Maja resembles a favorite character from the author’s own teenage years: Holden Caulfield I related to him as a deeply depressed funny teenager Persson Giolito went to an upscale prep school “At the same time I hated literature studies: the snobbery of it and the absolute meaningless of it.” Her father “He told me that nobody can live by reading alone,” she remembers Persson Giolito had a stunning start to her law career recruited following graduation by the largest Nordic law firm “I was the golden child of the firm until I had my first child,” she says By the time she was pregnant with her third child she was contemplating her annual and often repetitive resolutions: lose ten pounds and knocked out her first book in less than nine months She delivered the manuscript the day her daughter was born perhaps because she wrote what she knew: a novel about a female lawyer who is fired while pregnant They had to hire crisis management for six months.” Of this initial success she says: “Who wants to be an angry bitch But I was good at being revengeful.” Now she spends her days at home writing full time from 9am to 4pm She only stops to meet her children at the bus stop and to walk the dog she was headed back to Brussels to begin a fifth book She’s already decided that the protagonist will be a character she knows well: Peder Sanders from Quicksand She’s not quite sure what the plot will be but she says she doesn’t rule out the topic of terrorism Liljekvist Garners All-BIG EAST Honors for Third Straight Year5/12/2016 12:00:00 AM | Women's Tennis John's in the BIG EAST Championship quarterfinals Chi Alpha Sigma inductee and recipient of Seton Hall's Academic Merit Award will graduate from Seton Hall on Monday 2016 All-BIG EAST Tennis Selections Patricia Lancranjan, DePaul Rebeca Mitrea, DePaul Yuliya Shupenia, DePaul* Risa Nakagawa, Georgetown Victoire Saperstein, Georgetown Silvia Ambrosio, Marquette* Anna Morozova, St. John's Natallia Vavulina, St. John's Hannah Liljekvist BIG EAST Player of the Year: Sydney Liggins Xavier BIG EAST Freshman of the Year: Silvia Ambrosio Marquette BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year: Xavier Europe / 5 Dream Houses: Sweden where we're met with beautiful architecture of old and new and a seamless mix of classical and modern.  built in the 19th century is located in Narvavägen This high-ceiling offers features like a beautiful oriel herringbone parquet floors and a fireplace https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-748-s4qyrl/narvavagen-24-stockholm-st-115-22 This classic beauty was build in the Art Nouveau style and has been kept in pristine condition through the years and has been declared a valuable building by the community preservation program https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-85535-yp9l64/johan-baners-gata-17a-helsingborg-sk-254-40 Located on the Bay of Skälderviken and built in 1932 this water front property sits atop Arild slopes facing the bay sporting a classical look with plenty of natural light The three spacious storeys offer a number of luxuries and amenities including a free-standing bath that sits in front of French doors that open up to a beautiful view of the bay.  https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-809-8wv649/klippvagen-6-other-skane-sk-263-73# Known as one of the most beautiful homes currently on the market in Djursholm built in 1915, was designed by architect Karl Güettler for the Church of Sweden. The home features many unique original details and a row of large rooms all of which offer natural light from all the windows facing south-west as well as three ornamented fireplaces and plenty of other beautiful details from the period of construction https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-748-26nfhp/sigurdvagen-12-djursholm-st-18254 Our last stop is a modern piece located snug among the woods This contemporary home looks over water and forests floor-to-ceiling windows to accentuate that view modern and classical elements are present throughout the property https://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-748-t4scpg/bergstroms-vag-2-other-stockholm-st-134-66#' Swedish architecture has a uncanny way of making classic look brand new Its modern architecture mixes well with the historical with old exteriors sporting modern interiors ultimately modernizing historical buildings to meet the needs of the modern Swede.  Δdocument.getElementById( "ak_js_1" ).setAttribute( "value" This week's Product Roundup starts with Avito (twice)..   Europe: Avito partners with M2Data for listing verifications Avito Real Estate.. The book explores many different aspects of this community but focuses on the fact that children who grow up here are bred to become leaders Kids in primary school learn how to make PowerPoint presentations and are required to wear formal dress shirts while presenting them Holmqvist: "Education in Djursholm is not primarily about acquiring certain academic skills So for instance in schools there is much emphasis on doing project work and doing presentations of these but also learn to think about how you behave in a very fundamental way All these are important charateristics for a leader in today's society and this is basically the main idea with Djursholm and through the notion of consecration then that you're consecrated with a certain aura which makes you socially elevated compared to other people." Success and achievement are core principles and goals for children growing up in