The Pennsylvania Sports Writers announced their selections for the 2024-25 boys basketball All-State teams
Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg guard Preston Protheroe was named to the third team for Class 1A
John Fisher University commit led the area with 23.2 points per game
3.2 assists and 2.7 steals on 73% shooting from the field
Protheroe also broke the school record by scoring 50 points and tied the school record with 10 made 3-pointers in a game against Lehigh Christian
His hot shooting resulted in 534 points during the 2024-25 season
which was enough for him to reach 1,000-career points (1,039 to be exact) in three years for the Spartans
This is the fifth consecutive year a Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg boys basketball player has received All-State honors: Aaron Bailey was All-State in 2021 and Xavier Spears
Pocono Mountain West forward Adrian Brito was named to the second team for Class 6A
The East Stroudsburg University commit was the area's leading rebounder
He recorded 20 double-doubles and shot 63% from the field
He eclipsed the 1,000-point mark early in the season
finishing the year with 582 points and 1,409 for his career
Brito was also voted the Pocono Record Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Player of the Year
He was the best player on the mountain's best team as the Panthers finished with a 22-4 record
More: Adrian Brito's path to maturity includes weight loss, starting for an international team
This is the second straight year Brito received an All-State selection and the fifth-straight year a Pocono Mountain West player received the honor
joining Christian Fermin (2021 and 2022) and Julian "JuJu" Pagan (2023)

bringing over 15 years of automotive manufacturing experience to lead its advanced headlamp production
Brito brings more than 15 years of manufacturing experience, including an extensive background in automotive headlamp operations from his time at Marelli, where he worked on production for high-volume pickup trucks. He holds a degree in mechatronic engineering and an MBA in project management, equipping him with a strong foundation in both technical and leadership skills.
"Dan’s experience in the automotive industry and headlamp manufacturing makes him a great addition to our team as we continue to aggressively grow our advanced headlamp business," said John Grote, Chief Operating Officer at Grote Industries. "His expertise in lean manufacturing, along with hands-on knowledge in molding, coating, metallization, and assembly processes, will be critical to achieving our goals of zero defects and 100% on-time delivery."
Brito expressed his enthusiasm for joining the company, stating, "I’m excited to start this new chapter with Grote Industries. The headlamp business is at a critical moment as it grows, and I plan to help make it even more successful moving forward."
Grote Industries' Madison facility plays a key role in the company's innovation and manufacturing capabilities, particularly as demand for advanced lighting solutions continues to grow in the commercial vehicle and automotive markets.

Yu Darvish throws a pitch during a Spring Training practice.Padres’ manager Mike Shildt opened Monday morning’s media briefing with an update on pitching prospect Cole Paplham, who was struck in the face by a line drive during Sunday’s game against the Dodgers.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him,” Shildt started. “The good news is he’s stable. He spent some time in the emergency room, as you’d expect. He did get the imaging. There are fractures. He stayed alert. They are working through all the concussion protocols. But he is alert.
“They are trying to figure out some further testing … what the steps are. I texted with him this morning. As you’d expect, he didn’t get a great night’s sleep. But the pain has subsided a little bit. He’s in good spirits. And, again, he was able to stay conscious and alert and aware of his circumstances.
“We look at more of it medically moving forward. He’s got a road ahead of him. But he looks like it’s not anything that is really, really serious. He was able to get released last night and was able to get home and sleep in his own bed.”
Shildt said Fernando Tatis Jr. is still battling the flu. “He’s battling whatever is going around,” said Shildt. “It’s been though our camp a little bit. A good part is on the good side of it. He’s just going to require a little more recovery.”
Shildt on the regulars playing back-to-back games: “We’re not necessarily there. Manny (Machado) might go back out as the designated hitter. But we’re not in back-to-back mode this early in camp. Other guys are on different plans. Established players have their own schedules about what they need to get ready for the season. There will be guys getting on the back-to-back plan earlier than others.”
Shildt on Yu Darvish’s program: “It’s similar to what we saw with Dylan Cease the other day. Most established big league pitchers work on some things on back fields. It can be personal preference. In general, the thought process is the first couple of times out it’s a controlled environment and they’ll be able to work on a few things before you get into the stadium competition. I don’t know about Dylan, but Darvish could advance from a simulated game to a ‘B’ game.”
Shildt said the schedule of this spring training helps with veteran pitchers working on things early when compared to last spring when the Padres faced a compacted schedule while preparing for their trip to Korea.
“The ability now to have a camp rather than a sprint mode is conducive and hopefully we’re going to maintain it,” said Shildt. “The volume of days, 39 days in camp for pitchers and catchers, is a little longer progression.”
Shildt said he has “multiple choices” for an Opening Day starting pitcher and is not ready to make that decision. “It’s a hard decision to make, but it’s good to have that hard decision,” said Shildt. “Everything is on the table.”
Shildt said it is still “to early to handicap” the competition for the №5 spot in the rotation.
“Kyle Hart got here and acclimated through his first live bullpen the other day,” said Shildt. “(Randy) Vásquez is out there today. (Matt) Waldron had a nice start to his spring a couple days ago with two innings. (Jhony) Brito had an inning. We’re still stretching him out a little bit. They’re all doing well.”
Shildt on Vásquez’s improvement during last season:
“Randy’s the poster child, especially on the pitching staff, of someone who got better during the season,” said Shildt. “He started out in our bullpen in Korea, then went back down. It was a hard decision.
“The organization decided he needed to go start. He went out, came up and helped us. He went back down and worked on things. The credit goes to Randy. He came back up as a better version of himself. You don’t see that at times day-to-day. But when he went down and came back … ‘he’s better with the running game … with the execution of that pitch … whatever the combinations of those things are.
“and at the end of the year, we saw a very poised, complete guy who looks like a Major League starter.”

