"There is no reason to panic for those who think there is still life in the universe," Carabelea quipped, according to a translation by The Independent. The statement was posted to Facebook after the discovery surfaced Friday
cheeky and terrible teenagers left home with their parents' UFO and started planting metal monoliths around the world
First in Utah and then at Piatra Neamt," he added
The monolith in Utah disappeared less than 10 days after officers from the state's Department of Public Safety first spotted it. Authorities professed their utter confusion at its presence in Utah's Red Rock Country
They were no less confused by its sudden disappearance overnight Friday. An adventure photographer said that he spotted four men dismantling the structure, according to The New York Times
All that was left of the structure Saturday morning was "a triangular metal piece that used to be on top and a hole where the base of the tower stood," according to The Salt Lake Tribune
The Bureau of Land Management denied moving the structure
Carabelea said that while he had no answers himself
he would not be upset if the newfound mystery happened to attract tourists to his city
"Beyond the conspiracy theories that can be tempting," he added
"I'd like to see this randomness as further proof that our city is special

Dulcinella is a brand created in 2005 in the Republic of Moldova
and since 2021 it has also entered the Romanian market
The company has a network of 18 confectioners and pastry shops (one of which is franchised) in Bucharest
Over 40% sales growth with a network reduced by 30%
“The year 2024 was a year of transformation
ending with a turnover of €7.1 million for the Dulcinella Romania group
we ended with a significant increase compared to 2023
even though we operated with only 18 confectioners
This result was driven by the change of the business strategy as a result of a new Group management vision
which included the closure of the inherited underperforming confectioners
I believe that the main factor of this result is efficiency”
Among the main business initiatives of Dulcinella in 2025 are the opening of a new factory in Târgu Neamț (to relocate the current one)
increasing the network by opening 32 franchise units – to reach 50 units by the end of the year
an investment of EUR 200,000 in a new ERP system for process optimization
and expanding storage capacity for frozen products
The new factory in Târgu Neamț will employ approximately 100 people, double the number at the current one.
The company acquired a former textile factory in Targu Neamt at the end of 2024 for EUR 750,000
which has an area of 4,700 square meters and is located on a 8,500 square meter plot of land
The entire planned investment in the new factory will be another EUR 3 million
The new factory is planned to open in August and will replace the current one
being more modern and with a production capacity about three times greater than the existing one
Around 100 people will work in the new factory
working in the existing factory and the network of confectioneries and pastry shops
The new factory in Târgu Neamț will open instead of the one scheduled to launch this year in Cernica
Dulcinella’s management aims to build a logistics hub for storing frozen products
which will support both the factory’s operations and the company’s long-term expansion
“The initial planning for the opening of the new factory on the 19,000 square meters acquired in Cernica in 2024 has been modified due to an opportunity that arose at the end of last year
We purchased a former textile factory in Târgu Neamț
which gives us the advantage of retaining the existing team and opening the new factory much faster
saving about two years compared to the original plan
The planned investment for Cernica remains strategic for us but will be redirected towards building a hub that will reinforce our logistical infrastructure and enhance operations in the coming years,” explained the CEO of Dulcinella Romania
Launch of savory pastry products and a campaign with Dubai chocolate
Dulcinella will initially focus on cities located approximately 150 kilometers from Bucharest and on the Moldova area
where production and distribution infrastructure is already well-developed
Dulcinella’s management will launch three new types of savory products this year
in response to growing demand for savory pastries
although general preferences have remained constant over the years
the end of 2024 brought the trend of Dubai chocolate
with the company recently running a sales campaign for this product in all Dulcinella confectioneries
Dulcinella Romania is a brand of confectionery and pastry rooted in Bessarabian cuisine that launched in Romania in 2021
and since 2023 is part of the investment portfolio of the Cornelius H Group LTD investment fund based in London
Products are made in the Dulcinella factory in Târgu Neamț and are sold through a network present in Bucharest
Some of the most appreciated creations include pastries like Cușma lui Guguta
and baked goods like skillet pies or croissants
The brand operates offline and online through a network of confectioneries and pastry shops

