Borca’s parents, Troy and Carina Borca, released the statement on the two-year anniversary of Borca’s Oct. 30, 2022 disappearance. The pair wrote that they "can’t believe it’s been that long since we’ve seen Bryce’s infectious smile or heard his sweet voice."
The statement was posted to the Bryce’s Blessings Facebook page. The nonprofit was created to help other families dealing with child loss following the disappearance.
Borca’s parents also stated that search measures have continued in the last year, including ground and water searches in the marshy areas around Borca’s last known location.
Borca went missing after he and his two friends were dropped off by a Lyft driver on the 3200 block of Hill Ridge Drive just after 2 a.m.
He told his friends he was going to walk to his apartment, which was a 40-45 minute walk away. He last spoke with his friends over Facetime at around 2:30 a.m., saying he "didn't know where he was."
Borca was also "extremely intoxicated" at the time, according to a search warrant.
Borca also told his friends his phone was almost dead at the time. When the call abruptly ended, Borca’s friends began to search for him on foot in a heavily wooded area near ponds and marshes.
Borca was reported missing at around 10:50 a.m. Police say his last known whereabouts were in Fort Snelling State Park, near the railroad tracks at the end of Yankee Doodle Road in Eagan.

MINNESOTA - It has been a year since 23-year-old Bryce Borca was reported missing after a night out with friends ended with their close friend
whom some reportedly had known since the 6th grade
It's a case that shook not only the family and friends of Bryce Borca but also one that resonated across the Eagan and surrounding communities
The impact this case had across the community became well known on the morning of Halloween
when car after car came to the Blue Cross & Blue Shield campus to join in a search for the young man
Hundreds of people came together to search for Bryce Borca
It has been a case that has grabbed national and international headlines
surrounded by conspiracies and rumors of cover-ups amongst the online communities and even anger toward law enforcement for lack of transparency on this case
Eagan Police continue to say no foul play is expected in this case; however
the one question that continues to be at the center of this is: Where is Bryce Borca
23-year-old Bryce Borca was last seen around 2 AM on Sunday
following an Uber/Lyft ride with friends after they were partying/drinking all day in Stillwater
The group was dropped off at an apartment in the Coachman Road/Yankee Doodle area in Eagan
After being let out of the ride-sharing vehicle
Eagan Police report Bryce Borca reportedly demanded to walk home to his apartment
which was about a couple of miles east of their current location
Instead of walking east toward his apartment
Bryce Borca reportedly walked westward toward Highway 13
one of the friends received a Facetime call from Bryce Borca
It appeared Bryce was lost with the friend
saying he looked like he was walking in tall grass and kept falling
it looked like he was in the tall grassy marsh area just north of the train tracks
Bryce Borca's phone died during the Facetime
A few friends went down to the train tracks behind the Blue Cross & Blue Shield grounds by the Eagan Police Gun Range but could not find him
after the friends had not heard any updates from Bryce Borca
requesting a welfare check at Bryce's apartment
The friends reported that his car was there
but they have been unable to get ahold of him
several Eagan Officers searched locations near his estimated last known location
several local medical centers and hospitals
and surrounding county jails were all contacted to see if they had anyone named Bryce Borca or fit his description
He was not found in any of these locations
Cellphone tower pings for his last known location before his phone died
and emergency location requests were made to Snapchat to try and pinpoint his last known location
The cell tower ping put him roughly in the area of his last known location
which was believed to have been worn by Bryce
was also found in the area of his last known location per the cellphone power
when Bryce Borca was officially entered as a missing person
Emergency personnel from various departments all across the Twin Cities Metro came to assist the Eagan Police Department's search for Byrce Borca
a search that went until dark and then was called off
friends and family of Bryce Borca organized a search with the community that brought around 250 friends
and strangers from all across the community together in what the Eagan Police Chief
would later say was one of the biggest turnouts he has ever seen for a missing person
the Eagan Police Department released a statement saying they no longer needed additional volunteers to help in the search
Bryce Borca nor any additional clues were found
No other official organized searches were done with the general public after that day
but several groups of people reportedly did searches on their own over the coming months
Eagan Police asked residents and businesses in the area south of Lone Oak Road
and north of Silver Bell Road to check their security cameras for any signs of Bryce Borca between the hours of 2-4 AM on October 30th
Officials with the Eagan Police Department say they continue to conduct searches for Bryce Borca
they say 28 different organizations around 15 different public safety agencies
around 1,500 acres have been searched for Bryce Borca
which no includes challenging terrain and the navigation of 14-foot tall grass
