The DTM announced its full 2025 calendar earlier this week
but curiously both Vila Real and the Salzburgring were absent from the eight-round schedule
best known for hosting World Touring Car Cup races
had signed a deal with DTM’s previous owner ITR for 2023
but the change of promoter meant that it never got to make its series debut
Vila Real had since entered into negotiations with the ADAC for its third season of hosting the DTM
while Salzburgring bosses were also confident of hosting a race next year after upgrading some of its facilities
as the DTM elected to keep its proven eight-round schedule
with six weekends taking place in Germany and one each in Austria and the Netherlands
ADAC motorsport director Thomas Voss said: “Over the past few months
we have carefully scrutinised exciting venues for the DTM
as all the events in Germany have experienced a significant increase in popularity among visitors
we will stick with the tried and tested venues for the 2025 season."
Motorsport.com understands that the ADAC wants to expand the calendar beyond eight events in the long term
There were also discussions to hold a ninth round as early as 2025
but teams - already fighting to keep expenditure within their budgets - were not supportive of the idea
visiting Vila Real - or Salzburgring - would have come at the cost of an existing German venue
the ADAC wants to focus on consistency in event development
with an uptick in trackside spectators at all circuits except Spielberg vindicating its approach
if it is possible to expand the calendar beyond eight events in the future
any German circuit that would have been omitted from the 2025 schedule would have to be added back again
Teams were also not keen on a city race in Vila Real due to the high risk of crash damage and the travel costs associated with shipping cars and equipment to Portugal
the ADAC was reportedly able to secure insurance for teams
as half of the field competes with uninsured GT3 cars
it would also have subsided travel costs for teams
a decision was made not to take any undue risks for the time being
the DTM still wants to test the suitability of the track for GT3 racing with a GT Masters event in 2025
Although the circuit invested in a state-of-the-art race control facility at the request of the DTM
Voss still believes “that some work still needs to be done on the track.”
He added: “I think the chicane at the start-finish is too narrow for GT cars
The Nocksteinkehre [region] always has problems with water
but in principle I wouldn't rule out a test event
He added: “We would not want to run a DTM race at the Salzburgring without trying it out.”

After years of defending the Catalan language from behind the scenes
has now taken charge of the newly created Ministry of Language Policy
making Catalan one of the government's main priorities
In an interview with the Catalan News Agency (ACN), following the publication of a major survey showing a decline in the usage of the language
Vila acknowledged that the political upheaval around the 2017 independence push relegated the debate about Catalan into "second place."
This happened despite the fact that Catalonia was undergoing profound demographic changes
which pose a challenge if the language is to flourish
the shift in the political situation has enabled "national cross-party alliances and agreements" that were "more difficult to achieve" in the past
"but at the very least we should de-ideologize it
because a language in a normal state is shared by everyone
The new ministry is a result of a deal between pro-independence Esquerra Republicana
Vila believes the current executive has shown "solid proof" of its commitment to the language
Vila believes more work needs to be done and stresses the need to make Catalan more accessible to all citizens
especially those for whom it is "more difficult" to connect with the language
"We need to substantially increase the availability of Catalan courses at all levels, but with a primary focus on beginner and basic levels," he says.
He also advocates for going beyond that and creating "safe learning spaces," with the aim of encouraging broader society to "invite speakers" to use the language.
"The process of real integration into Catalan society must also include learning Catalan."
Catalan faces the biggest challenge among younger people. The survey reveals that Catalan is gaining speakers, but the number of new speakers is lower than the growth of the population.
Knowledge of Catalan is, on average, below knowledge of Spanish in all age groups, but particularly among the youngest.
For the minister, the situation can be explained by the higher exposure to Spanish in today's digital world, driven by screens and social networks.
Asked about the official status of Catalan in Europe, Vila argues that the language is already official on some level, because it is official in a member state. What is needed is for it to be recognized by European institutions. "Official status would clear up this ambiguity," he says.
It would also increase the "symbolic value" of the language, a milestone that would be "even more important outside of Catalonia than within" – in Catalan-speaking regions like La Franja (in Aragon), Alghero (Sardinia), or Northern Catalonia (France) – and would become "big news."

