It boasts optimized off-road angles: 22-degree approach angle, 21-degree breakover angle, and 35-degree departure angle. Ground clearance has been increased by 10 mm to 210 mm, and a wading depth of up to 400 mm, making it more rugged and versatile than the front-wheel-drive model. The all-wheel-drive capability offers superior traction across diverse terrains.   A key component of the Avenger 4xe's power is the 22.7:1 reducer on the rear axle, delivering an extraordinary rear-wheel torque of 1,900 Nm, ensuring exceptional traction even on steep, challenging surfaces. The vehicle can handle slopes up to 40% on difficult terrain like gravel and maintain up to 20% traction when the front axle has little or no grip. Celebrating 50 years of production, the Tychy vehicle plant currently employs 2,600 people. Last year, 224,017 cars rolled off its production lines. In January of this year, in the plant was produced the thirteen millionth car in the company's history. as one of the most important production hubs in the European automotive industry From the Fiat 126 to today’s electrified models the history of Tychy is a journey through the evolution of the car and a tribute to Italian and Polish ingenuity The Stellantis plant in Tychy has reached a momentous milestone with the production of its 13 millionth car a model that could easily embody the evolution toward sustainable mobility This event marks a milestone chapter in the history of a plant that has been a landmark for the Polish automotive industry and beyond since 1971 the beating heart of the Polish automotive industry remains at the forefront of electric and low-emission vehicle production alongside more compact solutions such as the Leapmotor T03 Stellantis offers a wide range of models to meet the needs of an increasingly sustainability-conscious public Thanks to the work of more than 2,600 people the plant produced more than 224,000 vehicles by 2023 helping to make Polish roads increasingly green The choice of a Fiat 600 Hybrid as a celebratory model is no accident one of three new models introduced in the past two years represents Stellantis’ commitment to a low-emission future with its eye-catching design and advanced hybrid technologies fits perfectly into the contemporary automotive landscape where the focus on environmental sustainability is increasingly high “The thirteen millionth car produced at our plant is a testament to the professionalism of the team I am privileged to lead and its passion for the automotive industry passed down from generation to generation,” said Tomasz Gębka These words underscore the importance of the human factor in this success and dedication of the employees that made it possible to achieve such a significant result There is a deep connection that links the Tychy plant and the Fiat brand to the Polish territory “Each of the brands we currently produce – Jeep Alfa Romeo and Fiat – has written an important page in the history of the automotive industry But what makes this Manufacturing Jubilee particularly extraordinary is the unique place that Fiat holds in the memory of so many Polish families,” Gębka added Fiat-with its iconic models-has become part of everyday life becoming a symbol of mobility and progress the Fiat 600 Hybrid manages to evoke a sense of familiarity and belonging The anniversary model of the Fiat 600 Hybrid features unique styling advanced technical solutions to support driving and the latest generation 1.2T hybrid engine with an output of 136 hp This model combines electrified technology in the spirit of sustainable future mobility with practicality values that have always been priorities for the Fiat brand The Alfa Romeo Junior is revolutionizing the compact SUV segment We will take an in-depth look at all its features We can indeed say that the electric car segment has just expanded with the arrival of a major new player which is characterized in particular by its bold and attractive styling while maintaining the brand’s sportiness The target segment offers consumers several sporty versions of cars but the Junior stands out from the others because of its styling that exactly reflects the aesthetic standards of the moment thanks to its technical features that have been extensively analyzed We will see how it will position itself within a market that is by no means easy to tackle production of this new vehicle has officially begun in Poland So the Alfa Romeo Junior that we will soon see on roads around the world is produced at the Tychy plant in Poland Voicing his opinion to the concern was the plant director himself The director said that this start of production of the new Alfa Romeo Junior represents the highest point of success for the project the plant has been working on for years While this announcement continues sparked debates on the issue of ‘Made in Italy,’ there is no denying Stellantis’ commitment to modernizing production lines and creating a sustainable business model for the future of mobility Tychy has been chosen as a production hub for low- and zero-emission vehicles in line with Stellantis’ strategic plan the goal of the Poles is to permanently modernize the production lines creating a sustainable business model to be used for the future of mobility This is precisely why the Tichy plant has become the official low and even zero-emission vehicle manufacturer of Stellantis participating very actively in the group’s strategic plan the automotive group is working hard to position itself at the top of the industry to effectively combat the much talked about climate change.  