Liga II roundup: Tondela edge closer to return to the big time; Alverca still in the promotion hunt | OneFootballPortuGOAL
The exciting end of the Primeira Liga has been stealing the show from the most competitive championship in Portugal
the excitement is still going on in the Segunda Liga
specifically as regards the promotion and relegation battles
Leaders Tondela look well-placed for promotion be still need points to confirm it
while at the bottom nobody is doomed to the drop yet
The promotion battleThere are now “only” five teams that can still dream about promotion this season: Torreense
the almost undisputed leaders of the championship
It is almost certain that the “Beirões” are going to clinch a promotion
as only a complete tragedy of losing the final three matches would sentence them to staying in the second tier
things are not as simple for Alverca and Vizela
Alverca managed to win a huge game this weekend against their direct opponents in the battle for promotion
The “Ribatejanos” played worse than the “Transmontanos”
but their conversion of opportunities was on point last Tuesday
The result opened a 4-point difference between Alverca and Chaves
seem to be losing every chance they have to get past Chaves and be within reach of the promotion spots
It was another draw for Torreense on Saturday
losing their advantage over Marítimo twice
you cannot let those points slip through your hands
Before the big power outage that affected the Iberian Peninsula, FC Porto B saw the light
A bright light instead of the red light of the relegation spots
A 1-0 victory against Feirense meant that after 31 games
the “Dragões” are officially out of the relegation zone
This means that the historical Paços de Ferreira is on the verge of getting relegated
The team from the furniture capital of Portugal are sitting currently in 16th place
which does not guarantee that they stay up next season
If they stay in that position they will be in a promotion/relegation playoff
Paços are now fighting directly with FC Porto B and Oliveirense
a team that has been surprisingly good in the second half of the season
which means that they have only lost against top half teams during the second half of this season
They are now only two points short of the playoff relegation spot occupied by Paços
I could’ve picked Alarcon from FC Porto B
What kind of love do you have to have to go up the stairs that go from the locker room to the pitch after such a loss
What kind of strength do you have to have to score from the penalty spot at such a critical time for your club
as you also deal with the pain of losing your father

While this competition is one of the most unpredictable in the country
that doesn’t mean that we cannot have some normality around here once in a while
it is something of news to have “normality in the Segunda Liga” at least one weekend
Tondela drew their match against Académico in the Beiras derby
That draw made it that the first ten teams on the table (from Académico in 10th to Tondela in 1st place) are only separated by nine points
Penafiel got back to winning ways with a convincing win against Portimonense
The battle for immediate promotion (top two places) is absolutely on fire with Alverca in third place with 39 points
Penafiel in second with 40 and Tondela are leaders with 41 points
everything went back to normal as well: FC Porto B lost again
and now on the verge of getting relegated to the third tier
Oliveirense and Mafra are not very interested in getting out of the relegation zone as all of them lost their respective matches
Feirense is now the in-form team of the competition
Four wins in a row puts them only four points short of the promotion spots
That is exactly what happened with the Fogaceiros
While they were playing good tactical football
they were crying about how unlucky they were
They left the tactics a bit aside and started playing with hate in their eyes
surprise: four straight wins and a serious candidate to get back to the main stage in Portuguese football
It is rare for me to say something good about “game destroyers”
defensive midfielders in general that cannot make a good pass is something that irritates me
the moves and are as gracious as Samba Koné
it is hard not to pick them as the best player
Koné taught Tondela that if they cannot build their play through the middle
Samba Koné covered every inch of midfield and launched counter attacks looking like prime Paul Pogba
And forced Tondela to cross the ball into the penalty area for more that 100 minutes because they couldn’t create anything any other way

Liga II roundup: Tondela hit top spot thanks to Costinha magic | OneFootballPortuGOAL
PortuGOAL’s Liga II weekly roundup is back. Throughout the season José Ricardo Leite will be reporting on the race to join Portugal’s elite next season and the fight to avoid dropping out of the nation’s two fully professional leagues
the Liga II action brought some significant changes at the top and bottom of the championship
Penafiel and Benfica B lost some points due to their respective draws against Mafra and Marítimo
Académico de Viseu and Torreense moved up the table
the historical Algarve club that was in the top flight last season
are still struggling to get out of the danger zone
while FC Porto B managed to score a last-minute goal to run away from the relegation spots
This round started with two long-sleeping giants facing each other in Viseu
two former top tier teams with serious aspirations of going up this season
the Viriathus gave no chance to the Red Northerns
Académico is now sniffing around the top spots in the table with just 5 points separating them from the leaders
Previous leaders Penafiel slipped up this week against Mafra
