An EU-funded project in the Parseta River basin in north-west Poland is improving the state of the environment by installing selective municipal waste collection points throughout the region
This project is establishing various selective municipal waste collection points in over 12 towns spread out over the Parsęta River basin
Other municipalities have shown interest in doing the same thing
We are happy with the effects of the project
ecological places have been established where residents can recycle used items that otherwise would have been left in garages or basements
The project is minimising the negative impact of municipal waste in the territory of the Union of Towns and Communes of the Parsęta River Basin and neighbouring municipalities
The project has developed waste systems in individual municipalities and promoted selective waste collection among residents
three selective municipal waste collection points have been built and equipped with containers in the towns of Postomino
and Gościno to promote a more efficient waste management system
Work is already underway to install additional points in the villages of Dygowo
A network of 70 semi-underground household waste sockets has been established in the city of Szczecinek
complementing the existing selective municipal waste collection system
the project aims to install waste collection points in 12 communes across the region
These recycling points allow for collection of municipal waste from residents all year round
it is transferred to dedicated sorting plants and landfills
As part of the project’s updated waste management system
the waste is recovered or disposed of at installations located both within and outside the project area
This is drastically reducing the amount of stored waste
The project organised 100 two-day educational workshops for children and young adults in the Ecological Education Center in the town of Lipie
The goal was to promote a pro-ecological attitude among participants through educational activities with the use of audio-visual equipment
participants visited a landfill to see how residential waste is recycled and processed.
a leaflet explaining the importance of selective waste collection and recycling was published and distributed across the region
The Union of Towns and Communes of the Parsęta River Basin was established in 1992
it has dealt with water and sewage management and has so far completed and implemented a dozen projects in the fields of water
The construction of waste collection points was the next logical step in helping municipalities organise waste management
It contributes to achieving the project’s general objective of protecting the environment
Total investment for the project “Construction of selective municipal waste collection points in the territory of the Związek Miast i Gmin Dorzecza Parsęty (Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Parsęta River Basin)” is EUR 385 880 000
with the EU’s Cohesion Fund contributing EUR 269 280 000 through the “Infrastructure and Environment” Operational Programme for the 2014-2020 programming period
The investment falls under the priority “Environment and resource efficiency”

The news follows King Gizzard cancelling their UK and European tour last week
Mogwai have replaced King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard for this year’s All Points East
The Scottish band will join The National on August 26 at Victoria Park along with Perfume Genius, Lucy Dacus, Kurt Vile and more
The announcement of King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard’s All Points East replacement comes after the band cancelled their UK and European dates due to a “personal health crisis”
The Australian psych-rock outfit had completed four dates on the run
with the most recent being a headline show in Prague on August 5
Among their axed performances include a set at the POLandROCK Festival in Szczecinek
“Unfortunately due to a personal health crisis we’re going to have to cancel the remaining EU and UK dates,” frontman Stu Mackenzie wrote in a statement shared to the band’s Instagram page
Mackenzie continued: “For the past decade or so I’ve dealt with Crohn’s Disease the best I can
It’s a miracle we haven’t cancelled any shows in the past
my health is in really bad shape and I need to get home for some urgent treatment
“Being able to travel the world and play live music for people every night is such a privilege and I’m so grateful for the shows we were able to make happen in Ireland

All Points East is set to return for two editions this year
In a four-star review of the festival, NME wrote: “Every single event that has been able to open its gates over the last month has brought a fervent
with fans not only making up for lost time
but scrambling to savour every last drop before the season disappears
“Maybe it’s this feeling – as well as the presence of thousands of revellers travelling back from a weekend at Reading Festival to continue the party for one more day – that makes the final day of All Points East 2021 feel like a proper celebration.”

The government is making sure that drivers in Poland can travel on comfortable
Road investments also mean new economic development prospects for our country
Work on the S11 section between Koszalin and Bobolice has been completed
Drivers can now fully enjoy the route over 48 km long
It used to take 45 minutes to drive this section
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki attended the opening of the new expressway section
built as part of the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads by 2030
The S11 expressway increases development and trade opportunities and creates completely new development perspectives for our country
I will be able to say in my talks with investors: come to Central Pomerania
Bobolice–Szczecinek and southwards to Piła
Poznań and further to Silesia – there is a great S11 expressway,” said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki
The new road will take freight lorry traffic out of the current route
which runs through the centre of Koszalin and other towns
The completion of another section will shorten travel times and improve comfort and safety
“This is the way of life for Pomerania
Central Pomerania and Northern Wielkopolska
A great way – there will be better development of these lands
and the local residents will simply be able to enjoy a better life,” added the Polish Prime Minister
The S11 Koszalin–Bobolice expressway was built as part of the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads by 2030 (with an outlook until 2033)
It used to take 45 minutes to drive the Koszalin–Bobolice route
the S11 is to connect Kolobrzeg to Poznań and further to Silesia
We have recently commissioned nearly 25 km of the Olesno bypass in Opolskie Voivodeship
Drivers are already using this route near Poznań
For the comfort of drivers and the country’s development
the government is building modern and comfortable expressways and motorways
Bypasses are also being constructed to relieve city congestion while increasing safety in built-up areas
In December 2022, we adopted the Government Programme for the Construction of National Roads by 2030 (with an outlook until 2033). A total of PLN 294.4 billion will be allocated to implement investments
This is another edition of the largest road programme in Poland’s history
We will deliver over 6,100 km of new roads
Better road infrastructure is an incentive for investors to set up new workplaces in these locations
“Our great commitment is this: with such arteries
with a great programme of county and municipal roads
we will lead to the elimination of unemployment in many parts of the country
but they would never be there if it were not for the great investments in road infrastructure,” added Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki
Frontman Stu Mackenzie has pointed to his battle with Crohn’s Disease as the reason for the cancellation
saying he needs to return to Australia “for some urgent treatment”
King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard have cancelled the remaining 13 dates of their current UK and European tour
citing frontman Stu Mackenzie’s newly revealed struggle with Crohn’s Disease
with the most recent being a headline show in Prague last night (August 5)
which was scheduled to go down tonight (August 6)
“Unfortunately due to a personal health crisis we’re going to have to cancel the remaining EU and UK dates,” Mackenzie wrote in a statement shared to the band’s Instagram page overnight
“For the past decade or so I’ve dealt with Crohn’s Disease the best I can
my health is in really bad shape and I need to get home for some urgent treatment.”
Mackenzie went on to note that he’d “always kept my struggles with Crohn’s private”
citing a desire to keep his condition from impeding on his personal narrative
“Maybe I’m not defined by it,” he continued
[Its] looming threat has shaped almost every major decision in my adult life
I think about it and plan for it and around it every day
I know a lot of people deal with chronic illnesses
According to the Mayo Clinic, Crohn’s Disease is “a type of inflammatory bowel disease” that “causes swelling of the tissues (inflammation) in your digestive tract, which can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition”.
Rounding out Mackenzie’s statement was an apology “to everybody who bought tickets, to everyone who helped make the shows happen, our crew, our management and agents”, and the assurance that King Gizzard would “reschedule the shows that can be rescheduled”. Furthermore, refunds will be made available as of this coming Monday (August 8) – they’ll be available from the ticketholder’s original point of purchase.
“Being able to travel the world and play live music for people every night is such a privilege,” Mackenzie wrote, “and I’m so grateful for the shows we were able to make happen in Ireland, Croatia and Czech Republic. Thanks for understanding and again, I’m SO sorry. Love Stu.”