The Eagan Police Department does not believe any foul play is suspected in this case
They estimate around 45 tips have been received related to the case so far
They confirmed Bryce Borca was seen on a local business's surveillance
but because it is still an open and active investigation
they could not provide us with what business that was
In a statement from the Borca Family a year following Bryce's disappearance
Earlier this Fall, the Borca Family announced they had started a non-profit organization called Bryce's Blessings so they could honor him and support other families coping with the loss of their child

Karen Borca / Paul Murphy: Entwined (Relative Pitch RPR1198) | Tania Grubbs Quintet: The Sound Of Love (Travlin Music) | Toms Rudzinskis Quartet: Interception (Jersika Records JRD009-001-1000)
As if there weren’t already enough bassoon and drums duos in the world (IRONY ALERT) this one consisting of Borca on the former and Murphy on the latter offers up a programme of music rich in detail and pointillistic nuance
Both musicians are loosely informed by what might be called the ideals of Cecil Taylor
by dint of the number of musicians involved
shows only tangential traces of that iconoclast’s musical density
The lengthy Snapping Turtle encapsulates the duo’s musical relationship
which is one grounded in “in the moment” spontaneity and the ability of each member to think quickly in response to the other
In the solo passage which opens Something Borca stakes out a claim for her instrument as one able to convey much depth and many colours
her line eventually joined by percussion from Murphy at his most deft
The music is notable for the degree to which it doesn’t raise its voice
and is all the more telling because of this as it draws in the active
While it’s a little disingenuous to say that New Piece offers more of the same
not least because the same in this instance implies something pretty rarefied
at least at the moments of greatest animation
echoes passages to be found throughout the set
But still the balance and poise which are qualities highly indicative of the duo’s understanding are to be heard in abundance
Given the cultural conservatism that’s a mark of the present day
it’s good to know that labels such as Relative Pitch are still capturing and putting out music such as this
which is demanding of the listener and which requires some work to be properly assimilated
Singer Grubbs offers up a set notable for the lack of risk
Fortunately for her we live in an era when safety and the avoidance of risks can provoke high praise from the critical fraternity
Grubbs’ voice is a sophisticated one in the sense that there’s evidence of considerable depth of interpretation
but to my cloth ear that evidence comes and goes
But Not For Me is taken at a tempo which seems to encourage a light and breezy run-through of the lyric
The voice and brushed drums/bass drum duo that opens the interpretation is a nice arrangerly touch before proceedings settle down into a well-known
Norman Gimbel and Henry Mancini’s Slow Hot Wind is treated with an abundance of elegance
As far as I can hear Grubbs doesn’t do much with the lyric beyond applying her imagination to titular implications
while guitarist Ron Affif ups the jazz content considerably with his solo
Strange Meadowlark documents Grubbs dealing in a nice line in emotional ambiguity
The lyric is one of those which arguably invites a range of interpretations
and to her credit Grubbs extracts more from it in terms of interpretation than some might
This time it’s Rudway’s turn to take a solo honour
Billy Strayhorn’s Something To Live For is for me the strongest song on the album
Grubbs shows evidence of really having digested the lyric
and her accompanying quartet show every sign of tailoring its work to fit her reading of it
resulting in a highly cohesive outing which serves notice of the fact that Grubbs might well have what it takes to stake out some territory of her own in a field that’s far from sparsely populated
Latvian alto sax player Rudzinskis and his quartet
which includes rising star Alex Koo on piano
are shining brightly in the contemporary jazz firmament on their album
which is notable for the degree of integration between the standard sax
bass and drums quartet and a small string ensemble
The refined tension-and-release of opening track Sky neatly summarises the overall feel of the album
with the sumptuousness of the strings being counter-balanced by the slightly acidic
The following Edges is a title offset by the less dense
with Koo in solo avoiding a lot of the cliches of contemporary jazz piano
and in turn following the example of the leader in wearing his influences as something entirely unlike a heavy overcoat in July
As the music proceeds the strings “sing” in a manner which ensures some depth
whose work is that of a musician who knows the value of understatement and the absence of bluster
Notional minimalism is the order of the day on Years
so almost by default the feeling of understatement is never too far away
The bass and drums duo of Igor Spallati and Ivars Arutynyan takes a refined approach
giving the very strong impression of a pairing alert to every nuance the music has to offer
The closing Memories is aptly both wistful and reflective
Rudzinskis gives free rein to his lyrical side
again serving notice of his individual approach to his art and thus reminding us that the album amounts to the documenting of a work very much in progress

"The investigation has included an extensive search of over 1,000 acres in coordination with state and federal officials," police said Thursday on Facebook.
