the official opening of the modernized regional road No
254 between Łabiszyn and Barcin in the Żnin County took place today (January 10)
This marks another phase in the reconstruction of the entire route connecting Bydgoszcz with Mogilno
with a total investment exceeding 43 million PLN
The ceremony was also attended by Barcin Mayor Michał Pęziak and Żnin County Head Zbigniew Jaszczuk
Marshal Piotr Całbecki expressed gratitude for the cooperation with the Regional Self-Government and remarked:
“The scale of this road modernization project is impressive
safety for both drivers and residents of this part of our region will significantly improve.”
The modernization strengthened the road to handle axle loads of up to 11.5 tons
preventing rutting and cracking on a route heavily used by trucks
Other notable upgrades include construction of islands in Kania and Augustowo to enhance safety by reducing speeds
reconstruction of the major intersection in Barcin (with regional road No
installation of illuminated pedestrian crossings
addition of bus bays and stormwater drainage systems in Barcin and Kania
use of noise-reducing “silent pavement” throughout the route and new sidewalks in Barcin
co-funded by the Barcin municipal government
The project was funded through EU resources under the Regional Operational Program for Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region for 2014–2020 and European Funds for Kujawsko-Pomorskie Region for 2021–2027
and the contractor was Drogomex from Pruszków
a 13-kilometer section from Brzoza to Łabiszyn was modernized
along with a section from Wolice to Szczepankowo