It was supposed to be an easy game for Penafiel
but Mafra presented themselves with a solid defence and some sparks of magic
The main men of Penafiel such as Zé Leite or Reko put in poor performances and that was crucial for them to lose top spot to Tondela
It is about the Tondela team that this Championship is focused on
Even going up against a complete giant like Paços de Ferreira (who 10 years ago were playing in the Champions League playoffs) this team did not crack
Their secret could be a perfect combination of youth and experience
5 draws and zero defeats in Liga II so far
the secret ingredient may be found on the streets before a match and inside the stadium during it
the people of Tondela just does not let them fall or fail
They lifted them up from a bad start in the second half where Paços looked like outplaying them and then
passionate and with a will to win that is hard to find these days
An amazing win against one of the favourites to be promoted and Tondela are now leading the way in the second division
Liga II is probably the most competitive in Portugal and the key to doing well is having a solid defence
Portimonense cannot defend to save their own mother and that may be what ends up costing them relegation to the third tier if things don’t start to get in line
It would be a shame to see such an historic club fall further down the pyramid
next to other historical top-tier clubs such as Académica
even though it was against the bottom of the table Oliveirense
Oliveirense can’t score to save their mother
which makes them the absolute worst attack in the League
Even though they have an interesting team with some technical talent
the youth seems to be a little afraid of scoring goals and averse to the risk of losing the ball
Some experience brought in in the opening of the market might be what Oliveirense needs to get out of the danger zone
FC Porto B has the exact same problem as their main team: they don’t have a coach that can manage that locker room
That is crucial in a team that wants to be champions and in a team that is trying to flee the bottom of the table
Porto president André Villas-Boas might have the same problem in the two professional football teams and that is dangerous for the stability of the club
Costinha made the difference in Tondela's victory over Paços de Ferreira. Photo courtesy of CD Tondela official website
He may not be the best in technical ability
but he embodied the support that was coming from the stands when he entered the pitch
That spirit passed on to his teammates that almost immediately changed their attitude from one of accepting their fate to one of running like it was the end of the world
Costinha won a corner and was from his cross into the box that captain Ricardo Alves scored the header that gave Tondela the win
and everything changed when Costinha was substituted on

Emmanuel Maviram spoke on his dual role on the field
I have to focus on closing down the ball well
I also attack and support the team going forward
The Segunda Liga is a strange place where you can have no expectations at all for a team and all of a sudden
where a team has years of investment in order to get promoted and still fails to perform well enough
Tondela regained the lead of the championship after beating Penafiel 2-0
but it was more of a massacre for Penafiel than a Saturday afternoon match
Penafiel got dominated by the Beirões and lost the leadership of the division.
making it three in a row against União de Leiria
The surprise of the season is now only three points behind leaders Tondela and occupy the playoff promotion spot
Académico de Viseu started the season as one of the favourites to be promoted
who own a substantial part of Académico’s SAD
have been investing really hard to make a long-promised return to the Primeira Liga
the inconsistency in this team when compared to the investment made in it is uncanny
when he crosses the doors into the stadium
has absolutely no idea if he is going to see: a brilliant performance or a horror show
maybe next week it will be amazing… who knows
The news is they have actually played football
They have left the relegation zone and entered the playoff relegation zone (it’s not much
but it’s honest work) after yet another loss from Mafra against Portimonense
His debut had not been amazing and left the fans wondering: “why the hell did we get this guy from Germany’s third division?” But this week Vonic showed what the FC Porto administration saw in him
A strong and quick forward with an easy strike
He was floating around the pitch this week
he scored in the first minute and then he scored again to seal the win
The addons to this team are now growing its fruits as I have to give a shoutout to the young 18-year-old Belarusian striker Melichenko who also scored his first FC Porto goal
The question stands: can this team still save the season and guarantee their stay in the Segunda Liga

Tondela had the first opportunity of the match when Pepe fouled Bebeto outside the 18-yard box
Telmo Arcanjo teased the free kick into the danger area but no recipients were forthcoming
Porto didn’t take long to show their strength with Danny Loader at the forefront
His first effort was deflected wide by Mehdi Taremi

Niasse was becoming a key figure in the game

Porto took the lead from the following corner in the 30th minute
João Mário’s delivery was flicked towards the back post by Evanilson

FC Porto headed to Estádio Nacional this weekend with a view to adding the Taça de Portugal to their Primeira League title, for what would be a very welcome domestic double. Standing in their way were recently relegated Tondela, looking to end an otherwise disappointing campaign on a high.