the task of the Polish Stellantis plant remains very clear It is to ensure the industry’s highest standards in terms of production quality to give the Alfa Romeo brand a chance to become a very reliable model characterized by completely unique driving experiences as the Polish plant’s involvement is much more ambitious than one might think within the Stellantis plan the factory is working on an innovative plan to significantly reduce CO2 emissions and subsequent energy consumption.  For that very reason, considerable investments are being and will be made so that the transition to green mobility can be increasingly effective and lasting An early project that has been completed at the plant is one involving the production of a new manufacturing facility that also includes compressed air cooling has given the manufacturing plant itself the opportunity to become independent in terms of the heat supply that is needed in the production cycle of the cars as another particularly important element has also been completed It is in this case the replacement of the heating network with a completely new one The latter was chosen so as to be of higher quality and fully automated The determining factor of this plant is that it is able to produce non-polluting heat through the use of biomass instead of coal and gas But now let us turn to the technical characteristics of the Junior which will be publicly available as a hybrid version with front-wheel drive this will be the first car in its segment to be commercially available with Q4 all-wheel drive Such a system is responsible for automatically managing the rear-wheel drive ensuring maximum grip in all kinds of scenarios As for what powertrains we will see available with the new Alfa Romeo Junior which in turn will differ in two power levels The first version (hybrid) will come with an internal combustion engine which will in turn be supported by an electric motor so as to offer a perfect combination of efficiency and performance will enter the market with a 156-hp model with a 410-km range which is the sportiest version of the Junior This one will be able to deliver up to 280 hp with true sports car performance worthy of its brand name.  The new Junior has also been designed with a vehicle weight significantly lower than all other SUVs in the segment and also perfectly distributed we know that it will most likely be the best in class This is possible thanks to Alfa Romeo’s use of special technical solutions which is also the most direct in its segment (14.6) It has been specially calibrated to be effective in terms of operational precision improving the car’s driving characteristics the Junior will also be available on request with the Alfa DNA system This system is integrated into the car to customize the driving according to the needs of the consumer but also taking into account the variables of the terrain being driven The Alfa Romeo Junior will be available in a variety of modalities which will have the right balance of performance and comfort for passengers and driver more intended for everyday use thanks to its comfortable stance which will be more focused on high-level performance thanks to a special calibration of the steering system and accelerator pedal the Advanced Efficiency mode will also be available and this mode will be perfectly tuned to be as efficient as possible excitement behind the wheel will also be maintained Alfa Romeo Junior will also be equipped with great advanced communication technology It will be very useful for both passenger comfort and intuitive systems for the driver there will also be several systems that support the person behind the wheel such as longitudinal and lateral control of the vehicle (second-level autonomous driving) This will be combined with 360-degree parking sensors and a 180-degree rear camera which will allow complete monitoring of the environment surrounding the car This contributes in creating a brand new parking system that is semi-autonomous and very practical for those who use it And this means that it will be possible to do many things while remaining comfortably seated in the seat The Junior will have a smart system that can automatically find the nearest charging station if there is a need to fill up the car’s maps and functions will always update autonomously it will be possible to perform “My Remote” remote controls up to even starting the heating or air conditioning before getting on the road there will also be functionality to receive real-time traffic information we will also find on board the voice assistant called “Hey Alfa” combined with ChatGPT (AI) to