police officers were allowed to search residents and their vehicles
This measure is part of the repressive plan carried out by the liberal-conservative coalition
By Anne-Françoise Hivert (Malmö (Sweden) correspondent)
"It's a disaster," she said of the Hageby district where she grew up and still lives
a former industrial city of 145,000 residents
between the blocks of apartments built in the 1960s along the tramway
Then everything changed: "For the last two years

"We're dealing with an increasingly complex phenomenon
mobile crime moving nationally and internationally
including shootings and detonations," said Braf
Following the double murder in Hageby at the beginning of June
the national police force decided to test a law that came into force on April 25
authorizing law enforcement officers to search people and vehicles in a predefined "security zone" for two weeks only

FC Midtjylland and Swedish midfielder Kristoffer Olsson have, by mutual agreement, parted ways to allow the 28-year-old to return to Norrköping – closer to his family and with the opportunity to continue his determined pursuit of a comeback to professional football.
Olsson rejoined FC Midtjylland in the summer of 2022 and quickly made a significant impact, both on and off the pitch. With his vast international experience, he brought composure, quality, and leadership to the team. His football intelligence and technical ability made him a key figure on the field, while his character and presence earned him great respect in the dressing room.
In February 2024, however, everything changed when Olsson was suddenly struck by a life-threatening illness.
– From day one, Kristoffer has been an outstanding player and an even greater person. Before his illness, he played a crucial role in our squad – with his vision, technical level, and ability to bring people together. He helped lift this club, and we’ve been incredibly proud to have him at FC Midtjylland, says Vice Director of Football Kristian Bach Bak, who has stood by Olsson throughout his time at the club.
Since the illness, Olsson has undergone a remarkable rehabilitation process – first fighting his way back to life, and later to the training ground. His strength and determination have left a lasting impression across the club.
– His comeback story is truly inspiring. It’s not just about football – it’s about human strength in the face of overwhelming adversity. Kristoffer has shown us all what true courage looks like, says Kristian Bach Bak.
Even while facing his own personal battle, Olsson found the strength to support those around him. Before a crucial match at the end of last season, he gave a passionate peptalk that has become a defining memory within the squad.
– That speech before one of our biggest matches is something we will never forget. It was powerful, emotional, and unifying. He hadn’t played for months, yet he found the energy to lift the team and give something of himself. That says everything about the kind of person he is – someone who, even in his darkest moments, found a way to inspire others, adds Director of Football Peter Sand.
Kristoffer Olsson himself reflects on his time at FC Midtjylland with deep gratitude.
Now, following a focused and intensive rehabilitation, Olsson stands at a natural crossroads in his career. Returning to Norrköping he will be close to his family and friends, and with the opportunity to train with the team in IFK Norrköping – the club where he first broke through as a professional – he now has the chance to continue working towards a potential return to competitive football.
– My biggest dream is still to be a footballer. To train fully, to feel like I’m contributing again. I’m progressing every week, and I’ve never been more hungry or motivated. Getting the chance to continue that journey back home in Norrköping, close to my family and friends, means everything to me. It just feels right, says Olsson.
The farewell between FC Midtjylland and Kristoffer Olsson is marked by deep mutual respect and heartfelt appreciation for everything he has brought to the club – and for the strength with which he faced life’s greatest challenge.
– Kristoffer will always be part of the FC Midtjylland family. We’re not saying goodbye – we’re cheering him on from afar. He has already overcome the greatest challenge of all, and now he continues chasing the game he loves. We wish him and his family nothing but the very best in Norrköping and will continue to follow his journey closely, says Peter Sand.
Olsson closes with a personal message of thanks.
– I want to thank everyone in and around the club – and especially the fans. When I returned after my illness, I saw a huge flag with my picture at the stadium. It’s still there, and it touches me deeply. The love and support I’ve received from the fans and the entire club – I will never forget that.
During Sunday’s Danish Superliga fixture against Brøndby IF at MCH Arena, fans will have the opportunity to pay tribute to Kristoffer Olsson. At halftime, the Swedish midfielder will step onto the pitch to say a personal and heartfelt farewell to the supporters.
We invite everyone to join us in giving Kristoffer the send-off he truly deserves.