Villarreal CF continue innovating in the development of their young talents
in an effort to generate new enriching experiences for the academy players
the club has implemented the development of joint multisport activities
taking advantage of the synergies created through the Endavant Esports programme
to increase the motor skills of the youngsters by playing a different sport to the one they usually play and
to promote different socialisation contexts to the usual ones
with the joint work of academy management and the coaching teams
the predisposition of the families and the enthusiasm of the youngsters
as well as thanks to the agreement with different clubs in the province integrated in Endavant Esports
the young yellow footballers are trying out different activities such as basketball (Esportiu Bàsquet Vila-real)
hockey (Club Patí Vila-real) or taekwondo (Club Deportivo Granjo in Alcora)
Numerous studies show that practising many sports at an early age is very favourable for the development of children and
it opens up a range of options to encourage them to move and avoid sedentary behaviour
each of the participating academy players works together with their equivalent age group from the other club
An example of this was the recent visit of the Benjamín A (U10) and Alevín B (U11) to the basketball club Esportiu Bàsquet Vila-real
“The kids are practising different disciplines such as basketball or taekwondo
the more children they meet and make new friends
the rest of the disciplines know how Villarreal CF train when they come with us,” explains Álex Marqués
The initiative is based on this constant exchange
as they also act as hosts at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground
“It’s very cool and beneficial
because the kids exchange rules and sporting values
but another week it will be their turn,” he says
“Doing something new is always greeted with enthusiasm
Our players have received the exchange proposal with great enthusiasm
because they are also from Villarreal CF and
we will have to leave our natural habitat.”
Another determining factor is that it is very beneficial for the players to meet new people and to be able to get out of their comfort zone
“The fact of meeting new people is what the boys are most excited about
one of the objectives of the exchange is that it also helps on a human and educational level
that they see that they have teammates who are skilled in a discipline in which they are not so skilled,” explains Íñiguez
started almost at the beginning of the season
has been very well received by all parties
“The initiative is working very well
The kids are very happy to learn about other sports
It’s also very good for football and it’s important on a motor level
they can work on coordination skills that are later used in football,” says Marqués
Iván Íñiguez highlights this type of collaboration: “From EB Vila-real we always collaborate with any training proposal and
because everything that is sport is health

There was still plenty to ride out for Madrid as Nicolas Pepe and Ayoze Perez went close either side of halftime

He and Bellingham in particular look exhausted after that
Tchouameni and Courtois deserve a special mention as Villarreal asked frequent questions of Madrid but were unable to add to Juan Foyth's early opener

59 mins: Baena first off a snapshot that Courtois sees late but is able to push clear
58 mins: Gueye dribbling towards the Madrid area
The forward can't get any purchase on his shot and that's easy for Courtois
The first-half goalscorer is left unattended at a corner once more and volleys wastefully over
Madrid sleepwalking through the early stages of this half and need to wake up
He floats a delicious ball in between the centre-backs and Barry heads over
He should at least have worked Courtois there
47 mins: Perez gets on the end of a left-wing cross and Asencio makes a fine sliding block
Bellingham and Mbappe were deep in conversation heading out of the tunnel
Early on it certainly looked that way as Villarreal captain Juan Foyth gave his side a deserved early lead
The hosts continued to pose plenty od questions throughout the half
with Thibaut Courtois making some fine saves
But Kylian Mbappe is some ace up the sleeve to have and his well-taken double has him on 20 in La Liga and up to 30 for the season overall
Villarreal down the other end through Pepe

30 mins: Lovely interplay from Mbappe and Rodrygo that ends with the latter firing into the side netting at the near post
29 mins: Villarreal still posing plenty of questions as Buchanan's deflected cross is cleared by Tchouameni and Valverde nips in to dispossess Perez
Mbappe has pulled intelligently into space and rifles a 20th La Liga goal of the season past Conde
22 mins: Baena with another lovely delivery into the box
The big Frenchman is on hand again to head away from a subsequent corner
Camavinga puts Courtois in a tangle with a dreadful backpass that the goalkeeper has to chest down and volley away from danger
18 mins: Back come Villarreal with Gueye drilling one from distance that Courtois has to push clear
The initial shot is well saved by Conde but Mbappe is on hand to smash the rebound into the net

6 mins: Buchanan with a chance to show what he can do on his first start for Villarreal
the cross is blocked and Camavinga comes away with it
5 mins: Perez pulls off into a yard of space and swivels to shoot goalwards
He doesn't catch it completely cleanly and Courtois is behind it but that's a warning for the visitors

2 hours before kickoff: Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Villarreal vs
Did either of these sides get up to much in midweek
The La Liga match kicks off in Villarreal at 6:30 p.m
Here's how that time translates across some of the major territories:
Gerard Moreno has missed four La Liga games with a calf injury
The captain was back out on the training pitches late last week but sits out once again
Villarreal's only major absentee is Ilias Akhomach
the Moroccan having ruptured his ACL back in November
After a gruelling 120 minutes against Atletico
Carlo Ancelotti had plenty of decisions to make
Ferland Mendy is absent from the matchday squad after an injury late in the 90 minutes at the Metropolitano
Aurelien Tchouameni and Raul Asencio completing the defence
Federico Valverde goes back to the well in midfield
where there is a recall for Eduardo Camavinga
Vinicius Junior is the one member of Madrid's fab four to sit out
with Brahim Diaz joining Rodrygo and Kylian Mbappe in attack
It might mean an opportunity for Mbappe to operate from his favoured left-wing berth
with Jude Bellingham perhaps more focused on midfield duties or swapping in the false nine role with Brahim
Here's how to watch this La Liga match across selected areas of the world's major regions:

Arnaud De Lie third after Alberto Dainese relegated from podium to 134th
The final 5km was a heated battle between the sprint trains of the major favourites
Visma-Lease a Bike and Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe most conspicuously controlling the pace
as Dainese and Girmay shifted ahead of a fading Van Aert into the final straight
Chaos erupted as a crash to the left of the peloton took down a dozen riders near the front of the sprint
including a number of Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe riders but thankfully sparing the sprinters positioned at the front of the field
Meeus follow a fortunate early sprint from Casper van Uden (Picnic-PostNL) before sweeping ahead of Girmay and Dainese in the final 100 metres
meaning Girmay placed second and Arnaud De Lie moved up to third
"I was second already in my first race and I was really focused on the first stage here
[it] didn't work out as we all know but today was another opportunity," Meeus said at the finish to Eurosport
I felt good all day and the team did an amazing job so I'm super happy to finish it off
It was actually quite a hectic day all day
the hilly part there was also some wind with 35k's to go so I was really nervous
Then after the bonus sprint we turned into headwind
and then the sprint preparations started.
It was still a bit hectic in the final with the corners and the roundabouts but I managed to position myself well and finish it off."
With fourth-placed Romain Bardet (Picnic-PostNL) crashing out of the race with 23km to go
António Morgado (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) shifted into his spot and all the others in the top 10 moved up one spot as well
with Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost) going into 10th
who won the same 183.5-kilometre stage to Tavira last year
was part of the bunch contesting the sprint
"I was super punchy in the final 3km," Wout van Aert said after the finish
"I was in a good position toward the roundabout at 800
I lost too many positions for a good sprint."
Warm if windy weather greeted the peloton at the start in the Portuguese border town of Vila Real de San Antonio
Van Aert logically found himself at the centre of the media attention at the sign-on
through the much more rugged opening half of the course did not prevent nine Portuguese riders and one Briton going clear
in what potentially constituted a serious challenge to the sprinters and WorldTour teams present.
nominally represented the most serious threat overall
but the allure of some time off the front and perhaps a breakaway win were the most obvious goals for the 10-man move
also containing Gonçalo Oliveira (Anicolor-Tien 21)
Bruno Silva (Tavfer-Ovos Matinados-Mortagua)
Carlos Miguel Salgueiro (APHotels & Resorts-Tavira-SC Farense) Noah Campos and André Ribeiro (GI Group Holding-Simoldes-UDO)
Joao Oliveira (Credibom-LA Aluminios-Marcos Car) and César Fonte (Radio Popular-Paredes-Boavista)
By the foot of the first of the day's two classified climbs
the 10 still held a solid three-minute gap
But the climb itself began to take its toll
with Joao Oliveira one of the first to be dropped
and the remainder of the breakaway shedding time as well.
the entire front move was recaptured and the sprinters' teams
kept a strict eye on proceedings as the race moved towards the summit
After German Nicolás Tivani (Aviludo-Louetano-Loule) darted ahead over the top to recapture the lead in the mountains classification from Foia winner Jan Christen (UAE Team Emirates-XRG)
EF Education-EasyPost led the pack off the descent
Soudal-QuickStep and Groupama-FDJ were notably present
in the front part of the peloton as it zipped along a broad 'A'-road back down from inland towards the very windy segment of Atlantic coastline
The unmistakeable figure of Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) at the head of affairs added yet more speed to the peloton as it moved into the final 30 kilometres
speeded along by a brisk tailwind and well-surfaced roads
After rattling through the cobbled boulevards and past the famous lighthouse in the start town of Vila Real for a second time
a 90-degree turn brought the pack onto the long series of straightaways leading to the finish in Tavira
Just as a crash brought down Bardet and Picnic-PostNL teammate Romain Combaud
Lidl-Trek put in their first concerted effort of the day on the front
With the peloton together and a flat 20km ahead
it was for the sprinters' teams to orchestrate their lead-out trains
and all eyes were on Intermarché-Wanty
Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe and Visma–Lease a Bike