which it will be possible to ask questions The urban area covers 675 square kilometers (261 square miles and has a population density of 2,550 per square kilometer The area is also referred to as the Upper Silesian urban area Katowice-Gliwice-Tychy is a genuine conurbation an urban area formed by the merging of separate urban areas into one Continuous urban areas have no rural territory most urban areas are formed as a larger urban area engulfs smaller suburbs there is usually no overly dominant core municipality The largest conurbation in the world is Osaka-Kobe-Kyoto where four historic cities (including Naha) have expanded and merged together Katowice-Gliwice-Tychy is similar to another much larger conurbation Germany’s Essen-Dusseldorf (the “Rhine-Ruhr”) which has more than three times as many residents (6.1 million) Both conurbations have been the leading industrial areas of their nations and major centers of coal and steel production Other similarities will be discussed below The largest municipality in the urban area Katowice has about 1/6th of the population Four other municipalities have populations above 150,000 All of the largest cities have lost population in recent years Katowice reached its peak population of about 370,000 in 1987 with the latest city estimate (2019) down more than 20% to 292,000 This is also similar to the Essen-Dusseldorf urban area where the three largest municipalities each have approximately 10% of the population stretching is 55 kilometers east to west (33 miles) somewhat less than the east-west orientation of Essen Dusseldorf With its heavy industrial and mining economy Katowice-Gliwice-Tychy has a multitude of factory buildings But there has also been considerable redevelopment of the area The photograph above shows the Silesian City Center which is a large enclosed mall in the core of Katowice Modern development is also evident in Photos 3 to 6 Heritage development is illustrated in Photos in Katowice, Chorzow, Zabrze (called Hindenberg between World War I and World War II) and Gliwice (Photos 7 to 11) Katowice-Gliwice-Tychy has developed large suburban areas Suburban housing is illustrated in Photos 12-18 Katowice-Gliwice-Tychy has had historical significance after the First Silesian War and was a part of the unified Germany that emerged before World War I The Upper Silesian Urban Area was the southeastern most extension of Germany with Krakow in the Austro-Hungarian Empire while the Russian Empire extended to within 50 kilometers (30 miles) of both Katowice and Krakow (to the north and east) the Republic of Poland was established by the Treaty of Versailles but the sovereignty over some border areas were not firmly established the area was split between Germany and Poland The opening salvos of World War II in Europe began on September 1, 1939, as Germany invaded Poland, claiming that there had been an armed provocation by Poland on the previous day. The reality is that the provocation had been a ruse by a German force attired in Polish uniforms on a radio tower in Gliwice (Photo 19) the Essen-Dusseldorf conurbation also made history before World War II as it had been included in the demilitarized Rhineland One of the most important events leading up to World War II was the reoccupation of the Rhineland by Germany a Soviet annexation of an even larger area of Poland was included in the Potsdam agreement In a footnote to Cold War history, the city of Katowice was renamed Stalinogrod in honor of Soviet leader Josef Stalin following his death in 1953 with the collapse of the Communist regime in 1989 times have fared better for Poland But as in other parts of central or eastern Europe, the economy is changing. CBRE has ranked the Katowice cluster (Silesian province, which includes the entire Katowice-Gliwice-Tychy urban area) as the sixth strongest high-tech growth cluster in Europe (out of 281 NUTS 2 regions of Europe) a tech cluster must have had double digit growth since 2010 with a projection for growth in the next five years This is an important sign of economic transformation and progress has been on the ascendancy and the Upper Silesian urban area has been an important part of that change NewGeography.com is a joint venture of Joel Kotkin and Praxis Strategy Group Joel Kotkin's newest book The Coming of Neo-Feudalism: A Warning to the Global Middle Class is now available to order. those vehicles will be sold outside Europe when they start rolling off the line in the second half of 2022 according to an FCA spokesperson. The plan aligns with the Italian American automaker's ambitions to catch up to its competition on electric vehicle options as regulators push for a greener future The company has said it will offer electrified options across its Jeep portfolio and invest $10.5 billion into electrification by 2022 Polish Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin on Twitter announced the investment into the Tychy plant in southern Poland He said the almost $203 million (755 million złotys) commitment "with the prospect of multiple increases in expenditure is the crowning proof of