From May 29, 2014, to September 7, 2014, Harry Potter: The Exhibition was hosted at Nya Parken in Norrköping
This was its first European stop and 11th stop overall
Harry Potter: The Exhibition is not only a magical gift to any so-called Potterhead out there but also a fantastic world to experience for anyone
I have friends who’ve visited the exhibition in other places in the world and gushed about how amazing it was
so I have to say that my expectations were very high
Yet I was blown away by the amazing way the whole exhibition was built up
I didn’t get to experience the exhibition in its whole since we were on a tight schedule
so I didn’t have time to stop and read and look into detail on everything
but I still thought it was amazing and I hope to visit again someday and take my time in there
We started by going into a room where we were received by the very gleeful Anna
whose assignment it was to Sort some of us into Hogwarts Houses
But I didn’t want to miss the rest of the exhibition
We were asked to turn off our cameras when walking into a beautiful corridor decorated with paintings
After passing by setup rooms like the boys’ dorm
where we took in part of Ron’s and Harry’s possessions in such detail that we never really notice in the films
Lupin (have to say that the clown shown in Professor Lupin’s aisle was very scary and creepy
especially since I have a phobia of clowns)
we even got to participate in the exhibition in some parts
we got to try pulling up a mandrake and hear the close-to-fatal cry it gave away
we saw the different player uniforms worn by each House and also the characters Oliver Wood
Then we came to what was possibly my favorite part of the exhibition: Hagrid’s hut
we could take part in how Hagrid lived and really see for ourselves how big he actually is
from both his costume and sitting in his huge armchair
The Forbidden Forest was very realistic in terms of both the interior and the smell of moss that was created
one of Aragog’s babies (which is bigger than you think
There were so many things to see in the room that contains the Horcruxes and Death Eater attributes
but I did see the incredible Dementor in its chilling glory as well as the Death Eater masks and robes
The Great Hall is breathtaking and contains props from all the movies
which makes you understand what a role this hall has played in the story
from the ballroom for the Yule Ball to the Battle of Hogwarts and just such things like feast food
it is a thrilling and magical experience that takes you through all the elements of the books and movies
and I think everyone who has the chance should go visit the exhibition
who play Fred and George Weasley in the Harry Potter movies
They were very nice lads and answered all the questions naturally and with very giving answers

ShareThe making of Sweden’s Ståhl Collection: ‘something to dream about every day’When you own more than 600 works of art — acquired over the course of several decades — naturally you might want to share them with the citizens of your home city by setting up a museum
Mikael Ståhl tells Alastair Smart how he managed to do exactly that
opening the Ståhl Collection in Norrköping in spite of delays caused by the pandemic

and three works by Georg Baselitz — Wa ba dir fa hal
Mikael Ståhl had been collecting contemporary art for 30 years when, in 2012, he was invited by the Norrköping Art Museum to stage a temporary exhibition of his works
The Swedish businessman was honoured and flattered in equal measure to receive such an invitation from his home-town museum
The public response to the show was positive
which got Ståhl thinking: why not create his own venue and exhibit his art there on a permanent basis
I had built up a nice-sized collection and was keen to open it up to other people,’ Ståhl says
‘I’ve always been an advocate of lowering the threshold to art
welcoming the everyday public into galleries and museums — which can sometimes seem like daunting environments.’

Ståhl’s next task was to find a space in which to show his collection
he owned a major Swedish real estate company
so he had a decent idea of where — and how — to source the right property
a former textile factory by the Motala Ström river
in Norrköping’s old industrial heart
the city had a thriving textile industry — so much so that it was nicknamed ‘the Manchester of Sweden’.)
‘I liked the rawness of the space and its industrial feel,’ says Ståhl
‘I tried to maintain any chips in the pillars or little cracks in the walls
They create a nerve through the galleries — an edgy backdrop to the artworks on display.’
The transformation of the 1,900-square-metre space now known as the Ståhl Collection was all but complete by the start of 2020
With the advent of the coronavirus pandemic
it was decided to postpone the inauguration
I was walking around as the only visitor,’ says Ståhl
but the feeling was much better when we finally opened [in October 2020].’
It doesn’t matter where an artist is from
so long as they generate feelings’Mikael StåhlStåhl owns some 600 works in total
with 180 on display at any one time across the two floors of his museum
the most recent of which took place in September 2023
with Swedish works in the basement galleries
and international works (German and American
The Ståhl Collection spans the period from the late 1950s to the present day — complementing the Norrköping Art Museum
which specialises in Swedish modernist pieces from the first half of the 20th century