10 prospect Brito out 8-12 weeks after thumb surgeryApril 25th
CLEVELAND -- Infield prospect Juan Brito, who competed for the Guardians’ Opening Day second-base job and is considered to be knocking on the door to the big leagues
Brito, the club's No. 10 prospect
had surgery Friday to address a high-grade ligament sprain of his right thumb he suffered while sliding into third base during Triple-A Columbus’ April 17 game against Louisville
The timeframe for his return to unrestricted game activities is estimated to be eight to 12 weeks
“Just feel really bad for Juan,” Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said
so hopefully he’ll get back from that and get back to playing.”
had slashed .291/.406/.491 with two homers
five doubles and four steals through 16 games with Columbus
While initial X-rays were negative for a fracture
the 23-year-old Brito continued to report symptoms
Following additional consultations with team physicians and hand specialist Dr
“From the little bit I've seen of Juan
you see the potential of a power hitter that can also hit for average and played pretty good defense,” Vogt said
Brito will report to the Guardians’ complex in Goodyear
in the coming days to begin his rehab process

Keene State senior Octavio Brito ‘25 comes across as a take-it-in-stride person
He plays with emotion but doesn’t flaunt any of the above or seek admiration
the first in Keene State’s time in Division III
When Octavio got a knock on the door of his Lincoln
The award was announced Thursday by the presenting body
the National Association of Basketball Coaches
Octavio is the 39th recipient in the 42 years the award has been given; three players were back-to-back awardees
The 6-foot-4-inch swingman who finished his playing career second in scoring with 2,206 points
and whose name is scattered about the pages of the program’s record book
This resume-topping award won’t hurt his prospects of finding his way onto an international roster
His game grew more well-rounded and consistent with each season as an Owl
the proof visible in his long game-by-game stat lines noting points
There were many moments during his career when he seemed like a Cadillac amid economy sedans
his three-point shot smooth as sorbet and without range
his straight-line drives graceful yet penetrating
In a second-round NCAA Tournament win over Eastern University at home his junior season
scoring a then-career-high 40 points to help send the Owls to the Sweet 16 for a second straight season
it was the most points scored by an Owl player in a game in more than five years
and his eight three-pointers were the most in a contest in more than 15 years
He then scored 42 in a home game this season against UMass-Boston
A strong case can be made that Octavio and Jeff Hunter
formed the most potent 1-2 punch in the history of the Little East Conference
Playing alongside Octavio for the program’s incredible run these past four seasons
and record four straight LEC regular-season titles
were three other unforgettable standouts – Mason Jean Baptiste
the four combined for 5,344 career points and a 98-19 record
Baptiste and Siow would etch their names on the 1,000 career points list before they turned in their uniforms
and Aronson was a sharpshooter extraordinaire who delivered
Octavio tested the transfer portal waters after his junior year
as he readied for what would be his third coach in four seasons as an Owl
He drew interest but stayed at Keene State where so much of his legacy was already cemented
He was named LEC Player of the Year this season and garnered his third straight All-America First Team recognition earlier this week
the sixth Owl to earn the honor but the first to achieve it three times
4 in the d3hoops.com national polls and lived in the Top 25 for 33 straight weeks at one point
who had a front-row seat to Octavio’s hardwood artistry for just one season
described his centerpiece player as “the heart and soul of Keene State basketball throughout his career and the ultimate teammate and winner.”
Octavio was a quick study and an entertaining player from the start
the coach at Keene State for Octavio’s first two seasons
remembers the challenge of assessing Octavio’s “ceiling” and how his talents might translate in the Owls’ program
That evaluation had to be made during COVID-19 when high school games were streamed and attendance restricted
