Expanding the share of Americans with education and training after high school
Tools and takeaways from our efforts to create a better-educated nation
We envision a system that is easy to navigate
and meets the nation’s need for talent through a broad range of credentials
This is a big year for Lumina Foundation: In 2025, we are marking Lumina’s 25th anniversary, looking back on our ambitious 15-year college attainment goal, and celebrating the launch of a new goal
It’s the perfect time to reflect on progress made and how Goal 2040 can help even more Americans learn and earn credentials of value
an increase of 16 percentage points and climbing
Partnerships with state leaders, educators, and employers played key roles in this work, with 49 states setting their own college attainment goals
and Connecticut have surpassed that 60 percent goal
These and other states enhanced support for basic needs such as food
transportation; streamlined enrollment and transfer processes; improved programs for adult learners; and charted new ways to make schools more inclusive for all students
I’m proud that we collaborated to elevate the national narrative around college access and affordability
Lumina empowered states to take the lead in finding the best solutions for their students
and support redesigning systems of higher learning to better serve all students
What really stands out to me is the way we achieved policy
and program results through unique state collaborations
We have momentum, but there’s plenty of hard work ahead. A recent Lumina-Gallup poll shows that only 36 percent of Americans have confidence in higher education and its promise of a better life
Add in the shifting economy and political polarization
and ensure all students receive the support they need to reach their degrees or credentials
we will continue to partner and push for affordable
quality learning and training for all Americans
Lumina will be a lighthouse of expertise and support for the nation’s goals
helped to lead the efforts highlighted in this story.]
The national higher education policy landscape and state-level attainment have changed significantly since 2008
private foundation in Indianapolis committed to making opportunities for learning beyond high school available to all
We envision higher learning that is easy to navigate
and meets the nation’s talent needs through a broad range of credentials
We work toward a system that prepares people for informed citizenship and success in a global economy

the Lumina Youth Choirs is celebrating their 10th anniversary
They’re not only letting their voices shine right here in Tampa Bay
the Lumina Youth Choirs is made up of 120 Tampa Bay students varying in age and talent
One thing they all have in common is their love for singing
“The way you get to experience different things with your voices,” said elementary school singer Lily Brown
WATCH Lumina Youth Choirs celebrates 10 years
“I like having a group of people who understand the more musical side of my life,” said a middle school singer named Soraya
“It’s about being surrounded by a bunch of people who share the love of music as much as I do and the love of singing,” said high school singer Matthew Monteiro
Director Deah McRynolds said the Lumina Youth Choirs is always looking to branch out into the community
whether it’s performing at a senior center or a Bucs game
“We take them out into the world so they can experience different kinds of music
and really use their voices in a way that makes a difference,” said McReynolds
32 students will travel to Denmark to compete against more than 140 choirs during the World European Choir Games
“I’m hoping we get to learn a lot from them
definitely,” said high school singer Nitya
“It’s going to be people from new countries
so there is going to be that cultural exchange.”
“We’ve been doing well and making these pieces the best that we can possibly be to represent our country to others
and I’m really excited for us to perform,” said high school singer Brianna Carr
“I’m hoping that we can pick up the techniques and the tips that they use to become better singers and better performers as well,” said high school singer Anita
choirs will join for one final performance
“I’m not nervous for the kids because they always rise to the occasion
I’ve yet to take them anywhere where they have just not outshined what I thought was possible for them,” said McReynolds
you don’t have to leave the country or even Tampa to hear these students sing
The Lumina Youth Choirs will hold a Spring Sing community concert on May 3 at Hyde Park United Methodist Church at 6:30 pm
and we are looking forward to the next 10 years,” said McReynolds
The Lumina Youth Choirs is always looking to add new members
“My favorite part has definitely been all the friends I’ve been able to make,” said Nitya
“Some of my closest friends have been singing with me in this choir for five or six years now.”