There was plenty of drama in Week 32 of Liga NOS as Porto left it late to all but seal their first league title since 2013 with a win over Marítimo
while Sporting moved into a strong position to seal Champions League qualification by beating Portimonense
None of this would have been possible though without what was undoubtedly the story of the weekend
Tondela securing the upset of the season with a stunning 3-2 win away at defending champions Benfica
One of their biggest heroes of the day has been a regular saviour for the Auriverdes over the past two years or so
We’re highlighting a Tondela player for the second week in a row in this feature but there was simply no other option after one of the most surprising results of the last few years in Portugal
The last time Benfica tasted defeat at Estádio da Luz in league competition to opposition that wasn’t either Porto or Sporting was way back in August 2010
when a late Laionel goal gave Académica a 2-1 victory
It almost goes without saying that each Tondela player’s performance in Saturday’s win was exceptional
but they had Ramos specifically to thank on more than one occasion
Arguably for a goalkeeper of his proven class
Ramos might have done better with the opening goal for Benfica
Pizzi beating the Tondela keeper at his near post
What followed though was a near faultless performance which showcased everything he is good at
In the 19th minute Benfica playmaker Andrija Živković almost doubled their lead with a great strike from range but Ramos was able to palm it safely wide
Benfica had the bit between their teeth and Franco Cervi went close to 2-0 in the 24th minute
but the Argentine winger was denied by a terrific save from Ramos
Tondela had turned the game on its head by half-time
Miguel Cardoso’s double giving them a 2-1 lead to protect going into the second period
the Tondela defence faced an avalanche of Benfica attacks
Ramos had to be alert again in the 47th minute to divert away an effort from striker Raúl Jiménez
The pressure continued and Ramos kept out Rafa Silva’s deflected effort in the 54th minute too
pulling off the type of save that has rightly earned him the reputation as one of the very best goalkeepers in the division
He displayed superb reflexes to get down and keep out Raúl’s close range shot with his feet
It was a magnificent stop that would prove so crucial as Tondela ultimately added to their tally to further stun the Benfica faithful
Eduardo Salvio pulled a goal back for the hosts in the stoppage time
One of a few characteristics that Cláudio Ramos shares with the legendary Iker Casillas is his ability to reserve his very best for the big occasions
Ramos has regularly stumped Casillas’ Porto over the past couple of seasons with some almost superhuman performances between the sticks and he showed off this quality yet again at the Luz
Calls on Twitter have suggested Saturday’s opponents Benfica should look to bring him in as their new number one
particularly as the Eagles have experienced troubles of their own in the position throughout the season
Getting picked by Seleção coach Fernando Santos for the upcoming tournament may prove a dream too far
but the 26-year-old has certainly made an outstanding case for selection at some point
A big move this summer could see such dreams become a reality in the coming years
Liga NOS returned after a busy international break for the 25th round of the campaign
League leaders Sporting suffered a rare slip up in a draw with Moreirense
Benfica and Braga to make up some ground each with narrow victories
The relegation battle continues to intrigue
Gil Vicente continuing some fine recent form to overcome Rio Ave while Portimonense piled on the misery for Nacional in dishing out a 5-1 thrashing
Boavista and Famalicão also steered away from trouble over Belenenses SAD and Paços Ferreira respectively
Another team looking to leave relegation in the rear view mirror is Tondela as they climbed back into the top half of the league with an excellent triumph at Vitória Guimarães
Star striker and chief goal-getter Mario González was the difference for them once more and he is the PortuGOAL Figure of the Week
Spanish forward Mario González although still only 25 is something of a late bloomer in modern footballing terms
he was unable to progress beyond the club’s B team level and instead moved to France’s Ligue 2 with Clermont back in 2019
although his stint was largely fruitless and he returned to his boyhood club a year later
His homecoming was brief though as Tondela acquired the striker on a season-long loan deal as they looked to fill the void of summer departures in their attacking areas
One potential draw to Tondela for González was the ability to link up with compatriot Pako Ayesterán
who had been hired as Tondela manager earlier last summer
However the coach had to be patient in order to see his new charge at full fitness
the striker who was already late arrival to the team was severely hampered initially by a thigh injury
and subsequently a positive Covid-19 test disrupted his settling period further
Even when González managed to get a consistent run in the starting XI from early December
his participation was frequently constrained and occasionally prematurely ended by his ongoing injury which
in part due to the pandemic’s truncation of the league schedule