Factory Husqvarna stars Grahm Jarvis and Alfredo Gomez finish first and third respectively in Romania
Bel-Ray Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Graham Jarvis successfully defended his event champion title at the Hard Enduro Piatra Neamt (HEPN)
round two of the European Extreme Enduro Championship
while Jarvis’ teammate Alfredo Gomez was third
Piatra Neamt is a mountain town in northeastern Romania
about 350 km north of the capital city of Bucharest
Jarvis entered the HEPN as the man to beat
but with the raced drawing a group of world-class extreme enduro riders to the second round of the all-new European Extreme Enduro Championship
After finishing second in Friday’s prologue
Jarvis started Day One in second but caught rival Jonny Walker on the final hill climb and passed the KTM star to win the day and gain a sizable advantage to start Day Two
With no one to chase after (he led overall on adjusted time)
Jarvis rode smoothly and made very few mistakes on Day Two
Although Walker crossed the finish line directly ahead of Jarvis
the Husky rider had more than enough time in hand to secure the outright win and take over the series points lead
“It’s great to get another win at the HEPN and also take the lead in the European Extreme Enduro Championship,” Jarvis said
Rain on day one made things very slippery and greasy and also navigation was hard
On the last hill I managed to pass Jonny and take the win
That gave me a good advantage entering the final day
so I knew that if I rode smart the outright win was mine
Jonny caught me early and was pushing hard so I just tried to stay close to him
We pretty much arrived to the finish together so I knew I had won the race–it’s been a brilliant weekend.”
costly errors caused him to lose time to Jarvis and Walker
Gomez ended the day in third and just missed out on beating Walker for the runner-up spot by 6 seconds

The mysterious monolith case has gone international
A metal monolith that appeared in Romania has disappeared – following reports, and the fate, of a perplexing 10-foot metal structure found embedded in remote Utah that made international news, only to disappear 10 days later.
was found last week on Batca Doamnei Hill in the northern Romanian city of Piatra Neamt – close to the Petrodava Dacian Fortress archeological landmark
But Reuters reported Tuesday that the shiny metal Romanian monolith has disappeared
quoting journalist Robert Iosub of the local newspaper Ziar Piatra Neamt
"The 2.8 metre (9ft) tall structure disappeared overnight as quietly as it was erected last week," Iosub said
The mayor of Piatra Neamt, Andrei Carabelea, had welcomed the discovery with a humorous Facebook statement on Nov. 28, the day after a similar structure went missing in Utah
Mysterious Utah monolith: Disappears from the desert, removed by 'unknown party'
promising the strange formation was "nothing scary
there is no reason to panic for those who believe that there is still life in the universe."
"Piatra Neamț hosts a mysterious object," he wrote
"My guess is that some naughty and terrifying alien teenagers have left home with their parents' UFOs and started planting metal monoliths around the world
The town official noted he would have appreciated if the builder "followed the legal steps to obtain a building permit."
Closer inspection suggested a distinctly regular-human origin for the slightly crude Romanian structure
made it," Iosub said. "Now all that remains is just a small hole covered by rocky soil."
There could be consequences for the Romanian builder
human or alien. A spokeswoman for Piatra Neamt police
told Reuters that officers are conducting an inquiry into the illegally-installed structure
which was positioned in a protected archaeological area
The Utah Department of Public Safety discovered the original object embedded into the rock Nov
18 during an expedition counting bighorn sheep in the barren
The exact location of the installation was initially not disclosed in an effort to stop individuals from attempting to locate it
for fear visitors could potentially become stranded in a remote area
Days after the Bureau of Land Management revealed the structure had disappeared
revealed he saw four unidentified men remove the celebrated object
"They took it away for a few reasons," Newlands told USA TODAY on Tuesday
and this was out-of-place in a pristine and sensitive environment."
Newlands noted the monolith was becoming a major attraction and "the damage to the land from all the vehicles and people was going to be disastrous."
metal monolith that recently appeared on a Romanian hilltop disappeared Tuesday
The nine-foot-tall structure "disappeared overnight as quietly as it was erected last week," journalist Robert Iosub, from the Ziar Piatra Neamt newspaper, told Reuters after seeing the structure
"Now all that remains is just a small hole covered by rocky soil."
or who put it near the town of Piatra Neamt four days ago — but the structure appeared on the same day a twin monolith vanished from the Utah desert
The twin slabs have some differences: the Romanian monolith is mostly covered in interconnected circles
Both seem akin to the giant slab from an iconic scene in Stanley Kubrick's 1968 film
Equivalent satellite imagery to establish whether the Romanian monolith has been there for long is not available
There was no obvious indication of who left either the monolith
Utah state officials poked fun at the idea that aliens left behind the structure
"It is illegal to install structures or art without authorization on federally managed public lands
no matter what planet you're from," the division said in a statement
Bill Bostock contributed reporting to this story
The strange silver monolith that appeared and then disappeared from a remote part of Utah has now shown up in Romania
We'll update this story as we get new information
ORIGINAL STORY: As we previously reported, the 10 to 12 foot tall silver metal monolith that appeared in Utah a couple weeks ago disappeared this past weekend
It apparently made quite the trip as it's now in eastern Europe
This video was shared by Stiri Piatra Neamt on the Daily Mail website in the UK
I'd say that someone is rebooting that movie and is using the monolith as a stunt to promote their movie which is about to be announced
but it makes sense to me as a movie company would have the resources to get this monolith halfway around the world
How they did it (if they did) with no one seeing them do it is quite a trick though
it could be the preface before an alien invasion
Has 2020 been strange enough for you yet? If not, let us help. The strange silver monolith that appeared and then disappeared from a remote part of Utah has now shown up in Romania.\nRead More