Cain and his staff still saw enough to understand that Octavio was a scholarship-level talent
even in what then was a not-so-normal recruiting cycle
Cain and then-assistant coach David Hastings met with Octavio ahead of his freshman season to tell him the only thing that would restrict his opportunity to play as a freshman was how hard and consistently he was willing to compete
Octavio had a wonderful first year wearing red and white
Cain said Octavio “competed as hard and consistently as any player I’ve ever coached.”
and upset Swarthmore in the first round of the NCAA Tournament
Octavio guarded the All-Americans on those teams – Marcus Azor and Vinny DeAngelo – and the game plan in both contests was for Octavio to guard both without help
The program at the time did not feature formal captains
but the coaching staff agreed that the team needed player-driven leadership and named Jeff Hunter
Perhaps Keene State President Melinda Treadwell said it best when she wrote today about Octavio’s national award:
He has brought great recognition to Keene State during his tenure here
and the coaches have been exceptional collaborators
All of us are on our feet and cheering Octavio on as he inspires Division III student-athletes everywhere.”
All of Owl Nation would do well to say “Ditto!”

Entering the game Sunday, April 13, Arias was hitting .286 with an .878 OPS
seven RBIs and four walks in 48 plate appearances
He played a key role in a few games during the Guardians' five-game winning streak
This is a really fun Gabby Arias to watch."
it's something for which the Guardians have been waiting after three years of inconsistency
They've always loved Arias' defense — both in terms of skill and versatility — but the bat never followed suit
Perhaps the sign the Guardians like the most is that all three of Arias' home runs have been to the opposite field
displaying a level of power they knew was locked in there somewhere
"He's got the juice to hit the ball out anywhere in the park," Vogt said
So I think Gabby's best bullet is that way
but obviously we know the power he has to the pull side
The Guardians have long been an organization that can ill afford to give up too early on certain players that might be considered projects
or still in the development stage (Jake Bauers was a similar scenario)
That might have played a role in opening the season with Gabriel Arias and Daniel Schneemann handling second base
Even with the Guardians wanting to operate with longer leashes for young major league players
Brito might force his way to the majors soon
especially with Bazzana potentially not too far behind
The Guardians could get creative if Brayan Rocchio were to struggle
though that'd likely have to be an extreme case to option him to Triple-A and move Arias over to shortstop
perhaps Arias is doing enough to hold down second base (along with Schneemann receiving some at-bats)
But he'll have to turn a small sample size into some consistent success to do so with how Brito and Bazzana are tearing through the minors
CLEVELAND -- Guardians infield prospect Juan Brito could miss three months after undergoing surgery Friday to repair a ligament in his right thumb
who competed for Cleveland's starting second baseman's job this spring
got hurt while sliding into third base for Triple-A Columbus on April 17
who recommended surgery for a high-grade sprain
The team said Brito underwent the procedure at Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute
While there is no definitive timetable on Brito's return
the Guardians said he could be restricted from game activities from eight to 12 weeks
He'll report to the team's training complex in Goodyear
is regarded as one of the top prospects in Cleveland's system
He was batting .291 with two homers and 10 RBIs for the Clippers
"We had him starting to play a little right field just to get some defensive versatility and try and get the bat in the order," Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said
you see potential of a power hitter that can also hit for average and play pretty good defense
The Guardians acquired Brito from Colorado in November 2022 in the trade for outfielder Nolan Jones, who returned to Cleveland in a deal before this season.
Last year, Brito batted .256 at Columbus with 21 homers, 40 doubles and 84 RBIs in 144 games.