This didn’t stop González making a significant impact on the field though as Tondela got the goal threat that had been missing from their play
the Spaniard scoring five times in a run of seven games which included vital victories over Santa Clara
showing just what he is capable of as a player as his efforts ranged from predatory efforts from inside the six yard box to exceptional headers
his aerial prowess has been a key factor in his ever-burgeoning tally
The aforementioned clinical instincts were the driving force behind a superb win for his team this weekend as they faced a tricky trip to Vitória Guimarães
a team out of form but still a testing opponent on their own patch
The first game back after the international break meant Tondela batteries had been recharged and this was evident as they started the match fast
and in fact González should have been on the scoresheet inside the first minute
Perhaps not sharp enough to the pace of the game yet
he appeared caught in two minds when played through by Filipe Ferreira’s exquisite pass and failed to capitalise on the opportunity
González showed no such rustiness just before the half hour mark though as Tondela took the lead
It was the same combination as the first minute chance
as Ferreira found the Spanish striker with another fine ball from the left flank
and this time González controlled expertly before tucking beyond the advancing Bruno Varela
Vitória levelled matters before the break but with thirteen minutes of the match remaining González would land the decisive blow with his second goal
This time the finish was even better than the first
a first time volley from Bebeto’s deep cross giving Varela no chance
on the run and just inside the penalty area when there did not appear too much danger for the home team
Tondela survived some late Vitória pressure to come away with the three points and edge back into the top half of the Liga NOS table
A brilliant season for González gets better and better
taking his league tally to nine which can only be bettered by three players
The fact that his campaign has been so hampered by injury is a testament to his record
which now reads at a goal every other game
González looks to have followed in the footsteps of previous Tondela strikers like Nathan Júnior and António Tomané in managing to lead the line effectively and provide a goalscoring threat in teams that don’t always necessarily find the latter art easy to come by
Auriverdes fans should be able to enjoy a far more stress-free end to a Liga NOS campaign than they have been accustomed to and look forward to more top flight football in 2021/22
@FRfutebolJamie
We are now past the halfway point in Liga NOS 2017/18 and the league table has a relatively familiar feel to it with “The Big 3” as dominant as ever
sees Tondela currently sitting very comfortably in 10th place
when a third consecutive relegation battle appeared more likely at the beginning of the season
and indeed their miraculous survival in the 2016/17
can largely be credited to their manager Pepa
took over at Tondela almost a year ago exactly
with the club struggling in the lower half of the table as has been their custom ever since their promotion to Liga NOS in 2015
At the time, the only thing more improbable than their extraordinary escape from relegation in 2015/16, the first top flight season in their history, was to repeat the trick for a second year running. However, repeat it they did, a final day victory over Braga being the culmination of another stirring late season comeback to maintain their status among Portugal’s elite.
This season however has seen Pepa’s side move alongside more esteemed company into midtable security. While it has not all been plain sailing (winning only two matches between September and November), their more recent form has been superb: only one defeat in their last five matches (to champions Benfica), a run that includes three victories.
The latest of which was an ultimately comfortable 3-1 success at home to Feirense. As has been key to Pepa this season, his team selection closely resembled that he has used all year, an element of consistency that has been lacking in previous iterations of this team. He had to wait until the 2nd half to see his team break the deadlock: an excellent piece of skill and finishing from Brazilian winger Murilo, a player who has markedly improved under Pepa’s tutelage.
Murilo was very much on the fringes under Pepa’s predecessor Petit, but he has been Tondela’s best outfield player this season, as reflected by his status as the team’s top goalscorer with 7 league goals this term. Pedro Nuno doubled the lead shortly after, his deep free-kick bamboozling opposition goalkeeper Caio Secco.
Although João Silva pulled a goal back for Feirense, it was Murilo again who had the final say, wrapping up the points in stoppage time. He was given the easiest of tasks to roll the ball into an unguarded net after latching onto recent signing Sulley Muniru’s lofted through ball.
There were some question marks surrounding Pepa’s appointment to Tondela last January and perhaps fairly so. He did a good job previously with Feirense, setting them on their way towards promotion from the 2nd tier before being replaced in March 2016. He didn’t fare well in a short-lived spell with Moreirense in Liga NOS, leaving his post just 12 matches into his reign at the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign.
