in Jelenia Góra will have panels arranged in the shape of a city symbol – a deer
is a city with a population of around 85,000 located in Lower Silesia
Legend has it that Prince Bolesław Krzywousty pursued an injured deer into the area and was so taken by the region’s beauty that he built a fortified castle there in 1108
Project developer Polski Solar says the PV plant will generate enough clean electricity to meet the needs of 4,500 local households. To create the shape of a deer, blue multicrystalline (polycrystalline) solar panels will be set among black monocrystalline modules
The facility will be built as part of the Jeleniogórski Renewable Energy Cluster
“Renewable energy clusters are the future of the energy sector. They are of great importance in terms of improving the air quality in the Jelenia Góra Valley, but also due to the reduction of the county’s operating costs,” said (translated) Jacek Ryński
vice president of the Polish Solar Holding Foundation
Apparently the city is plagued by smog during the winter months
It’s not the first solar farm in the world to have panels arranged in the shape of an animal (excluding Mickey Mouse) – one we reported on previously was the Panda solar plant in Datong
The panda didn’t quite look like the artist’s impression
The uptake of solar panels has been rather sluggish in Poland
Around 101 MW of new PV systems were connected to the grid in 2016, with nearly three quarters of this capacity being residential and commercial systems. By May of last year
total cumulative solar capacity in the country had reached nearly 200MW
Coal is still king of the power sector of Poland – and also the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions
The country has a renewable energy target of 15% by 2020, but there have been doubts as to whether that will be achieved. In a report published last March, Ecofys projected a range between 10.0% and 13.8% overall renewable energy share in 2020
a recently approved scheme may help solar power and other forms of renewable energy along
the European Commission approved granting of State support to producers of electricity from renewable sources
Small installations with a capacity of up to 500kW will be eligible to receive a feed-in tariff and larger installations will receive a premium on top of the market price of electricity
The scheme will be financed by a surcharge on electricity consumers and there will be some breaks for large energy consumers
“The Polish support scheme will increase the share of green energy in Poland’s energy mix and help the country’s energy transition,” said Commissioner Margrethe Vestager
“It will also preserve the global competitiveness of companies that are heavily energy dependent.”
The scheme has a budget of around €9.4 billion (around AUD $14.41 billion)
Michael caught the solar power bug after purchasing components to cobble together a small off-grid PV system in 2008
He's been reporting on Australian and international solar energy news ever since
I understood that monocrystalline and polycrystalline panels could not be mixed
where is the pikkie of the German-Japanese hybrid system – the Miki Maus one
If dissimilar panels are connected to the same MPPT on an inverter
the performance of all the panels will be pulled down to that of the weakest
This means it’s a bad idea to mix and match panels for no reason
So either the two different types of panels either won’t be attached to the same MPPTs or they are willing to take a small hit to their system’s output in order to have a pretty picture
The not very Mickey Mouse looking one is near Florida Disneyland
https://ohmy.disney.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Mickey-Mouse-Solar-Facility-Walt-Disney-World.jpg
I dunno – looks pretty Mickey Mouse to me
with the big one for recharging the mother ship
and the two little ones for recharging the sister ships