The artist with the greatest number of works in the Ståhl Collection is Bjarne Melgaard
Melgaard habitually combines electric colour and a graffiti aesthetic to deal with topics such as substance abuse and sadomasochism
He is represented in the collection by pieces such as 2015’s Untitled
a painting (in the artist’s words) of ‘a Moomin on LSD’
Ståhl was born in Norrköping in 1955
He says that his first encounters with art came on family holidays — wherever they went
his parents would take him and his two sisters to visit a museum
of queuing up to see the Mona Lisa at the Louvre
with no intention then of entering the art world

who went on to become an important gallerist in Stockholm
It was Eriksson who turned Ståhl on to art collecting and in 1982 sold him his first work
Pingvin 7: a quirky painting of a penguin with a blue cube attached to its belly
Ståhl amassed a significant collection of contemporary pieces from his homeland
with examples from all the major movements in Swedish art over the decades
from Neo-realism in the 1960s to Post-modernism in the 1980s
In the early days of Ståhl’s collecting journey
Eriksson also recommended art books and exhibition catalogues for him to read
‘I never had what you might call a formal art-historical education — but with Sten as my mentor
I really was privileged,’ Ståhl says
Ståhl’s own artistic taste emerged more fully
and he says that since then the practice of collecting has
‘Go with your own personal reaction to a work rather than with an artist’s reputation
after graduation Ståhl worked with his father in the family real estate business

Works by Swedish painter Linn Fernström hang on the surrounding walls
he started acquiring international artworks as well as Swedish ones
The vast majority of such acquisitions have taken place since the sale of Henry Ståhl Fastigheter AB to a Norwegian firm in 2014
‘This meant I had the financial resources to expand the art collection in the way I wished,’ says Ståhl
you often to have to add a zero to the end of the figure you pay for a Swedish one,’ he quips
Ståhl could devote himself pretty much full-time to his collection — and the launch of the museum
‘Part of my motivation came from wanting to invest in Norrköping,’ he says
Stockholm sucks most of this country’s oxygen
not just politically and economically but also culturally
The Ståhl Collection has only been open for three years
but I do hope that it will help attract many new visitors to Norrköping.’

Following the demise of the textile industry in the early-to-mid-20th century
many mills were left abandoned — and Norrköping itself experienced a sharp decline
but the city is currently undergoing a renaissance
repurposing its derelict buildings and rebranding its old industrial core as a cultural and educational hotspot
The Ståhl Collection forms part of this
but perhaps the catalyst was the opening of a satellite campus of Linköping University in 1997

a concert hall and conference venue housed in a former paper mill.)

It’s worth adding that the Ståhl Collection doesn’t occupy all of Yllefabriken: most of the complex is devoted to more than 100 new residential apartments
Norrköping is making an asset of its post-industrial landscape
which details the removal by county authorities of his family’s ancestral right to herd reindeer

Ståhl has launched an annual scholarship
granting a chosen artist 75,000 Swedish kronor (roughly $7,000)
The Ståhl Collection also acquires a new work by each recipient
which is displayed at the museum for a set period of time
The plan is for scholarships to be awarded every year until 2030
a sign that Ståhl is looking to the future

