Eurowind Energy Romania, a leading renewable energy developer active in Romania since 2011, confirms it is actively developing a significant wind energy project in Botosani County. The initiative, currently in an early planning phase, aims to reach approximately 1,200 MW of installed capacity, positioning Romania as a potential major regional exporter of renewable energy.
Eurowind Energy Romania has already completed important preliminary steps, including securing land rights, submitting the grid connection application, and obtaining initial urban planning certification. The project involves the phased construction of nine wind farms distributed across nine communes in northern Botosani County, with a timeline for completion extending to approximately 2031.
The next essential step is dialogue with local communities, authorities, and other relevant stakeholders. These discussions will shape the project’s timeline, final design, and specific technology selection.
“We’re committed to a transparent and collaborative process with all relevant parties. While the project is still in its early stages, the potential impact is significant. With an estimated total investment exceeding one billion euros, this wind farm complex could not only strengthen Romania’s renewable energy capacity but also enable the country to become a major energy exporter in the region,” Adrian Dobre, Country Manager Eurowind Energy Romania, stated.
The Eurowind Energy Romania team’s immediate priority remains the completion of two renewable energy projects scheduled to become operational this year: the Teius photovoltaic park (60.2 MW) in Alba County and the Pecineaga wind farm (48 MW) in Constanta County.
Previously, Eurowind Energy successfully developed three additional renewable energy projects in Romania: the photovoltaic parks in Pufesti (Vrancea County, operational since 2012), Halchiu (Brasov County, operational since 2013), and Mihailesti (Ilfov County, operational since 2013).
Eurowind Energy is a leading Danish developer and operator of wind, solar and hybrid projects with HQ in Hobro, Denmark. With more than 601 employees across 15 European countries and the US, the goal is to create a future powered only by renewable energy by making investments in renewable energy projects.
Eurowind Energy has been present on the Romanian market since 2011.

In the Romanian first league, Rapid Bucharest and Botosani faced off last weekend under extreme winter conditions. The pitch was completely covered in snow, creating an unusual challenge for players and spectators alike.
It is unclear how much the snowfall caught both teams by surprise, but the match turned into a bizarre spectacle. Botosani took to the field wearing completely white jerseys, blending into the snow-covered surface and making it almost impossible to spot them.
In the attached photos, you can see just how difficult it was to distinguish the Botosani players against the white background. The lack of contrast made visibility an issue for both players and fans.
Despite the unusual conditions, Rapid Bucharest managed to adapt and secured a 1-0 home victory.

After investing EUR 15 million in opening the Botosani Shopping Center mall in November 2011
real estate developer Belrom Real Estate says it will invest another EUR 3 million in expanding the project
The investment will go into expanding the shopping mall’s gross leasable area by 5,000 sqm and adding 500 parking spaces
The decision to expand the shopping mall was taken because of “the area’s development potential and the success of the first phase of the project”
Botosani Shopping Center has a gross leasable area of some 14,800 sqm which in the first year after the opening generated revenues worth EUR 1.4 million
The shopping mall is located in Botosani, north-eastern Romania, has a catchment area of more than 100,000 people, according to company data. It features some 26 shops and has an occupancy rate of 98 percent. The main anchor is a 9,000 sqm Carrefour hypermarket. Saudi Arabia international forward Naif Hazazi officially joined Romania’s FC Botosani on loan till the summer with an option to buy
Naif Hazazi played for Saudi Arabian outfit Al Taawoun alongside Egyptian veteran goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary and former Zamalek player Mostafa Fathi
“He’s a player I’ve been watching for some time,” said Cornel Sfaiter
“I liked how he moved during the friendly match with Bucovina Radauti
He has a clear vision when playing.”
The player featured in his team’s friendly 4-0 win over Bucovina Radauti
He even scored the club’s fourth goal in the 90th minute
Hazazi is a product of Ittihad Jeddah’s youth team and started playing for the first team in 2006
The forward stayed there till 2013 when he moved to Al Shabab
He then stayed in Riyadh but joined Al Nasr followed by a short stint with Al Taawoun
he scored a total of two goals after only playing 10 matches in the league and Saudi Crown Prince Cup
“I hope that we can help each other in achieving our goals
He signed a contract till the summer with a possibility to extend his stay,” the club’s president added
and I hope he can get used to it as soon as possible.”
The 29-year-old striker made his debut with the Saudi national team back in 2008
He made 56 appearances with his national team in which he scored 14 goals
he is aiming to grab the national team’s attention and secure a spot in the squad that will head to Russia in the summer
“If he performs well with the team he will surely be included in the Saudi Arabian squad
We hope to complete all the documents in the shortest possible time so that he will be eligible to play as soon as possible,” Sfaiter concluded
Saudi Arabia were drawn in Group A alongside Egypt, hosts Russia and Uruguay. In March, they suffered a 4-0 defeat from Belgium in a friendly that was held at the Heysel stadium in Brussels

Money that comes from Bucharest and the European Union to support the regions is relative to population
so it’s in the interests of the authorities to keep this figure as high as possible
One reason for the flight is that the region is in poor financial shape
the gross domestic product per capita in the county was 5.68 Euro—half that registered in the capital
