While Sölvesborgsbron is no longer the longest footbridge in Europe it is still the longest of its kind in Scandinavia It officially opened in 2013 and spans almost half a mile and connects the city center with a residential area across the bay The bridge consists of a high part made up of three characteristic arches (inspired by the courthouse and railway station nearby) These are illuminated with color-changing LEDs while subtle light beneath the deck creates reflections in the water The lighting has been developed to avoid disturbing birds and other wildlife Many light scenarios can be selected so the bridge is seen as dynamic.  Environment and sustainable development played a key role in the construction of the bridge It was made of duplex stainless steel and acid-resistant steel which makes it virtually maintenance-free and reduces the spread of hazardous waste in the habitat which was constructed by local firm Stål & Rörmontage AB has become an iconic landmark in the small south Swedish city of Sölvesborg It has even been featured on a Swedish stamp.  The western part of the bridge can be reached by foot in about 8 minutes from the railway station Parking is available nearby for those arriving by car The pillar of this bridge contains a small home and underneath One of the last remaining covered bridges in the region This hidden treasure provides a charming access The new par-three fourteenth hole at Sölvesborg Golf Club in Sweden The new greens were built as part of a project to improve water usage at the club The green at the par-five thirteenth has water on three sides with a narrow opening at the front Sölvesborg Golf Club on Sweden’s southern coast will open a new green on its par-five thirteenth and an entirely new par three hole this month as part of ongoing redesign work by design firm (re)GOLF based on a master plan created in 2010 completed a bunker renovation and a tree management programme This year (re)GOLF has worked with the club landowner and the county administration board on an environmentally focused project that addresses water quality and has also resulted in the course changes we made changes to the thirteenth and fourteenth holes and built a new hole in between them,” said Pontus Leijon “There was a small pond separating the two holes that we dug out so we could get water moving the way we needed to filtrate it properly The environmental benefits of reusing the natural salts in the water and stopping them from going straight into the sea were needed especially considering that Sölvesborg is in a region with high phosphor and big agricultural businesses The club has also been able to secure a bigger water reservoir the green at the par-five thirteenth was quite boring with a lot of maintained rough,” said Leijon “The new green on this short par five now sits on an angle and has water on three sides with a narrow opening at the front forcing the longer hitters to think twice before going for the green in two with the hole overlooking the new fourteenth with Hanö Bay as a backdrop.” The new par-three fourteenth can play up to 122 yards sandy bank that basically sits in the sea with water long but it has a large bailout area to the right will now serve as the club’s bonus hole The Sölvesborg Firehawks defeated Sundbyberg in Game 5 of the best-of-five championship series earning their second you tend not to overthink stuff — you just go in and you write music and kind of know that what comes out will sound a certain way because of the style that we are playing and how we are playing and performing our music We had a bunch of ideas and we came out with a bunch of songs that happen to sound a certain way But none of us really overthought it and it was never meant to 'it's gonna sound like this' or 'it's gonna sound like that.' We just [went] 'Let's write this music and see what happens.' And because of Added Daniel: "A lot of people like to analyze music it sounds Gothenburg metal-ish because we all are from that genre and we are some of the people that kind of created it we don't really think about how it should sound people like to do a lot of comparing between us… It's a difficult topic to discuss because none of us have — even though we've all been in IN FLAMES at some point none of us have really thought about this as what you're saying But then a lot of people that we speak to say it as we've been very thorough in just writing music But I'd say it's a little flattering to hear it." announced in 2015 that he was leaving the group to focus on his family life Iwers issued a statement in November 2016 saying that he was exiting the band "to pursue other endeavors." Strömblad quit the band in February 2010 in order to continue receiving treatment for his alcohol addiction Engelin has been sitting out IN FLAMES' tour dates for the past three years but has never officially confirmed his departure from the band Engelin's replacement for IN FLAMES' live shows since then has been former MEGADETH and current ACT OF DEFIANCE guitarist Chris Broderick Stanne recently told the "Heavy Hops" podcast about