A CITY in Europe has been compared to Manchester because of its "thriving cultural scene" and similar history
The city in the north west of the UK has a rich industrial heritage
despite it becoming much more of a cultural hotspot in recent decades
Norrköping in Sweden is not unlike Manchester in that respect
with its museums and galleries drawing very close comparisons
It's been hailed as a great city break destination by those who have been
with music and arts events adding to the great number of reasons that tourists should visit
Among those singing its praises are brothers Mattis and Niklas, who created luxury luggage brand Carl Friedrik
who are based in the "stylish" city
Mattis told Suitcase Magazine why he believes it's worth a visit
but today the city has a much calmer and quieter attitude
Unlike most holiday destinations, Mattis recommends visiting in the winter instead of the summer, describing its frozen river as "almost surreal and blissfully beautiful".
It's not just people from the city recommending a visit either, with The Telegraph also apparently big fans
an exploration of Norrköping's industrial past
They wrote: "Wander around the weir and footbridges of Industrilandskapet – the preserved factory district from the 1850s and 1920s – which is now inhabited by up-and-coming restaurants
"It also worth dipping into the Konstmuseum (Museum of Art) focusing on modernism."
Outside of the factories and museums, there's greenery and ancient history to explore
a walking trail along the riverbank that leads to the Himmelstalund rock carvings
The Sun's Head of Travel Lisa Minot has explained exactly what Brits need to know
"Travellers used to be able to roll over up to nine unused months from their old passport onto a new one
anyone wanting to travel to the EU can no longer rely on those extra months
"In order to travel to the EU, all passports must be no more than 10 years old on the day you arrive in your European destination
"And you'll need at least three months on your passport on the day you head back to the UK
"Figures have shown up to 100,000 holidaymakers a year face being turned away at airports if their passport is more than 10 years old
"The 10-year rule only applies to countries in the European Union but every country may have different rules on what is accepted - some countries like South Africa
insist you have at least six months left on your passport when you travel and a full clear page."
They are considered to be the most important Bronze Age rock carvings in Sweden and date back to between 1,800 – 500BCE
The Telegraph continued: "follow the rhododendron-lined Abackarna walking route from the city centre to Himmelstalund
a green space west of the city centre that is the unlikely location for 1,600 prehistoric petroglyphs etched into the rocks."
Getting to Norrköping from the UK isn't simple
However, it can be reached by train from Stockholm or Linkoping
both of which do have direct flights to London
A night for two in the city can be booked from around £31
Meanwhile, this city break destination has cheap flights
And this is the best value city break in Europe for 2024

Swedish Biofuel is looking to start production of a unique green aviation fuel
"The aviation industry has faced the same problem worldwide for the past twenty years
Emissions have been the biggest challenge for the aviation industry
and flight shame has also been a concern for people who love to travel
But this is the death of flight shame," says Reidar Svedahl
What he refers to as the end of flight shame is the green jet fuel from Swedish Biofuels
it has the potential to become a large investment in a production facility in Norrköping
The goal is to produce 100,000 tons of aviation fuel per year
"If we use today's Swedish market scenario, the fuel can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 93 percent," says Angelica Hull
One advantage of the green bio-based jet fuel is that there's no need to replace engines or anything else in the aircraft
Swedish Biofuel aims to establish itself in Marviken
There lies a nuclear power plant from the 1960s that was never charged and put into operation
Among other things it has a deep sea harbor from which the fuel can be shipped
The City of Norrköping is working to bring one or more small modular nuclear reactors
This would also mean a significant supply of electricity
"The goal is to make Marviken and Norrköping the center of green and fossil-free energy production in Sweden," says Reidar Svedahl
in addition to being the founder and CEO of Swedish Biofuels
explains that the goal is to supply Sweden with this biofuel
Angelica Hull founded Swedish Biofuels in 2000
she received a global patent for fuel for diesel
selected three companies to participate in a project to develop biofuels for jet engines
and their green jet fuel has since been tested in

Wettex sponge cloths – Vileda in some markets – have been an efficient way to tackle jobs around the house
thousands of meters of Wettex sponge cloth are produced at Freudenberg’s factory in Norrköping
progress is driven forward here with the help of solutions from ABB Electrification
ABB is a trusted partner that keeps the production running
thousands of drives are fed with current and voltage from ABB’s low-voltage MNS3.0 switchgear with Emax 2 circuit breakers
The tough production environment places high demands on equipment that can withstand difficult conditions
but this is not noticeable in the bright switchgear rooms
the switchgear rows are easily accessible to Freudenberg’s electricians
Freudenberg’s facility is being modernized to improve efficiency
Sustainability work takes place on many levels – improving the company's energy performance is one of them
"Our facility is being modernized and made more efficient
and the same applies to our switchgear from ABB,” says Richard Thörnkvist
Maintenance/Electrical Manager at Freudenberg
“They are rebuilt and upgraded when they are 20–25 years old
Old appliances and components that are difficult to obtain are replaced with more modern equipment that is more energy efficient
the risk of interruptions in production is reduced
“We always adapt our solutions to the industry they serve,” says Per Jennedal
Sales Representative at ABB Electrification Sweden
“Tinned rails and double contactors in an emergency stop circuit are two examples of special solutions here."
does not reflect the complicated process of making it