Guards' roster picture gets clearerMcKenzie
Cantillo get bullpen experience in spring gameMarch 21st
With Opening Day six days away, Guardians’ 26-man roster is continuing to round into shape
Cleveland made a series of moves and announcements that added some clarity to the picture
The Guardians optioned second baseman Juan Brito (their No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline), infielder/outfielder Angel Martínez and outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez (No. 13 prospect) to Triple-A Columbus
Cleveland informed four non-roster invitees that they will not make the Opening Day roster: lefties Kolby Allard and Parker Mushinski
right-hander Vince Velasquez and catcher Dom Nuñez
Those players will remain in camp through the exhibition slate
The team also reassigned right-handers Luis Frías
Bradley Hanner and Zak Kent to Minor League camp
Second-base pictureBrito and Martínez are among a handful of players who have gotten reps at second base this spring
Gabriel Arias (10 starts at second this spring)
including Friday) and Daniel Schneemann (one) remain in camp
We don't know what it's going to end up looking like,” manager Stephen Vogt said
those three guys are going to continue to get reps at second base.”
the Guardians have an ability to mix and match based upon matchups
Arias has played every position but catcher in the big leagues
Freeman came up in Cleveland’s system as a middle infielder
and he has played every position but catcher and right field in the Majors
He spent his most time in center last year (731 innings over 97 games)
shortstop and each outfield spot as a rookie in 2024
Optioning Brito affords him the opportunity to get everyday reps with Columbus to start the season
The 23-year-old made an impression during his time in camp this spring
coming off of his strong 2024 with Columbus
He hit 21 homers and recorded an .808 OPS in 144 games last season
… These are the decisions that come down to the very end
play free.’ And I'm sure he’s going to have an opportunity to help us at some point this year.”
The pitching-staff pictureWith Erik Sabrowski (left elbow inflammation) likely sidelined for Opening Day
Tim Herrin is the only lefty penciled into the Guardians’ bullpen
six appearances) each made a strong case to claim a spot as a second southpaw
Allard also has been stretching out this spring; his 13 1/3 innings (all in relief) rank third on the team entering Friday
“I think he's somebody who can be stretched out to start
Allard and Velasquez each have an upward mobility clause in their Minor League contract
If another team is willing to add either of them to their 40-man roster
the Guardians must add the player to their own 40-man or allow them to go to another club
Worth notingRight-hander Triston McKenzie and lefty Joey Cantillo each pitched an inning in relief in Friday's 5-4 loss against the Giants. They are among the starting rotation options in camp, along with Opening Day starter Tanner Bibee
McKenzie struggled with command of his offspeed stuff early in the seventh
walking two batters as he quickly found himself in a bases-loaded
Pitching coach Carl Willis then paid a visit to the mound
“I came out here to give you a breath so you just can go out there and attack this guy,” McKenzie recalls WIllis telling him
That seemed to be enough to get the 27-year-old righty settle down and get his second strikeout to escape the inning unscathed
He gave up a go-ahead three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to Brett Wisely
Vogt said he won’t judge the performances too harshly
as he knows the challenges that come with pitching in relief when someone’s used to being a starter
I don't ever want to discount that,” he said
“When you've been a starter for a long time
and then you have to go try to come out of the bullpen and work on that
So we're not going to judge somebody off of one time or anything like that
We still have a lot of decisions to make.”

MLB Trade Rumors
By Darragh McDonald | April 25
Brito is on the 40-man roster but on optional assignment
He will likely be placed on the minor league injured list
The club could recall him and place him on the major league 60-day IL to open a 40-man roster spot
but doing so would mean giving Brito major league pay and service time
Not that there’s ever a good time to have surgery and miss several months
but this is perhaps an especially unfortunate time for Brito to be out of action
meaning he’ll be out of options in 2026
though it’s possible the Guardians would eventually be granted a fourth option
A player is eligible for a fourth option if they have exhausted the first three and still have less than five “full seasons”
A full season is defined as one in which the player was active in the majors or minors for at least 90 days
It appears that Brito didn’t have his first “full season” until 2022
so he would only have four seasons even if he heals up in time to hit 90 days here in 2025
He came into 2025 with just 27 games at High-A as the extent of his professional experience
He has added 16 Double-A games so far this year
he has played all over the infield and a bit of right field
he’s not considered especially strong in terms of his glovework
he’s been kept at second and first base so far
Arias has a .270/.321/.486 line and 133 wRC+ while Schneemann is at .229/.308/.457 and a 123 wRC+
Bazzana is hitting well at Double-A and it’s possible he could move to Triple-A or even the majors this year

