he was the son of the late Zamfira and Gheorghe Lauric He was born in a family of Romanian farmers during the second World War His family lost their land during the communist regime so his father started working for the Railways and had the family moving to the capital – Bucharest in search of a better life Vasile studied Mechanical Engineering at the Politechnical Institute in Bucharest He added to that a degree in Economics and one in Political Sciences later on Despite being successful in his career and working for many years he never felt defined by his success but rather by the quality of his work and by the love for his family very proud of the quality of Romanian chemical equipment built for oil refineries in the world equipment that still stands functional after 30 years in a war-torn Syria He crossed strange historical times and large geographical spaces He understood the World and maintained his humble and altruistic ideals even when it wasn’t in his favor A very devoted son who obeyed his parents and cared for them with all his heart the oldest of five siblings for whom he was present and ready to assume the father role when they were in need of that or when his father passed after a car accident and long suffering He had lots of friends through all phases of life he would be the life of any gathering and party with his contagious “joie de vivre” During his university years the parties meant getting together with friends and dancing a lot – the times of rock and roll and twist At one of the student dancing halls he met the love of his life and decided to build his family with her They’ve been together for 61 years and married for 59 A tumultuous relationship that stood the test of time and was the start of a family that grew and filled their life with many stories of joy and purpose The only daughter received unconditional love throughout her life His love and dedication only kept growing when he became also a father in law and a grandfather to one When the four of them emigrated from Romania to Minnesota he and his wife became traveling grandparents taking turns in being present full time in their foreign life The family grew with twins and Vasile became “Buni” for everyone that met them The children grew with the grandparents in the house surrounded by the most precious kind of love Grandpa would shuttle them places from preschool to piano lessons and hockey games or ski competitions taking turns with Dad would take them in magical trips through Romanian mountains always preoccupied to create for them unforgettable experiences always trying to keep the memories alive through pictures and family videos He was the prototype of a Gentle Patriarch remembered by friends of his daughter and friends of his grandchildren .He was very happy to see his first granddaughter getting married and to meet the twins’ partners He was sick for the past eight years but carried it with strength and didn’t kneel until one year ago when he was abruptly transformed into a patient managed to get back on his feet for his granddaughter’s wedding kept on pushing through constantly trying to get back to his yard work that became harder and harder The last month he couldn’t gain ground anymore he was taken away from his family that he kept in his heart for eternity He believed in God and always gave himself to His care He is survived by a large family full of cherished love : his wife- Julieta his Son in law- Catalin;,his granddaughter- Sinziana and her husband- Jake his grandson Toma and his girlfriend Amanda his granddaughter Sofia and her boyfriend Forrest his sister- Rodica and her husband Gheorghe and the new dog that just started to know Grandpa– Kora Family and friends are invited to gather for a Memorial Service on Saturday, the 3rd of August, at 09:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A Christian Orthodox Burial Service will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the same place.