However, he is proving to be a real success with the plucky side from the inland central Viseu region Portugal. Pepa has managed to keep the core of the squad together as well making a couple of shrewd signings, notably re-acquiring Benfica’s Pedro Nuno on loan. Bringing in veteran Ricardo Costa has been vital on and off the pitch, while convincing Cláudio Ramos to extend his stay with the team was arguably one of the “signings” of the summer in the division.
It can’t really be overstated how much of an improvement the team have made compared to their previous top-flight seasons: in both 2015/16 and 2016/17 the team survived with 8 league wins apiece. By comparison, at the time of writing they already have 6 victories under their belt, so Auriverdes fans will be hoping for a considerably less dramatic role than they are used to in any last day theatrics come May.

With the transfer window having officially opened on Monday
Kickoff has the latest regarding the future of Bafana Bafana midfielder Sphephelo Sithole.Sithole's stellar performances for Bafana has put him in the shop window of bigger European clubs
with the common belief that it is only a matter of time before he leaves Portuguese second division side Tondela
The 25-year-old has become a common feature in Hugo Broos' starting line-up and after South Africa walked away with a bronze medal at the January Africa Cup of Nations
interest has peaked in the Ulundi-born midfielder
READ | Zungu's edge in European return
Sithole held his own against world class midfielders such Yves Bissouma of Mali and Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat of Manchester United during the AFCON
After completing the 2023/24 Portuguese second division season with Tondela
there has been a lot of interest on where the Bafana midfielder is likely to end up ahead of the new campaign
Kickoff has established that a team in LaLiga and another outfit in the Portuguese top flight outfit
with the names of the clubs protected at this stage
this website has been led to believe that to make the transfer would not be easy
as Tondela has put a huge price tag on the South African
which could drag negotiations or scare off his suitors
READ | OFFICIAL: Davids lands new club after Raja exit
The Gold and Greens reportedly put around €3 million (+- R60 million) price tag on Sithole in the January transfer window
The Ulundi native has a year left on his contract with Tondela and so the Portuguese outfit could be cornered to sell but Kickoff understands that they will only let the Bafana star bid them farewell in this current window at the right price
The Liga NOS title race took a slight deviation in Jornada 9 of 2020/21 as division leaders Sporting suffered a slight blip at Famalicão to allow city rivals Benfica to close the gap at the top to 2 points as Jorge Jesus’ team left it late to overcome in-form Paços Ferreira
Braga’s terrific run of form came to a close with a shock loss to Belenenses SAD
while Farense bounced back from midweek Taça de Portugal disappointment to triumph against beleaguered Maritimo
Another side profiting from Sporting’s draw was Porto as they nervously defeated Tondela at Estádio do Dragão
PortuGOAL Figure of the Week Moussa Marega returned to form to boost his team’s title defence hopes
Marega has been a figure who has divided opinion in Portugal for many years now
At his best he is an impossible to live with all-round forward who can also score
conversely he is prone to periods of below par form in which he can appear directionless and blunt in front of goal
This season has been reflective of this tendency in many ways
with arguably the latter on show more frequently with Marega registering just 3 goals in his 14 matches prior to Saturday night’s contest with Tondela
This could be in part down to manager Sérgio Conceição tending far more regularly this season to use Marega as a lone striker
heaping a heavier goalscoring burden on the Malian’s shoulders
For this match however the coach deviated from the trend to partner Marega alongside new signing Mehdi Taremi
the Iranian forward who was superb with Rio Ave last season yet has found opportunities at his new club much more limited thus far
The partnership showed real potential from the off and the writing appeared to be on the wall for Tondela as Porto raced out of the blocks to take an early lead through Zaidu Sanusi
Marega should have doubled the advantage very shortly afterwards but was perhaps caught in two minds about whether to shoot or cross after receiving an inviting pass from strike partner Taremi
Tondela punished the miss and hit back to take a shock lead through goals from Mário González and Rafael Barbosa
It was Marega though who would restore parity for Porto in the 36th minute
reacting very smartly to a loose ball to quickly control and poke a delicate finish over the onrushing Babacar Niasse
Shortly after half time Porto were back in front once more with Marega doubling his tally
Excellent buildup work from Sérgio Oliveira and Otávio saw the latter pick out Marega with a low cross that the Malian again expertly brought under his spell
before calmly side-footing past Niasse for 3-2
Taremi joined his fellow striker in getting onto the scoresheet before Porto survived some late Tondela pressure to cling onto a vital 3 points
Marega remains a conundrum in many respects but one that still manages to produce the goods for Porto and Conceição
After a slow start the Malian striker may just be hitting his stride as his club enters a crucial period of this campaign
The 22-year-old bagged during a 3-2 win over Farmalicao.