Djursholm something that can put a lot of pressure on kids One of the effects of this pressure is a very high alcohol consumption Djursholm has one of swedens highest alcohol consumption statistics in all of sweden "She came home and told us that the host's father had stood up on a table and shouted about how fun it was when youths drink and get drunk and have one-night-stands - I thought this was horrible to hear this because we tried to raise my daughter in a very different way But I guess it's a way to live in a modern and free way Either way it's the most negative aspect of living in Djursholm - when rich parents act in this way," said Katie Wettergren a pensioner who moved to Djursholm from eastern Germany in the 70's who doesn't speak English but told me about when her 29 year old daughter came home from a party a 33 year-old woman living in Djursholm did not grow up in the area but moved here two and a half years ago with her husband who did grow up in Djursholm She is not surprised by the findings in the book I mean it's no surprise that it is a very affluent area and there are a lot of wealthy people around who of course pass their values on to their kids and so on." Do you see it as a problem that kids are sort of bred to become leaders "I think the problem is perhaps when kids get too protected they don't get exposed to other parts of the world and other parts of town they live in I would say there're worse problems a kid could have than learning how to put a shirt on and do a powerpoint presentation." had also heard about the study but downplayed the stereotypes of Djursholm being full of rich kids with good grades Johan: "Well there is of course some pressure because there are many students who have good grades but im not sure it's because of the area because I think all students who have high grades have that kind of pressure." a lot of students have high grades but I think there's a big variation of students that there aren't just people who have good grade and are really the leader persons there are also people who are just like me who have decent grades but not maybe not the best But I don't feel pressured by the better people to get even better grades or I don't feel like I will fail in life just because of my grades" Mikael Holmqvist claims that Djursholm really is like any isolated upscale community in the world but that it has traditionally been unique in sweden as more and more people become wealthy and seek these kinds of communities to raise their kids in I think the self-image also here in Djursholm is 'we are different' Djursholm is one thing and the rest of Sweden is a different thing but on the other hand you can say that this community is a good representation of similar communities that have existed for many years around the world and that are well acknowledged We may find Djursholm in Sweden as a peculiar thing but abroad I think people are used to these kinds of exclusive suburbs In a sense this is a social democratic dream - everybody can succeed plus weekly summary on Fridays at 4.30pm on P2 (P6 89.6FM in Stockholm) Kontakta gärna Sveriges Radios forum för teknisk support där vi finally have reached this day," Sister Beata at St Bridget's Convent in Djursholm in Stockholm Sister Beata wears a white cloth crown punctuated by red dots which is the signature garment of the Bridgettine nuns The order was founded by Bridget of Sweden the woman who founded this convent as part of her effort to breath new life into an order that had in places been languishing after the reformation will become a Catholic saint. According to Björn Göransson who just wrote a book about Elisabeth Hesselblad (Maria Elisabeth Hesselblad - Ett Helgon från Sverige) she will be the second Swede ever to be canonized in a solemn way by the Pope It will have taken nearly 30 years since the case for declaring Elisabeth Hesselblad a saint was first brought forward whose diocese covers the whole country of Sweden "I think she's an example of a woman who really took her faith very seriously and saw that she had occasion to revive the order of St Bridget."  "The first thing is to see that this person really lived a heroic life according to the virtues," says Bishop Arborelius who adds that the person's writings are also scrutinized she was born into a Lutheran family in western Sweden in 1870 but converted to Catholicism after emigrating to New York and becoming a nurse she is also credited with sheltering two Jewish families in the convent where she lived in Rome during World War II you also typically need also to have two proven miracles under their belt The Vatican has determined that the miracles in Elisabeth Hesselblad's case were the recovery of a nun in Mexico who had been partially paralyzed due to complications from a brain tumor operation Both of these events happened after Hesselblad's death Bishop Arborelius explains how the church decides whether a recovery is the result of a miracle you have to prove that people really asked for help from this person it has to be proved that the healing cannot be explained in a natural There's been some discussion about whether the Vatican puts too much focus on miracles in the process of granting sainthood but Sister Beata believes their inclusion serves an important purpose to indicate to people praying that saints can intervene on their behalf "We can trust that she is an example that we can follow So the miracle is like a second confirmation from God but through the intercession of the saint," says Sister