Piotr Hardecki and his design team at Piotr Hardecki Architekt led the revitalization and reconstruction of Podzamcze Park in Łęczna in cooperation with the landscape architecture offices KANSKA Design and ARGO Atelier
securing and making available to visitors the remains of 19th-Century farm buildings
including the adaptation of the former hop dryer to the observation tower
The new park (also known as the Castle Park) features the renovation and preservation of a medieval castle confirmed by fragmentary excavations
a ruined palace managed by electronics factory
lindens dating back to ancient garden assumptions
and an Old Town in the oldest dinosaur valley in Poland
The area of Podzamcze Park and the adjacent areas included in the scope of the spatial programme concept is 29 ha
The park is divided into three parts: northern (between the railway viaducts and Nowowiejskiego street)
middle (between Nowowiejskiego street and St John’s bridge)
and southern (between the bridges of St John and St James).
the farm buildings of the former grange functioned as a state farm and horticultural complex until the end of the 1990s
the unattended buildings turned into roofless
gradually appropriated by wildly growing greenery.
The designers aimed to preserve as much of the original building substance as possible.
Due to the impossibility of reconstructing the destroyed buildings
the remains of the manor were developed as ruins
traces of architectural decoration were exposed in the form of limestone cladding
but also in the form of remnants of multiple alterations and rebuildings.
A flower meadow has been proposed for the former farmyard
while the birch trees planted inside the walls of the burnt stable are reminiscent of the scrubby growth that used to thrive there
the pergola resting on the walls left by the second farm building recalls the layout of the former ceiling beams.
The integrity of the complex is emphasised by the clinker paving.
The former hop drying room has been adapted into a viewing tower
ending in a perimeter gallery attached to the existing walls
All contemporary elements are made of galvanized steel
As part of the remaining stages of revitalization
the blurred layout of the 18th-Century Italian garden in the central part of the premises was reconstructed and the 19th-Century romantic park was originally laid out on the slopes and around the escarpments falling towards the nearby Wieprz River
The selection of plant species was based on compositions characteristic of the 17th- and 18th-Century single-story baroque gardens
and it is crossed by walking alleys lying at different levels
The axis of the park makes a riverbed over which
In the spring or summer the flowers and lush greenery of the chestnut trees
the trees delight with the richness of their colorful foliage

The battle was on until the last leg of the Ekstraliga and it finished with the victory of GKS Katowice
GKS Katowice started the 2022/2023 season by losing 3-4 against AZS UJ Kraków
These two teams were predicted to fight for fourth place
Czarni Sosnowiec and Górnik Łęczna being favourites to take the medals again
the remaining ten legs of the autumn round were all victorious for GKS
making them the leaders at the season’s half mark
That was parallel to the disappointments of Pogoń Szczecin that brought some strong names during the transfer window
as well as Czarni Sosnowiec taking sixth place
Defending champions TME SMS Łódź had a good defence in the beginning
however the end of autumn saw them finish in just third place
but were also the highest-scoring team in the league with 40 in 11 games
Spring confirmed the top of the table with Katowice
It was eventually brought down to the battle of two
Pogoń Szczecin and Śląsk Wrocław both earned three points against the leaders
winning against Łódź was a big step towards Katowice’s first title
Łódź lost their final game against Łęczna and thus took third place
while Czarni Sosnowiec found themselves in the lower half of the table
Below there was also a battle to avoid relegation
League were the favourites to drop back to the second-tier
Pogoń Tczew managed to get a few victories
HydroTruck Radom also started earning some points
but it was too late to save themselves from last place
The teams facing relegation were Medyk Konin and Sportis KKP Bydgoszcz
The top scorers classification was won by Dominika Kopińska with 20 goals
defending the trophy for the league’s best scorer
the leader of Pogoń Tczew and the U19 National Team scored 18 goals
One trophy is still to be given — the Polish Cup final will be held on June 10th in Radom between TME SMS Łódź and AP Orlen Gdańsk

the first unfortunate soul to succumb to goalmouth heebie-jeebies was KV Mechelen midfielder Aster Vranckx
who saw his truly terrible effort against KV Oostende go viral
A combination of poor defending and slapstick goalkeeping saw Vranckx presented with a completely vacant goal and the ball at his feet
the 17-year-old wasn't able to capitalise as his entire lower body let him down at the most inopportune moment
❌ | Wat een verschrikkelijke misser van Aster Vranckx! 😱#KVMKVO pic.twitter.com/pdAAmUN1Ez
Mechelen went onto lose the game by a single goal
Vranckx wasn't alone for long as Ibrahima Ndiaye suffered a similar howler while leading the line for Swiss side FC Luzern in their cup tie against FC Thun
With the ball squared across the 6-yard box and the Thun keeper stranded
Ndiaye was left with the simple task of slotting it into an empty goal
OH MY GOD! 😱I see your Aster Vranckx and raise you Ibrahima Ndiaye! The FC Luzern forward manages to put it wide from just yards out with an open goal!WHAT A MISS!🤦♂️ pic.twitter.com/esuFPQlTDs
the net rippled -- but not quite in the manner he'd have hoped
Sure they were both utterly abysmal in their own right
but it's fair to say Vranckx and Ndaiye are in good
PSG cult hero Choupo-Moting did the unthinkable and actually prevented his teammate from scoring
inexplicably stopping the ball before it crossed the line
"It's difficult to explain," uttered the bewildered striker after the game
echoing the sentiments of thousands of disbelieving PSG fans around the world

