Veidekke has been commissioned to build 244 apartments and non-domestic premises in Råsunda near Stockholm for the city of Solna’s public housing foundation
a design-and-build contract with a contract value of SEK 609.5 million

the city of Solna’s public housing foundation
Veidekke has now been commissioned to build a residential block that will comprise 244 rental apartments
of which six residences adapted to special needs
as well as premises for a new health center.

with groundwork and demolition starting in spring 2025
while a five-story building will be preserved
will move into new premises in one of the buildings
Varying in size from one to five rooms plus kitchen
the apartments are designed to appeal to a wide range of target groups
Plans include a large garage and two new shelters below ground
The energy supply will incorporate solar panels

working businesses and traffic must be taken into account
The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2029
The contract is included in the Q1 2025 order book

August 16 – Brazil has bid farewell to the famous stadium where they announced their arrival as a world football force at the World Cup in 1958
Brazil beat Sweden 5-2 in the final of that tournament at the Råsunda Stadium (pictured above) in Stockholm
and was invited to compete in the last match ever to be played there last night
That World Cup final saw a 17-year-old Pelé score two goals as he marked his arrival on the world stage by helping Brazil to the first of their record five World Cup victories
Pelé and Brazil went on to win the subsequent World Cup in 1962 in Chile
Back in Sweden for the occasion last night
Pelé said: “The biggest memory of being here is that Brazil was unknown until we won the World Cup
“Before 1958 nobody knew Brazil – even the name on the flag was wrong and [player Mário] Zagallo asked them to fix it.”
Completing the sense of history and occasion was the presence of Ulf Lindberg
one of the children born to legendary Brazilian Garrincha
Although debates often pit Argentina’s Diego Maradona and Pelé (pictured above
with Swedish former soccer players at the Råsunda stadium) against each other for the title of the world’s greatest player
many Brazilians actually believe Garrincha is more deserving of the title
He was in phenomenal form during the 1958 and 1962 World Cups
and his role in that legendary Brazilian side is easily understated
pace and agility made him a handful for opponents
who often did not know how to deal with him
said: “I remember Garrincha hitting two crosses in that game and generally doing all the things he was great at
“He was without a doubt the best right-winger in the world.”
Brazil won last night’s friendly 3-0
Leandro Damião opening the scoring before two late goals from Alexandre Pato secured the win
The Råsunda will be demolished at the end of the Swedish domestic season this winter
and the new Friends Arena in Stockholm will open with a friendly against England in November
The Swedish Football Association has reportedly offered to send artefacts from the famous ground after its demolition to their Brazilian counterparts

News from North and Central America and the Caribbean
Those days had to come. In mid-September Swedish fans experiences the very last derby at the 75-year-old national stadium Råsunda between AIK Solna and Djurgarden IF
an unquestionable classic of Scandinavian football
Those of ‘visiting’ DIF even wrote on the fence that this is their last gag at the old venue
But hosts weren’t giving way to the opposition with several choreographies planned – opening tifo without pyrotechnics
Then the second half presentations of both fanbases with massive amounts of pyro that led to the game being halted for a moment
And then the outcome that made one side very happy – AIK won 3:0 to end a beautiful period of derby clashes at the old stadium
though with 28,057 it wasn’t a sell-out
though the AIK - Malmö FF fixture is also a league classic
Opening tifo of the home side had a giant sign with the stadium’s name in central part with club colours and some flares in the background
That of course couldn’t have been the end as AIK’s “Black Army” wouldn’t leave the stadium without a proper ‘bang’
That came in the 2nd half and can be seen below
The very last pyroshow at an Allsvenskan game in the 75-year-old heart of Swedish football
Just as a reminder let us mention that the new Friends Arena has already been inaugurated on October 27
but to date no football pitch has been laid
It is expected to be ready for its first game in mid-November or to put it more simply: next week

setting the stage for the final day of the season
Every team was in action simultaneously on Nov
and Elfsborg certainly had the easier time
taking on Åtvidaberg while Malmö had to travel to Solna to face AIK in the final Allsvenskan match at Rasunda Stadium
players spent nearly as much time watching the scoreboard as they did their opponents
“We knew AIK was winning,” said Elfsborg midfielder Oscar Hiljemark
“Right after (Åtvidaberg) made (our game) 1-1
AIK was winning 2-0 and we knew all we had to do was not lose.”
Elfsborg finished with 59 points while Malmö slid to third place after remaining on 56 points
BK Häcken completed its best season in the Allsvenskan with a win over Sundsvall to finished in second place

AIK moved Elfsborg closer to the title slightly less than a hour later
Viktor Lundberg gave AIK a 2-0 lead in its match with Malmö in the 62nd minute and even when Victor Prodell scored in the 76th minute to equalize for Åtvidaberg
Elfsborg knew the championship was in its hands
“We had a little talk when they made it 1-1,” Hiljemark said

We didn’t want to open the game for them and we kept control of things for the last minutes.”