Beata Both Bishop Arborelius and Sister Beata are bound for Rome along with at least a couple hundred other Swedes for the occasion of Hesselblad's canonization How often do we come across stories of rich kids going ballistic about their money I mean going all around carrying out burglaries and never looking back at it as a crime We’ve seen Bling Ring by Sofia Coppola Barracuda Queens brings you a story of young girls from affluent families robbing the homes of the rich just because they want to and takes us through the rich and middle-class divide layered with drama and humor the six-part Netflix series is set in the year 1995 and begins with a bunch of 20-year-old girls from Djursholm waking up in a hotel far away from their homes followed by an astronomical bill to settle for the same place and Mia—only Mia came from a not-so-affluent family The four of them are finding ways to pay off the debt when they are joined by a new girl who also happens to be from a wealthy family The five of them rob a house in their neighborhood or will they keep on robbing people and going unnoticed by law enforcement authorities?  The story and the premise of the show are interesting and it gains traction pretty much in the first episode in just 30 minutes just like many Netflix Originals in the recent past the narrative fizzles out very quickly thanks to writers beating around the bush with the MO of the girls The pacing of the show gets affected in the last two episodes because it feels like the writers are going around a lot to tie up loose ends Only if the screenplay was tight enough to keep the storytelling smooth and engaging till the end There is a subplot about two people with starkly different personalities dating each other briefly It did not make sense to introduce this plot for it did not serve any purpose in the overall narrative The screenplay in the pre-climax and in the end was written and executed haphazardly Amanda Adolfsson’s direction was excellent in the first four episodes because it allowed the story to grow organically I only wish the writing in the last episodes retained the pacing instead of making it all messy The part where the police are investigating the robbery is also very lazily written which is an important component of such genres But what makes this show endearing is the 90s nostalgia attached to the overall arc and all the references from that time in the show are spot on There was no CCTV footage or any mobiles or cell phone towers to nab the culprits These loopholes were showcased to help the current generation understand why it was difficult to trace burglars I am sure many kids of this era will probably not relate to the small television but I am happy the makers did not overtly indulge in the nostalgia factor of the 90s and stuck to the storytelling Another rousing aspect of this show is that it is helmed by women and it allowed the story to be spoken from a female perspective without overtly indulging in preachiness There is a lot of importance given to female bonding Mothers who were devoid of marital happiness and pleasure were looking for avenues outside of their marriages with their spouses is something not many have done in the past Women who have been mothers for almost two decades have desires It also spoke a lot about how men were misogynistic toward the women in their lives A man who has been with countless women is considered a stud but a lead character in the film is shamed by her mother and her brother for being a woman by stating that she has a reputation at stake It was an era that saw many women holding top positions at work but they were reduced to someone whose reputation would decide the legacy of their family and their life going forward but women dating younger men is frowned upon These are some of the topics that are dealt with and I am so glad as a woman that it was done the right way The writers also dealt with the class divide aspect where the rich were never questioned for the robberies that were going on but the women from the middle class and working class were immediately questioned and forced to answer It allowed us to understand that the divide between the rich and not-so-rich still existed The other flaw of the show that could not be ignored was glorifying the crime and making the narrative seem as if there would be no repercussions for the action they committed Only if the writers had stressed this aspect a lot more instead of indulging the girls in having fun while robbing people with zero consequences in sight The cinematography by Ragna Jorming is stunning because it allows the audience to understand the emotions every girl goes through growing up they unearth many unpleasant truths about their parents and get to know that they The costumes and the production have to be noted for they brought to life an era that is close to many of our hearts The performances stand out for all the right reasons because the five leading ladies in this show are exceptional is brilliant as the rich brat who stands by her friends in times of adversity and Tindra Monsen are some of the finest finds of Netflix because all of their characters come from various backgrounds they end up becoming each other’s strength somehow works because there is sincerity attached to it and the makers stick to the genre instead of meandering away from it The series return was announced as part of Netflix's slate reveal for the Nordics The Swedish heist drama is coming back for a second round Netflix confirmed that Barracuda