market confidence in Poland" during the automaker's 100th year of doing business there The almost 29 million-square-foot plant employs around 2,500 people It currently produces the Fiat 500 subcompact car and Lancia Ypsilon supermini. In 2019 the Tychy plant produced around 263,000 vehicles almost all of which were exported to 58 markets worldwide Trouble has bubbled over at Stellantis Towers with an upset Italian Government Just as Stellantis’ Alfa Romeo team were being kept busy introducing its new Milano crossover SUV to the world’s media the Italian Government took Stellantis to task over its choice of the Milano name forcing an unprecedented mid-launch rebrand to Junior The problem for Stellantis stems from its decision to not produce the new Alfa Romeo in its traditional Milan home which the new model is named after – nor indeed even in Italy – but rather outside of the Country in its ex-Polski Fiat/FSM plant in Tychy Panda and Lancia Ypsilon have been built for years As if to add insult to injury for the Italian Government its industry minister has pointed out the Stellantis decision to name the new electric SUV after the original 1910 birthplace of Alfa Romeo actually violates Italian law this seems to be true as there is a law on the Italian books that strictly forbids this type of thing the Junior will be the first ever Alfa Romeo not to be built at all in Italy The marque has made existing previous models outside of its homeland for local market consumption So you see the irony of attempting to name the EV in Milan’s honour Alfa Romeo has used the Milano name before for its North American Federal specification versions of the 1985-92 Alfa 75 but at least that model was actually built in Milan possibly looking to appease the local (but powerful) Italian unions the Italian Minister of Economic Development – Adolfo Urso – says: “Italian-sounding products outside of Italy cannot be produced in Poland This is forbidden by Italian law,” referring to 2003 legislation that targets ‘Italian sounding’ products that falsely claim to be Italian Urso adds “This law stipulates that you cannot give indications that mislead consumers So a car called Milano must be produced in Italy it gives a misleading indication which is not allowed under Italian law.” this law has previously been invoked against food products not made in Italy such as non-Italian parmesan cheese that resembles authentic ‘parmigiano.’ Urso’s gripe is the latest in an on-going war of words between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s nationalist government and the Franco-Italian vehicle producing giant Stellantis The two sides continue to discuss plans to boost its domestic Italian car production to one million units has defended the choice to manufacture the new crossover outside of Italy as the economics from the lower labour cost Tychy plant will enable the EV’s starting price to be around £36,000 rather than a less competitive higher cost of c.£44,000+ if the car was made in Italy at Alfa Romeo’s Cassino factory that the next-generation larger Stelvio SUV (due in 2025) and Giulia saloon (due in 2026) where Stellantis will invest more than €100 million to install a European production for its new STLA Large platform Stellantis has recently been studying the viability of vastly increasing production and sales volumes (to more than double the existing numbers) for models that are currently not selling in the needed project numbers Proof of this can be seen at Fiat’s famous Mirafiori facility where production of the good and low-selling electric Fiat 500e has recently been halved Fiat had expected the loveable 500e to have caught on with the buying public by now but the model’s actual sales uptake has been disappointingly low and does not tally with the Italian government making strident noises about the scale of Stellantis’ commitment to Italy the motoring media was rife with stories that the smaller new entry EV model would be called the Brennero Naming cars after the location where they were built used a to be regular pastime Alfa Romeo named its original entry model – the 1971 AlfaSud – after the southern Italian location of its then all-new Naples factory Fiat did a similar thing when it first introduced model names (rather than just numbers) fifty years ago for the 131 Mirafiori Cowley and Isis immediately spring to mind as being named to honour the location of their creation The latter name of course was chosen after the pleasant leafy suburb of Oxford with none of the unfortunate sinister connections the Isis name now has Thankfully other UK makers such as Ford and Vauxhall had the good sense not to name their models after their factories such as the Ford Dagenham or Vauxhall Luton but smaller vehicle manufacturers such as Bristol Cars Caterham and Bedford took their names from their birthplaces this desirable V8 coupe took its name from the Canadian exhibition venue where its designer Bertone originally debuted the car as a concept in 1967 What do you think of the situation and the name change 2.5 million 500 models have now been produced at