In a statement, Borca's family said: "We would like to thank the countless people who have come forward to assist us in our effort to bring Bryce home. We ask for your continued support in providing any information that could assist in locating Bryce."

EAGAN, MINNESOTA - According to the Pioneer Press
the Dakota County investigators have applied for a search warrant this week in search of more clues in the disappearance of Bryce Borca
Bryce was last seen around 2:08 AM on Sunday
when Borca was dropped off around the Hill Ridge Drive apartments with two of his friends
Police were notified that Bryce Borca was missing Sunday morning
which resulted in several agencies responding to aid in his search from local
The search went on from around 2 PM until dark on Sunday evening
a second search was organized with the family of Bryce Borca requesting help from volunteers to help search for Bryce the night before
They requested volunteers to meet up at the Blue Cross Blue Shield University at 7:30 AM on Monday
how many people would end up showing up to help
around 250 volunteers ended up showing help search a large area Bryce Borca was last seen
Something the Eagan Police Chief said he had never seen before
The area officials and volunteers searched over a two-day period was a mix of industrial parks and businesses
and a large marsh/prairie area around Highway 13 and Yankee Doodle Road in Eagan
The marsh area that was searched and also happened to be the last known location Bryce was before his cell phone died was to the east of Hwy 13 between railroad tracks and the Minnesota River
the warrant stated that video surveillance from a business in the area also showed Borca walking alone early Sunday morning
the police obtained the search warrant for Bryce Borca’s Eagan
Minnesota apartment to collect his electronic devices
The police were hoping they might be able to shine additional light on his disappearance and reveal additional clues to what happened to him
Police continue to state they do not assume there was any foul play involved in his disappearance
but they hope this search warrant might officially rule that out
the Pioneer Press reports police were also able to gather the following information in regard to the final moments before Bryce disappeared from his friends
it was initially reported that Bryce left a party either via foot or a taxi service off Coachman Road
The police officially released later that he was dropped off in the area
which was mentioned to volunteers the morning of the search
the search warrant uncovered that Borca and his friends were drinking on a party bus into the early morning of Sunday
Bryce and his friends would eventually take a Lyft back to Eagan
where they were dropped off in the 3200 block of Hill Ridge Drive in Eagan at around 2:08 AM
The Pioneer Press also reports that the warrant states the driver of the Lyft also reported that Borca was very intoxicated and even attempted to exit the vehicle while it was still moving
After Borca and his friends were dropped off
Bryce’s friends had assumed he was walking back to his apartment that was a couple of miles away
according to the warrant attained by the Associated Press
Bryce Borca reportedly FaceTimed and talked to one of his friends
saying that he had only about 2 percent battery left on his phone and that he was lost
It was during this time that Bryce also sent his location via his phone to his friend
Bryce’s phone would die about 12 minutes later
which prompted his friends to begin the search for him early Sunday morning
That final location before Bryce’s phone died was another key piece of information that was disclosed to the volunteers on the day of the search on Monday
in addition to K9s and the Minnesota State helicopter
would focus 4-5 hours on searching that last known location for Bryce in what would end up being some very tough terrain
his friends gathered he was likely in an area with heavy woods
This was additional information that police and volunteers would later use during their searches on Monday
Bryce’s last known location was just west of Highway 13 in a wooded area next to the railroad tracks
The location was also in the opposite direction of his apartment
Broca’s friends then went out to search along Highway 13 and near his last known location but were not able to find him
his friends then called 911 and reported him missing
investigators found that Borca walked from the area of Letendre Street
and then traveled away from Hill Ridge Drive towards Highway 13
Bryce’s apartment was again in the opposite direction of where he walked
with some wondering if he might have gotten disoriented
volunteers were told that a tie that belonged to Bryce was found on the previous day
which officials said was in agreement with the direction of travel Bryce was last seen going
a single Nike shoe was found behind a business in the area where Borca was last seen
according to the warrant and reported by the Pioneer Press
The shoe found did not match the description of the shoe he was said to be wearing
but investigators have not ruled out that this could have been his
The Eagan Police Department is still asking anyone living south of Lone Oak Road
and north of Silver Bell Road to please check their security cameras from October 30th between the hours of 2 AM to 4 AM for any possible additional information in connection with the missing 23-year old

The family of an Eagan man who has been missing since the end of October is now offering a $30,000 reward with hopes that it will lead to new information that can help find him
Bryce Borca’s family announced the reward
which is for anyone who provides information that leads to his whereabouts
Borca disappeared in the early morning hours of Oct