ABB and Freudenberg have a long and successful history of cooperation
It's easy to be fooled by Wettex sponge cloth’s unassuming look
But it takes both innovative engineering and energy efficient solutions for our sinks to shine
Curt Lindqvist created the first Wettex sponge cloth at home in his kitchen by grinding a sponge through a meat grinder
Wettex® has been manufactured by Freudenberg
which is present in 60 countries and has 50,000 employees worldwide
The Wettex production facility is home to a range of ABB power distribution solutions

How one supporter revolutionised fan culture in women’s football in Sweden
the whistle blew on a dramatic final day of the 2023 Damallsvenskan season
thousands of exhilarated Hammarby fans surged on to the pitch
a scene of pure unbridled joy on the faces of the Stockholm club’s supporters as their team’s achievements sunk in
The 38-year wait for a second league title was finally over
It was a victory that had never been guaranteed
Locked on points with fellow challengers BK Häcken
Madelen Janogy’s brace on the day ensured that they kept their noses just in front
while holders Rosengård were left to settle for a spot in mid-table
It was a result that ensured that Pablo Piñones-Arce’s side completed the domestic double
having picked up the Swedish Cup back in June
Before long the pictures of the celebrations were going viral
These are images rarely seen in the women’s game
a sport still in its infancy of building fanbases and culture
have become increasingly associated with the strong support that follows them
eye-catching tifos and high-energy singing
They have broken records on multiple occasions
17,623 fans were at the Tele2 Arena for the Swedish Cup Final to witness their team end a 28-year run without silverware
What made Saturday’s showing more impressive was that it was travelling support
adorned in their traditional green and white
made the short journey south-west to lend their vociferous support to the team
Thousands then gathered in Stockholm’s Medborgarplatsen to welcome them home
Hammarby’s supporter base has developed organically
built on strong links forged between the club and its fans as well as the integration of a “one club” philosophy
It began about four years ago when Hammarby fan Simon Sandström was in the stands with his daughter Isabella (then nine years old) where she inquired about the lack of backing for the women’s team
“I was sitting with my daughter at the small arena where the ladies played all their games,” he remembers
“She also plays football and was playing for Hammarby at that time
Is this what I’m going to play for if I become a professional footballer?” I couldn’t say anything
View image in fullscreenHammarby supporter Simon Sandström with daughter Isabella
Photograph: Petter EkbäckIt was the catalyst that pushed Simon into action
calling his friends in the current fanbase
buying megaphones and fostering the initial stages of a culture that would only continue to grow and break attendance records over the coming years
Strong communication with the club has allowed them to collaborate
with Simon working closely with the ticketing department and using social media to spread the message
“We have pub meetings before the games so all the fans get together at the same pub and can sit together to talk about the game,” he says
and it gets a lot easier to organise things
You build up a lot of new friends and a team spirit in the supporter culture too
“I think the special thing about the Hammarby support is not the amount of people,” he continues
with the drums … You feel a lot of love and it feels unique to just be there and to see the players
They are also amazed by it … I feel like we’re doing it together and we get so much back from them too
I actually think that a lot of very big players may come to Hammarby because of the culture we have.”
“It is almost becoming hard to know what to say about them,” she enthuses
“There aren’t really any words worthy enough to describe them and what they mean to us
I thought the cup final was big but this [Saturday] was something completely different
It was something I could never have pictured beforehand
“I am very happy that I am playing for Bajen who are in the driving seat for this increase in interest,” she continues
“I really hope that the other teams can follow us and are able to play in a stadium with a great atmosphere where both sets of fans really want to win
I wish that every women’s team had a person like Simon who started all of this
a real enthusiast who lives and breathes for the club and who has played such a big part
Others have obviously helped as well but I know that it is Simon who has played a huge part.”

what is next for Hammarby and their growing legion of supporters
Carlsson first points to the fact that the club are outgrowing their current home stadium
“We do have a lot of people at games now and soon we won’t be able to have everyone at Kanalplan

Hammarby will have to go through qualifying to reach the Group Stage next season but the prospect of Bajen and their fans going on a European tour provides extra motivation
“I am just waiting until the whole of Europe hopefully get to experience this phenomenon and our fan culture,” Carlsson says
they would be a welcome addition to a competition whose prestige is also developing across the continent