Joanderson Brito has identified what he believes provides him an edge over many of his featherweight counterparts as he readies to kick off his fourth year competing inside the Octagon this weekend in Las Vegas against Pat Sabatini
“I think one of the things that I have always liked about myself and is a key to success in the UFC is training,” the Brazilian said on Wednesday afternoon via translator Fabiano Buskei
"I think that I’m ahead of a lot of athletes that may have more time in the organization

“It doesn’t matter if I don’t get to train now; I will be training later
I have no issues if I don’t have a training partner; I’ll be out there putting in the work
I like to train for fights and I like to put in the work
“I plan on being in this organization for 10-15 years
“Fighting three times a year and the training; that sets me apart from others.”
But it’s not just what he does better than others that Brito had honed in on through his first six trips into the UFC cage
After dropping his promotional debut to beguiling veteran Bill Algeo at the start of 2022
the 30-year-old Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) graduate rattled off four straight victories
to establish himself as a rising star and person of interest in the featherweight division

Brito ventured to Paris for a crucial clash with streaking Frenchman William Gomis
where he landed on the wrong side of a narrow split decision verdict that halted his run of success
Looking back on the fight — and his first three years as a whole — “Tubarao” believes the key to his immediate and future success lies in the finer points
“I think it’s about details now,” he said when asked about his takeaways from the bout with Gomis
which hinged on the scoring of the opening stanza
“I’m getting to a point in my career where everything can be summed up by details
“I think there are some things outside the Octagon
as well,” he added when asked to expand on whether those details are fight-specific or more varied
though he did make a point of singling out shot selection as one of the more important things he’s focused on going forward
“There are gonna be some times where you’re not gonna eat well
and I think that’s my calling card with the UFC

He gets the chance to show that greater ability this weekend when he steps in with Sabatini

Brito shared the Octagon with his fellow DWCS alum towards the end of 2023

Brito accomplished this feat against Scranton Prep
11 rebounds and four blocks in a 57-56 win
He entered the season with 827 points over three years
and with him averaging 19.4 points per game through his first nine games
it's no surprise that he reached 1,000 points so early in the season
"I'm super proud of Adrian reaching this milestone," head coach Rich Williams said
"He's a special player who is an even better person
He's been through a ton of health stuff in the past month or two
and he shows up every day with a great attitude and work ethic
and I think most coaches he competes against would agree
he is a can't-miss First Team All-State player."
Wrestling royalty: Pocono Mountain East sweeps West in King, Queen of the Mountain matches
Brito's current career total is 1,002 points after nine games this season
which is sixth all-time among West boys' basketball players
With over half of the regular season remaining
Brito could possibly be third all-time when his high school career ends
Should the Panthers go on a deep playoff run
he'll also have an outside chance at reaching the leaders - explosive guard Isaiah Wiggins had 1,571 career points
and Wiggins' teammate Lance Singh had 1,561 career points
The good news for Brito is that he won't have to strain or play out of character to move up the all-time scoring list
West needs him to be a force within the team offense if the Panthers hope to capture a second-straight district title or possibly an elusive Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Championship
So the big man will have plenty of opportunity before the final buzzer sounds
This story was updated with new information.Pocono Mountain West High School senior forward Adrian Brito was named the 2024-25 Pocono Record All-Area Player of the Year for boys basketball
Brito was the second-leading scorer and leading rebounder on the mountain and the second-leading scorer in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference
averaging 20.2 points per game in 16 league contests
All of the hard work and dedication is finally paying off," Brito told the Pocono Record
"Being called the best on the mountain is a great feeling because there's a lot of talent up here

Head coach Rich Williams had a lot of praise for his senior cornerstone
"It's been a pleasure to coach both the person and the player
His mental toughness has been off the charts this year," Williams said
"He started the season with some serious health stuff
and he refused to allow it to slow him down or affect our team
He's not only allowed my staff and I to coach him hard on the court but even more so off of it
"He's learned and bought into the West way
The dominating play he's shown this season has been super impressive
but I'm more proud of the young man he's become."
Brito had equally nice things to share about Williams
"It's been a great four years playing for coach Williams
He's helped me develop my game tremendously
or talking to me when I'm having trouble finding my flow ..
I am truly grateful for everything he has done for me up to this point."