Waris Majeed scored his league-best 23rd goal of the season to put Häcken in front after 48 minutes
Fredrik Holster tied the game for Sundsvall at the 69-minute mark
Tom Soderberg headed home the silver-medal winning goal for Häcken seven minutes from

“We like to be on top and we have been on top in 23 of 30 innings
So I think we are damn worthy champions," said Elfsborg head coach Jörgen Lennartsson
“I am very proud that we lived up to everything
all the expectations we had built up in the spring

Brazilian football legend Pelé (1940-2022)
inspired countless fans with his skills on the pitch
But his contribution to the off-the-pitch business of football is by no means less impressive
Following his retirement from the New York Cosmos in 1977, Pelé ran his own company, Pelé Sports and Marketing
It wasn’t uncommon for retired footballers to take on another job when Pelé first went into business – players weren’t paid the large sums they are today – but Pelé’s success was unusual in terms of scope and recognition
Pelé changed the way businesses viewed Brazilian footballers and the sport as a whole
And that changed the football industry beyond recognition
Brazilian football has come a long way since first reaching the World Cup finals in the 1950s. 1,219 Brazilian players now play professionally in 81 different countries, including four of the top 20 most expensive transfers of all time
The €222 million (£192 million) transfer of Neymar Jr from Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain in 2017 was record breakingly expensive.
Historically, however, Brazilian footballers were not highly regarded by leagues or international sponsors as football was more European focused
It was Pelé’s success that changed this perception
leading to increased investment and interest in Brazilian football
The growth of Brazilian football as a business has been a direct result of the national team’s success
Brazil has won the FIFA World Cup a record five times and consistently produced world class players like Pelé
While the likes of Garrincha (1933-1983) elevated the global “brand” of Brazilian football
the money spinning industry that we recognise football as today is more recent – and it started with Pelé
Here, Pelé’s success was helped by historical timing – his latter playing years and retirement in 1977 came when international sponsorship had started to come on board with FIFA (Coca-Cola became a sponsor in 1974)
But it was his international recognition that shone the spotlight on the Brazilian team
More sponsorship for the governing bodies meant more money for the sport. In English football (where club finance data is widely available), research shows that wages increased in line with the growth in broadcasting income provided by sponsorship
And with the growth in sponsorship came the need for athlete images for sponsors to use – and Pelé was the obvious first choice
They are also seen as role models and influencers
Pelé’s international fame and national hero status helped him to use his image after retirement. So influential was that image that Coca-Cola signed him for advertising campaigns in 2001
There has also been a rise in team sponsorships
where brands are signed as the official sponsor of a football team
As a result, investment has been made in the construction of new stadiums and training facilities and the hosting of major international tournaments such as the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympic Games
Pelé’s global image was also helpful in raising the profiles of his clubs. Santos FC became a household name thanks to its most famous player and the New York Cosmos
benefited through global recognition in markets that US football had not previously reached
The same is true of the Brazilian national team. The 1950s were a buoyant time for the Brazilian economy, which created an ideal atmosphere for its football industry to grow
with Brazil being crowned world champions in three of his four FIFA World Cups
This created a product of “team Brazil” at a time when sponsorship was becoming an increasingly integral part of football
The economics of football meant vested interests and politics made use of the culturally important team, a legacy still in existence today
Regardless of the issues, Pelé’s legacy of Brazilian greatness will march on. As the blurb for his 2007 autobiography stated: “even people who don’t know football know Pelé.”