A young center that competes in Spanish football could become the next signing for Villarreal
Villarreal is already beginning to plan its next transfer window with a focus on young talents to strengthen its defense
One of the names that has emerged strongly on the Yellow Submarine's agenda is Ladislav Krejci
the Czech defender has managed to establish himself in the elite of Spanish football
and his performance has not gone unnoticed by the sports officials of the Castellon team
Krejci has been gaining importance in the locker room and has become a key player for his coach
and strength in aerial play have been crucial for the Catalan team to maintain solidity in demanding moments of the season
his youth and potential for improvement make him even more attractive for a project that aims to rejuvenate its defense
the idea of reinforcing the defense with emerging profiles makes more and more sense
The club is looking for long-term solutions and believes that the Czech defender can bring stability and future prospects
It is not the first time that the Yellow Submarine has invested in promising footballers within European football
and Krejci's case fits this recruitment model
The monitoring of the player has been constant in recent months
is aware of the value the player has acquired and will not let him go easily
Krejci's season has increased his market value
they know they can profit financially if the move is confirmed
All signs point to the fact that if Villarreal decides to take the final step
they will have to negotiate firmly to successfully close a deal that appears to be strategic

Villarreal CF are setting record goalscoring records in the current LALIGA EA Sports season
Marcelino’s side have scored 44 goals
something that had never been achieved by the Yellows in the top flight at this stage of the competition
One of the highest scoring teams in LALIGA EA Sports
The Submarine are the third highest scorers this season (44)
behind only Real Madrid (50) and FC Barcelona (60)
Marcelino’s side manage to find the back of the net with ease
They score an average of two goals per game
which translates into a total of 44 goals in 22 games played in LALIGA EA Sports
A collective contribution is more than necessary to become one of the highest-scoring teams in the history of Villarreal CF
Up to 16 different players have contributed goals or assists
Each and every one of the offensive players in the squad who have played a minute or two have managed to score goals or assist a teammate
it is worth highlighting the figure of Ayoze
offering a very high level and helping the team with goals and assists
His goalscoring figures make him -for the moment- the current top Spanish goalscorer in LALIGA EA Sports
but his goals per minute average puts him ahead
The striker manages to find the back of the net every 93 minutes played in LALIGA EA Sports
A common factor: being strong at home and finishing in Europe
Whenever Villarreal CF have stood out for their goalscoring record
as well as finishing in the Champions League or Europa League places
they have always managed to be a more than reliable team at home
the Submarine are looking to improve their numbers at the Estadio de la Cerámica in the second half of the season
despite more draws than they would have liked
they have only been defeated in two home games so far
A record that is in line with the seasons in which they have been the highest scorers
they have lost a total of four games at La Cerámica
The squad and the coaching staff are committed to the objective of being solid at the Estadio de la Cerámica
The fans were able to enjoy two wins and very attractive football in the last matches played in Vila-real
against RCD Mallorca (4-0) and Real Valladolid CF (5-1)
Since its first season in the national top flight
the club has enjoyed very attacking and high scoring teams
none of them managed to score more than 44 goals in the league after the first 22 games
Among the historical teams that have come closest to these records are
also coached by current head coach Marcelino
managed to reach the figure of 42 goals on Matchday 22
The Yellows club finished the league campaign in sixth place
Uche (14 goals) and Giovani Dos Santos (11 goals and 8 assists) and Jony Pereira (4 goals and 6 assists) contributed
In the year in which they finished runners-up
the team only lost four games at El Madrigal
the Submarine achieved their best ever league championship position
finishing runners-up and gaining direct access to the Champions League for the second time in the club’s history
Rossi (11 goals and 2 assists) and Guille Franco (8 goals and 3 assists) helped the team’s performance
Pellegrini’s side were also the team
Villarreal CF and the IES Miralcamp school in Vila-real have renewed the collaboration agreement that they entered into almost a decade ago and which establishes joint lines of action for the comprehensive education of the youngsters who play for the Yellow Submarine and study at the school in Vila-real
located just a few steps away from the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground

Nàdia de los Rosales and Sebastià Roglà; and the coordinator of Formative Cycles
both Villarreal CF and IES Miralcamp reaffirm their commitment to collaborate together with the aim of training and educating Villarreal’s academy players
The Yellows strive to offer the best education to their youngest players
looking for a good performance not only in the sporting field
allocating significant resources in their integral formation as individuals
hundreds of academy players have had the opportunity to train at IES Miralcamp
more than 50 youth players attend this educational centre
which is located just a few metres from the Training Ground
The current head to head record for the teams are Villarreal 6 win(s)