energy sovereignty through renewable sources and the acceleration of the energy transition
guaranteeing the human right to water and wastewater sanitation
as well as addressing climate change challenges and promoting efficient water use in the agricultural sector
All of this is done with a view to achieving a balance between economic development and environmental responsibility
What are the objectives of sustainability in Mexico
Reducing pollution from waste generation and disposal
Strengthening and regulating the circular economy
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change
promoting the implementation of renewable energies
Protection of ecosystems and natural resources

What does the establishment of state ecological taxes in Mexico imply
The establishment of ecological taxes involves having a financial instrument through which to discourage the generation of greater soil
air pollution and encourage investment in technologies that reduce such pollution
It also involves the collection of resources by the entities
which can be used for environmental purposes to remedy or compensate for damage within their respective territories and to streamline processes for the provision of services
Which states have introduced environmental taxes
more than half of the states (including Mexico City
among others) currently have ecological taxes within their legislation
whether for the extraction of stone materials
The air emissions tax aims to reduce emissions by encouraging companies to establish emission reduction systems and streamline their processes
replace and use renewable energy in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and meet climate change reduction commitments
How does Mexico intend to address the challenge of waste management
In order to achieve sustainable development goals
the tax on waste disposal seeks to encourage companies to seek alternative methods of waste management
and treatment and to reduce the amount of waste disposed of or confined to landfills or authorized sites
It also promotes the circular economy for waste management
the world's most ambitious circular economy project will be built in Tula
to make use of waste and seek to reduce pollution
What is the National Circular Economy Strategy
the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources presented the document “Bases for the Development of a Diagnosis of the National Circular Economy Strategy in Mexico,” which will help lay the groundwork for initiating the transition from a linear and predatory production economy to one that respects natural resources through intersectoral and inclusive participation
Are there regulations on the circular economy in Mexico

which seeks to recover 3 billion cubic meters of water that has been granted in concessions but is not being used
The goal underscores the priority of human consumption and water security in the face of challenges such as climate change and overexploitation of aquifers
What actions has the government proposed for the implementation of the National Water Plan
It establishes ten fundamental commitments
including prioritizing water for human consumption
It also proposes combating illegal water use
What does the enactment of a General Water Act involve
The enactment of a General Water Law aims to regulate the adequate distribution
in accordance with the human rights enshrined in our Constitution to a healthy environment and access to water
What aspects should be addressed in this General Water Act
According to the forums held by the National Water Commission to encourage social participation in the enactment of a General Water Law
the guiding principles to be addressed in the law are as follows:
Foundations and modalities for access to the human right to water and its interdependence with other rights
Obligations and participation of the three levels of government in water resource management
research and technological development for sustainable water use
Plans and programs to guarantee the human right to water and sanitation
while it is essential to address human needs for access to water and to ensure proper administration and management of the resource
the need for the resource for productive sectors in order to achieve sustainable economic development must not be overlooked
What does it mean to intend to carry out a major reform of the National Water Act
The National Water Law underwent its last structural reform in 2004
in response to changes in the status of water resources
adequate distribution of resources and the integration of technologies
it is considered necessary to carry out a new structural reform of the National Water Law to meet current needs in the administration of national waters
What aspects should be addressed in the reform of the National Waters Act
According to the forums held by the National Water Commission to gather social participation in preparing a reform of the National Water Law
the issues to be addressed are as follows:
Minimum standards for efficient use of irrigation water