The nation’s prosperity depends on the skills of the American workforce
Expanding the share of adults in the United States with quality education and training after high school is essential for ensuring economic competitiveness and expanding individual opportunity
Lumina Foundation set a national goal in 2008 for 60 percent of working-age adults to earn college degrees
or industry-recognized certifications by 2025
education attainment after high school among adults 25 to 64 years old has increased from 38 percent to 55 percent
Millions of adults furthered their education and training with credentials of value and secured promotions
the nation faces a fresh set of challenges
and perceived politicization of colleges and universities
we believe the nation needs a new goal focused on the value of credentials and their tangible benefits for individuals and society: By 2040
labor force will have college degrees or other credentials of value leading to economic prosperity
Printer-friendly PDF
Learn more about the 2040 goal
Lumina Foundation set an ambitious goal: By 2025
60 percent of working-age adults in the United States would have a degree
and policymakers who believe in the power of education and training beyond high school
and the influence of artificial intelligence have caused people to question whether a college degree is worth it
We must rethink how education creates opportunities and drives success for individuals and communities
That’s why Lumina has set a new goal: By 2040, 75 percent of adults in the U.S. labor force will have college degrees or other credentials of value leading to economic prosperity. This vision ensures education remains affordable
Higher education has always helped people find good jobs
When more people have degrees and certifications
Yet confidence in higher education is declining
57 percent of Americans had high confidence in colleges and universities
Many feel that college is too expensive or does not deliver on its promise
we must ensure that every degree and credential benefits students and society
To reach the 2040 goal, Lumina will focus on four main areas:
By 2031, 72 percent of U.S. jobs will require some form of higher education or training
If we don’t help more people gain the right skills and credentials
Higher education is also essential to reducing inequality. Since 2010, increased education levels have contributed more than $14.2 trillion in lifetime earnings across the United States
we must ensure that all people—regardless of background—have access to higher education and its benefits
We call on colleges and universities to focus on affordability and student success
We urge employers to invest in training and education programs for their employees
And we encourage students and families to advocate for an education system that truly serves them
The increase in the number of Americans with college degrees and other credentials beyond a high school diploma since 2008 has been one of the most significant yet least recognized success stories of the past two decades
Lumina remains committed to leading the way
We will continue investing in innovative programs
and driving policy improvements to ensure more Americans achieve their education and career goals
we can create a future where higher education is accessible
The future of our workforce—and our nation—depends on it
Jamie Merisotis is president and CEO of Lumina Foundation
Strategies to accelerate and scale the redesign of systems to better serve today's students
INDIANAPOLIS—Lumina Foundation has announced a bold new goal to increase the number of Americans with education and training beyond high school: By 2040
75 percent of working-age adults in the U.S
Today’s announcement is a response to the nation’s increasing workforce demands
adults need credentials of value that equip them for a rapidly changing economy
set them on a path to personal growth and financial security
This will require new ideas around making college and training programs affordable
“Higher education should be a gateway to real opportunity for every aspiring student,” said Jamie Merisotis
“We must take action to remove barriers so that more people—regardless of who they are or where they’re from—can earn degrees and credentials that empower them to continue to learn
The foundation will lead with investments in these four focus areas over the next five years
including improving data collection to measure progress toward economic prosperity
Lumina’s new strategic direction builds on lessons from the past 17 years and acknowledges the critical role of education in strengthening communities
Since Lumina set a national attainment goal in 2008
adults ages 25 to 64 with college degrees or other quality credentials beyond high school has grown from 38 percent to 55 percent
Millions of Americans have pursued higher education and workforce training for individual success and societal well-being
Lumina will keep tracking progress toward the 60 percent goal and will expand A Stronger Nation
to focus on the new 2040 goal of 75 percent
More work must be done to ensure that post-high school learning delivers the value that students deserve and expect
Lumina will collaborate with partners in higher education
and the nonprofit sector to advance policies and programs that align with evolving workforce needs
Special emphases will be placed on community colleges
who are more likely to from low-income families
the first in their families to go to college
“The increase in the number of Americans with post-high school credentials has been one of the most significant yet least recognized success stories of the past two decades,” Merisotis said
“Higher education remains the most effective path to economic prosperity for individuals and the nation.”

As your party in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 levels up and gets stronger
there will come a point where your characters hit a 9,999 damage cap per single attack
there is always room for more offensive power
Here’s how to exceed 9,999 damage and unleash your party’s full potential.
you will need the Painted Power Pictos that serves as the reward for beating the final boss of Act 2
Seeing as this is a requirement to progress the main story
the large amount of story exposition after the boss fight may cause you to forget that you have the Pictos in your inventory.