AIK midfielder Kenny Pavey has won the hearts of his fans
When Kenny Pavey walked onto the pitch at Rasunda Stadium April 27
it was the culmination of a lifetime of childhood fantasies
“Even as a kid I always dreamed of playing in front of 35,000 people,” the AIK midfielder said
“I got an award my first year with my first club Athenly
I got player of the year and top goal scorer so they invented an award they never gave before: Most Likely to Become a Professional
I’ve always felt like I was meant to be a football player.”
where his versatility and instinctive British style quickly made him a fan favorite
Although only in his fourth season with the club
the Englishman is very much the team’s standard-bearer
“I didn’t know what to expect when I came to AIK,” Pavey said
I only knew about AIK from playing against them
and now I can honestly say my heart is really with AIK.”
Pavey instantly won over the Gnaget’s hard-to-impress fans with his win-or-die style on the field and his dedication to and understanding of the AIK fan base
fans that have a less-than stellar reputation
“Everything here is about the fans,” Pavey said
There is an air around AIK that is different from other teams
I think it’s up to the individual fan to decide what he wants to do
but that rough side is what makes AIK attractive
AIK was in third place in the standings following a 1-0 July 13 against first-place IFK Goteborg
leaving the match when he received a red card for a tackle in the waning seconds of the match
“It really wasn’t a bad tackle,” Pavey said
“I was coming at speed and I think the speed made it look worse than it was.”
While he may miss up to three matches because of the tackle
it is exactly that style of play — the traditional “get your foot in there” style of British football — that makes Pavey such a favorite
“He brings a passion like no other for football on to the pitch,” said AIK goalkeeper coach Lee Baxter
“When he steps onto Råsunda the fans go crazy
Arguably the best trait Pavey brings is in the locker room
Even the ebullient Londoner admits Swedish players can be somewhat reserved
Pavey usually finds himself in the role of catalyst when it comes to team spirit
“I can lift them with something I say or with my work rate
I do my job but I also encourage my teammates
I am part of the team and at the same time
How he came to be a pro in Sweden was something Pavey didn’t see in those childhood dreams
The 29-year-old London native grew up idolizing Millwall
a working-class team in a blue-collar neighborhood
He signed with Affenley as a schoolboy with an eye toward eventually playing for Millwall
he signed with non-League Sittingbourne FC
which “paid really good wages for a non-league club,” Pavey said
The speedy winger excelled at Sittingbourne
opening eyes with his blazing runs and quick touch
the then-19-year-old Pavey appeared destined for Aston Villa and the English Premier League
That’s when fate — and Swedish football — intervened
“Sittingbourne had a lot of debt from all the wages they were paying and they had all these old players they couldn’t unload
so they were looking to me to solve their problems,” Pavey said
“I don’t know how much they were asking for me
He quit Sittingbourne and was essentially without a club until a friend suggested he look for football opportunities abroad
“At first I was thinking Spain or Italy and I thought
Rather than the warmth of Mediterranean football
the somewhat cooler clime of Sweden beckoned
I really never thought of playing in Sweden,” Pavey said
Pavey decided to trade the bright lights of London
“It was like coming to a different planet,” he said
“I really don’t understand why more people don’t come here
When I lived in Ljungskile it was a lot different
The people there were a little different than in Stockholm
the sense of humor is almost the same as England and the people have the same
although he shows no signs of slowing down
He said he would like to remain at AIK when his contract expires
but also said he realizes club management is always looking for new
the Englishman said he plans to continue playing
“It’s an honor to be a professional football player and I appreciate it,” Pavey said
“Call it a gift from above or a gift from your parents or whatever
even a messenger so I’ve seen it from both sides
Anytime AIK head coach Andreas Alm makes out his lineup
there is one player he knows will always be ready
The only question Kenny Pavey has for his manager is just where he might be on the field
but that doesn’t mean I’m going to be there,” Pavey said
has played every position on the field except goalkeeper
AIK fans learned quickly to scan for the Englishman’s No
14 jersey rather than look for him in a particular spot on the field
“I like to think being versatile makes me a better player,” Pavey said
“Each manager has a different way of playing
If we’re playing in a 4-4-2 (four defender