Court documents revealed that the 23-year-old had shared a Lyft ride back to Eagan with a few friends and was dropped off at around 2 a.m
that morning near Coachman Road and Yankee Doodle Road
The Lyft driver later told police that Borca was “extremely intoxicated” but planned to walk from the drop-off spot to his apartment
Borca video-called his friends and said his phone only had 2% battery charge left and he was lost
His shared location showed he’d gone the wrong way and was in a wooded area off of Highway 13 and Yankee Doodle Road
The call then abruptly ended and subsequent calls from his friends went to voicemail
Police were called later in the morning and extensive searches were conducted
although a tie that’s believed to have belonged to Borca was found along his suspected route of travel
His family says it has worked closely with police over the past 12 weeks and followed up on many tips
Despite the lack of success in finding him so far
the family says it’s committed to continuing the search
Anyone with information that could help police find Borca is asked to call police at 651-675-5706

A MISSING man had told his friends that he "didn’t know where he was" in a heartbreaking final call before his cell phone reportedly died
Bryce Borca, 23, vanished without a trace after being last seen near the Minnesota River in Eagan in the early hours of October 30
He had been drinking on a party bus and got a ride-share with two pals at around 2am, according to a police report seen by Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
Borca got out of the car and reportedly started walking to his home which was located only two miles away
he FaceTimed his friends from the woods and said that he didn’t know where he was going
Borca’s phone battery was at two percent and the call ended after 12 minutes
A search operation was frantically launched and cops said that cell phone records reveal he was traveling toward Highway 13 in the state.
One person reportedly found a tie on the route that he was walking along.
Cops combed the woodland and found a Nike shoe, but cops said didn’t match the description of the footwear that he was wearing.
Around 250 people searched the local area in a bid to find the missing man
but the search operation near the river has been suspended
His friend Abbie Dittman told FOX9: “That’s never supposed to happen to somebody you know
It’s just surprising we haven’t found anything at this point.”
Borca’s family said: “This is an incredibly difficult time for us and our main focus is finding our son
“We are so very grateful for the outpouring of love and support from the community
and pray for Bryce's safe return."

Villaggio Eni, a holiday resort in the Venetian Dolomites, is where traces of Italy’s optimistic past live on
13 per cent of Italians went on holiday; by the 1960s
Fiats and resorts catered to a prosperous nation on the move
embarked on a corporate paternalism that saw the creation of holiday villages for their employees all over Italy.
one of the largest energy companies in Italy
Eni chairman Enrico Mattei and Italian architect Edoardo Gellner dreamed up a holiday retreat like no other
Gellner selected a site perched above the valley of Borca di Cadore and
It would offer a range of accommodation for Eni employees and sick staff that needed to convalesce in the crisp mountain air
More than 270 villas would cater for families; children aged 12-16 could camp in A-frame cabins; singles could stay at the two hotels on site
and a ‘colony’ with dormitories and a refectory would serve as a holiday camp for 600 young children
playing fields and a ski lift ensured year-round enjoyment.
Gellner was the obvious choice for the project. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at Venice University in 1945
and was designing a motel for Eni subsidiary Agip in the nearby Cortina d’Ampezzo resort when he got the call from Mattei
Gellner created many buildings in and around that jet-set ski destination and he is seen as the architect who put the region on the modernist map
in the foothills of the mighty Monte Antelao
had little vegetation and excellent sun exposure
so he planted thousands of trees and set about integrating the village into the landscape
Forms and styles tied to local folklore were vetoed in favour of raw concrete
which he used to ‘establish an eloquent counterpoint with the rocks of Antelao’
He designed everything from fireplaces to handles and desks
with an artisanal touch acquired from experimenting with materials in his father’s workshop
Mattei was killed in a plane crash in 1962 and the expansion of Villaggio Eni was halted
but by then Gellner had achieved his goal of creating authentic
the whole site was sold to Sardinian company Minoter.
two leather-bound books thick with international press cuttings record the village during its heyday
Young boy scouts gather firewood in the A-frame campsite under the shadow of sun-soaked Antelao; smiling children
line up on sports pitches; happy couples clink glasses on balconies overlooking the valley of Borca di Cadore below
Mattei also saw Villaggio Eni as an opportunity for super branding; everything from tea cups
plates and vases by porcelain specialist Richard Ginori to blankets featured Eni’s famous six-legged dog logo
A glance today around Hotel Boite’s sweeping
semi-deserted foyer is a reminder that times have changed
Most of the villas now belong to private owners
the colony and the campsite are in states of disrepair
and it only takes a small leap of the imagination to picture Jack Nicholson in The Shining at Hotel Boite’s bar ordering aperitivi from imaginary bartenders
Visitors are typically artists and architecture students
who come to admire Gellner’s work and the famed church
and those who want to enjoy the ski slopes of Cortina without the hefty price tag.

