Solar project developer and asset owner Photon Energy Group has completed two solar PV projects in Romania with a combined capacity of 9.5MWp
Located near Aiud and Teiuș in Romania’s Alba county
the power plants are equipped with about 8,700 solar modules each
With bifacial solar modules mounted on single-axis trackers
the plants will deliver a combined capacity of 13.9GWh annually to the grid managed by Distribuție Energie Electrică Romania
Photon Energy will sell the energy generated by the plants on a merchant basis
without any support or power purchase agreement with an energy off-taker
it expects the plants to generate a combined €2 million (US$2.19 million) in revenue based on the current forward prices for electricity base load in Romania in the next 12 months
“Following the energisation of our first four plants in Romania
the commissioning of the power plants in Aiud and Teiuș represents another important milestone for Photon Energy in the Romanian renewable energy market
where we plan to commission an additional capacity of around 10MWp
expanding our independent power producer (IPP) portfolio to over 120MWp in the coming weeks,” said Georg Hotar
the Photon Energy Group is developing utility-scale solar PV projects with a combined capacity of over 950MWp in Australia and its key central and eastern Europe markets
The remaining Romanian projects in the development pipeline are expected to be built and commissioned in 2023 and 2024.
In March, Photon Energy Group closed a €21.9 million non-recourse project refinancing agreement for eight power plants in Romania with a total installed capacity of 31.5MWp
closed with Raiffeisen Bank International in Austria
was the company’s first project financing of European PV assets that operated on a merchant basis

Drug smugglers have to be inventive in order to get their goods past customs
and have disguised shipments in all forms of containerized cargo - machinery
But Romania's customs police appear to have found something different: they have seized an unknown quantity of cocaine hidden in 71 barrels of frozen fruit products. This would be unexceptional
except that the cocaine is mixed with 16 tonnes of fruit pulp
It will take time to determine how much of the pulp is cocaine
but the authorities believe that it may be a new record.
"The experience of other agencies and other states that have faced such situations lead us to believe that there can be a drug concentration of between five and 20% contained and concealed in such products," said Eduard Miri?escu
first deputy of the General Inspector of the Romanian Police
The cargo arrived at the Port of Constanta and was shipped to Aiud
where the pulp was moved into a refrigerated truck
The final destination for most of the cargo was in the Netherlands - a hub for cocaine distribution in the EU - but it was intercepted by the Romanian authorities first
The nation's customs enforcement agency
also found four barrels and 88 boxes of similar frozen fruit product stored at a warehouse in Aiud.
were arrested in connection with the seizure
They face a court hearing in Constanta on possible pre-trial detention.
The EU has a thriving and profitable cocaine market
EU nations reported 84,000 seizures totaling 323 tonnes - a record amount for the sixth year in a row
Massive quantities of the drug flow through Rotterdam
and seizure volumes have risen in parallel: last year
authorities in the Antwerp-Brugges port region alone seized more than 120 tonnes
about one third of all cocaine seized in Europe
smugglers have begun looking for smaller ports to use in order to evade detection
according to EU authorities - regional ports like Constanta.

We have created and are creating infrastructure
now we are offering the little ones the chance to read and learn new things
to develop intellectually and become educated adults
I want to emphasize that all the books are new
the titles being selected in accordance with the pedagogical recommendations for the students’ age,” explained Antonis Kyriakos

which many children will enjoy from now on

DP World has announced the construction of a new multimodal terminal connecting Romania’s industrial heartland to European and Asian trade hubs
According to a statement released by DP World
the Aiud intermodal terminal will boast a static storage capacity of 3,000 TEU and is expected to become operational in the first half of next year
Through its on-site connection to the electrified rail infrastructure, it will also help reduce CO2 emissions and transportation costs through the shift from road to rail
The inland terminal and logistics hub will be built in Decea

By offering streamlined supply chain management and enhanced operational efficiency
DP World is focusing on meeting customers’ need to reduce costs and accelerate delivery times in a way which gives them transparency at every stage
It is also designed to support the greening of companies’ supply chains by enabling the broader use of DP World’s ‘groupage’ offer. Goods are dispatched by different companies into the same load so empty space in trucks, boats, trains and planes can be kept to a minimum, lowering the environmental footprint of each consignment.