Villarreal CF will be present at this year’s edition of the International Tourism Fair in Madrid (Fitur – Feria Internacional de Turismo de Madrid)
which will be held from 22nd to 26th January at IFEMA (Fair Institution of Madrid)
The Yellows will attend this prestigious international event together with Vila-real Town Council to show the world the city’s tourism and sporting potential
with Villarreal CF as its main sporting ambassador and the Estadio de la Cerámica project
which transcends the boundaries of sport to become a space of tourist interest and a spectacular meeting point with a wide range of leisure and gastronomic options
The Submarine’s recent continental successes
such as Villarreal’s historic triumph in the UEFA Europa League in 2021 or the historic performance in the UEFA Champions League in 2022
have made a decisive contribution to positioning Vila-real as a world-renowned town linked to sport
A positioning that Villarreal CF has been reinforcing thanks to the impressive trajectory in the elite of national and continental football over the last two decades
in which it has become one of the most recognised sports brands on the planet
the club’s president and a successful businessman in the ceramics sector
Villarreal launched an ambitious project around its home: the Estadio de la Cerámica
The Yellows stadium adopted this name that pays tribute to the most important economic engine of our homeland and brings together the sponsorship of the main companies in the province of Castellón
the entity led an impressive reform that has turned Villarreal’s stadium into much more than a sports facility; a multifunctional space with a wide gastronomic and leisure offer linked to sport
The Estadio de la Cerámica is not only an exceptional setting to enjoy elite football
carried out by Villarreal CF during its centenary year
the stadium has impressive spaces such as the 1923 Club
a state-of-the-art lecture theatre and an official store
after reaching an agreement with Vila-real Town Council
adjacent to the Fondo Sur of the Estadio de la Cerámica
which has become a meeting and cultural space
sporting and cultural events linked to Villarreal CF and the city’s social agenda have taken place
This large space is presided over by two impressive sculptures by the prestigious artist Jaume Plensa
which have been donated to the town by the Fundación Hortensia Herrero and Mercadona
As a result of the work between Villarreal CF and the municipal corporation
Vila-real has become the ‘town of football’
being the town with the most football pitches per capita in Europe (17 per 52,000 inhabitants)
the city has 27 municipal sports facilities
including five pavilions and three swimming pools
totalling nearly 75,000 square metres dedicated to sport and health promotion
The presentation will take place on Wednesday 22nd January at 12pm CET at the Region of Valencia Tourism stand at Fitur
where the town of Vila-real will be represented by the Provincial Tourist Board

Kylian Mbappe is now just one goal behind Robert Lewandowski in the La Liga top scorer charts
Kylian Mbappe fired Real Madrid back to the top of La Liga as he scored twice in a comeback victory at Villarreal
Juan Foyth opened the scoring for the hosts but two Mbappe strikes in six first-half minutes earned the points for Madrid
It puts Los Blancos three points clear of previous leaders Barcelona
who visit third-placed Atletico Madrid on Sunday night
five points off the Champions League qualification places after back-to-back league defeats
with top scorer Ayoze Perez twice denied by Thibaut Courtois in the opening seven minutes
After Courtois tipped a low curling Perez effort behind
Villarreal scored from the resulting corner when captain Foyth slammed home amid a goalmouth scramble
This sparked Madrid and Mbappe into life and they equalised 10 minutes later
Mbappe played a through ball to Brahim Diaz and
the Frenchman was on hand to score the rebound
Mbappe ran straight back to the centre-circle without celebrating
He meant business and showed it again on 23 minutes
Mbappe was given too much space on the edge of the Villarreal box and used it to curl a shot unstoppably past Conde
It moves Mbappe to 20 league goals this season
just one behind La Liga top scorer Robert Lewandowski
Having endured a tough start to life in Madrid
Mbappe has firmly found his feet and will be essential to Real's push for both La Liga and Champions League success
with usual attacking partner Vinicius Junior starting on the bench following a below-par showing against Atletico in midweek
Villarreal did push Madrid hard in a fixture which ended 4-4 last season and proved entertaining again here
Courtois had to go full stretch shortly before half-time to keep out a long-range effort from Nicholas Pepe and again to deny Alex Baena after the break
Villarreal captain Juan Foyth (third right) fired his side ahead from close range
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti expressed his fury at the lack of rest following their Champions League marathon against Atletico on Wednesday
Madrid played three days after beating their city rivals on penalties following 120 minutes of action at Wanda Metropolitano
Ancelotti said Real would refuse to play any further games with less than three days between them
Ancelotti said: "We held our own physically
In the second half the team was exhausted but that was normal
This victory speaks volumes about the team and the resources this squad has
"This is the last time we'll play a game without 72 hours of rest
We asked La Liga to change it twice and nothing happened."
The win at Villarreal took place 66 hours after Madrid set up a Champions League quarter-final with Arsenal by beating Atletico
Fifa recommended a minimum compulsory rest period of 72 hours between games
which Madrid have invoked in their protest to La Liga