Painted Power gives a massive Health boost on top of the damage cap removal but as with all Pictos
you need to complete at least four battles with it equipped on an active party member to turn it into a Lumina
Only when those four battles are completed will you be able to equip the Painted Power Lumina to all of your party members.

(WECT) - The town of Wrightsville Beach has announced the completion of two of its improvement projects
the construction projects on Causeway Drive and Lumina Avenue have been finished
The project updates include new bike lanes on Causeway Drive and an expanded pedestrian loop on N Lumina Avenue
“These updates are part of our continued commitment to enhancing safety and accessibility for residents and visitors alike,” said the town in a Facebook post

The influential nonprofit wants 75% of U.S
adults to have a postsecondary degree or credential that leads to “economic prosperity” by 2040
which historically focused on general postsecondary attainment
didn't hit its initial goal of 60% of working-age adults having a credential by 2025 — but it came close
55% of adults have completed some form of education beyond high school
up from 38% when the foundation set the goal 17 years ago
"The substantial increase in attainment since 2008 has been one of the most significant but least recognized success stories of the past decade and a half," Jamie Merisotis
higher education has run into a bevy of headwinds
"We're facing a fresh set of challenges — rising costs
doubts about job opportunities and things like the influence of artificial intelligence have caused people to question whether a college degree is really worth it," Merisotis said
Lumina's increased focus on college's ROI will help ensure that graduates get a quality education that benefits them holistically
Lumina’s vice president of impact and planning
we also have to ensure that the credentials are valuable to individuals and that they're leading to really meaningful financial benefits and long-term economic prosperity," she said on the call
The foundation previously included all adults age 25 to 64 in its metrics
it will focus on adults in that demographic who are also in the workforce
Lumina is interested in tracking a more "holistic view of economic prosperity" versus one focused solely on earnings
"We understand that economic prosperity is more than wages," she said
But the foundation primarily relies on U.S
and available data sources make it difficult to track employment metrics like job satisfaction and community impact
"To ensure that credentials and degrees really deliver on economic prosperity
we needed to set a clear standard for this goal
We wanted to make sure that we had something that wasn't squishy," Brown said
The foundation said it will pursue ways of quantifying broader measures such as well-being in its future research reports
Lumina also released a strategic plan for achieving its new attainment goal
focusing on four objectives: ensuring people earn valuable credentials
expanding access to postsecondary education
public financing and instigating "a dramatic overhaul that recasts how we pay for and structure" colleges and their support systems
"We can't make the 2040 goal happen on our own
just as we couldn't make the 2025 goal happen without the major role played by states
by different education and training providers
and by the hard work of a lot of people," Merisotis said

Jamie MerisotisThe Lumina Foundation announced a new goal to increase the number of Americans with education and training to 75%
a national private foundation focused on higher education and workforce development
set a national attainment goal that by 2025 60% of working-age adults would earn college degrees
certificates or industry-recognized certifications
the percentage of adults 25 to 64 who have achieved education attainment after high school has increased from 38% to 55%
“We tried to focus on system change,” said Jamie Merisotis
we’re facing a fresh set of challenges—rising costs
doubts about job opportunities and things like the influx of artificial intelligence—have caused people to question whether a college degree is really worth it
… We had to rethink how education creates opportunities.”
Lumina has set a new goal with a focus on credentials and their tangible benefit for individuals and society
75% of working-age adults (25 to 64) in the U.S
labor force will have college degrees or other credentials of value leading to economic prosperity
Lumina is defining economic prosperity as people earning at least 15% more than the national average for adults with only a high school education
we’re at another inflection point because college access has improved
questions about the value of degrees and really the time
the expense and the relevance of these programs are in many ways have the potential to undermine progress
Our view is we’ve got to do more to transform higher education
workforce systems in order to meet human talent needs
we have to make sure that higher education literally serves more people better.”
Lumina is prioritizing four key areas: credentials of value
The redesign involves rethinking how education and workforce systems are structured
funded and governed to serve today’s students better
which includes improving data collection to measure progress toward economic prosperity
“It’s really about the value of post-secondary education,” said Dr
Lumina’s vice president of impact and planning
“This approach ensures that while we increase attainment
we also have to ensure that the credentials are valuable to individuals and that they’re leading to really meaningful financial benefits and long-term economic prosperity.”