All rooms come with original sliding bedheads
fold-up desks and Gellner’s three-legged chairs
you can almost hear the clouds scudding across the valley
arts organisation Dolomiti Contemporanee stepped in to breathe new life into the village
It was founded with the aim of regenerating underused sites all over the Unesco-listed Dolomites
Progetto Borca launched its first international artist-in-residence programme in Villaggio Eni and the holiday camp has become their studio
Curator Gianluca D’incà Levis runs the project and lives in one of Gellner’s perfectly preserved villas
He says: ‘This site is problematic because it is too big in relation to the valley
We have to find a new use for it.’ As issues of sustainability become more pressing
he hopes the mountains will become more than a tourist playground and envisages the village as ‘a laboratory where the relationship between man and nature can be explored’.
The 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics might be a catalyst for change
It will be the first time the games have been shared between two sites and
a nod to 1956 when the resort hosted the first-ever televised games
These gave Gellner the opportunity to create some of Cortina’s landmarks
among them the Palazzo Telve office building
Some of the resort’s original sporting facilities will be repurposed in 2026
remain immortalised in the 1981 James Bond film For Your Eyes Only
and plenty of potential in commuter distance from Cortina
Villaggio Eni could be the perfect base camp-in-waiting.

One of the world’s largest animal health companies non-exclusively licensed the USDA and UConn’s jointly owned vaccine candidate for African swine fever
a virus that rapidly infects domestic and wild pigs
the disease walloped China with a loss equivalent to one percent of its GDP
In response to the virus’s spread from its origins in sub-Saharan Africa to other continents
scientists at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and UConn have developed vaccine candidates deemed “promising” by independent researchers
The vaccine candidate ASFV-G-ΔMGF was one of those candidates and was recently licensed for commercial development by Zoetis
an offshoot of the medical company Pfizer and the world’s largest animal pharmaceutical producer
UConn’s Technology Commercialization Services (TCS) worked with the USDA to facilitate an agreement that allowed the USDA to negotiate licenses with animal health companies like Zoetis who can eventually bring this vaccine to the market
TCS works with faculty and researchers to expedite and facilitate the transformation of UConn discoveries into products and services that benefit society
Dr. Guillermo Risatti, professor of pathobiology in UConn’s College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources and director of the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (CVMDL)
is enthusiastic about the vaccine candidate’s potential
CVMDL is one of UConn Extension’s active service centers working cooperatively with federal and state veterinary agencies to enhance disease surveillance and response in the region
people have tried live attenuated vaccines
they have tried different cocktails of proteins that are expressed by the virus as a mechanism of protection,” Risatti says
“But it never materialized into some sort of candidate.”
The successful development of safe and effective modified live vaccines represents a new frontier in protecting swine from ASF
Researchers from Zoetis and the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI) in Germany have conducted trials on wild boars using edible bait containing the vaccine
and on domestic pigs through a more traditional route—injection into the muscle
Both routes demonstrated the immunization’s efficacy against ASF
our findings confirm that ‘ASF-G-ΔMGF’ is a most promising vaccine candidate that could find its way into well-organized and controlled immunization campaigns,” the researchers from Zoetis and FLI write in a peer-reviewed article in the journal Pathogens
Currently, the nearest documented cases of ASF (respective to the United States) have occurred in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. But oceans don’t always pose barriers for foreign animal disease spread—this was evident earlier in 2022, when UConn CVDML researchers detected a foreign rabbit pathogen that had reached Connecticut for the first time
ASF emerged in sub-Saharan Africa after European colonists brought their own pigs to the continent
This puts the emergence of ASF about 200-300 years in the past
More than 35 countries are now impacted by the disease
“That is a major problem when you don’t have a vaccine or ways to control the spread of the disease
You will rely only on trying to slow down the movement of animals
Animals are constantly being moved to market or formally or informally from one neighbor to another
and that’s when you see these diseases spreading very fast,” Risatti says

PITTSFIELD — Halfway through the Hay Bale Stack event
Hannah Guarino and Kailey Uresk finally figured out how best to pile the 11 bundles of field grass into the bed of a Ford Ranger pick-up truck
the 15-year-old best friends weren't employing teamwork
"When I saw [Kailey] already on the back of the truck
I realized it would go quicker if I tossed them to her," said Guarino of Great Barrington