the battle for the championship is getting as warm as the weather
maybe we need to wait a little bit for the warm weather
but you can feel the heat arise in the top of the Ekstraliga ranking
With surprising defeats against AP Lotos Gdańsk and AZS UJ Kraków
TME SMS Łódź has finished the autumn in second
the league’s top scorer with 13 goals this season
the team who fell from the throne last season is on its way back
It wasn’t the only thorn in the side for the team of Łódź
The biggest upset of the transfer window was left-back Daria Kurzawa leaving the captain band of SMS to join the team which stood between them and both league and cup trophies last year
Czarni Sosnowiec are just one point behind Łódź
and now have strong enforcements in their defence
As the team of Łódź needs to seek a substitution among their youngsters
Czarni can easily move Martyna Wiankowska forward — she’s a left-back too
but her offensive skills are very helpful in both midfield and the goalscoring
she is the top scorer of the team this season and the second top scorer in the whole league
The autumn was a disappointment for Medyk Konin — the club which is an icon for women’s Polish football is based on foreign players mostly this season
This included Dominika Koleničková — her adventure with Konin however
But besides the players from different parts of the world
the strongest player is still Anna Gawrońska
With her 43rd birthday coming up in just three weeks
she’s still the support for the team both on and off the pitch
however enough to fight for the trophies so far and the team hasn’t won a trophy since 2003
Taking sixth place is not only behind the top three
but also behind GKS Katowice and AZS UJ Kraków
GKS saw the role of a supplier of the youngster to the national team with Zofia Buszewska and Kinga Kozak in 2020/21 season (both now joined their local rival of Czarni Sosnowiec) as well as Klaudia Maciążka
Now most of the national team debutants and also many junior national team players come from AZS UJ Kraków
This sees not only an experienced goalkeeper in Karolina Klabis (the time of her injury was a down for Kraków in autumn
still she was number one between the national team’s posts with Karolina Kiedrzynek recovering from her broken finger)
but also Karolina Gec (with the equalising goal in the debut against Kosovo)
Anna Zapała (the shining point of the Polish defence at the Pinatar Cup) or Weronika Wójcik (a debutant call up this February)
Kraków is just one point ahead of Konin in Ekstraliga and only two ahead of the two teams opening the second half of the league table
Sportis KKP Bydgoszcz and AP Lotos Gdańsk are both on a similar road — always ready to make a surprise
with a strong marketing background and a long-term planning in the women’s football instead of a will to get the top results here and now
That background is also strong in Śląsk Wrocław
The team was a huge success in autumn of 2020
with a little bit of disappointment in the spring after the formally unsuccesful loan of Wiktoria Kiszkis — a youngster raised in the Arsenal Academy
But this cannot be an excuse for a poor start of 2021/22 season
but also Joanna Wróblewska or Karolina Iwaśko didn’t manage to fulfill the fans expectations and are now in the lower half of the table
with a hard calendar as they play all the top teams in the first rounds of the spring leg
Just above the Ekstraliga’s relegation zone there’s Tarnovia
The debutant in the Ekstraliga was dealt sudden news from the club’s executive who announced the team won’t start in the autumn
As it seemed the team will be successfully sabotaged by the club in a way which cannot be understand (with no support of the club’s board and no transfers after going up from the second tier) the players managed to finish the autumn in 10th place
So far the situation seems to have calmed down and Tarnovia is going to play in the spring as well
while there are talks about the team’s future
including gossip about selling the licence for Ekstraliga
with just one point of loss to Tarnovia by Olimpia Szczecin
The team which is a hard rival for everyone
resisting to the favourites and making the games exciting
it’s never seen in the result as Olimpia has seven defeats in 11 games
With just one victory (4-2 against Olimpia)
but still with slight chances to move up to the top ten
The league will resume this weekend and will conclude at the beginning of June