THE HALO EFFECT's musical direction: "Niclas started writing a few songs just based on what he has and what he kind of digs We're on to something here.' It's super heavy it's melodic — it's all those things that we kind of grew up trying to do Then Jesper got involved and he started changing a little bit of that or adding stuff to it this is awesome.' It doesn't feel new at all Let's focus on the things that we know best and try to kind of recapture that feeling that we had when we were kids when we wanted to play together and that kind of playful atmosphere Because the longer you play together with your main band or what have you and so much energy goes into trying to be different from what you have done before Whereas starting something new like this with a very familiar genre of music meant that you could be very free about it It doesn't have to be anything in particular it doesn't have to conform to any rules — it just needs to fucking kick ass and feel good." the band featuring vocalist Jake E (ex-AMARANTHE) and Strömblad He announced his departure from that band in May 2018 THE HALO EFFECT's first-ever tour will be as the support act for Swedish death metal giants AMON AMARTH and U.S metallers MACHINE HEAD on 31 dates throughout Europe in the summer and fall of 2022 Posted by Svein Roger Ericsson on Saturday Posted by Stefan Bladh on Saturday Just before @thehaloeffectse first live gig ever @swedenrockfestival Posted by An Odd Story - a book on beer and metal on Saturday, June 11, 2022 Essential digital access to quality FT journalism on any device Complete digital access to quality FT journalism with expert analysis from industry leaders Complete digital access to quality analysis and expert insights complemented with our award-winning Weekend Print edition Terms & Conditions apply Discover all the plans currently available in your country See why over a million readers pay to read the Financial Times A Swedish Christian Democratic politician leaves the party because she disagrees with its pro-choice stance Christel Henningsson supported the statement that abortion is equal to killing children That is not compatible with the party's view In 2018, the Christian Democratic Party in Sölvesborg described abortion as "killing children in a Facebook post, SverigeresRadio writes the abortion issue was debated just before the parliamentary election Christel Henningsson told P4Blekinge that she still supports the statement made in the post "The woman should be allowed to decide over her own body the board member of the Christian Democrats in Sölvesborg said Just hours after the Facebook post was brought to attention news broke that Christel Henningsson would resign She does not only quit her work as a board member for the Christian Democrats in Sölvesborg but also withdraws her membership from the Christian Democratic party in general The post does not mean that the Christian Democrats in Sölvesborg oppose abortion, Bengt Jönsson, district chairman of the Christian Democrats in Blekinge, stresses to Dagen They do not support the Facebook post either "It is Christel herself who has done it." the Christian Democrats in Sölvesborg support Ebba Busch the party leader of the national Christian Democratic Party Busch supports the pro-choice movement explicitly Recently she drafted a contract that politicians could sign if they were solidly pro-abortion Party leader Busch distances herself from Henningsson's position This is not in line with the attitude of the Christian Democrats; it was not then Europe's longest pedestrian and bicycle bridge in Sölvesborg Sweden recently received a few special upgrades to enhance its natural surroundings The half-mile long landmark spans from the Sölvesborg city center to a new housing district called Ljungaviken Ljungaviken is attracting new homeowners with its lush gardens Swedish design firm Ljusarkitektur teamed with lighting specialists Lumenpulse to renovate the popular bridge The teams added LED technology to suspension cables steel arches and even trees along the path The teams took careful consideration to enhance "There is a rich bird life in the area that we didn’t want to disturb,” Lina Färje with Ljusarkitektur explained “We worked to create a subtle lighting on the inside of the arches lighting the trees and reeds at special points and working with reflections in the water." KINGDOM COME has been blasted for its disastrous performance at the Sweden Rock Festival in Sölvesborg with one reviewer calling it the event's "biggest fuckup." KINGDOM COME's current lineup consists of drummer James Kottak alongside guitarists Danny Stag and Rick Steier Original KINGDOM COME singer Lenny Wolf is not involved with KINGDOM COME's reunion tour which initially came together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of the band's self-titled debut album In his review of KINGDOM COME's June 10 appearance at Sweden Rock, Peter Johansson of the popular Swedish site Rocknytt criticized the band for the inclusion of "several lengthy uninteresting and completely meaningless solos on both