More than 1,000 people in the Milwaukee area work at companies started by Craig Kasten and Greg Borca — and the number of people could increase in coming years
Skygen USA — the new brand name for a family of companies started by Kasten and Borca — has roughly doubled in size in the past two years
Skygen companies now employ about 500 people
And revenue increased to $77 million last year
Borca and Kasten did all this once before: The two sold Doral Dental
which administered dental benefits for state Medicaid programs
to DentaQuest Ventures in 2004 for $108 million
They include Doral Dental's payments to a corrupt politician in Tennessee after the company won a state contract
The payments entangled Borca and Kasten in a mess that raised more than a few questions
But they were never charged with any wrongdoing
and the controversy didn't deter them from setting out to build another company
The core of that company was Wonderbox Technologies
they kept the underlying software for administering insurance claims
which Wonderbox Technologies licenses to insurance companies
is designed to be flexible and easily customized — features that became more important with the Affordable Care Act
the law requires health plans to cover pediatric dental care
a benefit typically not included in commercial plans
Insurers' computer systems were not designed for the benefit
but insurers could stitch Wonderbox Technologies' software into their systems
The Affordable Care Act also has spurred experiments — still in the earliest stages — with new ways of paying doctors and hospitals
"The technology has explosive potential," Borca said
Wonderbox is just one of several companies that are part of the Skygen brand
When their five-year noncompete agreements with DentaQuest expired in 2009
Kasten and Borca decided to get back into the business of administering dental claims
"One of our rules is wherever there is a Coke
contracts with insurance companies to manage dental plans
Borca describes it as "the largest dental benefits company that you've never heard of."
They later started Ocular Benefits to do the same for vision benefits
plans to help large employers and unions monitor the cost of prescription drugs
Two other companies founded in the 1990s also operate under the Skygen brand name: American Therapy Administrators
which manages physical therapy and chiropractic claims
which manages claims for health insurers and so-called third-party administrators
are separate corporate entities but are owned by Kasten and his family
The Skygen brand name was introduced this spring to draw attention to the connection among the companies
the nexus for the companies is the software as much as their ownership
Kasten designed the basic system in the early 1990s when he struck out on his own
leaving his job as chief operating officer and chief financial officer of CareNetwork Inc.
the parent company of Wisconsin Health Organization Insurance Corp.
one of the health maintenance organizations that emerged in the 1980s
Kasten had gone to work for Wisconsin Health Organization after losing his job at Miller Brewing Co
"A lot of things you think are bad turn out to be good," he said
"One of the biggest breaks of my career was leaving Miller."
had gone to work for Miller Brewing after earning a business degree in accounting from Marquette University
taking the bus from West Allis for his first three years
He has since given more than $2.5 million to the university
Kasten and his family also gave $250,000 for improvements to what is now Allison Kasten Field at a park in Cedarburg
The gift was made in memory of his daughter who died in 2011.)
Kasten set up a company that contracted with Wisconsin Health Organization to manage chiropractic costs
Borca and several partners had a competing company
They had similar ambitions but different strengths
who also has a master's in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee
understood information systems and had worked for large companies; Borca was an inveterate entrepreneur
someone who was thinking about how to make money in his teens
The two saw a niche in managing dental benefits for Medicaid programs
It also brought them into a world in which political connections can help
Consultants hired by Doral Dental or its subsidiaries would later bring Kasten and Borca several years of headlines and grief
A Pennsylvania consulting firm hired by a Doral Dental subsidiary reportedly paid $1.2 million to Managed Care Services
a Tennessee consulting firm in which a state senator had a stake
who was later convicted of bribery in an unrelated case
received $400,000 from Managed Care Services
Borca and Kasten were never charged with any wrongdoing
and their ties to the political scandal by all appearances haven't hurt their new ventures
Nor did they give any thought to simply living on the money from the sale of Doral Dental
"It's important that my kids see me go to work in the morning," he said
The five-year noncompete agreement as part of the sale of Doral Dental gave Wonderbox Technologies time to work on its software
president of UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits
"It gives us a much broader range of configurability," he said
UnitedHealthcare uses the software for commercial
Medicare Advantage and Medicaid health plans
Kaufman has equally strong praise for Wonderbox employees
"The people they have — their team — really is a differentiator for them."