The Mayor of Piatra Neamt maintains that the road is part of a modernisation plan of the area
There are ongoing protests in the country over its lack of motorways and infrastructure
traffic was blocked in Bucharest after several drivers stopped their cars for 15 minutes to join a protest named “Romania wants motorways #sieu [#metoo]”
The campaign was initiated by businessman Stefan Mandachi
Mandachi built a metre of highway in his home city of Suceava in just one day
he announced he would stop all activity of his restaurant chain
in order to protest the lack of motorways in Moldavia and around the country

Romania has now vanished as suddenly as it had appeared
no one has come forward to claim responsibility over either obelisks
although the Internet has already begun speculating
with some originally suggesting that it might’ve been a prop left over after HBO’s Westworld had filmed in the Utah region
The appearance of this second monolith has since cast doubt on that theory
and now Internet detectives are scrambling for more clues
Robert Iosub — a Romanian reporter at Ziar Patra Neamt — has suggested to Reuters that it simply may have been a local welder: “An unidentified person
made it … now all that remains is just a small hole covered by rocky soil.”
A mysterious metal monolith was found atop a hill in Romania on the same day a similar one in Utah was reported missing
Utah state employees out counting sheep by helicopter over federal lands south of Moab spotted a metal structure at the base of a red-rock formation
Authorities were puzzled and joked that it could be aliens
On Saturday, the Bureau of Land Management said the monolith was reported missing on Friday and had disappeared
a hill near the northeastern town of Piatra Neamt
The Romanian sculpture is about 3 or 4 meters tall and appeared hollow, the Ziar Piatra Neamt report said. The Utah monolith was said to be about 3 meters tall
The Romanian monolith appeared to be mostly covered in interconnected circles
Equivalent satellite imagery to establish whether the Romanian monolith has been there for long was not available
While the Utah monolith's origin remains a mystery, a leading theory suggests it's a work by the US artist John McCracken
Another popular theory circulating on social media is that it was a homage to the 1968 Arthur C
Clarke novel and Stanley Kubrick film "2001: A Space Odyssey." In the book and the film
a monolith arrives on Earth to dispense wisdom to human ancestors
Developer New Europe Property Investments (NEPI) announced the start of construction works for its latest 33,000 sqm project
will have a gross leasable area of 28,000 sqm when fnished
For the project’s smooth integration into the community of Piatra Neamt
the developer is considering the construction of two roundabouts
which will ease traffic congestion in the area
The shopping center, which will be opened by the end of the year, has already attracted a large number of famous brands, reaching an 80 percent occupancy level one week after its official launch. Among the names that will be present in the mall are C&A, CCC, Pepco, Intersport, Benvenuti, Kendra, Orsay, Sensiblu and Zoo Center. Shopping City Piatra Neamt will also host a Cinema City multiplex with six halls.
With the inauguration of the shopping center will come the first Carrefour hypermarket in the region
Carrefour is set to become one of the largest employers in the city
Few months after announcing the start of construction works for Shopping City Piatra Neamt
the real estate developer NEPI said the first brands have expressed their interest to open their stores there
“We want to help Piatra Neamt become the number one destination in tourism from Moldova area
We believe that the resources and attractions already exist
what we still need is to show their value from commercial point of view and this is our role in this new center,“ says Sebastian Mahu
Shopping City Piatra Neamt will be opened at the end of 2016 and will have a leasable area of 28,000 sqm, according to the developer.
„There is an increase interest for Shopping City Piatra Neamt spaces occupancy
We are proud to announce that only after a few months of the construction works start announcement
several local and international brands are already preparing their spaces to meet the people from the region,“ says Mahu
Optim Project Management has added another retail project to its portfolio. Shopping City Piatra Neamt was officially opened by NEPI on December 1