The labor force being measured includes everyone who is employed, everyone unemployed but looking for work and anyone in the armed services. There is national data that can be disaggregated by state, race and ethnicity, age, credential type and gender. Brown described those as the essential elements going into A Stronger Nation, Lumina’s data visualization tool, available on the organization’s website
“We’re measuring economic prosperity out of the gate; that’s how we’re going to know the credential has value,” said Brown
“We understand that economic prosperity is more than wages…but we wanted to make sure we had something we could measure
There are other things we can’t measure yet
As our understanding and our ability to measure other things beyond this wage premium
“we hope to expand this measure to include return on investment,” adding that Limina plans to look at some non-economic measures
individual and community prosperity,” said Brown
Merisotis noted that in addition to the work of the Lumina Foundation
will all be instrumental in helping the nation achieve the goal
and I also hope that they think about it in nuanced ways
about which skills for what stage of employment in which labor market,” said Dr
assistant vice president of institutional effectiveness
research and assessment and dean of academic affairs at Hostos Community College in New York City
who noted that many community college employees are already working toward these goals
“We’re constantly thinking about that because we don’t want to waste students’ time
“We’re in a churning environment regarding federal funding
which means state funding for course development and for education in general,” she added
reviewing those goals is going to be critical to not only reaching the goals
but reaching them in a way that is meaningful.”

Expedition 33 introduces a bunch of new mechanics and systems as you play the story
which can’t be used for a few hours after beginning your journey in the game
Here’s a breakdown on when you can use them and where
You can use Colour of Lumina at the camp from the world map once you have found Maelle and visited The Manor in the Flying Waters area
and upon defeating him in a mandatory fight
he will join you in the camp when you first unlock it after the Flying Waters area
With the Colour of Lumina you can increase the amount of Lumina Points on each character
you can choose to “upgrade Expedition resources” to upgrade each character’s amount of Lumina Points
Colour of Lumina are vital items that allow you to unlock more Lumina points for every party member
These allow you to use more Lumina on your party members
letting you equip more passive buffs and abilities that can improve and enhance your build and your overall party
You can also break the game thanks to these Lumina and Pictos by combining their effects
While you won’t have a lot initially
you can improve this all the way up to several hundred Lumina Points per character when you find every resource and item throughout the game
This can even be pushed further or with stronger Pictos in New Game Plus
which unlocks once you finish Act 3 in the main story
For even more on Expedition 33, check out our breakdown of what all the attributes mean and how long the game is
The world’s defining voice in music and pop culture: breaking what’s new and what’s next since 1952
How to get Lumina Points and use Lumina Abilities
Lumina Abilities in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 are passive boosts that are important to understand and master to create stronger character builds for each member of your party
especially if you don't want to see the 'Expedition Failed' screen
Of course it's not as simple as it sounds, you need to collect Lumina Points and then spend some time focused on a completely different type of equipment in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 before you can use Lumina Abilities
here's our Clair Obscur: Expediton 33 Lumina Abilities explainer
how to get Lumina Abilities and how to use Lumina Abilities too
If you're looking for more Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 content, check out our tips and tricks page
Lumina Abilities are learned for all characters and they can be activated by multiple characters at once, unlike Pictos that can only be applied to one character at a time. You must 'Master' Pictos to be able to learn Lumina Abilities though
but this is easily done by using a Pictos in four battles
They are passive abilities that work away in the background to give your party stat boosts and buffs that can help you win difficult battles
To earn Lumina Points in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 you need to level up each character in your party
Each time a character levels up they'll earn one Lumina Point
he'll earn two Lumina Points because he moved up two levels - earning a point per level
You can also get Lumina Points by using the Colour of Lumina resource with the Curator at Camp between battles
Lumina Points are important to earn as you need them to be able to equip Lumina Abilities
so it's handy that they can be earned passively
You get Lumina Abilities in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 by 'Mastering' Pictos
You 'Master' a Pictos once you've taken it into battle a total of four times
and once it's been mastered you'll unlock the corresponding Lumina Ability which allows you to use the Pictos' boosts without needing the Pictos itself equipped
you'll be notified by a small pop up at the bottom of your screen
It will list the ability or abilities you've unlocked
and this will usually appear after the battle where you've 'Mastered' a Pictos
Lumina Abilities are passive boosts that work away in the background to give your party stat boosts and buffs that can help you win difficult battles
the most important thing you need to know is how to equip them
To equip Lumina Abilities in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 you need to enter your character menu
and then look at the panel of information on the right side of your screen
you should see a section labelled 'Luminas' and
This will also show you any Lumina Abilities you've currently got applied to the character you've highlighted
You'll also be able to see how many Lumina Points the character has here too
You can see all your available Luminas on the left side of the screen
You can filter them down into different categories if you're looking for something specific
simply select the Lumina Ability you want to use provided you've got enough Lumina Points to activate it
You've only got a limited set of slots for Lumina Abilities
so you may need to switch some out if you want to use any specific ones for a fight
Lumina Abilities that are activated by any currently equipped Pictos can't be deactivated
Lumina Abilities cost a specific amount of Lumina Points to activate (which is why we said earlier it's important to collect them)
The more Lumina Points a character has will let them activate more Lumina Abilities at one time

Ruby Chandy
has built her diverse career on a willingness to explore and try new things.