As a result of the reforms made to the sector's regulations in 2023
it is necessary to address the need to protect natural areas and water bodies
properly manage wastewater and mining waste discharges
What is the impact of the Mexican Judicial Reform on sustainability in Mexico
The proposal for constitutional reform of the judiciary
presented by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador
has sparked intense debate and divided opinion
it proposes the democratization of the judiciary through the election of its members by popular vote
which would increase the representativeness and legitimacy of the positions
there are objections to aspects that could pose risks to the rule of law and institutional stability
considering that it would affect the autonomy of the judiciary
The independence and effectiveness of the judiciary are fundamental to resolving environmental disputes and enforcing the law effectively
This not only protects the environment but also inspires confidence in companies wishing to invest in sustainable projects in Mexico
By ensuring adequate legal protection and reducing corruption
a favorable environment for investment and economic development that respects the environment is established
The work of specialized environmental courts
the adoption of new procedural rules for environmental cases and the recognition of the right to a healthy environment as a fundamental human right are crucial
It is also essential to allocate sufficient resources to environmental courts
including human talent and training for judges and magistrates in environmental matters
to ensure that victims of environmental damage obtain justice

10 prospect) breaks out of skid with 3-run homerMcKenzie continues spring battle for fifth starter spotMarch 11th
GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- Guardians second baseman Juan Brito has found mentorship this spring via two veterans in Cleveland’s clubhouse: José Ramírez and Carlos Santana
they took me under their wing,” Brito said through interpreter Agustin Rivero
“They always keep it positive for me to just keep working and keep grinding.”
That figures to have been good advice over the first few weeks of Cactus League play. Brito (the Guardians’ No. 10 prospect, per MLB Pipeline) is one of a handful of candidates competing for Cleveland’s second-base opening, following the offseason trade of Andrés Giménez
There’s much more to Spring Training than individual statistics, but it’s always nice to put up some good moments. Brito connected on a three-run homer in Monday’s 7-4 loss to the Cubs at Goodyear Ballpark
after entering the day 1-for-19 in eight games this spring
“I’ve remained positive despite not having the results,” Brito said
and I go out there and just try to have fun.”
Along with Brito, Gabriel Arias, Tyler Freeman, Daniel Schneemann and Angel Martinez are candidates for the job at second base
and he also is out of Minor League options
(Freeman and Martinez have made two starts each
it’s about the work,” manager Stephen Vogt said last week
it's about the reps that you're putting in every day
We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out
We have a number of guys that are competing for that second-base position
and then a number of guys that are going to continue to get opportunities
The 26-man roster Cleveland carries out of the gate will evolve over the course of the season
If Brito ultimately opens the season in the Minor Leagues
it would afford him everyday at-bats in the meantime
“We put a lot of emphasis on those first 26
A lot of emphasis gets put on who's going to be on the line in Kansas City
we feel really good about the group of position players and pitchers that we have in camp that are going to contribute over the course of the six-
“I just focus on my routines and what I can control,” Brito said
“Obviously working on the things the team wants me to work on
[the competition is] something I can't control
I just keep focusing on what I can control.”
McKenzie’s second startTriston McKenzie made his second start of Cactus League play Monday against the Cubs
27 and threw a live batting practice session on the off-day last Wednesday
faces competition as the Guardians’ fifth starter this spring
He allowed two runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings on Monday
McKenzie issued five walks in two-thirds of an inning out of the bullpen
He was pleased with how he attacked the zone in Monday’s start
“Just attacking barrels and letting guys put the ball in play,” McKenzie said
“His stuff's in a really good spot,” Vogt said of McKenzie on Monday morning
I just really like the way Triston has been attacking this camp.”