will build a 30 MW solar plant for the Bogdanka coal mine in which the utility is majority shareholder
The project will sell power to the mine through a long-term supply deal
Polish energy company Enea plans to build a 30 MW solar park to power coal mining activity at the Bogdanka mine near Łęczna
in the southeastern province of Lesser Poland
the majority shareholder of the Lubelski Węgiel Bogdanka S.A
said the solar facility will power operations through a long-term power purchase agreement
The 55ha solar park will generate up to 30,000 MWh of electricity per year
“The photovoltaic farms that will be established in our areas will supply clean production processes in the mine
contribute to reducing our fixed costs and increase our competitiveness,” the company said in a statement
Poland’s dependence on coal for 80% of its electricity demand ensures it remains Europe’s most polluting country even as mining interests acknowledge the business case of solar by opting for the renewable energy source to power operations
Wholesale electricity prices in Poland are on the rise due to the higher costs of coal
the Polish government in late June introduced an amendment to the act regulating energy prices which froze the tariff for households and small businesses
hospitals and public sector finance units for 2019
Renewable energy holds the key to reining in energy bills
according to Polish clean energy group the Instytut Energetyki Odnawialnej (IEO)
The organization has published analysis which suggests a coal and nuclear-based power system could see prices rise 30% by 2030 and 60% by 2050
the IEO report predicted long-term price rises linked to renewables would top out at 1.5-2%
The Polish government intends to reduce its reliance on coal in the electricity mix to 60% by 2030 and around 50% by 2050
a modest aim which would limit the European Union’s mooted aim of a carbon-neutral economy by the latter date

It’s a pleasure for me to present the first article from Her Football Hub’s new column ‘Polska Piłka’
Although Polish women’s football is not that popular abroad
I would like to start by presenting the teams from our top-tier league – the Ekstraliga
Today is a good day to do that as we start the penultimate leg of the season
The leader of the Ekstraliga table is Czarni Sosnowiec
They are last year’s bronze medallist and the most titled team in women’s football in Poland
they are on route to the 13th Champion title
The two points they lost were against GKS Katowice in the final minutes of the final game of the round
Czarni Sosnowiec still can’t be sure of getting their gold medals
Czarni Sosnowiec have a five point advantage over the biggest surprise of the season – UKS SMS Łódź
finishing second place with just one league loss – against Czarni
puts the first medal for the club into question
the power of SMS is the strength of the team
Other players have shared the responsibility for scoring
so UKS SMS Łódź still have a mathematical chance for the gold
Their surprise success means that one of the pre-season candidates to the title – Czarni
Górnik and Medyk – will finish without medal
The two teams still unsure of their podium appearance are the defending champions Górnik Łęczna
Both had a surprisingly weak start to the season but both also managed to recover
Górnik has a four-point advantage over Medyk
They also have some of the top strikers in the league in Ewelina Kamczyk
as well as Patrícia Hmírová and Emilia Zdunek
This means that Górnik Łęczna’s chances for a podium are much higher than their rivals
Behind the top four there is a battle for the fifth place
This team is bolstered by their young international players like wing defender Zofia Buszewska and offensive player Kinga Kozak
debuted for the Polish national team during the EURO 2021 qualifications
is also among the candidates to play with the White Eagle on a chest
With just a one point advantage over Śląsk Wrocław
Seeing the poor shape of Śląsk Wrocław in the spring
placed seventh with three points behind Śląsk Wrocław
The three teams sure of remaining at the top-tier are Olimpia Szczecin
Olimpia Szczecin had great matches in autumn
who got a big sponsor from the Polish oil industry
looks to build its team for the future but also have an experienced player in Aleksandra Rompa
Sportis KKP Bydgoszcz had a lot of injuries to their players during the last few months
making them fall from the middle of the table to tenth place
the relegation zone is a closed matter and consists of the debuting team ROW Rybnik
Rolnik Biedrzychowice-Głogówek were also in the relegation zone last year and were saved only by other teams’ problems
ROW Rybnik and Rolnik Biedrzychowice-Głogówek have got four and two points respectively
They are the easiest rivals to beat with 67 and 86 goals lost
the most important games of the season will be those by the teams interested in the medal battle
Here are the matchups for these final games:
– Czarni Sosnowiec – GKS Katowice (away)
Sportis KKP Bydgoszcz (home)– UKS SMS Łódź – ROW Rybnik (home)
Górnik Łęczna (away)– Górnik Łęczna – Olimpia Szczecin (away)
UKS SMS Łódź (home)– Medyk Konin – AZS UJ Kraków (away)
The most crucial matchup in deciding the silver medal will be the final leg game between UKS SMS Łódź and Górnik Łęczna
But with GKS Katowice being in a really good shape and having strong offensive youngsters
the title matter might still be open after this weekend
The final whistle of the season is bound to be full of emotion

a sędzia – by wyhamować temperamenty zawodniczek – już w pierwszej połowie musiała pokazać cztery żółte kartki
Początek spotkania należał do faworyzowanych piłkarek mistrza kraju
To pochodząca z Warszawy pomocniczka wraz z Martyną Wiankowską napędzały ataki Czarnych
Czarne zepchnęły Górnika do głębokiej defensywy
Dobre okazję miały też Ewelina Kamczyk i dwukrotnie Nikola Karczewska
