alleging a violation of the competition’s rules
According to Agora Media, the results from the fourth semi-final of the Romanian National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 have come into question after Liviu Sorescu of the band Lion’s Roar accused TIRI’s song
“Deşert De Sentimente,” of containing samples from Ciprian Porumbescu’s “Ballad for Violin and Orchestra”
members of the jury did take note of the borrowed segments from Porumbescu’s work
Section 2.7 of the rules of the Romanian national selection state that compositions submitted for the contest must be original
Evidence of any violation may be submitted at any stage of the contest
which will then be judged by a committee formed by the Romanian national broadcaster TVR
TIRI was one of the three qualifiers from the semi-final
gaining the second highest number of points from the five members of the jury
but Nicoleta Ţicală will qualify,” Sorescu told Agora Media
Ţicală came in fourth in the semi-final with the song “Una oportunidad.”