“I learned that risk-taking was critical,” said Chandy.
Chandy has worked in marketing and general management in a variety of different industries
Chandy has held sector and division general management leadership roles in various high value industrial and life science companies including Millipore
She worked in sector and general management roles and served as chief marketing officer at Dow Chemical
and as vice president of marketing at Thermo Fisher Scientific
Chandy is currently the CEO of Lumina Advisory Services
which works with private equity and venture firms and their portfolio companies.
Chandy spoke about how she navigated career transitions during her first few years after graduating from MIT Sloan.
“It’s really about figuring out what you’re good at and what satisfies you,” said Chandy.
After receiving an undergraduate degree from MIT in material science and engineering
Chandy worked as an engineer and engineering supervisor for almost four years
She then came to MIT Sloan to transition to a career in marketing
Chandy worked to deepen her marketing experience
working on consumer marketing engagements at McKinsey & Company
She found the work analytically exciting but
decided that she wanted to get into a line marketing role within a technical company.
“A theme that I come back to repeatedly in my career is wanting both thinking and doing roles in my jobs,” said Chandy.
she was more focused on the “doing”: working on projects without being involved in the strategic business decisions
she worked with companies on the “thinking” analysis to help them make strategic business decisions but realized that she was also interested in implementing those decisions
She sought a business role that could enable her to be a part of both the thinking and the doing
This led her to marketing and then general management roles at Millipore
where she worked on selling contamination control products to electronics fabs and engineers.
When it was time to take her next career step
Chandy went to Boston Scientific to run a urology business
a move that took her outside her comfort zone.
“I knew nothing about medicine or that kind of product or that kind of customer base,” said Chandy
“But I thought it would be exciting to get into and understand operating room cases.”
Chandy learned how to be successful at that job
she built relationships with the doctors and researchers who were Boston Scientific customers
She credited that experience with teaching her the value of professional risk-taking.
Chandy also emphasized the value of relationship-building in career progression
She encouraged students to build relationships with people in their fields as well as others that pique their interest.
“It took a long time to realize that as human beings
we can be more effective if we have that personal connection,” said Chandy.
Connection and collaboration through diversity have been key in Chandy’s career
She mentioned the value of having people with different perspectives interact with each other
she hired people with backgrounds in different types of marketing and who came from different types of companies.
“You need people who don’t go with the groupthink
and who can try to bring up risks,” said Chandy.
Chandy continued her marketing and general management career at Rohm and Haas
another type of professional team became integral to Chandy’s career as she joined corporate boards
With over 15 years of experience serving on public company boards
she provided some insight into boards’ responsibilities and activities
She explained that the board is an independent entity that oversees the strategy and governance of the company while offering guidance and support to senior leadership
Board members represent shareholders and other stakeholders in the company and provide external experience and viewpoints
as well as high-level perspective on the company’s strategic direction and performance.
“As you progress into the latter third of your career
I encourage you to see if your company will support you to join a board,” Chandy advised current MIT Sloan students
“Because it forces you to think the way that directors think
which can also be applied to your daily jobs.”
