The University of Zielona Góra has joined the educational program "Direction – Medical Nutrition." We are the eighth university in the country to sign an agreement with the Nutricia Foundation
thereby committing to conducting classes in nutritional therapy
the Medical Simulation Center at Collegium Medicum will receive specialized educational equipment
Students will have access to training mannequins for enteral nutrition (both pediatric and adult models) as well as simulation suits designed to mimic obesity and the sensory experiences of aging
The training equipment will allow our students to gain practical knowledge in assessing nutritional status and implementing nutritional therapy in various clinical situations
Medical and nursing students will benefit from this equipment
"The Nutricia Foundation program provides crucial educational support for our students in the field of nutritional therapy
Through both theoretical and practical classes
they will not only acquire solid foundational knowledge but also develop the skills necessary to implement effective nutritional treatment in different clinical cases
It is important to remember that nutritional therapy plays a key role in oncology
As a relatively young medical and healthcare education program
we greatly appreciate that such a prestigious organization is willing to collaborate with us
I hope our students will gain valuable experience in something that might seem obvious—how to properly nourish and provide dietary care for sick patients
The specialized and professional nutritional approach offered by the Nutricia Foundation serves as the best possible training tool to prepare our students for their future careers," said Prof
The equipment provided by the Nutricia Foundation ensures that students gain knowledge not only through lectures but also through multisensory learning
"This experience will help our students better understand patients' perspectives and effectively apply the principles of nutritional therapy in daily clinical practice
we will implement a structured curriculum with the appropriate number of hours and topics
all under the supervision of experts in the field," emphasized Prof
Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum at the University of Zielona Góra
Students of the University of Zielona Góra will start using the specialized equipment from the new academic year
The agreement between the university and the Nutricia Foundation is also welcomed by the authorities of the Karol Marcinkowski University Hospital in Zielona Góra
Qualified graduates with additional skills will join the hospital and its associated nutrition clinic
we have been a certified hospital in the field of good nutritional practices
which also contributes to our ministerial accreditation points
I am pleased that this agreement has been signed and that such well-prepared graduates will be joining us," said Dr
President of the University Hospital in Zielona Góra
Nutritional therapy is a specialized approach recommended for all patients at risk of malnutrition or already experiencing it
Statistics show that this issue often goes unnoticed
yet its consequences are serious and widespread
ranging from postoperative complications to prolonged recovery
30-55% of patients are already malnourished
and the condition of another 30% deteriorates during hospitalization
"We are pleased that the University of Zielona Góra is joining our program
Students of Collegium Medicum UZ will use them to learn practical skills
how to administer a specialized diet through a feeding tube
and how to properly maintain this equipment
This is knowledge that students have not had the opportunity to acquire in a practical way until now
but now it will be possible," explains Anna Cywińska
On the occasion of signing the agreement between our university and the Nutricia Foundation
a special exhibition titled "Faces of Support in Illness" was officially opened
The exhibition features examples of medical nutrition equipment and photographs of individuals who have benefited from this form of treatment
One of the key figures in the exhibition is Adrian Witczak
chairman of the Parliamentary Team for Nutritional Therapy
and a member of the Parliamentary Health Committee
"I have been living with Crohn’s disease since 2005
I have undergone several intestinal resections
and thanks to enteral feeding through a tube
we aim to highlight the importance of education on medical nutrition and raising awareness—both among students and healthcare professionals
Medical staff must ensure that patients receive specialized therapy and proper nutrition
a patient cannot fight disease without adequate nutrition," says MP Adrian Witczak
The exhibition "Faces of Support in Illness" can be viewed in the lobby of Building A-29 (ground floor) on Campus A
the exhibition will travel to all medical universities in the country by the end of June