guitar and bass" saying that the musicians "completely massacred" one of their most popular songs writing that the drummer played "really badly sluggishly" and at times failed to keep the tempo "worryingly throughout the concert" Kottak "stumbled to the edge of the stage to bow with his bandmates," according to Rocknytt Also critical of KINGDOM COME's performance was renowned Swedish music journalist and guitar player Janne Stark who took to his Facebook page to share a photo of the gig and he wrote in an accompanying caption: "I've never seen a drummer fall asleep on stage before but James Kottak is pretty damn close Edit: they actually managed to make it worse… A few fan-filmed videos of KINGDOM COME's appearance at Sweden Rock have emerged online writing below the "Shout It Out" video: "Does anyone know what was going on with the drummer slowing down and not keeping time?" Kottak was dismissed from SCORPIONS during his well-publicized battle with alcoholism and was replaced by former MOTÖRHEAD member Mikkey Dee told the SCORPIONS official fan club Crazyscorps about the circumstances that led to his departure from the legendary German hard rock band: "I always liked a drink here and there And then I always also take a pain medication called Aleve You take those of those and you don't feel anything 'I just don't wanna drink anymore.' I didn't go to rehab; I didn't do any of that stuff [Alcoholics Anonymous] or any type of program or rehab it only lasts so long and then you have what we call in recovery a relapse I would go through these phases of a year or maybe two years of no drinking we're all downstairs having dinner," he continued "And everything's just the right price — free All these flights back and forth from Europe I might as well have a drink.' And that's what triggered me to start drinking again sometimes "It's a typical alcoholic way of thinking: 'Well Why not?' And that's typical alcoholic disease thinking SCORPIONS guitarist Matthias Jabs said that he and his bandmates "had to make" the decision to fire Kottak explaining that they gave the drummer "all the chances" to get better "We reached the point — or he reached the point — where it was just not worth it," Jabs said After its early run of success in the '80s with Wolf remaining the only constant member of the band prior to the band's reformation The group's most recent effort was 2013's "Outlier" Kottak played on KINGDOM COME's first two albums 1988's "Kingdom Come" and 1989's "In Your Face" policies in April He has taken the step of writing directly to the Google co-founder threatening to step up protests The letter says that the publicity garnered following the recent criticism by artists led to music industry representatives meeting with Robert Kyncl who asked them to “pause” their protest in return for meaningful action on the issue James Michael of Sixx: AM performing at company is “not the enemy” it has been portrayed as being “We continue to engage in productive conversations with labels and publishers,” said a spokeswoman for YouTube “Digital services like YouTube are not the enemy and we’re working hand in hand with the music industry to bring more money to artists as well as through our recently launched subscription service in the US Ultimately we believe that by providing more transparency into payouts to artists we can address many of these concerns.” Last month a report from UK music industry trade body the BPI found that royalties from sales of vinyl records were more than artists made from proceeds of music videos played on YouTube The report found that YouTube and similar operations contributed a “meagre” £24.4m in royalties despite an 88% increase in music video streams to 27bn in 2015 The sale of just 2.1m vinyl LPs earned labels £25.1m subscription audio streaming services such as Spotify and Deezer contributed a combined £146.1m Dreams of breaking into the music industry will effectively be unattainable.” In April, more than 100 artists and managers including Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Rod Stewart filed a petition sent to the US Copyright Office asking it to reform the so-called “safe harbour” laws Under current safe harbour laws sites such as YouTube are protected from copyright infringement prosecutions as long as they remove any copyrighted material when notified by the rights owners The music industry argues that this means that YouTube has immense power in negotiations when making deals with labels and publishers citing Google’s early corporate mantra in his appeal to Page “We want you to take your own advice before irreparable damage is done to the future of artists around the world.” points out it transparency on payouts,” said a spokeswoman “We believe that by providing artists and songwriters greater visibility around revenue earned on YouTube “We’re also working hard to bring more revenue to the music industry through our subscription service as well as continuing to grow our ad supported business which allows artists and labels to monetise the 80% of music listeners who historically have