Villarreal managed to break through the Bordalás blockade
but it was not enough to secure victory (1-1)
Villarreal had the game under control when the referee awarded a harsh and rigorous penalty at the end of the game
which punished Marcelino’s men and made the away side rejoice
Arambarri cancelled out Santi Comesaña’s early goal and snatched two points from the home team
The Groguets returned home after the international break
instead of being a respite and an opportunity to recover
saw Marcelino’s side face the game with numerous absentees due to injury and many other players not being fully match fit
The motivation of winning again at the Estadio de la Cerámica was
the best antidote to overcome the limitations
Marcelino fielded Pape Gueye as a second striker
the talent and the bite of Álex Baena and Ilias Akhomach
accompanying the tireless Sergi Cardona and Kiko Femenía
neither Getafe nor Villarreal had enough clarity to find the opposition goal
The first clear chance of the game came from Pape Gueye
The Senegalese’s header narrowly missed the target from a strategic move down the right flank
The Submarine relied on quick transitions in an attempt to surprise Getafe and give pace to a tight game with too many interruptions
A slate move ended with a shot from Sergi Cardona in the heart of the area
It was the best minutes so far for Marcelino’s team
This time with a strong left-footed shot from the edge of the area that David Soria saved somewhat awkwardly
Dani Parejo opened up on the left for Sergi Cardona
The Catalan controlled the ball and put it into the box
who was hit by the ball and it remained dead inside the area
There Santi Comesaña arrived to beat Soria and put the Yellows ahead before the break
The goal came at a very important moment that hurt Getafe a lot
young defender Pau Navarro came on to replace Eric Bailly
who was persistently struggling with a shoulder injury during the final stretch of the first half
The early stages of the second half were a faithful continuation of the first 45 minutes
Getafe made the Yellows uncomfortable on the ball
They pressed high and looked for their chance especially in second balls
Yildirim beat the centre-backs and tested Diego Conde from the edge of the area
the side from Madrid had the clearest chance of the second half
Álvaro’s header hit the post after a cross from Carles Pérez on the right flank
It was the second warning to a Submarine side who were unable to exploit the spaces
In the immediate aftermath of the substitution
The Senegalese received a fantastic first-time assist from Baena in the penalty area and shot at the far post
the game went into the final period wide open
Getafe did not give up and kept looking for the equaliser
Peter Federico had a shot offside and Yildirim had a clear header saved by Diego Conde with a fantastic save
And 1-1 came in the 87th minute when Raúl Albiol conceded a harsh penalty to Yildirim
The Yellows’ centre-back left his hand in his face in a move in which the ball was not even aimed at the Turkish striker
A lot of punishment for the Yellows’ work
The Submarine had no time to react and Getafe
for whom the 1-1 scoreline seemed like a precious prize
prevented any real football from being played in stoppage time

Real opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Turkish youngster Arda Guler slotted home a low strike off a Brahim Diaz pass before Joselu doubled the lead with a close-range header on the half-hour mark
- Stream on ESPN+: LaLiga, Bundesliga, more (U.S.)
Sørloth pulled one back for Villarreal with a towering header in the 39th minute, but Lucas Vazquez restored Real's two-goal advantage only a minute later before Guler made it 4-1 in the final seconds of the first half
with Sørloth scoring three goals in eight minutes
Madrid face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final in two weeks but manager Carlo Ancelotti said the result "doesn't worry him."
We conceded more goals than necessary but that doesn't matter
it has nothing to do with the [Champions League] final
in attack we played well and Arda [Guler] above all showed something special," he said after the game

Villarreal forward Alexander Sørloth struck four times in 17 minutes to help his side fight back and snatch a 4-4 home draw against champions Real Madrid on Sunday as the Norway international became LaLiga's top scorer
Real opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Turkish youngster Arda Guler slotted home a low strike off a Brahim Diaz pass before Joselu doubled the lead with a close-range header on the half-hour mark

Sørloth pulled one back for Villarreal with a towering header in the 39th minute, but Lucas Vazquez restored Real's two-goal advantage only a minute later before Guler made it 4-1 in the final seconds of the first half
Madrid face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final in two weeks but manager Carlo Ancelotti said the result \"doesn't worry him.\"