four midfielders and two strikers) then I play one role
it might mean I have to be more offensive or more defensive.”
moving around the field can have its drawbacks
Pavey has gone from being a striker to being a defender in successive matches
“I’ve been in the game for a while and I know the basic rules for certain positions,” he said
it’s made my football credentials stronger
I can put down that I can play any number of positions
then I can slip into different positions.”
That versatility has made Pavey AIK’s most necessary player
when you have a lot of games in a tight period like we’ve had now
you need players that you can count on,” said AIK assistant coach Lee Baxter
Pavey is one of two English players currently toiling in the Allsvenskan
the two Englishmen are trying to open doors for young British players
“I’m almost shocked there aren’t more English players here,” Pavey said
“The only thing in my view that’s preventing it is English boys can probably earn better money playing at lower levels than they could in the Allsvenskan and that’s a real shame.”
Sweden is already a proving ground – and door into Europe – for many Latin American and African players
Pavey said he would like to “open the window” in Swedish football to more British players
“I think it’s actually a more natural fit,” Pavey said
“You don’t have as much of the culture shock or climate adjustment with an English as you might have with a Brazilian
the English game and Swedish game are very similar.”
Pavey when he finally decides to hang up his boots he would like “open the window more and help English players come to Sweden
I think it would definitely be good for Swedish football.”
Pavey will take his place on the field for AIK
Even if he isn’t sure just where on the field he might play
AIK and its fans showed their best and worst sides Nov
1 as the Gnaget team defeated IFK Göteborg 2-1 at Gamla Ullevi Stadium to claim the 2009 Allsvenskan championship
scored the game-winning goal five minutes from time as AIK not only handed Göteborg its first home loss of the season but hoisted the Lennart Johansson trophy in front of a hostile crowd
The crowd only grew more belligerent when AIK striker Antonio Flavio sought a measure of revenge for insults IFK fans heaped on him by running along the edge of the field with his middle finger extended
As Göteborg fans tried to break through a cordon of police and security officers
AIK fans stormed the field from the opposite side of the stadium
celebrating wildly on the grass as the players tried to flee for safety
Police arrested 15 AIK fans at Gamla Ullevi stadium
Police in Stockholm arrested another 60 AIK fans as thousands watched the match at Råsunda Stadium on the huge DiamondVision screen
failed to put much of a damper on what was a raucous celebration for AIK
The team took over first place in August and doggedly held onto the top spot
AIK entered the match with a 1-point lead over IFK and needed only a draw to claim its first title since 1998
It was the first time since 1956 that the two top teams in the league met on the final day of the season to decide the champion
“We haven’t had a single dip all season,” said goalkeeper Daniel Örlund
“This is just incredible and it feels like we still haven’t reached our maximum potential
IFK went into the match knowing it had to be at its best to claim its second title in three years
Everything seemed to point toward Göteborg
The Angels were 11-3-0 at Gamla Ullevi and had outscored opponents 38-9 in those matches
“The best away team managed to win against the best home team,” said AIK captain Nils-Erik Johansson
IFK held the ball for more than 30 of the opening 45 minutes but could never quite find the final scoring touch
It wasn’t until the 32nd minute that Thomas Olsson put IFK on top when he scored off a corner
The goal set off wild celebrations in the crowd but did little to unsettle Örlund
“I felt that we were so much better in the second half.”
AIK tied the game just ten minutes into the second half when Flavio turned on a pass from Martin Matumba and fired the ball past Kim Christensen
the goal was sweet revenge as Flavio endured a hail of insults from the IFK crowd while Matumba earned a reprieve from an early exit
AIK head coach Michael Stahre was ready to yank Matumba when the Ugandan laid the ball off neatly for Flavio
“He was only seconds away from being replaced
but.he wins the ball and hit the post and then turns the match for him,” Stahre said
sealed the gold medal with his first goal in three years for the Gnaget
“I have dreamed about things like this,” Tjernström said
“This is everything I have fought for for so long
I got a perfect pass from Dulee (Johnson) although I wasn’t sure it would go in because I had a tough angle.”
“He will finally get his name engraved on the gold plaque at Karlberg.”
Karlberg is the AIK practice ground in Huvudsta