Although women and minorities are still underrepresented on corporate boards
Chandy pointed out that progress has been made in increasing this type of diversity
boards increasingly need people with specific expertise on topics such as cybersecurity
This opens opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to serve on boards.
Chandy often mentors women and others from underrepresented communities who want to serve on boards or lead companies in other capacities
She encourages them to network with others and share their experiences.
“Your story to tell is about the performance you’ve delivered,” Chandy advised.
Chandy has found opportunities to expand her network and get to know other MIT Sloan alumni.
She encourages current MIT Sloan students to take advantage of these opportunities for alumni to stay engaged with the school after graduation.
“[You may meet] the alumni who help you find jobs or give you advice on how to succeed.”
The mission of the MIT Sloan School of Management is to develop principled
innovative leaders who improve the world and to generate ideas that advance management practice

09:15am ESTShareSaveCommentThe Lumina Foundation has unveiled a new goal emphasizing credentials that yield at least a 15% wage ..
More premium compared to the salary of the average high school graduate
The Lumina Foundation, well-known for its national campaign to increase educational attainment
it will now focus on the economic returns associated with postsecondary credentials
It has established a 15-year timespan to achieve the goal
Those credentials of value will be defined
the percentage of adults ages 25-64 who are in the labor force
have a college degree or other post-secondary credential
and have incomes at least 15% greater than the median annual earnings of a high-school graduate
Lumina indicated that it picked 15% as the standard after consulting with labor economists
an independent private foundation in Indianapolis
issued a challenge termed the “Big Goal” that called for 60% of working-age adults nationwide to have earned a college degree or other high-quality postsecondary credential by 2025
The past decade-and-a-half has seen solid progress in attainment
with the share of working-age Americans with degrees or other credentials beyond high school rising every year
That figure represents a 3 percentage point increase over 2019’s level of 52%
and it’s the highest national level of postsecondary attainment since Lumina began gathering these data more than 15 years ago
Rather than only measuring levels of educational attainment
it intends to sharpen its focus to concentrate on degrees and credentials that yield a demonstrable economic value
The shift is a response to several factors
increasing doubts about the necessity and worth of a college degree
and growing concerns about whether college curricula are well-aligned with career requirements
Merisotis said that Lumina would make investments in these four areas over the next five years
along with improving data collection to measure progress toward economic prosperity
Lumina intends to continue working with its partners in higher education
and nonprofit organizations to help achieve the 2040 goal
It will give special attention to community colleges
and institutions serving working adults as well as first-generation-college students and those from low-income families and communities of color
Lumina also will keep tracking progress toward the 60% goal
and it has expanded A Stronger Nation to identify the current baseline for the new
Based on the most recent data available from the U.S
Census Bureau’s American Community Survey:
The Lumina Foundation’s focus on educational attainment helped drive a steady
much-needed increase in the number of Americans with post-secondary credentials over the past two decades
with the potential for significant influence once again as it sets its sights on helping higher education become a more effective path to greater economic prosperity
we see people balancing responsibilities and pursuing education against all odds
A single mother working two jobs while earning a workforce certification
A young adult managing college courses while caring for a family member
A mid-career professional returning to school to secure a degree and improve their future
These real stories of perseverance are part of a larger national achievement—driven not only by individual determination but by the collective efforts of institutions
and educators who work tirelessly to support them
Today, nearly 55 percent of working-age adults in the United States hold a degree or credential beyond high school—a milestone highlighted in the most recent 2023 data from A Stronger Nation
Lumina Foundation’s annual “report card” tracking educational progress
This progress tells a story of individual ambition
and shared commitment to creating opportunities for all
This transformation didn’t happen overnight
It required educators to reimagine learning
and policymakers to align resources with goals
these efforts have expanded access to education and reshaped the nation’s economic and social landscape
building a foundation for future generations to thrive
One of the most encouraging aspects of this progress is the rising attainment among adults aged 25 to 34
56.8 percent of this group now holds a degree or credential
these young adults are investing in their futures
Their success benefits their families and paves the way for the next generation
42 states and Puerto Rico increased their attainment rates
and Puerto Rico have seen improvements over the past 15 years
set benchmarks for success through strong educational systems and policies
such as West Virginia (44.3 percent) and Nevada (45 percent)