the Stellantis plant in Tychy is a 500 Hybrid equipped with a 70-hp mild hybrid engine: an efficient offering a fun and comfortable driving experience as well as reducing consumption and emissions Mild hybrid technology – launched in 2020 on the 500 and Panda – was Fiat’s entry point into the world of electrification It very quickly made Fiat an undisputed benchmark in Europe for electrified urban mobility thus opening the way to hybrid cars to all with a sales mix of over 50% 500 and Panda the three models totaled more than 155,000 units sold means that the 500 has broken the Polish factory’s record for total single-model vehicle production ahead of the second-generation Panda (2,168,000 units) and the Fiat 126p (2,166,000) Fiat’s icon was immediately met – and continues to be met – with great success on international markets so much so that it has reached customers in over 100 countries all over the world making it Fiat’s most international car and Ambassador of the Made in Italy 500 has even hit such exotic markets as the Cayman Islands The Fiat 500 ended 2020 as the European leader in the city car segment with an impressive best ever market share of 17.7% thus repeating the result achieved a year earlier after having also increased its share in the segment by 3 percentage points These record figures show that the model is consistently popular and appreciated by customers It is also one of the most awarded cars in the world as evidenced by the over 60 international trophies bestowed since production began These include the prestigious “Car of the Year 2008” “World Car Design of the Year 2009” “Golden Compass 2011” and “The Most Beautiful Car in the World” Since the debut of the first generation in 1957 over 6.7 million 500 units have been sold worldwide This serves as confirmation of the extent to which the Fiat icon has become part of the collective imagination of generations of drivers: of different ages The secret of its worldwide success lies in its continuous evolution Success is also due to the many special series launched in recent years showing that the Fiat 500 has always been a trendsetter with the ability to reinterpret itself in partnership with other iconic brands – from fashion to luxury sailing from the arts to the world of sports –  breathing life into truly unique versions and exploring uncharted territory for a city car These versions include the striking Diesel and the 500 Mirror and the 120th Anniversary Jul 29, 2023 | Politics Some of the Wagner mercenaries who recently relocated to Belarus have moved towards the Suwałki Gap – a strategically important choke point on the border between Poland and Lithuania – says Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki He warns that fighters from the Russian private military group will be used to mount “further hybrid attacks” against Poland by helping migrants illegally cross into Polish territory and even themselves entering disguised as such migrants we have been dealing with a permanent attack on the Polish border,” said Morawiecki today “This year alone there have been over 16,000 attempts to cross the border illegally by immigrants whom Lukashenko and Putin [the presidents of Belarus and Russia] are trying to push over the Polish border.” “But now the situation is becoming even more dangerous: we have information that over 100 mercenaries from the Wagner Group have moved towards the Suwałki Gap speaking during a press conference at an arms manufacturer in Silesia “This is certainly a step towards a further hybrid attack on Polish territory,” said the prime minister “They will probably be disguised as Belarusian border guards and will help illegal immigrants to get to Polish territory and this creates additional risks,” he warned — Kancelaria Premiera (@PremierRP) July 29, 2023 Ukraine’s National Resistance Centre reported that 100 Wagner fighters had moved towards the Suwałki Gap with the aim of “organising provocations on the border of Belarus with Poland and Lithuania” It noted that the mercenaries “have experience in smuggling and transporting illegal migrants” Lithuania’s deputy interior minister announced that the presence of Wagner forces could lead both his country and Poland to entirely close their borders with Belarus “We will not let any little green men run around here,” said Polish interior minister Mariusz Kamiński on Thursday during a visit to the border referring to the soldiers used by Russia during its occupation of Crimea has long been seen as a potential weak point for NATO in a war with Russia After Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine last year some media outlets began calling it “the most dangerous place on earth” Since the start of Russia’s war in Ukraine, Poland has strengthened security along its borders with both Kaliningrad and Belarus In the latter case, it had started to do so even earlier, after Belarus began orchestrating a crisis in mid-2021 that has seen thousands of migrants and asylum seekers – mainly from the Middle East Asia and Africa – try to cross into the EU A group of Syrian and Iraqi asylum