In the club house is a plaque with the name of each player from a championship side engraved on it.”
IFK Captain Stefan Selakovic accused Flavio of inciting the AIK fans to storm the pitch with his post-game antics
“We all saw what he was doing,” Selakovic said
I don’t think it’s a surprise that problems happened.”
fans of both teams tried to rush the pitch
The Göteborg fans were unsuccessful while the AIK fans broke through a phalanx of security just as the Gnaget players were receiving their individual gold medals
A horde of spectators made a bee-line toward AIK captain Johansson
“I was body checked by several fans who ran into me just after the final whistle,” he said “They were trying to steal the captain's armband from me but it was not theirs
I wanted to give it to Tjern after the match
Svenska Fotbollförbundet President Lars-Åke Lagrell ordered an investigation into the melee and promised to mete out tough punishment to anyone found guilty of inciting the trouble
“This is not how a championship game should end,” Lagrell said
“The players from Göteborg could not even receive their medals in front of their own fans.”
Göteborg has a chance for measure of its own revenge Nov
7 in the final of the Swedish Cup at Råsunda Stadium
STOCKHOLM - Zlatan Ibrahimovic came off the bench to hit a hat-trick and fire rampant Sweden to a 5-0 demolition of Scandinavian neighbours Finland in their Euro 2012 Group E qualifier at the Rasunda stadium on Tuesday
The striker missed the 4-1 victory in Moldova on Friday to rest an ankle injury sustained playing for his club AC Milan
but produced a finishing masterclass after joining the fray in the 25th minute after an injury to Ola Toivonen
He netted his first six minutes after coming on
swiveling to fire home from close range to make it 2-0 after Kim Kallstrom had fired Sweden ahead with a freekick that eluded Finland keeper Anssi Jaakkola at his far post
Ibrahimovic's second came four minutes after his first
Sebastian Larsson squaring him the ball for the simplest of finishes
and he could have had a hat-trick by halftime had he not fired a free kick a fraction over in the 41st minute
His third goal came early in the second half as he rose to nod home a free kick from deep on the right touchline
Sweden took their foot of the gas a little in the second half
but Ibrahimovic still managed to play in winger Emir Bajrami
who chipped the fifth goal over the onrushing Jaakkola with seven minutes left
Sweden consolidated second place in the group with the victory
three behind leaders the Netherlands after six games
The shirt is a different shade of yellow but the face and the voice on the pitch at Stockholm’s Rasunda stadium are unmistakable: “I remember everything,” Pele told reporters as he returned to the scene of his first great triumph with Brazil
the then 17-year-old Pele inspired Brazil to a 5-2 victory over hosts Sweden in the 1958 World Cup final
and the two sides meet again tonight as Rasunda stages its final international match
players from both the 1958 sides returned to the scene of the first of Brazil’s five World Cup victories and the tournament which Pele says put Brazilian football on the world map
“The biggest memory of being here is that Brazil was unknown until we won the World Cup,” said Pele
clad in a yellow Sweden shirt with the number 58 on the back
Before 1958 nobody knew Brazil even the name on the flag was wrong and (player Mario) Zagallo asked them to fix it.”
That soon changed when Pele hit a hat-trick in the semi-final victory over France and a brace in the final as the Brazilians won the hearts of football fans around the world
“Brazil was playing so good in some games that everybody was cheering for Brazil,” said Pele
said his memories of the game had faded over time but he still remembered his opposite number
“I remember Garrincha hitting two crosses in that game and generally doing all the things he was great at – he was without a doubt the best right-winger in the world.”
Pele’s fellow Brazilian forward Jose Altafini said that there was far less pressure on the 1958 team compared to their modern counterparts
“I remember that until the semi-final nobody believed in us
This gave more tranquillity to the players to start matches without pressure to win the World Cup
“Brazil today can’t lose – at that time
there wasn’t that pressure and we came here calm
Brazil’s Olympic side were criticised for losing Saturday’s gold-medal match against Mexico at the London Games
With Brazil due to stage the World Cup finals in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016
the pressure on their football team is unlikely to diminish
is close to completion and will open with a game against England in November
Rasunda is to be demolished after the domestic season ends in November
Pele said the Swedish FA had promised their Brazilian counterparts some artefacts from the old stadium