with a remarkable 22.5-point increase in the past 15 years
the most remarkable success belongs to Puerto Rico
the region has seen a staggering 23.5-point increase in attainment—the largest gain nationally
This achievement underscores the transformative power of strategic investments in higher education
particularly in diverse areas where thoughtful policies have had the greatest impact
Progress in educational attainment is not just about raising overall numbers but ensuring equal opportunity for all
we’ve seen significant strides in narrowing gaps
These gains reflect a shared commitment to improving access
offering resources that meet diverse needs
A key driver of this progress has been the growing recognition of short-term
Certificates and industry-recognized certifications have added 8 percentage points to the attainment rate
the share of adults with associate or bachelor’s degrees has risen by more than 24 percent since 2008
These options help bridge skills gaps and create career advancement opportunities
and the connection between education and job opportunities pose risks to continued progress
Declining trust in higher education institutions also underscores the need for action
To ensure education remains a powerful tool for all
As we look back on the progress documented in A Stronger Nation in the past 15 years
it’s crucial to remember the real people behind the numbers
The single mother striving to build a better life
the young adult juggling caregiving with college
and the mid-career worker seeking new opportunities all represent the transformative power of education
Their success is not theirs alone; they share it with educators
and entire communities that have invested in their potential
they have helped create a nation where opportunity is within reach for more people than ever before
but the past 15 years demonstrate what is possible when ambition is met with support
we can ensure that the stories of perseverance and achievement we see every day remain the driving force in shaping a brighter future for all

the Lumina Foundation set out to try to raise the percentage of working-age U.S
adults with a college credential from 38 percent to 60 percent by 2025
though it was only short a few percentage points; today
55 percent of individuals between the ages of 25 and 64 have a college degree or short-term credential
an increase that Lumina CEO Jamie Merisotis called “one of the most significant but least recognized success stories of the past decade and a half.”
Lumina’s leaders said during a news briefing Monday
and in developing a new goal for the coming 15 years
they chose to focus not only on college attainment
but also on making sure that people’s college degrees help them find success and prosperity in their careers
that anticipated that 72 percent of jobs will require postsecondary education or training by the year 2031
“Our view is that we’ve got to do more to transform higher education workforce systems in order to meet human talent needs
in order to expand economic prosperity for individuals and for families and for communities,” said Merisotis
we have to make sure higher education literally serves more people better.”
labor force—which includes members of the military and those who are looking for work—has a college degree or certificate and earns at least 15 percent more than those with just a high school diploma
according to the foundation’s analysis of Census data
Those rates are significantly lower for Native American
The foundation laid out four pillars it plans to prioritize to reach that 75 percent goal: continuing to expand access to college
redesigning college and workforce readiness to better support today’s students
and ensuring the credentials students receive do
senior vice president at the education equity nonprofit EdTrust
lauded the foundation for turning its focus to college value—and for providing a definition of what a valuable credential actually is
“The return-on-investment piece is under serious scrutiny nationally,” he said
“Including a metric that measures outcome—that measures income as an outcome—pushes folks to think about the return on investment of higher education that I think is a much-needed data point”—though he noted that earning 15 percent more than high school graduates
who made an average of about $38,000 in 2023
said at the media briefing that the 15 percent figure was determined in consultation with multiple labor economists.)
Lumina’s quest to increase credentials of value will be a boon not only to graduates
but also to employers seeking to recruit talent they can trust will have the job skills to succeed in their role
president and CEO of the National Association of Colleges and Employers
he called the project a “worthy goal” and a “win-win” for graduates and employers
“The education landscape is changing and how adults are consuming education is changing,” he wrote in an emailed statement to Inside Higher Ed
I hope we can expand the speed at which our educational institutions can evolve to meet the changing needs of employers and their focus on skills-based hiring.”
policy and advocacy at Complete College America
noted that while he appreciated the foundation’s focus on the value of credentials
he was also happy Lumina hadn’t shifted its focus away from attainment entirely
“College attainment is still the best predictor of the higher wage outcomes,” he said
“If you have full-time-student graduation rates hovering in the 20s at best in the community college space … it’s hard to get economic mobility
It’s still extremely important to put that attainment goal itself first and not to lose sight of quantifying that college completion.”
