Two months after a bear chased a skier down the hill at Predeal in Romania
another video — this one up close and personal — shows the same thing happening again
Consider canceling any travel plans you have to Romania’s Predeal ski resort. On the heels (literally) of a terrifying bear chase at that resort in January
another video has surfaced of a grizzly tearing after a skier earlier this month at the very same resort
But where the last video was shot from a chairlift
this video is straight from the perspective of the skier
the bear appears to close within just a few feet
This looks more like curiosity — and possibly a warning — than an attack
According to ABC News
the video was shot from the perspective of 50-year-old ski instructor Adrian Stoica
who was about to conduct a class on March 9
It first shows the bear casually investigating Stoica and a group of skiers
“I was just checking the ski slope condition before I take my students for a ski lesson,” Stoica told ABC
a bear suddenly appeared on the slope and a group of at least 15 skiers was trapped on the spot
I told them to try to chase the bear away by making noise and shouting
almost comical as it lies down and plops its snout in the snow
But when Stoica tries to draw the bear away from the group
it pops up and immediately begins trotting after him
slowly moved out of the group and made the bear come after me as he was really close to the group,” he told ABC
“I was just hoping that the bear would get tired and would go back to the forest.”
But the bear continued after the instructor
dramatically increasing its pace to keep up with the skier
Stoica notices more skiers ahead on the slope
Audio picks up other skiers screaming and shouting as they see the bear
never taking the camera off the bear — even at times chuckling as it continues to chase him down the hill
After a minutes-long chase, the bear eventually loses interest and walks off into the woods. According to Ion Zaharia, a spokesperson for the Brasov County Police Department in Transylvania, this bear is the brother of the bear previously seen chasing a skier at Predeal
And Zaharia told ABCV there’s at least one more bear in the woods around the ski resort

Trump Asserts Ukraine Won’t Join NATO in Future Peace Agreement with Russia
Donald Trump made strong statements regarding Ukraine’s potential NATO membership
asserting that the country would not be allowed to join the alliance as part of a future peace agreement with Russia
Trump was asked about the possible concessions Ukraine should make in a settlement
and he responded firmly: “You can forget about NATO membership
That’s probably the reason the whole thing started.”
Trump’s comments reflect his continued opposition to NATO’s expansion
which has been seeking closer ties with the West amid its ongoing conflict with Russia
The former president emphasized that this issue was likely a key factor in sparking the war
suggesting that NATO’s eastward expansion was a significant provocation to Moscow
Trump ruled out any lifting of sanctions on Russia before a peace deal is reached
reaffirming his stance that such measures would remain in place until a resolution is achieved
The remarks highlight the complexities of the diplomatic situation and the difficult negotiations ahead
particularly as global powers debate the terms of any potential peace agreement in the region
The international community continues to closely monitor the evolving situation
with Ukraine’s future in NATO remaining a contentious issue in the ongoing conflict with Russia

My colleague Louise Callaghan has already written eloquently on our recent assignment in Brasov. This is the photographer’s perspective.
The assignment was to “illustrate the effects of bear encroachment possibly tied into a 2016 ban on bear hunting”. Clearly, there would need to be a picture of a bear, which is easier said than done.
Images of bears were everywhere: on Romania’s favourite beer, Ursus, Barny chocolate bars, fridge magnets and street art. This seemed to sum up the dichotomy between the real and a fictionalised vision of bears.
Bears and bear imagery feature heavily in a region that has one of the highest bear densities in the worldTIMES PHOTOGRAPHER JACK HILLTIMES PHOTOGRAPHER JACK HILLWould we see real brown bears? but it is unknown at this point if it will be shot in Romania
Head of Production Film and Television with Icon Films

The Pre, which went on sale in the US last month, has been tipped as the most viable alternative yet produced to the iPhone
The new version of the Apple device – the iPhone 3GS – went on sale less than two weeks ago and a million were snapped up in the first three days
O2 already has an exclusive deal with Apple to stock the iPhone and grabbing the Palm Pre is likely to further cement its position as the UK's largest mobile phone network. Reports of a tie-up between Palm and O2 first appeared in May and Carphone Warehouse is also expected to stock the Pre
O2 is believed to have seen off fierce competition for the device from Orange
which it also beat to the iPhone at the last minute
Analysts reckon that Palm has already sold more than 300,000 Pre devices in the US alone and the handset has a crucial role to play in reviving the company's flagging fortunes
After pioneering the handheld computer market in the 1990s with the Palm Pilot
the company's move into the mobile phone business was scuppered by the arrival of the iPhone
said that launching a hit device was the vital first step on the road to recovery
"We've been fighting the battle with basically both hands tied behind our back for the past year and half," he said
"Now we're getting on the playing field
and we're going to be extremely competitive
The Apple device sent many handset manufacturers back to the drawing board when it appeared two years ago
Since then a series of 'me-too' touchscreen devices have appeared
from the Nokia 5800 and Sony's X-Series Walkman to the HTC Magic and T-Mobile's G1
has pushed hard into the consumer market with the Blackberry Storm
The Palm Pre has received positive reviews since it launched in the US under an exclusive deal with Sprint
Its touchscreen has been compared favourably with that on the iPhone
while the Pre also has a full slide-out keyboard
making emails easier to type than on the Apple device
But for many users the most striking difference between the iPhone and the Pre is the way in which the latter device charges: rather than being plugged in
it merely has to be placed on what Palm calls its "Touchstone" and charges through magnetic induction