Ilias Akhomach appeared before the media on Wednesday to analyse the current goings-on with Villarreal CF
who face FC Barcelona this Sunday at 6:30pm CEST at the Estadio de la Cerámica
The Spanish-Moroccan attacker underlined the team’s improvement with the arrival of the league competition: “I wasn’t there in pre-season
but I followed the team closely from Paris and I think we have improved in many aspects at the start of the season
The games have also been going in our favour lately.”
Ilias warned of the difficulty of facing FC Barcelona: “It’s always difficult to face Barça
But we have clear ideas and we’re working on them so that they come out of the game
We’re going to do everything we can to try and win it.”
it is always a special match: “It is
I spent all my childhood there and I have great memories
Everything I took away from the club is positive.”
The Yellows No.11 predicts a competitive match with plenty of alternatives: “It will be a very nice game to watch
We simply tell the fans to come and enjoy the game.”
Ilias has affirmed that his objective is to succeed with Villarreal and to do so in European football: “I have clear ideas
I left Barcelona to come here and succeed at Villarreal
I have had offers that I had to listen to because they are surprising
but as I say I have very clear ideas and they are to stay here and succeed in Vila-real.”
When asked about the competition in attack
Akhomach was calm and assured that it is positive for the team: “It makes us better
It makes it difficult for the head coach to make a decision
but it’s good for the team because it forces us to give everything in every training session.”
Ilias also spoke about the good start to the competition: “We’ve had a very good start to the season
We’ve started this season at the top
although we can’t forget that two or three bad games can put you at the bottom
so we have to give our best in every game”
And on the objectives of the current campaign
he added: “Villarreal have a team capable of being at the top
We’ve only just started and we’ve only had a few games under our belts
But being in Europe is a goal we have in mind.”

The city of Vila Real in northern Portugal
During the Middle Ages the city hosted more members of royalty than any other city, except for Lisbon
which earned it the name “Royal City,” translated to Vila Real in Portuguese
a sword embedded in a wreath of zambujeir (wild olive branches)
still shines proudly on older homes in the city today
These stately once-royal residences line the main streets of the city
many adorned with Manueline-style windows and wrought-iron balconies
The most famous royal residence in the area is the Palácio de Mateus
used as a holiday home for the Portuguese royal family during the 6th and 7th centuries
Built in 1745, the home is proudly displayed on every bottle of its famous Mateus Rosé. The entire area once flourished as a port and wine producer before it was moved to Porto
Vila Real winters are cold and wet with even a bit of snow at times
Lows can dip down to 30 F and highs stay in the ’40s
For those seeking to live a Portuguese lifestyle
fully immersed in the culture and language (along with cooler temperatures)
Vila Real offers first-rate healthcare with both public and private hospitals and dental clinics
a well-known private facility with branches throughout Portugal
expats can also take advantage of the low-cost public healthcare system
free to join with small copays to see a doctor
the cost to see a doctor begins at $5.75 but varies with treatment
Even in the private system costs are far lower than what you would pay in the U.S
To see an English-speaking general practitioner of your choice you can expect to pay around $41
often without a prescription and for a whole lot less money too
Shopping buffs can enjoy some retail-tainment at Nosso Shopping

and cinema where first-run movies are run in English
The cost of a movie is $8 but deals can be found that include dinner and a movie for one low price
Nearby you’ll find Continente and Pingo Doce supermarkets along with Aldi and Lidl
This area receives fewer tourists than neighboring Porto
so those who choose to live here would need to learn Portuguese
since the Portuguese people love to help foreigners learn their language and are always willing to chat to help you hone your skills
you will be invited to dinners at their homes and become like one of the family
The Portuguese government offers free language lessons to foreigners
These are held at local high schools and typically run in conjunction with the school year
and group or private lessons at nearby language schools or universities

VILA-REAL (Spain): Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said Saturday his team will not play another football game after fewer than 72 hours of rest
Los Blancos beat Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night in the Champions League on penalties and then earned a 2-1 win at Villarreal on Saturday
“I think today is the last time we will play a game before 72 hours (of rest),“ Ancelotti told reporters
“We will never play another game (without) 72 hours of rest
“We asked La Liga twice to change the time of the game and they did not do anything
World football governing body FIFA recommends at least 72 hours between matches in order to protect the health of the players
French striker Kylian Mbappe struck twice for Madrid against Villarreal to take them top of La Liga ahead of Barcelona's game at Atletico on Sunday
“I am very proud of this team,“ continued Ancelotti
Ancelotti has regularly complained about the packed football calendar
with Madrid one of the clubs who will also be involved at the expanded Club World Cup this summer in the United States
but we have to respect the club badge and fight until the end
and we did that today and we were able to win,“ Mbappe told Real Madrid TV
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said the scheduling of the game was disrespectful to Madrid
I’m happy to say we did not lose or draw because of the tiredness
but it’s not normal playing (at this time) today,“ said Courtois
“I know La Liga don’t like to put (the three biggest teams) on the same day
it was a lack of respect to the team and our players
because we could have left here with someone injured
“Tomorrow is Atletico against Barca and that’s not a problem
it could be a ‘Super Sunday’ with Madrid playing first.”