As for whether the 75 percent goal seems achievable
because it’s simply what needs to happen to keep the country’s economy and democracy healthy
“We should never lie to ourselves about what we need to do,” he said
“I don’t find it unrealistic—it’s what we need to do.”

Osisko Metals Incorporated (the " Company or " Osisko Metals ") ( TSX-V: OM ; OTCQX: OMZNF ; FRANKFURT: 0B51 ) is pleased to announce new drilling results from the 2025 drilling program at the Gaspé Copper Project
located in the Gaspé Peninsula of Eastern Québec
Results for six new holes are reported below
located at the southern end of the deposit defined in the 2024 Mineral Resource Estimate ("MRE"
Robert Wares, Osisko Metals CEO
commented: "We are very pleased with these new drill results at Gaspé which continue to confirm our new geological model
New mineralization has again been added at depth
and drill hole 30-1067 further demonstrates the potential to extend the deposit to the south
DDH 30-1067 was terminated in an undocumented stope above the C zone
Further drilling will be conducted this month to test the deeper stratigraphy in this area for extended mineralization (to the base of the E zone
about 316 metres below hole 30-1067."
Table 1: Drill hole mineralized intervals
*Holes marked by an asterisk intersected stopes and did not reach targeted depths
The deposit remains open to the south and southwest
Drill holes 30-1062 and 30-1066 are located at the southeast margin and to the east of the 2024 MRE limit (respectively)
and these two holes did not intersect significant mineralization
indicating that the deposit may not extend towards the east
All holes were drilled sub-vertically into the altered calcareous stratigraphy which dips 20 to 25 degrees to the north; true widths are estimated at 90-92% of reported widths
The L1 (C Zone) the L2 (E Zone) skarn/marble horizons were intersected in most holes
as well as intervening porcellanites (pale green to white potassic-altered hornfels) that host the bulk of the disseminated copper mineralization
The November 2024 MRE was limited at depth to the base of the L1 skarn horizon (C Zone)
and all mineralized intersections below this horizon represent potential depth extensions to the deposit
to be included in the next scheduled MRE update in H1 2026
Mineralization occurs as disseminations and veinlets of chalcopyrite and is mostly stratigraphically controlled in the area of Needle Mountain
no significant molybdenum mineralization was encountered in porcellanites in the latter areas
but high grades (up to 0.4% Mo) were locally obtained in both the C Zone and E Zone skarns
The bulk of the molybdenum mineralization occurs in veinlet stockworks further north at Copper Mountain
where true porphyry copper-style mineralization occurs
forming a distinct secondary mineralized zone that is characterized by widespread
continuous copper-molybdenum stockwork mineralization radiating from the central source of hydrothermal fluids
At least five vein/stockwork mineralizing events have been recognized at Copper Mountain
which overprint earlier skarn/porcellanite-hosted mineralization throughout the Gaspé Copper system
The 2022 to 2024 Osisko Metals drill programs were focused on defining open-pit resources within the Copper Mountain stockwork mineralization
Extending the resource model south of Copper Mountain into the poorly-drilled primary skarn/porcellanite portion of the system subsequently led to a significantly increased resource
mostly in the Inferred category (see November 14
The current drill program is designed to convert of the November 2024 MRE to Measured and Indicated categories
as well as test the expansion of the system deeper into the stratigraphy and laterally to the south and southwest towards Needle East and Needle Mountain respectively
is the Independent Qualified Person responsible for the technical data reported in this news release and he is a Professional Geologist registered in the Province of Quebec
Mineralized intervals reported herein are calculated using an average 0.12% copper lower cut-off over contiguous 20-metre intersections (shorter intervals as the case may be at the upper and lower limits of reported intervals)
Intervals of 20 metres or less are reported unless indicating significantly higher grades
Osisko Metals adheres to a strict QA/QC program for core handling
including insertion of blanks and standards in the sample stream
Drill core is drilled in HQ or NQ diameter and securely transported to its core processing facility on site
Samples selected for assay are sealed and shipped to ALS Canada Ltd.'s preparation facility in Sudbury
Sample preparation details (code PREP-31DH) are available on the ALS Canada website
All samples are analyzed by four acid digestion followed by both ICP-AES and ICP-MS for copper