Optim PM started the works on site in May 2016, and this engagement was made possible through the collaboration between the Optima Project Management’s 15 professionals and the rest of the project team
Optim Project Management was in charge with construction and cost management
MEP installations and structural design and managed the fit out works of the Cinema City complex
In the midst of enthusiastic speculation surrounding the strange metal monolith discovered amidst the red rock of the Utah desert (and its subsequent disappearance)
an almost identical monolithic structure appeared thousands of miles across the earth
It was standing on a hill overlooking the city of Piatra Neamt in Romania
only four days after the surprising discovery
The disappearance of the Utah monolith has since been explained—it appears four mysterious men removed it—but that of its Romanian counterpart is still under investigation
What yet remains to be seen is where they both came from
While one of the theories surrounding the Utah edifice is that it’s the work of late artist John McCracken
it has been stated that the Romanian structure was made by an unidentified welder local to the area
Though it is now clear that they are not one and the same
many still seem to think that the two monoliths are somehow related
They are quite similar in height and appearance
uneven markings etched into its surface (in contrast to the smooth surface of its Utah twin)
Another similarity: they were both placed without authorization on protected lands
Is it art? A publicity stunt? Extraterrestrials? The world is still guessing. “There is no reason to panic for those who think there is still life in the universe,” comments Andrei Carabelea
I am honoured that they chose our city.”
As if the appearance (and subsequent disappearance) of this new monolith weren't intriguing enough, there is now a third monolith that has popped up in California. Like the structure found in Utah, this metallic monolith found in Pine Mountain in Atascadero features a smooth surface. The Atascadero News reports
“The three-sided obelisk appeared to be made of stainless steel
The object was welded together at each corner
with rivets attaching the side panels to a likely steel frame inside
The top of the monument did not show any weld marks
It seems the world will just have to wait and see whether this monolith also vanish and whether another one will show up somewhere else in the world

the bear was rehabilitated by sanctuary workers

which had received more than 6.4 million views at the time of this publication:

Snopes contacted sanctuary founder Cristina Lapis
On the Romanian organization's website, Ina is listed as a resident bear, with a description that reads:
For 20 years Ina had only half of a swimming pool
half of a shelter and half of a walking space
At the zoo in Piatra Neamt she lived only half of a life – literally and figuratively
the pen was provided with just one pool of water
one den and one "walking" area… for 2 bears
AMP managed to bring her to the sanctuary in Zarnesti
The video in question was originally posted to the sanctuary's Facebook account on Jan. 13, 2021, (archived here) with a caption translated to English that read:
When you go to a zoo that has tiny spaces for animals
Her mind remained trapped in an imaginary cage
the same one that held her captive for 20 years
This is the image of trauma that sometimes never heal and never forget
Below is how the video originally appeared:
Lapis told Snopes she had rescued more than 100 bears throughout the years
many of whom had been held in small pens and to this day "remain in their mental cage" even after arriving at the 200-acre property
like for any human being who spent 20 years in prison; some of them can move on
Research indicates that, like humans, animals may experience post-traumatic stress disorder that can be caused by a variety of stressors and may result in long-term consequences
Ina continued to circle at the sanctuary for about six months
Sanctuary staff placed a stone in the path to block her pattern
and eventually Ina began to break the habit of walking in circles
Though sometimes Ina falls back into her circling routine
Lapis said the bear is happiest in the forest with other resident bears
"Ina is the story that is known," said Lapis
adding that there are more captive bears that need help