and the only one to complete his studies with the highest possible final grade - a grade of 1.0
It is worth mentioning that the so-called Integrated Foreign Studies are one of the first and most important results of over 25 years of cooperation between the two partner universities
which began with a bilateral agreement on partnership in teaching and research signed in December 1997 by the then Zielona Góra University of Technology and Fachhochschule Giessen – Friedberg – now Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen
This unique form of student education was started in the academic year 1998/99
predating the intentions of the Bologna Process in this field
According to the concept developed at that time
integrated studies are conducted in two languages
partly at the University of Zielona Góra and partly at THM
and end with a thesis supervised simultaneously by mentors from both universities
Graduates of the Integrated Studies receive diplomas from both universities simultaneously
The first graduates completed the Integrated Studies THM-UZ in the academic year 2000/2001
A total of 54 students from the Faculty of Computer Science
Electrical Engineering and Automation of the University of Zielona Góra took part in the program
including 25 specializing in electrical engineering
who studied at THM at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology and at the Faculty of Mathematics
The aforementioned diploma award ceremony coincided with the annual autumn meeting of delegations forming the network "Cooperation of Universities in Central and East Europe" – CUCEE
During the THM-organized meeting on November 17-18
in addition to the hosts of the meeting and the UZ delegation (Prof
delegations from the Tallinn University of Technology
and the Silesian University of Technology were present
the network's activities in 2023 were summarized
and plans for activities between 2023 - 2025 were discussed
In addition to typical activities related to student and academic staff exchanges (integrated studies
standard exchanges within the Erasmus+ program)
efforts were made to intensify actions to obtain EU funds for research and teaching programs (the first application will be submitted in March 2024 – Erasmus+ program competition)
joining the European university initiative (concerning THM and UZ)
actions aimed at expanding the CUCEE network to include another university
The delegations also met with the Vice President of THM
the premiere presentation of the "XX YEARS OF CUCEE" album
released in August of this year on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the CUCEE network
An unusual and touching part of this meeting was the official thank you to the outgoing coordinator and creator of the CUCEE network
for his previous activities within the network
joined the other participants in expressing gratitude
Rafael Greszczynski formally holds the role of CUCEE coordinator

On August 26 in Poland Supercup took place. Team-participant of United League Zielona Gora beat Anwil – 75:66
The top scorer on Zielona Gora’s roster was Danish guard Gabriel Lundberg who scored 14 points
The most efficient player of the Supercup is Zielona Gora’s captain Lukasz Koszarek with 8 points and 4 assists
This is the second title for Zielona Gora in 2020: after season suspension Zielona Gora became Poland champions ahead of schedule
Nizhny Novgorod announced the signing of a contract with Rolands Freimanis
The sixth man of the United League in the 2020/21 season signed a one-year contract with the Nizhny Novgorod
Freimanis played for Zielona Gora and became one of the best scorers of the team
averaging 17.8 points per game with 42.6% of three-pointers
The Latvian forward also averaged 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists
Freimanis was recognized as the sixth man of the League

Few Yale graduates take their first job in eastern Europe
leading Chernomorets Burgas in its first season in Bulgaria’s top division
By the time he took a flight back home to the United States in early March
Reynolds ranked third in the league with 17.5 points a game and was averaging 7.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists for Chernomorets
which never got the chance to complete the final third of its canceled season.
Now, nearly five months after his last start in Bulgaria, Reynolds is set to return to Europe. Earlier this week, he inked a one-year deal with the reigning champions of Poland’s first division, Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra. Sportando
a European publication that covers basketball
I didn’t know what to expect,” Reynolds said
“After I was over there and was able to get a feel for everything
I felt like I could play at a higher level … It was midway through the season when I kind of started feeling like I can move up and continue to play for better competition and bigger clubs in Europe.”
Reynolds said teams from leagues in Spain, France and Germany reached out to his agent, Charly Mandic, after seeing film from his first professional season. Former Yale assistant coach Tobe Carberry
who enjoyed his own successful career in Europe after graduating from the University of Vermont
was originally the one who helped connect Reynolds with his agent
But Zielona Góra, which finished first in the Polish Basketball League five times in the last decade, stood out to Reynolds. The club’s head coach Žan Tabak
played eight seasons in the NBA — and though he was never a star center in America
he began coaching after rounding out his playing career in Europe
Tabak served as an assistant at Real Madrid
before earning head coaching gigs in Spain
With training set to begin at the end of August
Reynolds said he plans to fly to Poland early next week
Although he has not yet spoken with coach Tabak and his new teammates
the 6-foot-7 forward — whose height is advertised as 201 centimeters in European basketball circles — has shared calls with the club’s general manager and media relations director
a return to Europe caps a year of significant change brought on by his first professional contract in Bulgaria and the coronavirus in America
A family move this summer from his hometown of Jackson
where he participated in a Wednesday phone interview with the News
“I’d been to a lot of western European countries in the past
but never explored eastern Europe and the differences in lifestyle
in food and just overall culture … You miss your family a lot for sure
I never regret being over there just because I get to wake up and play basketball every day and that’s my job
It doesn’t really get much better than that.”
International basketball also presented differences. European teams play four quarters of 10 minutes each
which sums to the two 20-minute halves men’s college basketball teams play
Reynolds said his Bulgarian league lacked media timeouts
which required significant conditioning for a player who led his team with 33.7 minutes per game
Reynolds sometimes played eight or nine straight minutes without a break from the floor if neither coach called any timeouts
Professional basketball required serious commitment from Reynolds
At Yale he and other student-athletes balanced a significant amount of practice and competition with coursework and other campus activities
but his experience in Bulgaria was completely basketball-centric
He said his Bulgarian teammates “gave their whole lives” to basketball
and he appreciated being able to learn in that environment
He would wake up and leave his apartment for a morning practice
return home in the middle of the day for a nap and then head back to the gym
“There’s really not time for anything but that,” Reynolds said
The club handles the flight to the city next week and will also set him up with a car and apartment
Reaching the Polish city of about 140,000 residents requires a five-hour drive from the capital in Warsaw
but the city sits closer to the German border
Berlin and Dresden are about two and a half hours away by car.
Yale’s all-time blocks leader Greg Mangano ’12 has also played overseas for eight years
Reynolds said he talked a lot last summer with the group of Mason
Sears and Sherrod as he was preparing to launch his European career
seeking advice on everything from how European teams operate to handling life with no family or friends in a foreign city
All four played on the 2015–16 Yale team that captured the program’s first NCAA Tournament win over Baylor
Mason went on to captain the Bulldogs during the 2017–18 season
By the end of his career with the Blue and White
Reynolds had made 86 starts and scored 970 points
“Blake was definitely a guy that led by example rather than being super vocal all the time
and I think that’s a super important aspect that can be kind of forgotten by people in general when they’re thinking about leadership,” former captain Eric Monroe ’20 said last October as his senior season began
“If you’re a guy that shows up every day when you’re supposed to
that will rub off on others … Blake was great with just being super professional about everything.”
Zielona Góra announced that Reynolds will wear number 32