has injured his neck and is being "monitored" by the club
Dani Carvajal has confirmed he will need surgery after suffering a "serious" cruciate ligament injury in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Villarreal at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu
The Spain right-back was left screaming in agony after seemingly over-extending his knee in a collision with Yeremy Pino in added time
and was carried off the pitch on a stretcher in tears
"Serious cruciate ligament injury confirmed
I'm going to have to go through surgery and be off the field for a few months," Carvajal
"Already looking forward to starting recovery and coming back like a beast."
Speaking immediately after the win which continued Real's unbeaten start to the La Liga season
manager Carlo Ancelotti said his players were "sad" and "worried" for Carvajal
He added: "Something happened that happens a lot
A Real Madrid statement, external on Sunday said that Carvajal had "a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament
a ruptured external collateral ligament and a ruptured popliteus tendon in his right leg" and would have an operation in "the coming days"
The Spanish club later announced that Carvajal
who has won the Champions League six times and La Liga four times with the club
has extended his contract with them until 30 June
"Real Madrid would like to show him all its support and affection and wishes him a speedy recovery so that we can enjoy his football on the pitch again as soon as possible," said the Bernabeu outfit
the La Liga side said that Brazil forward Vinicius Junior had suffered a neck injury and his "progress will be monitored"
Real's victory came after a shock defeat by Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Federico Valverde gave Real the lead in the 14th minute on Saturday when his shot from the edge of the box found the bottom left corner after deflecting off the unfortunate Alex Baena.
Moments later, Villarreal almost equalised when Nicolas Pepe's header clipped the crossbar from Baena's cross, before Thierno Barry headed over the bar.
Vinicius Junior made sure of the victory with 17 minutes left to play, launching a fierce effort from long range into the top corner.
Real had further chances to increase their lead but Antonio Rudiger sent a header over the bar and England international Jude Bellingham's long-range effort sailed wide of the post.
Villarreal thought they had a penalty five minutes after the break when Aurelien Tchouameni fouled Barry, but the French forward was adjudged to be offside.
Baena's 25-yard free-kick grazed the side-netting as the away side continued to probe but ultimately failed to find a way back into the game.
Ancelotti's side are now undefeated in 41 La Liga matches (W30 D11), the second best unbeaten streak by a team in the entire history of the competition.
Rivals Barcelona are the only side to better that, with a 43-game unbeaten league run (W34 D9) in 2018.

Following an agreement with Vila Real circuit management
CREVENTIC has confirmed that it will host its first-ever endurance race on a street track when the 24H Series travels to Portugal for a race on the Circuito Internacional de Vila Real in July
The new 6H Vila Real event will be a non-championship round for 24H Series and will be held on July 14-16
a week after the inaugural 12H Estoril event
CREVENTIC says that it is exploring the opportunity to host the event in the future as a point-scoring race
the Circuito Internacional de Vila Real has become the 25th different circuit to host a race from the Dutch promoter since the inaugural 24H Series event at the Dubai Autodrome in 2006
“This is a very big moment for us,” says Helen Roukens
“We are always looking for ways to expand our horizons for our competitors and our fans
as we’ve proven at many of the most celebrated racing venues around the world
“So to be given the chance to host an endurance event at one of Portugal’s most charismatic street circuits is a great opportunity for CREVENTIC and our teams
many of whom we are confident will be excited to make this step with us
We’d like to thank the management team at the Circuito Internacional de Vila Real for their help in making the 6H VILA REAL a reality.”
The Vila Real race will be open to both GT and TCE teams
with a schedule that includes four and a half hours of private testing
a 45-minute qualifying session and a two-part race
with three hours held on both Saturday and Sunday
Circuito Internacional de Vila Real is a venue that has featured most notably on the WTCC and World Touring Car Cup calendars over the years
with six editions of the ‘Race of Portugal’ being held around the 4.6km Portuguese street course before WTCR’s dissolution at the end of 2022
“Vila Real has established itself as one of the most exciting and competitive urban circuits in the world,” adds Rui Santos
“Despite having held car races since 1931
have put our circuit on everyone’s scope
“After the sprint races with TCR cars
we think this is the time to receive GTs and remember the endurance races that took place here in the 1970s
We found in Creventic a fantastic partner and we look forward to welcoming thousands and thousands of people in July
at the biggest race event ever in Vila Real.”
Prior to its recent stint as a world touring car circuit
Vila Real has a motorsport heritage that dates back to the late 1920s and early 1930s
The track’s prominence grew after World War II when the circuit began to host the ‘Race of Portugal’
In the decades that followed the circuit was modified multiple times
before Vila Real’s most recent revival began with the WTCC event in 2015

It also held international sports car races in the 1960s and 1970s using a different configuration to the current one