A fire at a hospital treating COVID-19 patients has killed 10 people and critically injured seven others in Piatra Neamt
officials said Saturday.The Associated Press
A fire at a hospital treating COVID-19 patients in northeastern Romania killed 10 people and critically injured seven others Saturday
The blaze spread through the intensive care ward designated for people with COVID-19 patients at the public hospital in the city of Piatra Neamt
local Emergency Situations Inspectorate spokesperson Irina Popa said
Popa said all but one of the people who died or were injured in the fire were hospital patients
Health Minister Nelu Tataru told Romanian media the fire was “most likely triggered by a short circuit.”
News outlets reported that the Piatra Neamt Regional Emergency Hospital has long been poorly managed
with eight government-appointed managers overseeing the facility in the last year
was appointed just three weeks ago after his predecessor resigned over the poor treatment of patients
The resignation followed media reports of patients
being forced to wait outside in the cold to see a doctor
Micu said Saturday that a doctor on duty tried to save the patients from the flames and was in critical condition with first- and second-degree burns covering 80 per cent of his body
Piatra Neamt is about 353 kilometres north of Romania’s capital

City mayor Andrei Carabelea appeared to amiably play along with the bewildering discovery
cheeky and terrible teenagers left home with their parents’ UFO and started planting metal monoliths around the world
First in Utah and then at Piatra Neamt,” he said
Carabelea added that he wouldn’t be upset if the mystery attracted tourists to his city
“Beyond the conspiracy theories that can be tempting,” he added
“I’d like to see this randomness as further proof that our city is special
their monolith had disappeared by Monday morning — just as quickly as its American counterpart
made it… now all that remains is just a small hole covered by rocky soil.”
The news comes after state wildlife officials counting bighorn sheep in Utah spotted a metal monolith standing in a random
with nothing except a few jumbled red rocks remaining in its place
many visitors had rushed to the location to catch a glimpse of the curiosity
which was reportedly removed by environmentally-conscious hikers
who feared the destructive impact of the crowds on the remote location
one visitor to the site said he knocked on the monolith to see what it sounded like
and noted that it didn’t sound solid or magnetic

A MYSTERY metal monolith has appeared on a Romanian hillside
The monolith was spotted on Batca Doamnei Hill in the city of Piatra Neamt last week
It comes just days after a metal monolith appeared - then disappeared with no explanation - in the middle of the Utah desert
sending conspiracy theorists and UFO-spotters into a frenzy
The mysterious metal structure in Romania was found a few metres from the well-known archaeological landmark the Petrodava Dacian Fortress
It is a dark metallic colour and appears to be covered in concentric scribble-like rings
The shiny triangular structure has a height of about four metres and one side faces Mount Ceahlau
It is one of the most famous mountains in Romania
and is listed as one of the seven natural wonders of the country
The Dacian fortress Petrodava represents the oldest historical monument in Piatra Neamţ
It is believed to have been destroyed by the Romans in 2nd century AD but the remains can still be seen today in the form of parts of the city wall
Neamt Culture and Heritage official Rocsana Josanu said: “We have started looking into the strange appearance of the monolith
but we still don’t know who the monolith’s owner is yet
It is in a protected area on an archaeological site.”
She added: “Before installing something there
one that must then be approved by the Ministry of Culture.”
Meanwhile, it's American cousin - which was discovered by shocked wildlife officers counting sheep from a helicopter last week - has since vanished.
News of the find sent UFO spotters and conspiracy theorists wild with some even claiming the shiny tower was a secret alien antenna or homing beacon.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) said last night: "We have received credible reports that the illegally installed structure
referred to as the 'monolith,' has been removed
"The BLM did not remove the structure
which is considered private property."