With the 2026 World Cup being hosted in three different countries, Mexico, Canada, and the USA, the host stadium for the final hasn’t been chosen as of yet. However, it seems to be between two US stadiums, the AT&T Stadium in Texas and the MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey.
Only two stadiums have been given the chance to host the final twice: the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City and the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro
The 2026 World Cup final host stadium has not yet been determined but it will be one of the USA stadiums
Texas' AT&T Stadium or New Jersey's MetLife Stadium
It's not yet clear, but it is likely to be one of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu or Barcelona's Camp Nou, two magnificent arenas which are undergoing major renovations in 2023

I felt extremely happy and proud of the team."
tonight's game is inconsequential: a friendly game has no bearing on Sweden's place in future tournaments

There's a call for a review of security procedures at Swedish football's new national arena after a fan ran onto the pitch at the close of last night's international friendly between Sweden and Argentina and hugged and kissed the head of superstar Lionel Messi
a fan had also ran onto the pitch at the Friends Arena but was stopped by security before he reached Barcelona and Argentina's best player
The fan who stormed the pitch and hugged Messi is reportedly the same person who ran onto the pitch at the old Råsunda stadium and hugged Ronaldinho of Brazil in 2006
Tabloid Aftonbladet writes that the fan was also fined last November for invading the pitch during a domestic game in the Swedish top flight
"It feels worth a fine to meet Messi," says the 35-year-old to Aftonbladet
security manager at the Swedish Football Association
admits that the man who ran on to the pitch was "a nightmare" in terms of safety
The Swedish Football Association has written to the Argentina camp to apologise for the breach in safety and Sigurdsson says it is difficult to stop a fan from running onto the pitch without resorting to extreme measures
"What you can do is to appeal to people to respect the rules
I hate to be the one who has so many stewards around the stadium to make it a wall".
The friendly game between Sweden and Argentina finished 2-3 to the visitors who were far superior to the home side
"I think it was a good game," Sweden's star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic told Swedish Radio
"We were up against one of the best nation's in the world with many skilfull individual players...It's these matches that make as better and we learn a lot from them
It's fun to play these matches and I also think it's fun for the Swedish people to see these players live."
Argentina took the lead only three minutes into the first half after Mikael Lustig deflected Gonzalo Higuain's shot into his own net
Jonas Olsson replied for Sweden with a header shortly after
but Argentina scored another two before the half-time break
Sweden's Rasmus Elm scored from distance a consolation goal in injury time to add a touch of respectability to the final score
Ibrahimovic said Sweden has much work to do to improve ahead of next month's World Cup qualifiers
"That's why we practice every day and play matches," he said
Veidekke will develop the Bollen block in Råsunda near Stockholm starting this February
This is after the city of Solna’s public housing foundation awarded Veidekke the design-and-build contract today
The contract for the commissioning of the housing project is capped at a value of SEK 609.5 million ($55.8 million)
Completion of construction: Spring of 2029
Also read: Östra Hospital expansion: Skanska to expand Eastern Hospital in Sweden for SEK 500 million
The development of the Bollen block by Veidekke is under the auspices of Signalisten and will feature 244 apartments
The apartments include one-bedrooms to five-bedrooms
They have been described as appealing to “a wide range of target groups” by Veidekke who will be handling the design of new Bollen block in Råsunda near Stockholm
Also included in the plan is a health facility
The design phase of the project will start this spring
Running concurrently will be the demolition and ground-work
Bollen block development by Veidekke will see to the construction of four new buildings
These will replace four of the current ones
while the five-story block will remain untouched
the mentioned block’s current health facility has been relocated to allow for construction work to begin
The facility will move back into the new building once construction work is complete
Also included in the development plans is a garage
Veidekke also has energy sustainability in mind as they will install solar panels as indicated in their plan
The buildings will also be certified with a “low energy consumption” standard once complete – adding a sustainability feather to the new Bollen block in the city of Solna
Involved voices have expressed enthusiasm of the project
The “complex” Bollen block project as described by the developer
“signals the start of an expansion phase and a high pace in residential construction” in Solna and Sweden as a whole
Its complexities arise from the high underground levels and an underground metro network in the construction area
These make it complex – while others cited like a busy location and traffic can be thought of as “usual” by some
Four springs away and the city of Solna has a new
and sustainable Bollen block – designed and built by Veidekke

It has only been a couple of months since soccer lost one of its biggest legends
Pele took his last breath and closed his eyes forever
Brazil and the entire soccer world wept as they got the news
Pele had an extraordinary career scoring 656 club goals in 700 appearances while scoring 77 goals in 92 matches for his national team
The Brazilian legend is the only player in the world to have hoisted the prestigious FIFA trophy thrice
He was arguably the greatest of all time and in 1973
but soccer had become a part of the legend’s personality
the first one Brazil ever had from 1995 to 1998
fans and players had to concede the fact that there was no winning against Pele
but he had an arsenal of skills to pull out impossible shots during tense situations
Host Johnny Carson welcomed the soccer superstar Pele
He had retired from the Brazil’s international team a couple of years ago
but was a regular player and the backbone of Santos FC
the soccer master decided to teach the host how to make his famous bicycle kick
A post shared by DFO – Agustin (@debatablefootballopinions)
and hit a perfect kick while falling to the floor
He repeated the process and asked Carson to repeat it
The hesitant and defeated look on Carson’s face led to big laughter from the crowd
partly because of his lack of actually ever trying it

and would later go on to play for New York Cosmos and retire in 1977
Pele never grew tired of soccer even when he was in hospital in December 2022
His daughter shared images, as Pele would closely watch Argentina keeping everyone on the pitch in check after an unfortunate start against Arabia. He must have witnessed Lionel Messi receiving the holy grail of the trophies one can win in soccer. May the legend, who devoted his life to the beautiful game, rest in peace.