Dadashov is spending the season with the Primeira Liga side.
It’s been a fairly average start for the Portuguese outfit, having won two and lost five of their first seven league games.
So far, Dadashov has made seven appearances for Tondela.
He netted his first goal last weekend against Braga after coming on as a substitute.
And yesterday, he made it two in two, and managed to get a full 90 minutes under his belt for only the second time.
View this post on Instagram A post shared by Renat Dadashov (@renat_dada)
The youngster outjumped the Farmalicao goalkeeper
with the goal turning out to be the winner
Dadashov took to social media to post about his goal – which he has dedicated to his grandfather
He said in an emotional tribute: “Today after the game I got the messages that you are not able to see my games live anymore
“This goal was just for you grandpa I wish you could see it but I am sure you will see it I will miss you endless Rest In Peace I Love you.”
It is good to see Dadashov getting amongst the goals out on loan
He took his goal against Braga really well the other day
and his header last night clearly suggests he can be a big threat in the air
he can continue to make big strides this term
And hopefully he is getting good support at Tondela right now if he needs it
following the sad news about his grandfather
According to A Bola
representatives of as many as nine clubs were present for the contest at Estádio da Mata Real
with a point helping both sides move up one place in the table; Pacos up to 7th and Tondela up to 16th
Tondela were moments away from taking all three points which would have been huge for their survival hopes
They had taken the lead through Salvador Agra
with substitute Lucas Silva following in a cross at the far post
there will be reports in due course about who all the scouts had gone to watch
Here are a few players that might have been of interest to those from Wolves
Neto Borges might well have been of interest to Wolves scouts
having been one of Tondela’s best players this season
and have shipped the most league goals of any team in the competition so far
But Borges has personally enjoyed a productive campaign
and has featured as both a left-back and left wing-back this term
ahead of a potential switch to a back four next season
Borges being capable of playing as a left-back or left wing-back may well make him a decent addition
Wolves look set to lose Fernando Marcal this summer when his contract expires
He is actually on loan at Tondela from Belgian side Genk
So Wolves might have to battle Tondela for the 25-year-old
Denilson has a decent return of nine goals in 30 appearances so far this season
The Brazilian actually only joined Pacos ahead of the current season from Atletico Mineiro
whom he only made a handful of appearances for having had a few loan spells away
Lage has spoken about bringing in a new striker this summer
and preferably someone who is good in the air and able to link play
Denilson stands at 6ft 1in tall, and has an aerial duels per 90 stat of 1.8 (WhoScored). That is only slightly worse than Raul Jimenez’s 1.9, but much better than Fabio Silva’s 0.4.
Arguably, Wolves need someone between the ages of Silva and Jimenez, so Denilson being 26 is ideal. He’s experienced, but still has a few years before he enters his peak years.
Against Tondela, he started in the bench but came on at half-time.
There is a very good chance Wolves will sign a central midfielder this summer.
It has been far too long since the club last did, and all of Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Leander Dendoncker have been linked with exits from Molineux at various points in 2022.
Santos is an attack-minded central midfielder, and could well have been the subject of interest from Wolves scouts.

and in the game against Pacos he made an impression
having a couple of efforts of goal and executing a couple of key passes
The 23-year-old is a Portugal U21 international
and is currently on loan at Pacos from Lage’s former club Benfica
According to WhoScored
which is the same as Ruben Neves in the Premier League
Our colleagues at Foot Mercato report that Nantes had ben in negotiations with Portuguese side Tondela about the possible signing of 23-year-old Moroccan right-back Fahd Moufi
After losing out to Granada for Dimitri Foulquier
Les Canaris still intend to strengthen in the right-back position this January
whose contract with Tondela is due to expire at the end of the current campaign
The deal was close to completion before coming apart by the seams for a so far unclear reason
who still absolutely want to sign a right-back
who runs the Belgian market and who has a close relationship with owner Waldemar Kita
Bayat was responsible for the first January arrival of note this month at Nantes in the former of striker Renaud Emond from Standard Liège
