After approximately 50,000 kilometers driven the first phase of testing with the fully electric Scania Heavy Tipper truck above ground .. The HYBRIT initiative and the upcoming demonstration plant in Gällivare were in the spotlight at this year's Hydrogen Conference What started as two separate projects quickly revealed a shared challenge: transporting large components down to the mine and Pilestedt's cracked out the bubbly Good news, Helldivers 2's new "interplanetary battle station" - the one that sounds like it could turn the Galactic War on its head - is now being built on a spot named after a nice Scandianvian town because in order to get the station finished the Helldivewrs are gonna need to be in the "transporting gigastructures" business Yep, as if the mood at Arrowhead couldn't get any better the last MO ended with the Helldivers basically liberating Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt's hometown with the game's players already having been deployed on a fresh order in order to ensure the building of that base keeps chugging along MAJOR ORDER: The Democracy Space Station has entered the first of four construction phases. Its inspiring, grey-toned hull can already be seen in the orbit of Gaellivare," it reads, "Reaching the next stage of DSS development demands significant scientific breakthroughs. The completed station will be an order of magnitude larger than a Super Destroyer, beyond the capacity of our current Alcubiere Warp Drives to transport without astronomic E-710 consumption. "The Helldivers are ordered to clear and hold Turing, to allow the Ministry of Science to establish a new, state-of-the-art Xenoentomology Center. The Center will prototype and develop new High-Efficiency Alcubiere Drives, capable of effectively transporting gigastructures like the DSS." As of writing, Turing looks to be fully in control of the Helldivers, but with four days still to go in the order, there's plenty of time for the bugs to launch an offensive that threatens to make this MO less of a walk in the park. What other challenges do you reckon Arrowhead might throw in the divers' way as they battle to build this nice new space station in Helldivers 2? This is where the hydrogen-based HYBRIT technology will be used to process our iron ore into carbon dioxide-free sponge iron which in turn can be used to produce fossil-free steel This means that water molecules are split into oxygen and hydrogen The hydrogen can be stored and converted into electricity When we change our process to start producing direct-reduced iron ore pellets which is an additive we currently don’t use in Gällivare which in turn contains phosphorus and rare earth elements the mining waste is refined into apatite concentrate by constructing an apatite plant directly connected to the iron ore processing In order to transform the operations in Gällivare we have already started preparations on the industrial areas The path to zero emissions of carbon dioxide from our processes and products goes through three focus areas: carbon dioxide-free sponge iron Next weekend is the time for the Swedish cross-country skiing premiere “We have super conditions. area of about 5 by 2.5km of which 10 orebodies are currently being mined Mining began in 1892 and since then over 350Mt of ore have been won LKAB employs around 1,000 people at Malmberget Malmberget produced around 4.3Mt of pellets out of LKAB’s total production of 17.7Mt of iron-ore products Malmberget’s ores are hosted in Precambrian volcanic rocks that have largely been metamorphosed to gneisses the entire deposit complex has been strongly folded and now consists of a number of ore sheets that may have originally been connected Most orebodies lie within the 6.5km-long main ore zone Magnetite is the principal iron ore mineral although some areas contain significant amounts of haematite Apatite contents vary considerably from orebody to orebody with the average phosphorus content lower than 0.8% Malmerbeget’s proven and probable iron reserves totalled 350Mt at 43.8% (proven) and 37.8% (probable) indicated and inferred resources were 73Mt with the orebodies remaining open at depth mining at Malmberget is conducted at different levels remote-controlled drilling and loading equipment is used Wassara water-hydraulic in-hole hammers and Atlas Copco Simba 469W production jumbos are used the ore being handled by 25t-capacity Bison electric-drive wheel loaders Broken ore is trammed to orepasses that run from the production sublevels to the haulage level the ore is transported by 120t-capacity Sisu Mammut (mammoth) trucks to the underground crusher stations Vehicle haulage is used in preference to a rail system to give better control over the blending of ore from each of the seven operating areas the ore is skip hoisted to surface for processing the Mammut truck bodies are constructed from SSAB Oxelosund’s special wear-resistant steel The Bison loader buckets are also made of Hardox 400 All of the ore mined at Malmberget is crushed and screened and is then upgraded using magnetic separation technology Concentrator output is then processed to give sinter fines olivine pellets or concentrate for iron powder production LKAB announced a $350m investment in a third pelletising plant for Malmberget Designed and built by Outokumpu Technology the new MK3 plant includes a BUV sinter unit Metso Minerals’ balling drums and filters The attached concentrator includes Outukumpu mills MK3 has increased Malmberget’s pellet capacity by 2.5Mt/y with the potential to increase this by a further 1.5Mt/y in the future Output from the plant is used to supply domestic markets releasing pelletising capacity at Kiruna for exports The SSAB steel plant in Lulea takes one-third of the mine’s production with other main customers being SSAB Oxelosund and various Finnish steel mills The completion of the KK4 pelletising plant at Kiruna in June 2008 resulted in Malmberget becoming LKAB’s sole producer of iron-ore fines The first mine hoist was delivered by ABB in November 2007 LKAB awarded ABB a contract for the second mine hoist The hoist will be installed at the new haulage level M1250 that is under construction as of April 2011 The first and second mine hoists will be used to transport the ore from the M1250 level The second mine hoist is expected to begin operations in 2013 Give your business an edge with our leading industry insights View all newsletters from across the GlobalData Media network Caverion Corporation Article 8 February 2019 at 10.00 a.m World’s largest urban transformation – The whole community will be relocated in Sweden Around 6,000 people will be relocating together with many public and commercial spaces when LKAB needs more land for mining iron ore What is less known is that the whole community of Malmberget mainly to the nearby town of Gällivare   Both Kiruna and Malmberget have grown next to large ore deposits which calls for a relocation of gigantic dimensions the preparing infrastructure work has been going on for many years – new roads have been built and the railroad has been moved but it is only this year that the first houses are moved and the transformation of the city becomes more visible "There the urban transformation has been going on for over 50 years It began with the relocation of the church in the 1970s But now the continuation of the underground mining requires that the whole community is shut down and relocated to the nearby Gällivare which will be densified and rebuilt," says Erika Lindblad The relocation from Malmberget to Gällivare is estimated to be completed in 2032 Around 3,200 persons and approximately 74,000 square metres of public premises will be moving to new addresses it is not all just about demolishing and rebuilding Around 30 of LKAB's cultural heritage buildings in Malmberget will be preserved and relocated to the nearby Koskullskulle These over 100-year-old heritage buildings are built solid usually from timber and with rich carpentry The houses will be lifted up and transported on a trailer to their new home seven kilometres away 25 of the 30 houses have been placed on new land The company has also renovated details on the sheet metal roof "It takes a bit of extra work to renovate the HVAC system in old heritage buildings But it's fun to be part of making the beautiful houses inhabitable again," says Erik Karlsson Regional Manager of Caverion Malmfälten Erik lives in Gällivare and sees how the relocation of Malmberget affects the community on a daily basis are being built everywhere."Caverion and everybody who lives here are part of a unique and exciting project that affects the whole population It's not every day that entire communities are moved or that a community of Gällivare's size is simultaneously building a new secondary school a sports hall and a preschool," says Erik Karlsson around 5000 homes and 700,000 square metres of housing and business premises will be replaced in both localities This means that some 10,000 people – roughly a quarter of Malmfälten's population – will need to move The urban transformations are estimated to continue at least until 2035 when the current main levels will have been extracted the relocations will continue even further Erika Björnesparr Head of Marketing and