The software enables health insurers to add new functions without the chore of retrofitting older computer systems
chief information officer for Wonderbox Technologies
who has worked for the company and predecessors for more than 18 years
Those functions include customized analytical tools and so-called edits to flag claims that look suspicious
The software also can handle new ways of paying for medical care
doctors and other health care providers are paid a fixed amount for a complete episode of care
The new forms of payment are expected to become more common in the next few years
Skygen also could provide turnkey systems for new health insurance and accountable care organizations
in which hospitals and doctors are paid to oversee the care for a specific group of patients
"There are so many market opportunities that we are perfect for," Borca said
Kasten and Borca have no interest in selling Wonderbox Technologies or their other companies
"A lot of people here have given up their careers to work for us," Kasten said
Nor do they have any interest in going public
"I'd rather drink battery acid," Kasten said
But Borca and Kasten also believe their companies have some opportunities ahead
and they acknowledge that the next few years could be busy
"We've spent 20 years to get into the position we are in," Borca said

In this Blame Guide Upgrade Guide I’m going to share some of my ideas on how you can improve the red-white commander precon
You’ll also find suggestions on which cards to cut
Through the whole article, I’ll assume that you’re using Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser as your main commander
The combination of menace and inability to block is perfect for a goad deck
Your opponents will have a harder time blocking
I don’t recommend to include a ton of other suspect cards
there are enough cards to goad your opponents’ creatures
The point of the deck is to make sure your opponents are always attacking each other instead of you
Nelly Borca doesn’t just goad creatures
but allows your opponents to draw cards when they attack another opponent
they’ll be tempted to attack even with non-goaded creatures
you want to include more rewards for players attacking other opponents
you can then swoop in and take everyone out at the end
I’d also suggest including cards that reward you whenever an opponent does a specific action. A new card that comes in the deck, Trouble in Pairs
It has multiple triggers that will draw you a card
you can potentially draw 3 extra cards per turn if my opponent performs specific actions
you won’t even need to attack at first
You’ll be able to sit back and prepare while goading everyone else into attacking
you build up resources so you can finish the game in one fell swoop
I’m going to start with three main cards you should focus on getting first
Each of these will have a large positive impact on your win rate
While I’ll cover both budget and higher cost additions these three cards are the first ones you should save up for
but it’s further enhanced since your commander is going to help your opponents draw cards
If your opponents are drawing 2+ cards per turn
odds are they won’t have 4 mana to waste on preventing you from drawing
They’re going to want to use that mana to play the cards they draw
Nelly Borca needs to attack each turn for her abilities to work
but you don’t want her to be blocked and die
There are ten similar swords that give your creature protection from two colors and trigger two abilities when they deal combat damage an opponent
Sword of Feast and Famine is my personally favorite since your commander will draw you cards when you attack
and you then untap your lands to cast your new cards
The discard trigger is also good since your opponents are going to draw cards from Nelly’s ability
so this can keep them from getting too many cards in hand
Iroas, God of Victory is a great card to make sure your commander doesn’t die when she attacks
It also protects all of your other creatures and eventually become a creature to attack
This deck is amazing at goading your opponents but you’ll eventually have one opponent left
Iroas allows you to aggressively attack them while saving blockers to make sure they don’t take you out
While Death Kiss does cost six mana
it’s still a perfect for a goad deck
The fact it only doubles the power if they’re attacking an opponent instead of you is such a great addition
A creature with lower mana cost would be Bothersome Quasit
which also allows you to goad your opponents’ creatures
Its ability to prevent goading creatures from blocking isn’t as useful given your commander prevents blocking with the suspect ability
although he is still a wonderful card to add
Dictate of the Twin Gods is riskier than Death Kiss
so if you want to be more powerful and reckless it’s a better choice
Life of the Party is also a powerful addition since it’s a strong creature and also gives goaded copies to your opponents
Making your commander big with Blackblade Reforged allows it to survive combat more frequently
the card is cheaper than a lot of equally powerful cards
A card from the main set, Agrus Kos, Spirit of Justice would work well with your commander
you can suspect two creatures per turn to goad more creatures
Or instead you can have Nelly Borca suspect a creature and then Agrus will immediately exile it if you stack the triggers correctly
Double strike will also make him extremely powerful if you use the right auras or equipment
I mentioned Sword of Feast and Famine, and my other two picks would be Sword of Hearth and Home and Sword of Fire and Ice
For decks like this I try to have at least 3 of the swords so I can cover all 5 colors