The Padres are keeping Jhony Brito in long relief, manager Mike Shildt told reporters (including AJ Cassavell of MLB.com)
that takes him out of the competition for the fifth starter spot
Randy Vásquez and Brito profiled as upper level rotation depth
Brito never cracked the big league rotation
He made 26 appearances out of Shildt’s bullpen
He allowed 4.12 earned runs per nine with a well below-average 15.7% strikeout rate over 43 2/3 innings
Brito did start all six appearances that he made with Triple-A El Paso
Opposing lineups tagged him for 17 runs over 14 innings
An elbow strain ended his season in August
Brito is back to health and has taken the ball three times this spring. He has given up three runs in as many innings with one strikeout and walk apiece. The 27-year-old is vying for a multi-inning role, which opened up with Bryan Hoeing expected to begin the season on the injured list
Hoeing is battling shoulder soreness and hasn’t pitched this spring
Brito still has an option remaining and would head back to El Paso if he doesn’t win the long relief job
The Friars signed Hart to a $1.5MM free agent deal after he posted a 2.69 ERA in Korea
held a rotation spot for most of last year
He pitched well early on but was rocked for nearly a run per inning after the All-Star Break
Kolek allowed a 5.21 ERA while working out of the bullpen as a Rule 5 pick
He’s building back up as a starter and can be optioned after the Padres carried him on their MLB roster for all of last season
San Diego Padres Jhony Brito
With Hoeing and Reynolds out to start the season the Padres will need Brito to be the long reliever
It also means Brito has made the OD roster
I audibly said “for now” after quietly reading the headline…
Team might shy away from Waldron after yesterday
Vásquez seems on the outside and Hart or Kolek seems to be the competition
Johny Brito is a guy who is going to stick around and likely find a spot in the rotation this season or next
Pods had been putting on the Ritz the last few seasons
But it appears they’ve changed up the menu some
The Padres are unknowingly misallocating assets by keeping Jhony Brito in relief instead of converting him into a trade piece via starting reps
Brito’s pitch-to-contact style isn’t ideal for high-leverage relief
and his low strikeout rate suggests he lacks the dominant stuff to be a late-inning weapon
San Diego is burning service time and suppressing his potential trade value
they stretched him out as a starter—either in Triple-A or via spot starts—he could be flipped midseason to a pitching-needy team for a meaningful return
The irony is that his current skill set (low K rate
solid control) is exactly what back-end rotation buyers seek at the deadline
Keeping him in a low-leverage bullpen role is a wasting asset strategy
which is the kind of inefficiency that separates great front offices from average ones
keep him around and continue to develop him for the rotation
Padres should have their eye on Brito as their 5
he ain’t going to bring back anything worth humming about even if he gets some starts and posts a 4.00 ERA
he pitched some good games for the Yankees back in ’23
I listened to all those games when I was in Tampa
If the Padres see Brito as a future starter
keeping him in relief actively works against that goal
Relievers don’t develop starter traits—they lose them
but endurance and sequencing skills degrade
teams don’t just pay for results; they pay for durability and role projection
150 IP) is always worth more than a decent middle reliever (3.50 ERA

who entered camp with a good chance to secure the second base job
so he’s unlikely to be a factor before the second half at the earliest
The 23-year-old Brito was a much more realistic candidate to break camp. He’s been on the 40-man roster since the Guardians swapped Nolan Jones to Colorado to acquire him during the 2022-23 offseason
Brito spent all of last season on optional assignment to Triple-A Columbus
He hit .256/.365/.443 with a robust 13.5% walk rate against a modest 16.1% strikeout percentage
Brito doesn’t have huge physical tools, but the well-rounded offensive profile and ability to play in the middle of the diamond landed him among the league’s Top 100 prospects at FanGraphs
The switch-hitter had a bizarre Spring Training
He hit four home runs in 39 trips to the plate
but those accounted for all but three of his total hits
He hit .189 with a .231 on-base percentage that wasn’t enough to grab an Opening Day job
The righty-hitting Freeman owns a modest .223/.304/.329 slash in parts of three seasons
but he’s been on fire this spring (.278/.381/.583 in 14 games)
hit .218/.303/.368 in 73 games as a 27-year-old rookie last season
He’s also had a big showing in camp (.265/.342/.559 over 14 contests)
Schneemann has moved all around the infield and outfield and only logged 59 innings at second base between Triple-A and the majors last year
Arias is out of options and needs to make the team or be exposed to waivers
The 25-year-old utilityman has hit a couple homers this spring but has only a .275 OBP in 15 games
His plate discipline has been a major problem over his three big league seasons
He’s a .212/.274/.350 hitter with a 32.3% strikeout rate over 563 plate appearances
Cleveland Guardians Angel Martinez Johnathan Rodriguez Juan Brito
Britos numbers went down every season as he advanced through the minor leagues
Needs another season at triple A to see if he can catch up
I know they will out Arias there to start but Freeman looks like a candidate to take that job on full time
His approach is different that it has been in the last two years
Poor Johnathan Rodriguez getting stuck in this organization so in love with displaced middle infielders playing Guards ball
His wOBA the last 3 years was never under 4 — on a team desperate for power no less
He has a .932 ops in over 700 AAA PAs and going back for more after having been given just 40 MLB PA
Schneemann and Freeman have had over 1400 PA of sub .650 ops production
A team should only put up with two of such feeble offerings
at least they addressed that 3 MI thing with the Freeman trade
I wish it’d have been Arias’s departure instead