An MP from Poland’s former ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party has been hit with a 78,500 zloty (€18,000) fine for illegally putting up over 1,000 campaign posters in a city where he was standing in October’s parliamentary elections
The punishment was announced yesterday by Janusz Kubicki
the city where Łukasz Mejza was elected as a candidate for the national-conservative PiS party
Wszystko zostało zdjęte i policzone.Szczegóły:https://t.co/VzM9UfoYJo pic.twitter.com/U4nBSJtezP
— Janusz Kubicki (@KubickiJanusz) January 4, 2024
hundreds of Mejza’s election posters appeared around the city
As well as being put up without permission
some of the adverts also blocked street signs
such as warnings to drivers about pedestrian crossings
The posters featured not only Mejza’s name
image and the PiS logo but also the slogan “We’ll drive out Tusk”
then leader of the opposition but who after the elections became prime minister
the deputy commander of the municipal police told local broadcaster Index Radio that attempts to contact Mejza’s offices and PiS’s election headquarters had been unsuccessful
She added that the advertising would be removed at the candidate’s expense
Kubicki – who had once employed Mejza as a consultant – also condemned his former associate’s actions on social media and instructed officials to remove the illegally placed adverts
They eventually gathered 1,187 small posters and 13 larger banners
the city issued Mejza with a fine of 78,500 zloty
Kubicki notes that he was only able to announce the decision now because for a long time notifications of the fine sent to Mejza’s office and home address were returned to city hall marked as undelivered
Efforts to deliver them in person were also unsuccessful
the local PiS electoral committee also said that it was not responsible for the issue
The mayor says that the decision to issue the fine will now go into force within 35 days
after which efforts to enforce payment can begin
Candidates from Poland's recent elections have been donating their campaign banners to animal shelters
Some are also being turned into bags while one group wants to send them to Ukraine to help seal soldiers' dugouts https://t.co/sDPYscEEha

Mejza was also accused by the mayor of Krosno Odrzańskie
published an investigation indicating that Mejza had used at least 100 fake Facebook accounts to promote his campaign
In 2021, another Wirtualna Polska investigation found that a company run by Mejza – who was then serving as a deputy minister in the PiS government – marketed unproven medical treatments to the families of seriously ill children
The politician has consistently denied any wrongdoing in the latter case
saying he is the victim of “the biggest political attack since 1989”
Prosecutors are continuing to investigate and no charges have been brought
Ta dziewczyna z Ukrainy w 2020 r. zachorowała na ostrą białaczkę. Zaczęła zbierać na leczenie. another business founded by Mejza was accused of earning almost 1 million zloty – most of it from EU funds – for providing vouchers for training that there is no evidence actually took place
Prosecutors are also investigating that case
Mejza was on 15 October successfully elected for another term in parliament
he was then part of a smaller allied party called the Republicans
Mejza was again reported to prosecutors for a further alleged crime after Wirtulna Polska reported that the MP appeared to have failed to include a property worth half a million zloty in his declaration of assets as required
Pressure is growing on the government over a deputy minister accused of running a company that marketed unproven medical treatments to the families of seriously ill children
The case is seen as threatening the ruling party's fragile parliamentary majority https://t.co/sbmujPACRI