For Hearth and Home this deck has a good number of creatures with enter the battlefield abilities
And for Fire and Ice dealing damage and drawing cards is always nice
Ancient Copper Dragon is a powerful addition to keep attacking and ramp the mana you need to goad everyone to protect yourself
Archangel Elspeth is a strong planeswalker for this deck because her -2 ability can give your commander flying permanently and make her stronger
Then after that she can start making creature tokens so you have blockers
Her emblem doesn’t work that well for this deck given the average mana cost of your creatures
but you can focus on the other two abilities
Her 4 CMC also means you can hopefully get her out early to start making creatures
Monologue Tax is a great enchantment that lets you draw cards. A more budget version of Smothering Tithe
it actually has some positives in that your opponent can’t pay mana to make you not draw
Smothering Tithe will trigger more frequently
but late game when your opponents have extra mana to burn you’ll stop drawing cards
It’s also great that it was reprinted on The List for Karlov Manor
so the supply should be greater than usual
It’s no wonder Esper Sentinel is a staple in many decks. It costs only a single mana and it can draw you tons of cards. While Smothering Tithe is going to be harder to destroy
Sentinel can be buffed with an equipment or auras to force your opponent’s to pay more mana if they don’t want you to draw cards
Aurelia, the Law Above draws you cards when your opponents attack with 3 or more creatures
The fact that she just triggers by attacking and not dealing damage to an opponent is a big bonus
we’re going to look at the lands in your deck
I also included some non-land cards that can make mana
For lands, this deck has a pretty solid mana base out of the box. There are six lands that can tap for more than one color mana, which is a great start for a two color deck. There are also built in fixes to help you get more of a color you need, like Ash Barrens and Myriad Landscape
I would focus less on the colored mana, and more on fixing lands with abilities. Castle Ardenvale and Kher Keep don’t make sense for a deck with no focus on creature tokens
I would use Forbidden Orchard instead to replace one of those two
preferably Castle Ardenvale because Kher Keep can make tokens for cheaper
Giving your opponents creatures works for a deck designed to goad them into attacking
Minas Tirith is a strong land
that draws you cards when you attack with two or more creatures
that should happen most turns when it’s later in the game and you need to refill your hand
Burnished Hart is also a useful creature to help you fix your mana base. Though I prefer Wayfarer’s Bauble for the mana cost
but you could run both if you want more ramp
If you don’t mind using a Doctor Who card, Laser Screwdriver would be a pwerful mana generating artifact
The fact that it can also goad creatures is a great fit for this deck too
possibly replacing basic lands or lands that you don’t like the abilities of
Dockside Extortionist is also a great fit to ramp mana since so many of your cards let your opponents draw and play more cards
So you’ll hopefully have a full board of artifacts and enchantments to profit from
I’ve already mentioned some cards to remove
but I feel I should also list more here before showing my personal decklist
Feather, Radiant Arbiter is the alternative commander and while powerful she is not a good fit for this deck
You don’t have that many spells that target creatures
You have auras but many goad the creature or prevent them from attacking you
so you’ll want them on your opponents’ creatures
Stalking Leonin is a great card for exiling
but I find it annoying having to keep track of the player you secretly picked
it stops being helpful outside of a 2/2 body
The problem with Sun Titan is there is not enough 3 or less CMC creatures for him
There are tons of enchantments for you to bring back so it’s not too bad
Otherworldly Escort is awesome since it comes back from the dead once, but I feel there are other cards that work better for this deck. Selfless Squire is similar in that it can be extremely powerful but you have to wait for someone to attack you with enough damage to be worth it
I’m replacing Windborn Muse with Crawlspace
since an artifact will be harder to destroy than a creature
so I can replace a non-creature for a creature
Mob Verdict is such a fun card
it can wipe out weaker creatures so you can focus on goading the stronger survivors
if my opponent cast Mob Verdict I would rather damage another opponent than let them draw
and I might be tempted to aim at opponents with stronger creatures so there are more creatures to attack the goad deck
It’s a better fit for a deck focusing on noncombat damage
In an enchantment deck, Winds of Rath can be quite good. However, given how you want to put most of your auras on opponents creatures to goad them, it doesn’t make a lot of sense here. Farewell is a much better card that can also exile other permanents if you want to keep the current creatures on the board
Spectacular Showdown is a potent card to help you finish a game
But if someone prevents combat damage or stops the attacking
you’ll end up with a bunch of creatures with double strike that can attack you the next turn
Prisoner’s Dilemma seems like an amusing card
It works better for a deck focused on noncombat damage
Here is my full deck list if I reasonable budget or collection – without going too crazy. At the time of writing this Dockside Extortionist is the most expensive card so if you want to avoid spending too much money that’d be the first card to remove
Do you have any cards you’d like to recommend for this Blame Game Upgrade Guide
